A Super Full Moon in Taurus Illuminates and Kicks off an Eventful November

The month of November started off with an exciting, energetic vibe with the moon in Aries opposing Mars in Aries, inspiring me to tweet:

This was the kickoff to the Super Full Moon in 12 degrees of Taurus on November 4, 2017 on the east coast of the United States. It’s called a supermoon because it is so close to the earth and should be breathtakingly beautiful and huge. Full moons are known for being times of completion and culmination when the fruits of our labors take form and secrets are revealed. Lately, there has been no shortage of secrets being revealed, especially in the area of sexual abuse and harassment. Jupiter in Scorpio is helping to expand our awareness on that issue.

This full moon in Taurus will literally light up our awareness by requiring us to release unhealthy attachments and chains that bind us. The moon in Taurus is attached to material goods and security while the sun in Scorpio is more attached to emotional security. Both are fixed signs and they can be stubborn and tenacious. They like to hang on to what they have and tend to fear losing what makes them feel secure. So we have our work cut for us on this score.

Venus is the ruler of this full moon while Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Sagittarius also feature prominently. Saturn in Sagittarius really started the ball rolling when it formed an exact square to Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces on November 2, 2017. This aspect served to put us in touch with our wounds and set us on the path to healing. Hopefully it triggered some compassion to facilitate that healing process. It inspired me to tweet:

I think that this tweet hit a collective nerve especially after the terrorist attack in Manhattan on Halloween.

But Venus in 25 degrees of Libra is really the star and choreographer of this full moon. Venus rules Taurus, the sign of this full moon. But on the same day of the full moon, Venus in Libra forms a challenging opposition to Uranus in 25 degrees of Aries. Relationship issues will be front and center with this aspect, mark my words. Finances and values, other Venus ruled issues, could also face some intense scrutiny with this aspect. Values will be challenged as well during this full moon. Venus opposing Uranus might cause some to shed stagnant relationship patterns. But if you have a solid relationship, this might be an opportune time to revitalize your relationship and get back on track. However, be mindful that if you meet someone new at this time, it just might be a short-lived relationship. Venus opposing Uranus doesn’t exactly create a recipe for stability in relationships.

I just want to add that if Venus is transiting either your first or seventh house at the time of this full moon, you will definitely feel the effects of this aspect and the full moon on your relationship. Transiting Venus in Libra is conjunct my Neptune in Libra in the first house and Uranus in Aries is transiting my seventh house, so I am trying to keep an open mind as to what unfolds. This full moon is also opposing my Saturn in Scorpio in the first house while the sun is conjunct my Saturn. This should be interesting…

Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces is forming a delightful, supportive trine to the sun in 11 degrees of Scorpio on November 3^rd, which could stir up our emotional and creative juices. Neptune in Pisces forms a sextile to the moon in 12 degrees of Taurus on the full moon, which will bring heightened sensitivity and emotions. These aspects should elicit an enhanced sense of compassion and spirituality, but since Neptune is also known for its dissolving qualities, it could empower us to let go of possessions or attachments that no longer serve our best interests.

And then there is Jupiter in Scorpio. It is conjunct the sun in Scorpio and opposing the full moon in Taurus, so we will be really focused on getting our basic security needs met. Jupiter in Scorpio will be only too happy to oblige on that front. Jupiter in Scorpio is also trine Neptune in Pisces. This is another highly supportive aspect which has a mystical quality and brings unconditional love and healing to the table. It can also accelerate transformation (Scorpio is the transformation poster child). Don’t be afraid to try new healing modalities with this influence. I know that this sounds like a shameless plug for Reiki, but give it a chance if you have never experienced Reiki.

Venus will be departing the sign of Libra to enter Scorpio on November 7, 2017 to join the rest of the Scorpio posse. It will remain there until December 1, 2017. But Mercury will leave Scorpio on November 5, 2017 to enter Sagittarius on November 5, 2017 as it prepares for the next Mercury retrograde, which charts on December 3, 2017. Mercury will be in Sagittarius until January 2, 2018, but at least it will station direct in 13 degrees of Sagittarius on December 22, 2017 in time for Christmas. This doesn’t bode well for purchasing electronics as gifts. More on this later and the effects of the Mercury retrograde shadow.

Jupiter Enters Scorpio for a Year of Expansive Rebirth

Are you still reeling from the shock of the Las Vegas shooting on October 1, 2017 and the full moon in Aries on October 5, 2017? I know that I am and I am definitely looking forward to some good astrological news on the horizon. Trust me, it is on the way in the form of Jupiter entering the sign of Scorpio on October 10, 2017.

I know that last week I wrote glowingly about Mars in 16 degrees of Virgo trining Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn on October 1^st and how it was such a positive aspect in terms of being assertive while maintaining harmony. Clearly, it did not manifest that way. I couldn’t resist looking at the chart for the time of the shooting, which was 10:08 p.m. on October 1.2017. Take a look:

The first thing that struck me about this chart was that Pluto in Capricorn fell in the 8^th house of death, transformation, rebirth and joint finances. Many people travel to Las Vegas to gamble as well as to see entertainment. And Mars in Virgo fell in the 4^th house of beginnings and endings in life. The ascendant for the time of the shooting was 21 degrees of Gemini, which symbolized how this shooting affected so many different people. The midheaven was in 0 degrees of Pisces and I instinctively felt that this represented the very public role of the victims. The moon was in 25 degrees of Aquarius conjunct the south node of the moon in 21 degrees of Aquarius, which probably explained the level of planning and detachment that Stephen Paddock, the shooter exhibited in carrying out his mission. I was also deeply troubled by the fact that the moon was conjunct the midheaven in 0 degrees of Pisces. This seemed to reinforce the theme that the perpetrator was completely detached and had absolutely no compassion for his victims. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, there is no time of birth available for Stephen Paddock, but his birth date is April 9, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa.

And then of course there was the aspect of Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries. They were exact in 27 degrees and this energy could have set off Stephen Paddock's Saturn Neptune conjunction in Libra that opposed his natal Venus in 25 degrees of Aries and his sun in 19 degrees of Aries. Aspects between Jupiter and Uranus can bring sudden and swift events that seem to come out of the blue. As of this writing, there has not been a motive discovered for this violent act. The only thing we know for sure is that Stephen Paddock was experiencing some mental health issues.

On October 4, 2017, we experienced one aspect that I felt offered us the opportunity to begin the process of moving on from this tragedy. It inspired me to tweet:

But Pluto continued to be a major player in the astrological drama of the full moon. On October 5, 2017 I tweeted:

Powerful #fullmoon in ♈️ today that squares Pluto in ♑️. Watch out for compulsive destructive behavior & power struggles. #astrology

Pluto kicks it up a notch again on October 9, 2017 when the sun and Mercury in 15 degrees of Libra are forming a square to Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn. We could be facing another day of intense power struggles.

But there is some light at the end of the tunnel when Jupiter enters the sign of Scorpio on October 10, 2017 and stays there until November 8, 2018. Scorpios are bound to be rejoicing when Jupiter the Great Benefic and Bestower of Good Luck (or as I prefer to call him, the astrological Santa Claus) enters its sun sign. All of the water signs will benefit (let’s hear it for Cancers and Pisces), as well as the earth signs of Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo, courtesy of Jupiter in Scorpio forming an easygoing sextile to Pluto in Virgo. This sextile will give tremendous power to Jupiter because Pluto is Scorpio’s ruling planet. We will be feeling the effects of this sextile on January 8-21, 2018, April 7-22, 2018 and September 7-18, 2018.

What are the areas of expansion that Jupiter in Scorpio will rule? Jupiter in Scorpio will see expansion in sexuality, death, rebirth, transformation, the greater mysteries in life, joint finances and taxes. Maybe we will finally get some positive changes in our tax laws. Major themes with Jupiter in Scorpio include using power to heal others and receiving resources from others. Jupiter in Scorpio will nudge us to dig deep and regenerate ourselves. The last time Jupiter transited the sign of Scorpio was from October 26, 2005 through November 23, 2006. You might find it helpful to think back to what was happening in your life back then and see if any similar issues crop up.

Jupiter in Scorpio will also be forming a beneficial trine to Neptune in Pisces from November 28- December 5, 2017, May 20 –June 1, 2018 and August 12 – 23, 2018. Jupiter trining Neptune is a boon for psychic sensitivity, prophetic dreams and feelings of compassion will intensify. This aspect is really a blessing.

One of the most encouraging facts about this particular Jupiter in Scorpio transit is that unlike the recent transit of Jupiter in Libra, which was anything but harmonious, there are no challenging aspects from the outer planets. Jupiter in Libra faced a tough opposition to Uranus in Aries and a square to Pluto in Capricorn. For many people, this seemed to perpetuate the effects of the Uranus Pluto squares that pervaded the astrological landscape from 2012 through 2015. Jupiter in Scorpio will be playing nice with Pluto and Uranus, which is a welcome relief.

For me personally, Jupiter in Scorpio will begin its transit in my 1^st house, conjuncting my natal Mercury in Scorpio on October 10^th and then conjuncting my natal Pallas and Saturn in Scorpio in early December. But it moves into my 2^nd house on December 24^th (Merry Christmas) and then conjuncts my Scorpio sun in January 2018. Happy New Year!
