Mercury in Sagittarius and Chiron in Pisces Stir the Pot for Communication and Healing

Mercury may be getting ready for its next havoc wreaking retrograde transit, but at least Neptune is direct after a five month retrograde.  On November 22. 2017 I tweeted:

We are officially in Sagittarius season with the sun in Sagittarius after an emotionally tumultuous sun in Scorpio transit.  The sun is joining Saturn in its final weeks in the sign of Sagittarius and Mercury in Sagittarius about to station retrograde on December 3, 2017.  Mercury stations direct on December 22, 2017 in Sagittarius and remains in Sagittarius until January 11, 2018.  But before Mercury is officially retrograde (it entered the shadow last week and many of us are feeling the effects already), it will make some important aspects.

Chiron in Pisces is a key player in the planetary activity this week.  On November 24, 2017, Mercury in 24 degrees of Sagittarius will form an exact challenging square with Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect can really provoke some feelings of not being heard or understood, but if we make an effort to communicate about our wounds, it can lead to a payoff of deep emotional healing.

On November 25, 2017, Mercury in 25 degrees of Sagittarius will form an exact trine with Uranus in Aries.  This aspect will actually have a positive effect because if we make an effort to communicate it will help propel us forward on our path. This aspect is trining my Pluto in Leo in my 11th house, so I am definitely in the process of reexamining my goals.

Chiron in Pisces receives another hit in the form of a beneficial trine from Venus in 23 degrees of Scorpio on November 26, 2017.  This aspect can serve to deepen our relationships as well as our values.  It holds the potential to be very emotional, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing.  The main thing to remember with trine aspects is that you have to work them; don’t just sit around waiting for the healing to happen.  Once again, I am right in the thick of things with this aspect as Venus is one degree away from my natal Venus in the 2nd house.

On November 28, 2017, Mercury in 27 degrees of Sagittarius will form an exact conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius.  This is not the cheeriest of aspects; it has a somewhat gloomy vibe that can trigger bouts of anxiety about not getting enough done, but it does pass quickly. The most constructive way of dealing with it is to engage in some sensible self-care like eating healthy and getting enough rest to reduce stress levels. However, we will experience it again next week when Mercury is retrograde, so if we don’t get it right the first time, we have another chance.

As you can probably surmise from what I have written so far, this is going to be somewhat of an up and down week.  One day we face a challenging aspect, the next day there is a more favorable aspect.  After the challenge of the Mercury/Saturn conjunction on November 28th, we get another break on the 29th when the moon in Aries trines the sun in Sagittarius.  This lovely fire trine occurs in 7 degrees of the respective signs.  Fire trines are creative, enthusiastic and imbue us with a sense of optimism and hope.  It should really lift our spirits and may even put us in a more festive, holiday mood.  Some of us may start tackling our holiday shopping under its influence,

If you are curious as to how Mercury retrograde and the season of Sagittarius will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. There is something for everyone.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

Major Reality Check as Venus Squares Saturn and New Moon in Taurus

A major reality check is in store on April 21, 2017 as Venus in 27 degrees of Pisces squares Saturn in 27 degrees of Sagittarius.  This is the third Venus/Saturn square of 2017, so maybe this third time will be the charm.  The first square occurred on January 27, 2017 when both planets were direct; the second time was earlier this month on April 11, 2017 when both planets were retrograde.  At least Venus is finally direct this time.  But the bottom line with Venus squaring Saturn is that it tends to be very tough on relationships, values, finances and self-esteem.  Feelings of loneliness and depression are par for the course with this aspect.  And adding to the mix is the fact that Chiron in Pisces also interacts with this aspect. On April 16, 2017 I replied to a tweet by fellow astrologer Tisch Aitken:
Truly, the best possible outcome of this Venus/Saturn square in which Saturn in Sagittarius also squares Chiron in Pisces is to heal old wounds.  I think that this should be an interesting time for me personally as Venus and Chiron in Pisces trines my Venus in Scorpio and Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer, giving me the benefit of a grand water trine activating my chart.  And Saturn in Sagittarius is trining my Pluto in Leo.  It feels good to have these two heavy hitters working together instead of at cross purposes for a change.

Pluto stationed retrograde in 19 degrees of Capricorn on April 20, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:
I have no doubt that I have some major transformation and healing coming up as Pluto’s station exactly sextiles my Scorpio sun and forms a wide conjunction to my own Chiron in Capricorn.

The new moon in 6 degrees of Taurus occurs on April 26, 2017.  The new moon itself is not making any major aspects, but it will reinforce the Pluto retrograde vibe because it sheds a light on our darkest side so that we can achieve transformation and release our guilt, fear and shame.  And don’t forget that Taurus is the sign associated with strong, powerful leaders, which may be featured prominently in the news that day.  I wouldn’t rule out any stories of international conflicts with this new moon.

Uranus and retrograde Mercury in Aries are forming a conjunction on the day of the new moon in Taurus.  This aspect can bring some innovative solutions, which is definitely positive and potentially productive energy that resonates well with the theme of a new moon, which symbolizes new beginnings.  Uranus and Mercury are also forming a supportive trine to Saturn in Sagittarius, which lends a tone of stability to any changes that we wish to implement.

Venus in Pisces is a major player in this new moon in Taurus too.  Venus is the ruler of Taurus and it forms a conjunction to Chiron in Pisces.  This aspect provides an incredible opportunity for healing if we are willing to forgive the past and move beyond victimization.  Pisces is all about compassion and unconditional love, but it does have a flip side of playing the martyr and victim, which is definitely not productive in terms of spiritual growth.

For the most part, I am looking forward to this new moon in Taurus.  It falls in my 7th house and does form a challenging opposition to my natal Saturn in Scorpio, but it also forms an exact trine to my north node in Capricorn.  The opposition to my Saturn may raise some awareness of my responsibilities in relationships that I have been neglecting, but overall I think that the benefits of the trine to my north node will outweigh the effects of Saturn.  This is a new moon that trines my north node, which should be a boon for progress on my spiritual path.

If you are curious as to how these astrological changes are impacting you or seeking more spiritual insight into your life, please consider getting an astrological reading. An astrological reading can provide valuable insight and tools.  If you are not quite ready for a full blown natal interpretation or a solar return forecast, I also offer a basic astrological reading that will offer insight into your astrological DNA and the major themes in your life and delving into any pressing issues, one question astrological readings and composite couple readings that offer insight into the purpose of a relationship. And I offer shorter transit readings for three and six months. If you purchase a three or six month transit reading, I will .even take a peek at the eclipses of 2017. We recently experienced the February eclipses, but the August eclipses promise to be heavy hitters.  You can learn more about my menu of astrological services, including the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

Powerful Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Can you feel it?  Today is the long-awaited last eclipse of 2016 and it is packing quite a punch.  It is a lunar eclipse in 24 degrees of Pisces and it is particularly potent because Chiron in Pisces and Mars in Sagittarius are major players.  Pisces is the uber emotional water sign and relationships will feel the impact of this eclipse as the full moon opposes retrograde Mercury in Virgo and inconjuncts Venus in Libra.

The full moon is conjunct Chiron in 22 degrees of Pisces, which is really stirring the emotional pot by fully exposing (that’s what lunar eclipses are all about, folks) old emotional wounds so they can heal.  Chiron’s influence is painful and an upsetting part of the transition we are all facing.  On September 15th, the sun in Virgo was in direct opposition to Chiron, inspiring me to tweet:

“Virgo sun opposing Chiron in Pisces today could trigger some old emotional wounds for healing.  Prelude to Friday’s lunar eclipse.”
There is no denial that this eclipse’s connection with Chiron has a major theme of healing as all of us are forced to confront our oldest, deepest emotional wounds.  Pisces is also a sign that represents spirituality and faith, but as I have previously commented on numerous occasions, trusting in the process is extremely difficult but very necessary

Mars in Sagittarius is not making this eclipse any easier to deal with.  It forms an uncomfortable T-square with the sun and moon in Virgo and opposes Chiron in Pisces.  Mars squaring the moon can really push our buttons and force the issue on releasing some karmic baggage.  Anger can erupt quite suddenly in relationships if unexpected events occur due to the fact that Uranus in Aries is also opposing Venus in Libra.  And Uranus in Aries is trining Mars in Sagittarius, which can provide courage and drive to make the right moves and get unstuck.  Trust Uranus to get involved in the mix and make this lunar eclipse even more interesting by adding the element of the unexpected. But the trine to Mars is a positive aspect. There is massive potential for self-reflection during this eclipse and lots of angry reactions.  But what are we really angry about? We may find ourselves lashing out or projecting our anger for something totally unrelated.

I am definitely not immune from the effects of this lunar eclipse.  My chart is a veritable land mine and I have been feeling extremely emotional, irritable and exhausted for the past week.  We are just bouncing back from the last Saturn Neptune square on September 10th and I went into eclipse mode on September 11th, the 15th anniversary of 9/11.  Why is this eclipse impacting me so strongly?  For starters, it is opposing my progressed moon in Virgo and sextiling my natal Chiron in Capricorn in the 4th house.  It’s hitting pretty close to home and bringing a lot of old emotional wounds up for review. It is also trining my sun and Venus in Scorpio, as well as my midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer.  When a lunar eclipse forms a grand water trine with your natal chart, it’s bound to be a highly charged emotional time. If you are curious as to how this eclipse or the solar eclipse on September 1st is affecting you, I highly recommend getting an astrological reading now to obtain greater insight during this intensely transitional time.

Earlier this week I was watching a very inspiring video with Henry Seltzer on this lunar eclipse.  Check it out at:

Just click on the image of Henry’s face to watch it.

Henry’s video featured a chart of the eclipse.  Being a Scorpio, I was struck by the fact that the ascendant for the eclipse chart was 26 degrees of Scorpio.  But then I realized that the chart was for Pacific Daylight Time and I immediately constructed a chart for Eastern Daylight Time.  That gave the eclipse an ascendant of 7 degrees of Capricorn and Pluto was in 14 degrees of Capricorn in the 1st house.  So my feeling that this eclipse has the potential to be very transformative and Scorpionic was right on the mark.  That eclipse ascendant is also conjunct my north node, so I am definitely hoping that this eclipse will be instrumental for me in ushering in a regenerative period of transformation and growth.

The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am still channeling that Virgo north node energy by offering my Reiki services.  If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

Scorpio New Moon

The major astrological event of the week was the powerhouse New Moon in 19 degrees of Scorpio on November 11, 2015.  My tweets on November 11th reflected on the energy of that new moon:

“Extremely powerful #NewMoon in Scorpio today that conjuncts Mercury & trines Chiron in Pisces.  Time to transform & heal old wounds.”

“#NewMoon in Scorpio today sextiles Pluto in Capricorn.  Let go of stagnant patterns and make a fresh start.  Feel the #Phoenix energy!”

We all know that new moons are about making fresh starts and implementing new plans, but when that new moon is in the sign of Scorpio, the intensity and incentive are ramped up a few more notches.  Scorpio likes to get to the bottom of things and doesn’t do anything half-heartedly.  The themes of a Scorpio new moon involve deep soul searching, reclaiming personal power by engaging in our passions, purging toxins and surrendering to the darker shadow feelings of rage, jealousy and obsession.  It is truly a time of letting go and transforming our inner stagnation and letting that inner phoenix rise from the ashes.

There were a lot of heavy hitting planets interacting with this new moon.  For starters, Mercury in Scorpio conjuncted it, affording us the opportunity to purge our old patterns of thinking and communicating that were based on fear or the need to control.  And Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, sextiled that new moon, which was like a double whammy and adrenaline shot of energy to assist us in our path of transformation. Chiron in Pisces trined the new moon and opened the floodgates to facing our inner wounding. This may have caused many people to lash out in fear or anger.  This was an enlightening new moon, but it may have felt like a full moon with its emotional intensity.

We are not free of the effects of the Pluto Uranus squares of the past three years, and Uranus managed to chime in on this new moon as well to make its presence known.  Uranus in 17 degree of Aries formed a semi-sextile aspect to Chiron in 17 degrees of Pisces.  Most people are not that aware of semi-sextile aspects, considering them minor, but that is really not the case.  I was reminded this week of how a semi-sextile aspect functions on a very similar vibration to that of an inconjunct, which is 150 degrees.  Uranus in Aries is a very clear indicator that unexpected events are quickly becoming the norm. I am extremely familiar with the inconjunct or quincunx aspect because I have a natal moon in Gemini/Saturn in Scorpio inconjunct.  While the main theme of the inconjunct is adjustment, other themes of the inconjunct include the ideal vs. the real, the balance between wish fulfillment and responsibility, trade-offs, compromise, review, frustration, lack of moderation, an inability to say no and a compulsive need to prove oneself.  Uranus was a key player in this new moon by forcing us to trust our intuition and bear witness to our forms of reactive behaviors and transform them into more constructive responses to situations that triggered our old wounds with its semi-sextile aspect to Chiron in Pisces.

If you would like to learn more about the inconjunct and semi-sextile aspects, I highly recommend the book Understanding Aspects The Inconjunct by Alan Epstein.  It will blow you away with its revelations of our inner strengths and weaknesses.

The north node of the moon is moving into Virgo on November 13th and this will place more of an emphasis on providing service to others and releasing our feelings of inadequacy and inclinations to withdraw or play the victim.  We will also get one final blast from Mercury in Scorpio conjunct the Scorpio Sun in 24 degrees on November 17th.  This aspect is conjunct my Venus in the 2nd house, so I am anticipating something big that day.

I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services. If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off.  Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

I am also offering my holiday Reiki special again this year of three Reiki treatments for $50.  It will run through December 2015 and makes a great gift for your loved ones.  Who couldn’t use a little calm, relaxation and sense of peacefulness?  If you are in the Boston area and interested in purchasing a package, please feel free to contact me at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.

Full Moon in Taurus--It's All About the Money

We are still under the influence of a full moon in 14 degrees of Taurus that occurred at 2:23 p.m. on November 6, 2014.  A full moon in Taurus has the potential for revealing secret attitudes about money, values and relationships. This particular full moon represents things that began at the time of the new moon in Scorpio on October 23rd, which was an extremely potent solar eclipse. Seeds were planted then but we may have more information now which can lead to a completely different attitude.

The last couple of times we had a Taurus full moon around 14 degrees occurred on November 11, 2011 at 18 degrees and on November 5, 2006 at 13 degrees. When I reflect on those times I recall feeling hurt by the actions of someone I trusted and cared about who made decisions affecting my life without any consideration or respect for my feelings. But this full moon in Taurus can bring karmic themes with others full circle. Perhaps it is time for me to balance those karmic scales once and for all.

Several other planets were featured heavily in this full moon. The full moon opposed Venus in Scorpio in addition to the Sun in Scorpio. And we all know that Scorpio rules the 8th house, which is other people's money. It also sextiled Chiron in Pisces, inspiring me to post these two tweets on November 6th:

"Taurus full moon sextiling Chiron in Pisces today symbolizes the pain and potential for healing and transformation."

"Taurus full moon opposing Venus in Scorpio puts the emphasis on relationships and seeds planted during October 23rd eclipse."

Uranus, Pluto and Mars were also key players in this full moon. Uranus and Pluto are moving closer to an exact square in December, but the Taurus full moon trined Mars and Pluto in Capricorn. Mars and Pluto will form an exact conjunction on November 10th, which can bring violent confrontation. And Uranus in Aries will square Mars in Capricorn on November 12th, which brings the promise of more disruption and the need for change.

Mercury will be moving back into Scorpio on November 8th and will finally be out of its retrograde shadow on November 10th, which coincides with the Mars Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. So this will mark the beginning of a "safe" period to make decisions regarding relationships. Confrontation or collaboration? It's your call.  Be mindful of the potential for stubbornness and breakups because this full moon was in the fixed sign of Taurus, which is renowned for being stubborn as a bull. And I can tell you from personal experience how stubborn a Scorpio can be!

Molly Hall's About.com weekly astrology article featured a section about the impact of the full moon falling in the 12 houses. I can attest to the fact that she nailed it for me with her description of it in the 8th house.   She said that the theme of this full moon could very well be about funding with strings attached if it occurs in your 8th house. This resonated big time for me because the Taurus full moon occurred in my 8th house opposing my Saturn in Scorpio at the end of my 1st house. Finances are a major concern for me as I continue to establish my business and build a practice. She wrote about the issues of selling one's soul for stability and the need for deep inner change around self-worth while releasing toxic situations and people. Make no bones about it, themes of disillusionment and the need for transformation abound. Transiting Saturn in Scorpio is currently conjunct my Venus in the 2nd house while transiting Venus in Scorpio was conjunct my Saturn at the beginning of the week. Financial stability is important to me but I also need the freedom to pursue my own path of transformation.

I came across a quote from Vedic reader Maharani Rutan on the Taurus full moon that I would like to share with you.

"The Taurus energy will give rise to the Phoenix out of the ashes."

I don't know about you, but I am intent on channeling that inner Phoenix! It's time to work on integrating stability and transformation into our lives. It is literally a fusion of opposites.

If you are feeling confused during these challenging times and curious as to how you can facilitate the process of transformation and healing for yourself during the Season of Scorpio, please consider getting an astrological reading to obtain more insight and assistance. I have also added a one question astrology reading to my list of services for $40 that is an even more intuitive approach based on your natal and progressed charts with transits to both.

Goodbye Pisces Sun, Hello Aries and Happy Astrological New Year

The Sun entered the sign of Aries at 12:57 p.m. on March 20, 2014, officially kicking off the Spring Equinox and the astrological New Year.  After all, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac.  Although a month ago I was extolling the virtues of the sun in Pisces, I am more than ready for the action period that Aries represents.  I can’t deny that the sun in Pisces was a boon for my creativity but it was also a time when I had to dive deeper into that emotional ocean it represents than was in my comfort zone.  And the moon was in deep watery Scorpio until 8:39 a.m. today, so it was pretty intense, especially so with its last aspect being a conjunction to Saturn.  I have a moon Saturn aspect in my chart, so I always feel that particular contact pretty strongly.  I am trying to regard that conjunction as an opportunity to clean up old emotional patterns that no longer work and move forward.  Aries is a cardinal sign that supports moving forward in a big way.  I don’t have much fire in my chart, being mostly water and air, but I am learning to embrace the enthusiasm of fire signs as I get older.  Aries represents leadership, initiative, courage, determination and action. It is a time to try something new and be more spontaneous.  And today’s Sun in Aries trines the Sagittarius moon, so adventure may be on the horizon for the weekend.

While the Sun may have left Pisces, we now have Mercury in Pisces again.  Mercury entered the sign of Pisces on March 17th and today it will finally be out of the retrograde shadow.  Have we forgotten that recent Mercury retrograde period from February 6th through February 28th?  I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling that “shadow” for the past couple of weeks and am quite ecstatic that Mercury is finally out of that shadow so we can really move forward.   Talk about TGIF!  Mercury in Pisces will be conjuncting Neptune in Pisces on March 22nd, so sensitivity will be ramped up to a whole new level and the tendency to see things through rose-colored glasses is prevalent.  Neptune will be in its home sign of Pisces until 2025, so we have quite a few more years of the annual Mercury Neptune conjunction to experience.   Molly Hall wrote a beautiful piece called Neptune Goggles On: Sensitized Sight. Check it out at:

I loved what she said about Mercury crossing 3 degrees of Pisces being a release phase of the retrograde—an atmosphere to see into subtle and soulful realities.  Epiphanies may very well manifest in the coming days.

And then there is Chiron in Pisces.  Chiron will remain in the sign of Pisces until 2019.  Michael Lutin’s Next Week in Review had the following to say about Chiron in Pisces on his site:

The last two weeks
have seen a major Chiron incident
in everybody's life---
one that produced
a highly emotional
response.
Love
Pain
Dedication
Regret
Guilt
Creativity
Some saw God
Others lost faith
This week is a week of recovery.
Step back if you will
and look back
could you really have done something different
to change where it all stands today
or did it happen
Exactly the way it had to?
Action is one thing
destiny quite another.
Even though in private your mind keeps going over
and over and over
the incidents of the past month,
you must attempt
to move forward
because life demands it.

I think that really nails the Chiron in Pisces experience, especially its reference to when Chiron conjuncted the Sun in Pisces on March 3, 2014.

Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer and has a fifty year cycle.  I started wondering what was going on the last time Chiron was in Pisces, from 1962-1968. Chiron in Pisces represents the last stage of healing at the soul level.  I also realized that the current transit of Chiron in Pisces has been squaring my natal moon in Gemini since late January 2014 and will continue to do so throughout 2014.  I checked the ephemeris and realized that the last time I had this transit was back in February 1964.  My father nearly died of a bleeding ulcer back then.  Trips to the hospital were part of my life then, as they are now.  My father’s hospitalization occurred on February 9, 1964.  How did I remember the date?  I confess it was because I remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show that night.  If you were alive back in 1964, who could forget the first time you saw the Beatles?

What is the theme of Chiron transits to the natal moon?  Well, they force you to look at emotional  hang-ups caused by psychological scars of the past which can be related to the mother.  That resonated for me because my maternal grandparents died in November and December 1962 when Chiron was also in Pisces.  My mother was devastated by their deaths which occurred within less than six weeks of each other and in many ways I felt emotionally abandoned and a sense of responsibility for her emotional well-being.  So when my father got sick my mother must have been terrified, especially when my brothers and I started expressing our fears that our father would die.  So Chiron is once again opening up old emotional wounds regarding my fears of emotional abandonment and loss of a loved one through death.  My loved one is still in the hospital awaiting the green light for surgery that will improve the function of his enlarged heart.

But the Sun is in Aries and it is time to move forward and heal.  I will actually be starting to offer Reiki treatments on March 26th at my favorite acupuncture clinic, so I am getting in the spirit of that Aries energy by trying something new.
