Prepare for a reset period in your
relationships, values and finances because Venus will be stationing retrograde
in 13 degrees of Aries on March 4, 2017 through April 15, 2017 when it stations
direct in 27 degrees of Pisces. Some of
you may already be experiencing this reevaluation period because Venus entered
the retrograde shadow period on January 30, 2017. Venus clears its retrograde
shadow period on May 19th in 13 degrees of Aries.
Venus doesn’t retrograde very often; it only
happens about every 18 months. The last
time it happened was from late July through early September of 2015 in the
signs of Virgo and Leo. Venus retrograde
doesn’t wreak the havoc that the notorious Mercury retrograde inflicts because
that one occurs four times a year. And because
of its rare occurrence, less people are born with Venus retrograde;
approximately 1 in 10 people have it in their natal chart. I am in that category, so this is a very
personal topic for me.
What can you expect when Venus is retrograde? For starters, don’t be surprised if old
lovers turn up seemingly out of the woodwork.
I always advise my clients not to get married during a Venus retrograde
because this particular transit has a way of making you reevaluate your relationships,
in addition to your finances and values, which also come under the jurisdiction
of Venus. Venus retrograde will force
you to reevaluate your relationships and priorities to determine what makes you
happy. What makes you happy during a
Venus retrograde may not be the case when Venus stations direct. In January I watched a fascinating webinar
with Michael Lutin on Pluto and Chiron and he dispensed some sage advice on the
upcoming Venus retrograde. He
recommended writing down your feelings on love now and sealing it in an
envelope to be opened on April 20, 2017.
Why April 20th and not April 15th, when Venus
stations direct? Because retrograde
Saturn in Sagittarius will be squaring Venus in Pisces on that day and there is
no way of avoiding reality when Saturn is involved.
Venus is not a happy camper in Aries due to it
being in one of its signs of detriment.
The other sign where Venus is in detriment is Scorpio, which I also
have. And Venus in Virgo is in fall,
which was the scene of the last Venus retrograde in 2015. Venus in Aries is very me focused, which doesn’t bode well for relationships. But having
Venus retrograde in Aries may increase our awareness of any imbalances in
relationships, such as one person is doing too much giving. The most constructive
action that you can take during the Venus retrograde in Aries period (until
April 2nd) is to appreciate yourself and avoid becoming too
narcissistic. And watch out for anger to
erupt too because Aries has no problem expressing anger. When Venus enters
Pisces on April 2, 2017, it will be in its place of exaltation. Venus in Pisces is a more selfless placement
and compassion just seems to flow naturally.
I also caution my clients to be careful about
embarking on new relationships when Venus is retrograde. Relationships begun under the auspices of a
Venus retrograde may be based more on physical attraction rather than true
compatibility. .This could definitely be the case during this particular Venus
retrograde because it begins in Aries, the ruler of Mars. Try to be realistic
about meeting your soulmate under this transit; the likelihood is just not that
strong. You don’t want to wake up on
April 20th when Venus in Pisces is direct and squaring Saturn in
Sagittarius moaning, “What was I thinking and who is this person
next to me?”
Venus also rules finances and values, so they
are also subject to the process of reevaluation and reset. If you get involved with someone during the
Venus retrograde and they don’t share your values, conflicts could emerge when
Venus is direct. I also advise my
clients not to purchase any luxury items during a Venus retrograde because you
may find your tastes totally changed by the time Venus is direct. If you must indulge, be sure there is a
generous return policy. The only exception to this rule is if you buy something
that is used because it tends to represents a valued item that belonged to
someone else. It is well documented that
many people find great bargains at estate sales, yard sales and flea markets
during Venus retrograde. So there is a way of shopping without suffering buyer’s
remorse. And since Venus also rules
beauty, it’s not a great time for a huge change in one’s appearance. Don’t get your hair cut too short or you may
crying about it in April when Venus is direct.
And postpone any cosmetic surgery if you can. That new nose or face may not suit you in
April or May.
The Venus retrograde transit will be happening
in my 6th house, so I am anticipating a reevaluation and reset of my
daily routine, health and work. I do
have several doctor’s appointments scheduled during March and while I hope
these checkups deliver good news, I know that if any problems are found, I am
responsible for initiating a reset to get back on track if necessary.

Jupiter in Libra, prompting me to tweet:

But Mars in Aries will be delivering some
positive vibes on March 5, 2017 when it trines Saturn in Sagittarius in 26
degrees of their respective signs. This
aspect will sharpen our focus and reward us for our hard work and following the
rules. I love it when we get an aspect
with themes of productivity and reaping rewards. This aspect also forms a grand fire trine
with my Pluto in Leo, so I am looking forward to it. I wish all of my readers a productive,
