The Sun in Leo Faces off with Pluto in Aquarius, Chiron in Aries Joins the Retrograde Party and Venus Sails into Cancer

 

How are you all faring with this Mercury retrograde in Leo?  As a Scorpio, I am definitely feeling its effects. The fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio are probably bearing the brunt of this Mercury retrograde. Since Mercury went retrograde on July 18, I have lost a Zoom recording, my phone has shut off and given me a "Phone unavailable" message and my Fitbit battery started draining rapidly.  And customer service for Fitbit (now owned by Google) was not able to help me.  I mention this because in addition to Mercury, Neptune, Saturn and Pluto retrograde, Chiron is joining the party this week.

The Sun in Leo is opposing Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius on July 25.  Power will be a key theme of this aspect.  We might be seeing a compulsive urge to take control, manipulative tactics, jealousy, intense emotions surfacing and some major confrontations.  But the silver lining of this aspect is that it can lead to transformation.  Hold that thought...

Chiron has been in Aries since 2019 and it will be joining the retrograde pileup of planets on July 30 when it stations retrograde in 27 degrees of Aries.  It is known as the "Wounded Healer".  Chiron will remain retrograde until January 2, 2026 when it stations direct in 22 degrees of Aries.  When Chiron is retrograde, it will bring up old wounds and traumas for healing.  In the sign of Aries, it can be a time to reclaim our courage and identity because it represents a time of empowerment.

I feel that the Chiron wound never really goes away and that when Chiron is retrograde, it can serve as an astrological therapist.  Yes, you have to face the pain, but you can emerge from this period (the rest of 2025 into early 2026) with the tools to heal and become more self-empowered.  I know this is definitely true in my case, as is it currently trining my Pluto in Leo, opposing my Neptune in Libra, and squaring my Uranus in Cancer.  During the retrograde, it will once again square my natal Chiron in Capricorn.  It happened the first time in May and I will get another hit in October.  I am not escaping the effects of this retrograde, and you shouldn't attempt to either.  As the saying goes, resistance is futile.

Venus is leaving Gemini on July 30 and entering the cardinal water sign of Cancer until August 25.  This will cause a major shift in relationships and finances as we are more likely to reflect on home and family.  We will feel a desire to create more safety and nurture our relationships.  It can also be described as a sentimental journey as we seek to strengthen our bonds with loved ones.  The shadow side of Venus in Cancer is that we can be moodier. The water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will benefit the most from this transit.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Leo Season is Roaring in as Mercury Retrogrades in Leo, the Sun Enters Leo and We Have a New Moon in Leo

 

Be ready to roar because Leo season is here.  On July 18, Mercury stations retrograde in 15 degrees of Leo.  This Mercury retrograde will be entirely in Leo, and will station direct on August 11 in 4 degrees of Leo.  I don't know about you, but I have been feeling like Mercury has been retrograde all week, but Mercury has been in its retrograde shadow since June 30. Never underestimate the power of the retrograde shadow period when it comes to Mercury.  Mercury will clear its retrograde shadow on August 25 when it hits 15 degrees of Leo.

Mercury retrograde is associated with delays and challenges in communication and transportation, as well as electronic malfunctions. We could also be hearing from ex-lovers or old friends when Mercury is retrograde.  When it is retrograde in Leo, there can be more drama and impulsivity.  Mercury retrograde calls for us to reevaluate and when it is in Leo, we could be reevaluating our creativity.  Egos could be bruised quite easily too. The spoiler alert is that anyone with planets or points (Ascendant, Nodes of the Moon, Descendant or Midheaven) in the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio will bear the brunt of this Mercury retrograde.

The Sun enters the fixed fire sign of Leo on July 22.  The Sun rules Leo, so it is quite literally in its element now. Be open to a month of feeling playful, fun-loving and proud. It is a time to shine and strut your stuff. Generally we are feeling more generous when the Sun is in Leo and it is time to let that inner child out to play.  There is a very good reason that people tend to go on vacation when the Sun is in Leo...

The Leo energy continues on July 24 with the New Moon in 2 degrees of Leo.  This one will have the theme of a fresh start in creativity, self-expression and leadership underscored by the feeling of power in the moment. We are still feeling the urge to shine.  The New Moon in Leo will also highlight social injustice and social exclusion.

The Sun in Leo is also trining Neptune in 2 degrees of Aries, which can make us more sensitive and empathetic to the environment and open us up to socializing.  The Moon in Leo is opposing Pluto in Aquarius, which can trigger some control issues and manipulative tactics in relationships.  Watch out for jealousy and obsessiveness to rear their ugly heads...  This New Moon is squaring my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio in my 1st house, so I doubt it will be a quiet time for me...

Saturn in Aries is forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in Aquarius on the New Moon, however, and this should help us overcome hardships with endurance and determination. It is time to channel a strong work ethic.  Pluto in Aquarius is also sextiling Neptune in Aries, which holds the promise of positive change, spiritual awareness and transformative insights.  It's kind of nice that Saturn, Pluto and Neptune are cooperating with each other for a change despite the turmoil the world is undergoing these days.

Saturn Retrograde in Aries

 

The retrograde party is about to get some more company on July 13 when Saturn in 1 degree of Aries joins Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius.  Saturn will slip back into Pisces on September 1 to handle some unfinished business and then station direct in 27 degrees of Pisces on November 27, 2025.  Saturn will finally return to Aries on February 14, 2026 and remain there until April 2028.

Saturn retrograde is associated with limitations, frustrations, anxiety, fear and guilt.  Most of us don't expect to be making much progress during this period.  So if I have rained on your parade, just remember that forewarned is forearmed.  But I would like to bring to your attention the fact that Saturn is forming a minor grand trine with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, which can give us more optimism than the usual Saturn retrograde transit.  This increases the likelihood of technological breakthroughs, restructuring of power and perhaps a deeper sense of spirituality.  Pluto will remain in Aquarius, while Uranus will station retrograde in 1 degree of Gemini on September 6 and will return to Taurus on November 7.  Neptune stationed retrograde in Aries on July 4 and slips back into Pisces on October 22.

Saturn retrograde in Aries will cause us to get reacquainted with our inner authority and redefine our sense of self-leadership.  And yes, this is a process that takes time and patience, qualities that Aries does not exactly have in abundance.  When Saturn is retrograde in Aries, we are learning how to act with integrity and tone down the impulsiveness.  Karmic lessons around impulsivity, anger and assertion are coming up for review.

When Saturn is retrograde in Pisces from September 1 through November 27, spiritual boundaries will be revisited.  Our dreams will get a major reality check.

Try to think of Saturn retrograde as a time of going back to the drawing board to reevaluate our foundations surrounding personal power and leadership during the early phases of Saturn retrograde in Aries.  Our dreams and goals will come under scrutiny when Saturn is retrograde in Pisces.  Delays in achieving goals can be expected.

Saturn and Neptune are traveling together in Aries and while they will not be exactly conjunct in Aries until February 2026, they are within 1/4 of a degree by mid-July.  This means that we are feeling the effects of the difficulty in discerning the truth or finding a stable ground.  Saturn is into building structures while Neptune likes to dissolve structures.  Disillusionment is possible as we head towards a new global reality.

On July 18 we will have Mercury joining the retrograde party in Leo.  Stay tuned for more on that in next week's post.

Fireworks Erupt on July 4 when Venus and Uranus Meet up in Taurus Before Entering Gemini, Neptune Goes Retrograde in Aries and a Full Moon in Capricorn on July 10

 

Venus and Uranus are conjunct in 29 degrees (yes, the anaretic last degree) of Taurus on July 4 at 8:45 a.m.  Themes of sudden changes and excitement with love and/or money are running rampant.  Venus rules Taurus and is very happy there while Uranus is distinctly uncomfortable there. This promises to be an exciting day, to say the least.  Venus moves into Gemini at 11:31 a.m. on that day and remains in Gemini until July 30.

When Venus in Gemini, love has a more fun-loving, lighthearted and flirtatious vibe.  We can find ourselves craving variety and spontaneity.  If we are single, we could literally be torn between two lovers.  Venus in Gemini also has an intellectual edge to it, so we could find ourselves attracted to someone's mind.  All in all, Venus in Gemini favors socializing, meeting new friends and partying.  Friends could become lovers during this time and we could develop quite the spendthrift attitude towards money this month.

Neptune stations retrograde in 2 degrees of Aries on July 4 at 5:34 p.m. until December 10, when it goes direct in 29 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune will re-enter Pisces for its unfinished business on October 22.  Neptune retrograde can be a very subtle transit.  It can actually help to fade away some illusions and help us to reevaluate our dreams while deepening our spirituality.

Uranus enters Gemini on July 7 but it's a teaser of what's to come in the next seven years because Uranus will station retrograde in 1 degree of Gemini on September 6 and move back into Taurus on November 7.  Uranus will be retrograde until February 3, 2026 when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Taurus.  Then Uranus will be in Gemini from April 25, 2026 through May 22, 2033.

When Uranus is in Gemini, we can anticipate disruption and sudden changes in how we think, communicate and travel short distances.  Uranus is much happier in the mutable air sign of Gemini than it was in the fixed earth sign of Taurus.  But Uranus in Gemini is also associated with wars and conflicts.  The United States of America experienced the Revolutionary War during its run from 1774-1778; its own Civil War when Uranus was in Gemini from 1858-1865 and got involved in World War II during the last transit of Uranus in Gemini from 1941-1949.  Uranus has an 84-year cycle.  And the last time Uranus was in Gemini it dipped back into Taurus from early October 1941 through May 1942.  It is commonly thought that this particular transit of Uranus in Taurus (1934-1941) was associated with the rise of dictators around the world.  It did lead to World War II.  There will undoubtedly be even more rapid technological advancements this time around with Uranus in Gemini too.

On July 10, we have a Full Moon in 18 degrees of Capricorn that can signal some movement towards achieving our goals.  I know, most people get rather freaked out with a Full Moon, especially one opposing the Sun in sensitive water sign of Cancer that the Moon rules.  There could very well be some big reveals on this Full Moon, especially on the heels of Uranus moving into Gemini on July 7.  But this Full Moon in Capricorn is forming a beneficial trine with Mars in 13 degrees of Virgo, which can give us a boost in terms of our actions bearing fruit.  The Full Moon in Capricorn quite literally represents a crossroads in our journey because it is also in harmony with the South Node of the Moon in 20 degrees of Virgo courtesy of a beneficial trine, helping us to break free of our bondage from the past and forming a supportive sextile to the North Node of the Moon in 20 degrees of Pisces.  We could very well be presented with some opportunities to move forward...

But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
