Venus in Cancer Gets Very Busy with Saturn, Neptune and Pluto While Mars Enters Libra

 

The month of August is here and Venus, which just entered the cardinal water sign of Cancer on July 30, is already very busy. I mention that Cancer is a cardinal sign because they love to initiate action and we could very well see some action during this first week in August. 

On August 1, Venus in Cancer is squaring Saturn in 1 degree of Aries.  Venus squaring Saturn can be a very stressful time for relationships as fears and criticism can surface.  Don't be surprised if you feel unappreciated and experience difficulty expressing affection on this day.  However, it can lead us to establish better boundaries in relationships as limitations and responsibilities are emphasized.  Venus squaring Saturn can also play out as financial constraints.  This aspect is exact at 9:34 a.m.

Since Saturn and Neptune are traveling together in Aries these days, Venus in Cancer will also be squaring Neptune in 1 degree of Aries at 4:49 p.m.  When Venus squares Neptune there is a theme of insecurity about our appearance or love life.  We might be prone to overidealize a romantic partner.  This is also not the most self-disciplined time and we could find it easier to engage in some substance abuse.  Finances might take a hit if we act impulsively too.  At least this is happening on the weekend...

On August 2, Venus in Cancer will be inconjunct Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius.  When Venus and Pluto get together, there tends to be a strong theme of obsession and an intense desire for love.  And with an inconjunct, the planets are in signs that have nothing in common, so there is always some amount of adjustment or course correction necessary to survive. This aspect will highlight power imbalances, unhealthy relationship patterns and unmet needs.  Try not to start a new relationship under the auspices of this aspect but focus on repairing an existing one or changing your attitude towards power.

Mars enters Libra on August 6 and remains in the cardinal air sign until September 22.  Mars in Libra motivates us to achieve more harmony in relationships.  We tend to act more cooperative and diplomatic with Mars in Libra. Fairness is very important to us now and we won't hesitate to fight for it.  This isn't the strongest placement for Mars because it rules the opposite sign of Aries.  Some astrologers would say Mars is in its detriment in Libra because there might be difficulty expressing anger or frustration.  The shadow side of Mars in Libra is a tendency to procrastinate or be indecisive.  Avoidance of confrontation and passive-aggressive behavior are also common when Mars is in Libra.  Mars has been transiting my 12th house since mid-July and won't enter my 1st house until early September, so I am quite familiar with these traits.  Mars transiting the 12th house is not exactly going to make you a fireball of energy, but it is sweet when it hits your Ascendant and I am looking forward to that surge of energy.  

Mars in Libra will be very active around the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 9, but more on that in next week's post.  Enjoy and make the most of this first week in August.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. August Goes Out with a Bang as Mars Enters Libra, Uranus Goes Retrograde and a Second Full Moon in Pisces

 

The month of August is on its way out and like many people, I could not be happier about it.  It started with a Full Moon in Aquarius on August 1, featured a New Moon in Leo on the 16th that felt for all the world like a Full Moon and ushered in a Mercury retrograde on the 23rd on the same day as the Sun entering Virgo.  On that day I posted on Twitter (I still can't bring myself to call it X):

But wait, there is more.  Save the day of August 27 because there is more planetary action afoot.  The Sun in Virgo will be opposing Saturn in 3 degrees of Pisces, for starters.  This aspect will deliver a reality check and challenge us to make some kind of decision. The Sun and Saturn were conjunct in 27 degrees of Aquarius on February 16, 2023, so I encourage you to think back to what was transpiring in your life then.  Something you did back then might not be working right now, so it could be time to discard it.  The Sun in Virgo is very practical and likes to fix things.

Mars will also be leaving the sign of Virgo and entering the cardinal air sign of Libra on August 27, where it stays until October 12.  Mars is considered to be in detriment in Libra, so it will have some challenges in this sign.  Mars is the planet that represents our drive and what motivates us.  When Mars is in Libra, relationships can become our focus.  We want harmony and peace but we can also be more indecisive.  But Mars in Libra is more open to compromise and can be quite the negotiator.  Our needs and wants are bound to come up for review.  And this is all playing out against the backdrop of the remaining days of Venus retrograde in Leo.  But hang in there, folks because Venus will be stationing direct in 12 degrees of Leo on September 3. Relief is in sight!

On August 28, Uranus will station retrograde in 23 degrees of Taurus until January 26, 2024 when it goes direct in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus is the planet associated with change, revolution and awakening.  I am sure that many of you are thinking, great, just what we need, one more retrograde planet while Mercury and Venus are retrograde.  But when Uranus is retrograde, the changes we experience tend to occur more on an internal rather than external level.  I can say this because I have a natal Uranus retrograde.  Most of us will not be feeling Uranus retrograde as acutely as Mercury or Venus retrograde because it is a slower moving planet.  

But Uranus is not exactly comfortable in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, so let's hope and pray that Uranus does not continue to blow up the earth with more fires, earthquakes, hurricanes and floods.  I wouldn't rule out some cyberattacks or big truths being revealed, though. If you have any planets between 19 and 25 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, though, you will feel the effects of this Uranus retrograde big time.  This retrograde Uranus will be opposing my natal Sun and Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house, so I am sure that my values and sense of life force will be up for some change.

The month closes out with a Super Full Moon in 7 degrees of Pisces on August 30.  This is also known as a Blue Moon because we have two Full Moons in a month.  Pisces is a mutable water sign and this is bound to be a very emotional and sensitive Full Moon.  The themes associated with a Pisces Full Moon include creativity, kindness, compassion and spirituality. But confusion, deception and a tendency to feel overwhelmed can also be present.  Emotions will be running high, mark my words.  We have a preponderance of mutable energy on this Full Moon: the Sun and Mercury in Virgo, the Moon, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces.  This Moon will shine a light non disillusionment, health and nutrition.  Service to others could also factor in heavily.  And pay attention to your dreams around this Full Moon, because we could be receiving some important messages.  

The Full Moon in 7 degrees of Pisces is also conjunct Saturn in 3 degrees of Pisces.  Once again, the theme of a reality check comes into play.  With the conjunction occurring in the sign of Pisces, it could provide an impetus to get real on our spirituality.  Saturn is also known as Father Time, so if there any endings in your life right now, they could have profound and long-lasting effects.  This is not a Full Moon to be taken lightly...

Venus and Mars are on the Move

Venus in Scorpio is a very different animal than Venus in Libra and love (and finances) will take on a whole new vibe.  Venus in Scorpio is considered to be in detriment because Venus rules Libra and Taurus, so it can be more difficult to express those loving feelings in a gentle way. And Venus in Scorpio doesn’t do superficial; it craves a body and soul connection because its bottom line is all or nothing. Venus in Scorpio sees everything in black and white and doesn’t do gray.  Loyalty is a quality associated with Venus in Scorpio, but if you make the mistake of betraying a loved one, revenge will ensue.  And this is not going to be a pretty sight when its stinger is unleashed. The shadow side of Venus in Scorpio entails jealousy, obsession, payback by striking where it hurts and emotional manipulation.  But you have to admit that when Venus is in Scorpio, there is intensity and passion galore with all of that smoldering energy.

Since Venus also rules finances in addition to love.  When Venus is in Scorpio, it can be quite lucrative for financial affairs as it tends to attract money from others.  Scorpio is the sign associated with other people’s money.  Freelancers and the self-employed should fare very well during the transit of Venus in Scorpio.

Mars, the planet of desire, is moving from Virgo into Libra on September 14 and stays in Libra until October 30. Mars was very strong and productive in the sign of Virgo. Mars is considered to be in detriment in Libra because Mars rules its opposite sign Aries.  Mars is associated with action and Mars in Libra is inherently passive.  When Mars is in Libra we are just not that comfortable expressing anger and are conflict averse.   We tend to use charm to win arguments with style.  We are motivated by relationships and are less inclined to rock the boat.  The shadow side of Mars in Libra is procrastination, indecision and passive aggressive behavior.  But Mars in Libra is motivated to fight for what is fair and right, so this is literally the ace up our sleeve in terms of utilizing the energy of the Mars in Libra transit.

On September 16, we have an opportunity for more intense and deep experiences when the Sun in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn are forming an exact trine in 24 degrees of their respective signs.  A trine between these two planets is much easier to deal with than a square or opposition.  The trine allows us to clear the clutter in our lives for positive transformation to occur.  We will be feeling more empowered in our ability to make changes because we are not afraid to delve into the darkness that Pluto represents.  And let’s face it, 2021 is a transitional year that is all about change.  It’s nice when we get a cosmic break to help us on our path.

October Starts off on a Powerfully Transformative Note with Pluto Stationing Direct and Mercury and Venus Moving into Scorpio

Libra season may have just begun, but the month of October promises a strong infusion of Scorpio energy.  On October 3, 2019, Pluto stationed direct in 20 degrees of Capricorn after having been retrograde since April 24, 2019.  It is common knowledge that when a planet is in a stationary position, either getting ready to go retrograde or direct, its influence is especially powerful.   And let’s face it, Pluto is the planet that pertains to transformation and rules Scorpio to boot.  Pluto is also about power, and after having spent five months reflecting on our deepest desires and needs, Pluto stationing direct is a green light from the universe to reclaim our power in whatever area of life Pluto was retrograde and holding us back.  It’s high time for some deep emotional release as we confront the darkest parts of ourselves and others.  On October 3^rd, I tweeted:

Mercury also entered Scorpio on October 3, 2019 for an extended stay until December 9, 2019 courtesy of the upcoming Mercury Retrograde which officially starts on Halloween and ends on November 20, 2019. Mercury in Scorpio is one tough cookie.  Communications are bound to be more probing and intense because when Mercury in Scorpio the inner detective has free reign in terms of seeking out hidden truths.  Profound thoughts will emerge and our thinking will be more focused and downright obsessive.  And don’t forget the sharp and stinging language that Mercury in Scorpio is notorious for.  Or as I have often described my own Mercury in Scorpio, it’s like a mouth that should be registered as a lethal weapon.  I reflected on Mercury’s extended stay in Scorpio in my tweet of October 3, 2019:

We have a couple of other events occurring before Venus enters Scorpio on October 8, 2019.  Mars enters Libra on October 4, 2019 where it stays until November 19, 2019. Mars in Libra is much more subdued and assertiveness is weakened.  Mars rules Aries, so it is definitely not in peak form in the sign of Libra.  It is literally considered to be in detriment when Mars is in Libra or Taurus because they are challenging signs for the action oriented planet to be transiting.  Vacillation is a key theme for Mars in Libra because we are able to see many different sides of an issue, which can lead to bouts of indecision.  And then there is the people pleasing side of Libra that hates to offend anyone.  Indirectness is a trademark feature of this transit and the shadow side of Mars in Libra is the tendency towards passive-aggressiveness.  But the good news is that since it takes Mars two years to complete a cycle, we only have to deal with this every two years.

On October 6, 2018, Mercury in Scorpio will be opposing retrograde Uranus in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Our thinking processes will be speeded up and we may experience some temporary tension and anxiety.  There is the potential for some flashes of genius to occur, but I wouldn’t recommend making any major decisions based on them.  Computers and electronics could malfunction as well.  The best way to deal with this energy is to literally go with the flow.

On October 8, 2019, Venus enters Scorpio until November 1, 2019.  Venus is in detriment in Scorpio, so between Mars in Libra and Venus in Scorpio in signs of detriment, relationships will feel like a roller coaster ride.  Venus in Scorpio can bring feelings of jealousy, obsessiveness and power struggles.  I have a natal Venus in Scorpio and I can attest to the fact that it is very emotional, intense and passionate.  When Venus is transiting Scorpio, our fears of being vulnerable or surrendering our power to others are heightened.  The bottom line with Venus in Scorpio is that relationships feel like they are all or nothing.  That is the nature of the beast that is Scorpio, a sign of extremes. With Mercury also in Scorpio and Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio, now direct and operating at full throttle in Capricorn, we are all going to be feeling the intensity of this Scorpio energy long before the sun enters Scorpio on October 23, 2019.  Hang on, it could be a very wild ride…

Mars Enters Libra, the Sun Enters Scorpio and Jupiter and the Sun Conjunct in Scorpio

Brace yourself, everyone because life is about to get a lot more interesting and intense.  I know, we are just coming off the heels of a volatile new moon in Libra that opposed Uranus in Aries, but there is much more drama to come.

On October 22, 2017, Mars enters the sign of Libra until December 9, 2017 and it will not be a happy camper there.  Mars is technically in the sign of detriment while transiting Libra.  Let’s face it, Mars is frustrated in Libra because the inherent nature of Mars is to be impulsive, urgent and it likes to act in a flashy manner.  This is why Mars rules Aries and is perfectly at home there.  Mars in Libra likes to win arguments with style and tends to trigger a lot of passive-aggressive energy. 

Mars in Libra is prone to vacillation and has a hard time making decisions.  Stalemate situations are not uncommon when Mars is in Libra.  There can be a lot of talk but not much action.  Mars in Libra loves to share ideas but acting on them is a whole different ball game.  There is also the potential for legal problems to arise when Mars is in Libra.  And they could be the kind that take a while to resolve, given the slowed down quality of Mars in Libra.  But the positive side of Mars transiting Libra is that people may be inclined to be more peace loving and diplomatic.

On October 23, 2017 on the east coast of the United States, the sun enters the sign of Scorpio.  Okay, I confess to being biased on this score because I am a proud Scorpio and it will be officially my season and literally my time in the sun. Scorpio is definitely not a sign for lightweights and is the most intense of all the highly emotional water signs.  It is the fixed water sign and the phrase “still waters run deep” is an accurate description for Scorpio.  Scorpio may have an icy exterior, but there is a deep reserve of feelings lying beneath. 

Scorpio is no stranger to extremes of emotion.  They have a hard time finding a middle ground and it has been frequently said that you either love or hate a Scorpio. They are very loyal to their friends, but if you cross a Scorpio, you couldn’t ask for a worse enemy. Vindictiveness is one of their least attractive qualities, right there along with jealousy and manipulativeness. 

When the sun is transiting Scorpio, desire, intensity and strong will be front and center.  Yes, Scorpio is dark, intense, passionate (it is aka the sex sign) and complex but the sun transiting the sign of Scorpio also has the potential to be the most healing and transformative time of the year.  Transformation is an integral part of the Scorpio nature. And with the sun in Scorpio we have the opportunity to shine a light into the shadows so that transformation can occur.  It will be a wild ride, but make the most of it.  I know that personally every year I am always stoked when the sun enters Scorpio but wind up heaving a sigh of relief when the sun enters Sagittarius in late November. That kind of intensity can only be lived through for a short amount of time.

But this year we have a special treat in store with the sun’s transit of Scorpio.  On October 26, 2017 Jupiter in 3 degrees of Scorpio conjuncts the sun.  The sun is conjunct Jupiter only once a year and it literally bestows blessings to whatever sign it falls in.  Scorpios will reap the benefits this year.  The sun conjunct Jupiter is a very positive aspect because it combines the sun’s power and will with Jupiter’s expansive quality.  Feelings of happiness, well-being and optimism will prevail.  The key word with Jupiter is expansion and it can occur in all areas of life, especially in relationships and wealth.  Scorpio is about intimate relationships and other people’s money, so when Jupiter touches it favorably, we can experience expansion and growth in these areas of life.  The only downside with this aspect is a tendency to be greedy or boastful.  If we are mindful of these potential pitfalls, we should have an amazing day,
