Saturn Stations Direct and Venus Moves into Leo

Well, the August eclipses are over but there is still plenty of astrological action going on. Saturn in Sagittarius played a major role in the Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:

Saturn has been retrograde in Sagittarius since April 5, 2017, but on August 25, 2017, it will station direct in 21 degrees of Sagittarius to complete its transit of Sagittarius. Then Saturn enters its home sign of Capricorn on December 19, 2017.  Have you been feeling frustrated, anxious, restricted, limited and fearful for the past 4 ½ months? Blame it on Saturn Retrograde!  That is about to change because Saturn direct is giving us a green light to move forward.  Now we can actually deal with the fears and doubts that have been holding us back. How cool is that?  We may even wind up with a whole new perspective on any additional responsibilities we have had to assume in the past few months. Clearly, this will be a day of rejoicing and a cause for celebration. 

The moon is in Libra on August 25^th and it forms some very favorable aspects. For starters, it conjuncts Jupiter, which is bound to put us in a social, fun loving mood to start the weekend.  It also sextiles Mars in Leo and, TA-DA, it also sextiles Saturn in Sagittarius about 4 hours after Saturn stations direct. Hallelujah! Let’s get moving forward. If the recent eclipses didn’t shake you out of any ruts, complacency, or just feeling plain stuck, this astrological combo should get you moving.  I love it when Saturn plays nice with Mars and Jupiter. And this is due in large part to that peace and harmony loving Libra moon. Jupiter in Libra sextiling Saturn in Sagittarius should be a very favorable influence for hope and faith to align. It encourages manifesting an ideal and bringing more harmony and balance into our lives.

Venus gets in the act on the following day, August 26^th, when it moves into Leo. We will all notice the shift in love, values and finances when Venus transits the fun loving fire sign until September 19^th.  Venus in Leo brings more drama to love and finances for starters.  Venus in Leo brings fun, indulgence and demands.  It also enhances creativity and childlike enthusiasm but it does have a flip side of temper tantrums.  Competitiveness and excessive pride can also play out while Venus is transiting Leo.  Venus in Leo will draw attention to where you shine. For me, it starts in my 10^th house of career before moving into my 11^th house of friends, group associations and aspirations.

Venus transiting Leo is definitely an attention craving time as we seek adoration and admiration. It is a time of taking pride in love and can be very romantic. Leo is renowned for its generosity and excess, so some may wind up buying extravagant gifts for their loved ones during its transit. Venus Moves into Cancer, Uranus Stations Retrograde and Jupiter Squares Pluto Take 3

Venus is preparing to leave airy, mercurial Gemini and enter the sentimental water sign of Cancer on July 31, 2017, where it will reside until August 26, 2017.  Venus in Gemini may have been ultra-social, but it had its rocky moments, especially on July 24^th when it opposed Saturn in Sagittarius, inspiring me to tweet:

What can we expect when Venus is transiting the sign of Cancer?  Venus in Cancer features a strong emphasis on women, children and real estate.  If you are moving into a new home while Venus is in Cancer, this is a perfect way to capitalize on that energy. We will definitely find ourselves feeling more emotional, sensitive, and nostalgic as it inspires devotion to others.  We may want to entertain at home more too.  Cancer is also known for its nurturing qualities, which may mean for some who are born nurturers what they need to feel nurtured.  If you tend to be a member of the tribe that finds giving easier than receiving, this is an optimal time to get in touch with what you need to feel nurtured.  Venus in Cancer has its emotional ups and downs, because let’s face it, Cancer is also known for being moody, but let’s try to focus on the good times it can bring.

Venus in Cancer will be conjuncting my south node in Cancer, so I am anticipating the potential for some changes in my emotional life as well as my financial situation.  I confess that transits to my south node tend to make me anxious.  They are highly emotional times.  Four years ago I left my full-time job when transiting Jupiter was conjunct my south node and it was not an easy decision but I have no regrets.  While I don’t know if Venus will contribute to ending any relationships, it could very well symbolize the end of some patterns in relationships that no longer serve me.  The south node does represent our over-developed qualities that are our karmic baggage and having a planet conjunct the south node brings opportunity for releasing situations or patterns that no longer serve our best interests.  It’s definitely food for thought and I hope that I can be mindful of that because transiting Venus will be conjunct my south node on August 7, 2017, when we have a lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Aquarius. 

On August 3, 2017, Uranus will station retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries until January 2, 2018 when it stations direct in 24 degrees of Aries.  Uranus retrograde happens every year and approximately 40% of the population has Uranus retrograde natally.  I am in that group myself.  Uranus is known for its disruptive nature, but I can attest to the fact that when you have Uranus retrograde natally, there is a strong tendency to internalize that disruptive nature by feeling anxious, stressed out and restless.  I believe that transiting Uranus in retrograde motion will help us process internally what we need to do to allow changes to happen.  Many of us are feeling frustrated these days that the changes we want to see happen aren’t manifesting.  Uranus retrograde denotes a period of higher self-awareness and gives a whole new meaning to the expression that real and lasting change starts as an inside job.

If you have any planets or points (as in nodes, ascendant or midheaven) between 24 -28 degrees in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you will feel the brunt of this transit most acutely. Uranus will be opposing my Neptune in Libra, which has the potential to play out as either confusion or enlightenment.  Reality and fantasy are literally colliding with this aspect.  I am setting an intent for this to be a time of profound revelations.  Neptune has the ability to create quite the smoke screen and I am hoping to dissolve that smokescreen during this transit. 

On August 4, 2017, we will experience the third and final exact square of Jupiter in Libra to Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect began on November 24, 2016 and occurred again on March 30, 2017.  Back in March Jupiter was retrograde and Pluto was direct; now that is reversed.  Both planets are in 17 degrees of their respective signs. The central theme of Jupiter squaring Pluto is to achieve super success, justice and a desire to create healthy dynamics in relationships while maintaining a level of integrity.  Squares are challenging aspects that feature tension which promotes an impetus for growth.  Any limited beliefs and limitations will come up for review.  I will not lie about the frustration level inherent with squares and with Jupiter in Libra (the sign of justice and balance) challenging Pluto in Capricorn, the issues of trust and integrity are bound to surface.  Jupiter in Libra is demanding that we act fairly to achieve the success that Pluto in Capricorn craves.  There is also potential with this aspect to create a healthier relationship with ourselves.

The Jupiter Pluto square is impacting me big time as well.  Jupiter is conjunct my ascendant while Pluto is squaring it.  Jupiter conjunct the ascendant can be expansive and pleasant, but it comes with the caveat of watching one’s weight as well as one’s ego.  I can’t let Jupiter expand my physical body or project an arrogant persona.  And then there is Pluto in Capricorn featuring the potential of intense encounters that hold the key to transforming important relationships.

Super New Moon in Cancer and Mars Squares Jupiter

Summer is officially here! Both the sun and Mercury entered the emotional water sign of Cancer on June 21, 2017, aka the Summer Solstice, inspiring me to tweet:

But we have a special astrological treat in store for us on June 23, 2017 with a Super New Moon in 3 degrees of Cancer at 10:31 p.m.  It is classified as a super new moon because it so close to the earth’s orbit.  The moon rules Cancer, and is right at home in this emotional, nurturing, sensitive sign. This will be a very strong new moon that will rock our emotional core and give us access to information from a higher source.  It will be a very psychic time indeed.

This new moon also features a stellium in Cancer—in addition to the sun and moon in Cancer, Mercury and Mars are also in Cancer. The new moon is 3 degrees away from Mercury, emphasizing communication and amplified emotional sensitivity.  Chiron in Pisces is a major player in this new moon as well.  Chiron is currently in 29 degrees of Pisces and 29 degrees of any sign is referred to as the critical degree.  Chiron will station retrograde in 29 degrees of Pisces on July 1, 2017 and it will not enter Aries until April 2018.  The last aspect that the departing Gemini moon makes before it enters Cancer is a square to Chiron in Pisces.  This heightens emotional sensitivity and ramps up the intensity regarding vulnerability and old wounds.  It can also make us feel like victims and we need to counteract this effect by trying to feel more empowered.

This new moon in Cancer holds the promise of new beginnings for homes and families accompanied by a strong focus on emotional security. The sun and moon in Cancer are also widely conjunct Mars in 12 degrees of Cancer which can make us very protective or even defensive as insecurities can flare.  But this new moon is a marvelous opportunity to release any negativity in relationships.  It is conjuncting my south node in the 9^th house, which should be a really intense experience. I really believe that Chiron in Pisces is giving us a booster shot in terms of healing old emotional wounds with this new moon.  And with Chiron about to station retrograde soon we will have plenty of time to heal and release any victim issues that have held us back. It will be a whole different ball game when Chiron enters Aries in April 2018.

If anyone is looking to buy a new home the new moon in Cancer is a real boon and lucky charm.  The fact that Mercury will remain in Cancer for the next two weeks (it enters Leo on July 5, 2017) makes this the ideal time to strike while the iron is hot.  Having the sun and Mercury in Cancer creates a real nesting vibe to enhance emotional security.

Another astrological feature of this new moon is a cardinal T--square involving Mars in 12 degrees of Cancer, Jupiter in 15 degrees of Libra and Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  This configuration could trigger issues of fairness and equality with a strong need to rebalance.  Jupiter in Libra is all about fairness and Pluto in Capricorn is tied into power issues.  With both Jupiter and Pluto squaring Mars in Cancer, there can be a lot of aggressive energy out there that tempts us to overreact.  The best way to deal with this energy is to observe, stand back in our own quiet space and don’t engage in power plays.  That is probably easier said than done, but it is worth remembering.

On June 24, 2017 we get a blast of powerful transformative energy when Venus in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect supports the deepening of relationships by focusing on shared values.  It helps us to find common ground so that we are operating on the same page in relationships and finances.

But on June 25, 2017 Mars in Cancer will be squaring Jupiter in Libra as part of the cardinal T-square and this aspect can definitely cause us to bring emotional battles to an extreme.  Cardinal signs are known for their ability to initiate and be rather combustible.  It is very easy to bite off more than we can chew with this aspect.  Mars squaring Jupiter can trigger angers around the issues of fairness and justice.  Mars in Cancer can be quite defensive if provoked.  The effects of the Mars/Jupiter square will be felt through the end of June and it may manifest in even more shocking news than we’ve already seen in 2017.  But Mars in Cancer cuts us some slack in the wee hours of of June 25, 2017on the east coast when it trines Neptune in Pisces.  Trust your instincts then and solutions to problems may arrive in the form of dreams or other inspired actions.

The Sun Swims into Pisces and Mars Squares off with Pluto

We may be in that limbo period between eclipses (the first lunar eclipse of 2017 occurred on February 10^th and we have an upcoming solar eclipse on February 26^th in Pisces), but that doesn’t mean that this is a fallow period astrologically.  Far from it.

The season of Aquarius is coming to a close.  It was an interesting and inspiring time, to say the least and it had its share of positive aspects.  One of the nicest aspects occurred on February 11, 2017 when the sun in Aquarius trined Jupiter in Libra, inspiring me to tweet:

The Sun enters the mutable water sign of Pisces on February 18, 2017.  The sun in Pisces is a much more emotional period than the cool, detached air sign of Aquarius that preceded it.  We tend to be more intuitive, creative, and sensitive when the sun is in Pisces. It can indeed be a kinder, gentler time when kindness and compassion prevail. Altruistic feelings are stirred as we become more empathetic.  That is the highest nature of Neptune, the ruling planet of Pisces.  But the lower vibration of Pisces leans towards escapism, addictions, and getting stuck in the victim/martyr role, so be on guard against these potential manifestations.

The sun in Pisces will also be conjunct Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces on March 2, 2017 and will also conjunct Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces on March 15, 2017.  Both of these aspects are beneficial for compassionate gestures, a heightened sense of spirituality and creativity and healing.  Astrologically speaking, it’s a trifecta of Pisces, with the sun, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, which is a major invitation to dream, flex those creative muscles, rest, and engage in some major healing.  And the piece de resistance is a solar eclipse in Pisces on February 26, 2017! 

I always love it when the sun is in Pisces, despite the fact that it is winter.  The sun transits my 5^th and 6^th houses, so it feels right at home.  I find myself energized creatively and I try to focus on improving my health and daily routines.  For a healer, having the sun in Pisces is a real boon for my work.  It doesn’t hurt that all that lovely Pisces energy trines my Scorpio and Cancer planets, either.  If you are wondering how the sun’s transit through Pisces will affect you, consider getting an astrological reading so that you can reap the spiritually enlightening benefits of this transit.

There is one major challenging aspect that we face before the solar eclipse in 8 degrees of Pisces on February 26^, 2017 and it is a doozy.  On February 22, 2017, Mars in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn in 18 degrees of their respective signs.  This is a pretty heavy duty aspect that contains strong themes of power struggles and confrontations.  It can manifest in violent behavior and represents the collective need for change and transformation.  Mars and Pluto are definitely not lightweight planets. The best advice that I can give anyone for dealing with this aspect is to not start any fights or make enemies because you will lose.

Mars squaring Pluto feels like life is challenging or resisting our efforts.  It’s all about power, force and violence.  This particular hit will be quite strong because Mars is fierce in its home sign of Aries.  Feelings of frustration and anger accompany it as well.  It literally feels like the heat is building up like a pressure cooker.  Don’t be surprised if old fears and obsessions rear their ugly heads as they return for a final purge.  Ironically, on the same day the sun in Pisces is conjunct the south node in three degrees of Pisces and this has a potent theme of releasing old karmic baggage.  The solar eclipse on February 26^th will only amplify that message.

I confess that this particular aspect has me a little concerned in terms of how it is aspecting my chart.  Both Mars and Pluto will be squaring my Libra ascendant and my Cancer midheaven, which is a lot of cardinal energy shaking.  And then there is my Chiron in Capricorn, which faces a wide (6 degrees) conjunction from Pluto and a square from Mars.  I’m sure that it won’t be a dull day and I would do well to heed the advice that I frequently dispense to my clients: BREATHE!  And a little meditation won’t hurt, either.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars in Pisces is Anything but Passive and Sun Enters Aquarius

Mars in Pisces is not generally thought of as the most aggressive placement for Mars (it’s not like it’s in its home signs of Aries or Scorpio), but it has been pretty busy since it entered the sign of Pisces on December 19, 2016.  It remains in the sign of Pisces until January 29, 2017.  Mars is the planet of aggression and energy, but when it is in Pisces, it can have an otherworldly quality and can result in some downright passive aggressive and addictive behavior if we are not mindful. But Mars in Pisces will energize our dreams and creativity.  The most productive way to utilize Mars in Pisces is to focus on the empathy, forgiveness and compassion that accompany it.

Mars and Pluto are co-rulers of Scorpio, so the heat was on in terms of generating some healing power.  And healing has been a major theme these days, especially with Mars conjunct Chiron in Pisces.  This aspect has been pretty active since the recent intense Cancer full moon on January 12^th and we will continue to feel its effects for about a week.  It will get us in touch with whatever really hurts on a deep, profound level.  Take a look at where 21 degrees of Pisces falls in your chart, or contact me for an astrological reading!

But Mars and Saturn will really get into it on January 19, 2017 when Mars in Pisces squares Saturn in Sagittarius in 23 degrees of their respective signs.  When Mars is squaring Saturn in an individual chart, there can be difficulty with self-expression accompanied by feelings of frustration and inhibition.  Trust me on this one—I have Saturn in the first house squaring my Mars in the 4^th house in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Aquarius.  Talk about frustration in terms of wanting to accelerate and move forward (Mars) while having an external force slam the brakes on you (Saturn).   At least this Mars/Saturn square will be in mutable signs, so that is some consolation in terms of giving us greater flexibility to adapt to whatever frustrations come our way.  Mars and Saturn in a challenging aspect can indicate a certain amount of defensiveness (I plead guilty as charged on this count) but with this transit, it might actually be the most productive way of dealing with it.  It is a good time to strengthen our defenses and be as patient as possible.

But on January 19, 2017 the sun will enter the sign of Aquarius at 4:24 p.m.  Granted, it’s not the most comfortable sign for the sun to be in because it is more detached and less emotionally effusive (Leo is its home sign, after all), but it could prove to be a welcome relief from the structures and conventions associated with the previous sign of Capricorn.  That detached quality that Aquarius is renowned for may prove to be a powerful ally in dealing with the inherent frustrations of the Mars/Saturn square.  It could indeed be a time when cooler heads literally prevail.  When the sun is in Aquarius, we crave originality, dare to trek off the beaten path and the need for freedom is paramount.

We are definitely going to need that sense of detachment on the following day, January 20, 2017, when the United States of America inaugurates a new president.  The moon will be in Scorpio that day, sextiling Mercury in Capricorn and trining Neptune in Pisces.  Emotions will run high and be intense during this day of transition in the power of the United States government.  And Venus in compassionate Pisces will be sextiling Pluto, which in itself is a blessing.  Hopefully this astrological combination of sun in Aquarius, moon in Scorpio and Mars, Venus, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces can help us all keep a cool head and focus on demonstrating some empathy and kindness towards others during this time of transition.
