Make Way for the Ram as Aries Season Kicks into High Gear

Are you feeling cranky lately? If so, there is a perfectly cogent explanation.  We are heading into Aries season.  The Sun enters Aries on March 20, 2017, but Venus is already in Aries and Mercury entered Aries on March 13, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:

I don’t know about you, but I felt that Mercury in Aries energy immediately.  Maybe because Mercury’s entrance into Aries inconjuncted my natal Mercury in Scorpio and I became quite testy and cranky.  Let’s face it, both Aries and Scorpio are ruled by Mars, so communication can get downright cantankerous and hot-tempered.  The least little thing set me off that day and continues to.  And Venus in Aries, a sign of its detriment, is also known for being somewhat disagreeable. For me, maybe it’s just a case of little too much fire energy mixing with my Scorpio energy.  It reared its ugly head on March 16th too when the Scorpio moon inconjuncted Venus in Aries.  On that day I tweeted:
On March 18, 2017, Mercury will conjunct Venus in Aries.  This too can be a somewhat edgy vibe as it gives us pause to review old relationships and friends in a positive light. Venus is still retrograde, so that theme of review is still up for grabs. Mercury in Aries does give us the courage to speak up and express what is on our mind.  But Mercury and Venus conjunct still has the power to conjure up some good manners.  I am planning a birthday celebratory luncheon with a friend and plan to have a good time and behave myself.
The Sun enters the sign of Aries on March 20, 2017 at 6:29 a.m. and is also known as the Spring Equinox or the first day of Spring.  For many of us on the east coast of the United States, that may not provide much comfort given the recent nor’easter storm we just experienced this past week.

But before everyone thinks that I hate the sign of Aries, let me set the record straight.  Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and it is only fitting that it be associated with the season of spring.  The symbol for Aries is the ram, and it has many positive qualities.  Aries is active, direct, courageous, aggressive, energetic and quite innovative, given that it is a cardinal sign.  Cardinal signs are movers and shakers, no doubt about it.  Aries is the perfect sign to initiate new projects and is a born entrepreneur.  If you want a fresh start, count on an Aries to give it to you because blazing new trails is in their astrological DNA.  Aries is the cardinal sign ruled by Mars, so it goes with the territory that it can at times be impulsive, impatient and possess a sharp temper and quick fuse.   One really positive thing about that sharp temper is that it does not have a tendency to hold grudges.  An Aries temper may blow hot, but it blows over quickly.  It is definitely not in the same league as Scorpio, whose temper simmers, stuffs their feelings and holds grudges big-time.  So on many levels, I am very grateful for that Aries energy emerging and literally giving us a breath of fresh air.

And don’t forget that Venus is still retrograde in Aries.  It remains in Aries until April 4. 2017 when it slides back into its sign of exaltation, Pisces. But Venus re-enters Aries on April 29, 2017 in direct motion until June 6, 2017.  So Venus has an extended tour in the sign of Aries this year.  It started in my 5th house and will enter my 6th house on May 23, 2017.  If you are curious as to how this Venus retrograde transit is impacting you, please consider purchasing my Venus Retrograde special for only $25.  Just email met at lindasim54@gmail.com to request it.

A Whole Lotta Earth Energy as Mars Enters Taurus and a Full Moon in Virgo

The planetary ambience is taking on a whole new dimension these days as the element of earth joins the fire and water party.  We still have the sun, Mercury, Chiron and Neptune in Pisces, but the sun and Mercury will be leaving Pisces soon. Saturn is still in Sagittarius and Uranus remains in Aries, but Mars has officially left the sign of Aries.  It entered the earth sign of Taurus on March 9th, inspiring me to tweet:
Mars is not comfortable in Taurus because the slow, plodding, stubborn traits that describe Taurus are not a good fit for the action oriented planet of Mars.  Mars is much more comfortable in Aries and Scorpio, but perhaps on some level we should be grateful that Mars has left the impetuous, impulsive sign of Aries because it certainly stirred up a great deal of restless cardinal energy since it entered Aries on January 28th.  Mars in Taurus is much more cautious and measured.  It is literally in the game for the long haul but its slow and steady approach can still generate much anger and frustration nonetheless because it values the end result more than the process.  But what else can you expect from Taurus, which is ruled by Venus?  This also means that while Mars is transiting the sign of Taurus until April 20, 2017 that we may find ourselves more attracted to material goods and the finer things in life.

On March 12, 2017 we have an extremely intense full moon in 22 degrees of Virgo.  This particular full moon involves two signs, the sun in Pisces and moon in Virgo, hat contain themes of service to others.  Our dreams and sense of spirituality (Pisces) are colliding with the practicality of the Virgo moon. If we are to make optimal use of this full moon energy, we need to work that Pisces sun to reflect on our dreams while paying attention to the details that Virgo is so renowned for.  A major theme of this full moon in Virgo is to achieve a sense of balance and get it right so that we can indeed manifest our dreams.

Ironically, Mars in Taurus will be helping us during this full moon because it will be trining the north node in Virgo and sextiling the south node in Pisces.  It is a stabilizing force with that Virgo moon and its easy, flowing aspects to the nodes of the moon supports us on our spiritual path to move forward and release what is no longer serving us. It is a boost of energy that kicks that karmic baggage to the curb.

There is more earth energy involved in this Virgo full moon.  It also forms a beautiful trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn.  The trine to Pluto in Capricorn facilitates deep transformation by granting us access to deep reserves of power and strength that we may not have known we possessed.

We also have some cardinal energy adding to the mix during the full moon.  The ongoing opposition between Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries increases our desire for excitement and personal freedom.   So this will not be a dull full moon!

The Pisces planets also feature prominently in this full moon.  Besides the sun, Chiron and Mercury in Pisces get in on the act.  Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces conjuncts the sun and opposes the moon in Virgo, reminding us not to let our emotions and old wounds get the best of us.  But Mercury in Pisces squaring off with Saturn in Sagittarius is also a key player in this full moon.  This aspect will definitely pose major challenges to communications and provide a big time reality check.  It can be a somewhat frustrating time, especially if we feel like we are running into brick walls, but the key to surviving and prospering as a result of this aspect is to give up our resistance.  Don’t ever forget that Pisces is all about surrender. We may not be able to control what is happening in the world these days, but we can adopt a policy of surrendering to it and trusting that we do have a choice and free will in terms of how we respond to certain situations.  Do we act out of fear and anxiety or do we respond with the courage to move forward?

This full moon in Virgo is falling in my 12th house and I am certainly hoping that I can have the courage to embrace the high spiritual road.   The moon will be sextiling my sun and retrograde Venus in Scorpio while the Pisces sun trines them.  But Mercury and Chiron in Pisces are also trining not only my sun and Venus in Scorpio, but also my Cancer midheaven and retrograde Uranus in Cancer. A highly emotional grand water trine.  It is still up for grabs as to how this will play out for me.  I have been known to have meltdowns on previous Virgo full moons, so I am trying to be mindful of the potential havoc it can wreak.  The 12th house can be an astrological wild card, so to speak.

The full moon in 22 degrees of Virgo will be forming an exact T- square to President Donald Trump’s sun in 22 degrees of Gemini.  With both the moon and sun squaring his natal sun, this could manifest in even more outrageous behavior and adopting the victim/martyr role on an even more elevated level.  The blame game could rise to unprecedented heights this coming weekend.

Mercury leaves the sign of Pisces and enters Aries on March 13, 2017.  The gloves will be off and communication takes on a more urgent, immediate gratification vibe.  No more sugar coating like with Mercury in Pisces.  Communication will be swift and direct.  And the next Mercury retrograde will feature Mercury in Aries for a portion of its duration.  Mercury will enter Taurus on April 1st, but will station retrograde in 4 degrees of Taurus on April 9th and re-enter Aries on April 29th during the Mercury retrograde transit.  Mercury will station direct in 24 degrees of Aries on May 3, 3017 and re-enter Taurus on May 16, 2017

If you are wondering how this full moon or the Venus Retrograde transit will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading with me.  I am currently offering a Venus Retrograde special for only $25.  Just email me at lindasim54@gmail.com and request the Venus Retrograde special.

Venus Retrogrades for a Relationship Reset

Prepare for a reset period in your relationships, values and finances because Venus will be stationing retrograde in 13 degrees of Aries on March 4, 2017 through April 15, 2017 when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Pisces.  Some of you may already be experiencing this reevaluation period because Venus entered the retrograde shadow period on January 30, 2017. Venus clears its retrograde shadow period on May 19th in 13 degrees of Aries.

Venus doesn’t retrograde very often; it only happens about every 18 months.  The last time it happened was from late July through early September of 2015 in the signs of Virgo and Leo.  Venus retrograde doesn’t wreak the havoc that the notorious Mercury retrograde inflicts because that one occurs four times a year.  And because of its rare occurrence, less people are born with Venus retrograde; approximately 1 in 10 people have it in their natal chart.  I am in that category, so this is a very personal topic for me.

What can you expect when Venus is retrograde?  For starters, don’t be surprised if old lovers turn up seemingly out of the woodwork.  I always advise my clients not to get married during a Venus retrograde because this particular transit has a way of making you reevaluate your relationships, in addition to your finances and values, which also come under the jurisdiction of Venus.  Venus retrograde will force you to reevaluate your relationships and priorities to determine what makes you happy.  What makes you happy during a Venus retrograde may not be the case when Venus stations direct.  In January I watched a fascinating webinar with Michael Lutin on Pluto and Chiron and he dispensed some sage advice on the upcoming Venus retrograde.  He recommended writing down your feelings on love now and sealing it in an envelope to be opened on April 20, 2017.  Why April 20th and not April 15th, when Venus stations direct?  Because retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius will be squaring Venus in Pisces on that day and there is no way of avoiding reality when Saturn is involved.

Venus is not a happy camper in Aries due to it being in one of its signs of detriment.  The other sign where Venus is in detriment is Scorpio, which I also have.  And Venus in Virgo is in fall, which was the scene of the last Venus retrograde in 2015.  Venus in Aries is very me focused, which doesn’t bode well for relationships. But having Venus retrograde in Aries may increase our awareness of any imbalances in relationships, such as one person is doing too much giving. The most constructive action that you can take during the Venus retrograde in Aries period (until April 2nd) is to appreciate yourself and avoid becoming too narcissistic.  And watch out for anger to erupt too because Aries has no problem expressing anger. When Venus enters Pisces on April 2, 2017, it will be in its place of exaltation.  Venus in Pisces is a more selfless placement and compassion just seems to flow naturally.

I also caution my clients to be careful about embarking on new relationships when Venus is retrograde.  Relationships begun under the auspices of a Venus retrograde may be based more on physical attraction rather than true compatibility. .This could definitely be the case during this particular Venus retrograde because it begins in Aries, the ruler of Mars. Try to be realistic about meeting your soulmate under this transit; the likelihood is just not that strong.  You don’t want to wake up on April 20th when Venus in Pisces is direct and squaring Saturn in Sagittarius moaning, “What was I thinking and who is this person next to me?”

Venus also rules finances and values, so they are also subject to the process of reevaluation and reset.  If you get involved with someone during the Venus retrograde and they don’t share your values, conflicts could emerge when Venus is direct.  I also advise my clients not to purchase any luxury items during a Venus retrograde because you may find your tastes totally changed by the time Venus is direct.  If you must indulge, be sure there is a generous return policy. The only exception to this rule is if you buy something that is used because it tends to represents a valued item that belonged to someone else.  It is well documented that many people find great bargains at estate sales, yard sales and flea markets during Venus retrograde. So there is a way of shopping without suffering buyer’s remorse.  And since Venus also rules beauty, it’s not a great time for a huge change in one’s appearance.  Don’t get your hair cut too short or you may crying about it in April when Venus is direct.  And postpone any cosmetic surgery if you can.  That new nose or face may not suit you in April or May.

The Venus retrograde transit will be happening in my 6th house, so I am anticipating a reevaluation and reset of my daily routine, health and work.  I do have several doctor’s appointments scheduled during March and while I hope these checkups deliver good news, I know that if any problems are found, I am responsible for initiating a reset to get back on track if necessary.

If you are curious as to how this extended Venus retrograde in Aries and Pisces period will affect you, please consider getting an astrological reading with me.  A little insight is always a powerful tool.  Just ask for the Venus Retrograde Special, which will be $25 through the month of April 2017.  Contact me directly at lindasim54@gmail.com.

Mars in Aries has been pretty busy recently too. Mars in Aries has been causing a great deal of turmoil since the February eclipses.  On February 27, 2017 Mars in Aries opposed Jupiter in Libra, prompting me to tweet:

But Mars in Aries will be delivering some positive vibes on March 5, 2017 when it trines Saturn in Sagittarius in 26 degrees of their respective signs.  This aspect will sharpen our focus and reward us for our hard work and following the rules.  I love it when we get an aspect with themes of productivity and reaping rewards.  This aspect also forms a grand fire trine with my Pluto in Leo, so I am looking forward to it.  I wish all of my readers a productive, rewarding day.

Recently I undertook an intensive life purpose coaching training program and became certified as a Life Purpose Coach.  It was an intense, eye-opening experience that changed my life as it caused me to reflect on the story of my life.  But I left it with feelings of hope and light for the future that I want to share with others.  To that end, I am now offering Life Purpose Coaching to my menu of services.  You can read more about it at:

A Mystical Solar Eclipse in Pisces Calls for Release

We are currently in the midst of a magical mystery tour of the season of Pisces which hits its high note on February 26, 2017 with a solar eclipse in 8 degrees of Pisces. The sun entered Pisces on February 18th, inspiring me to tweet:

Not only will the sun and moon be in Pisces, but Chiron, Neptune, the south node and Mercury will also be in Pisces.  Mercury enters Pisces on February 25, 2017.  Communications take on a more compassionate tone, but there can be some fuzziness and clarity may be sacrificed.  Pardon the pun.

The Piscean themes of surrender, creativity, forgiveness, acceptance and release are amplified with this extremely intense solar eclipse.  It will be a highly emotional time, especially in the uber-sensitive water sign of Pisces. The prelude to this eclipse actually began being felt on February 21, 2017 when the sun in Pisces conjuncted the south node in 3 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect brought up elements of the past for review that needed to be released with love and forgiveness.  With such a heavy emphasis in Pisces, this aspect also indicates a need to let go of old fantasies that are no longer serving us and are in the long run impeding our progress.

Solar eclipses are renowned for being times of new beginnings, but a solar eclipse in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, places a heavy emphasis on the need to let go and surrender something before that new beginning can occur.  I don’t know if any of you watch the TV show This is Us, but I thought that the episode that aired on February 21, 2017 was quite symbolic of this aspect.  It had a very Piscean flavor in that its storyline focused on a dying man who was trying to make peace by going home one last time to make amends to a relative he had hurt years earlier. The fact that the character was a recovering addict was no accident and this episode of the series was reputed to have been the most tear jerking one so far.

This solar eclipse in Pisces is very complicated because of all the players and the anxiety that it generates. On February 22, 2017, Mars in Aries squared Pluto in Capricorn, which is highly indicative of power struggles and confrontations.  The fact that the Capricorn moon conjuncted Pluto only added fuel to that fire and provoked more anxiety.  On that day I tweeted:
We face another stressful aspect from Mars in Aries on the day of the eclipse when it conjuncts Uranus in 22 degrees of Aries. All I can say in terms of giving advice on coping with this aspect is to think before you act because it will feel very natural to give in to impulsive actions and reckless abandon.  Mars is also conjunct Eris in Aries, which symbolizes the spiritual warrior.  The fight against injustice and oppression could trigger even more protests this weekend because this aspect evokes the peace and love themes that characterized the Uranus Pluto conjunction in Virgo during the 1960’s.   But this solar eclipse features Venus, Mars, Uranus and Eris in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn and opposing Jupiter in Libra in a tight T-square.  This really amps up the nervous tension.  It also increases the likelihood of accidents and sudden changes in health.

A calmer attitude prevailed on February 23rd when Mercury sextiled Saturn.  On that day I tweeted:
The stressful aspects to Pluto, Uranus and Mars during this solar eclipse may tempt us to go into denial mode, especially with Neptune in Pisces conjunct the eclipse.  That is Neptune conjunct both the sun and moon, don’t forget, so it packs a real escapist punch.  But the best course of action is to face reality wherever 8 degrees of Pisces is falling in your chart.  For me, it is in my 5th house, which can be a veritable playground for escapism.  And it trines my south node in Cancer, which is stirring up issues from my past.  If you are wondering how this eclipse is affecting you, consider getting an astrological reading with me to obtain more insight into releasing karmic baggage from your past that no longer serves you and moving forward. This is a south node solar eclipse, so letting go is a prerequisite.

While the effects of this eclipse may sound ominous, there are definitely ways it can manifest its magic.  How do you channel this energy constructively?  For starters, pay attention to your dreams and your intuition for at least three days preceding this solar eclipse in Pisces.  Visualize what you want to achieve, because Pisces is so intertwined with dreams and intuition.  And recognize that while Mars in Aries can be disruptive with its aspects to Uranus and Pluto, the flip side of the coin is that it can be energizing.  Yes, Uranus is literally being activated by Mars in Aries, but try to remember that Uranus is getting a boost from Saturn in Sagittarius courtesy of the ongoing trine throughout the year of 2017.  With both Uranus and Saturn in fire signs, the universe is giving us an adrenaline boost of energy to ground those new ideas.

The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am still channeling that Virgo north node energy by offering my Reiki services.  If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.

I also began seeing clients on Sunday afternoons in Coolidge Corner, Brookline for Reiki treatments on February 5, 2017.  I actually signed the paperwork on the office sublet on January 27th, the day of the new moon in Aquarius, and when I opened for business on February 5th, Venus was in Aries in my 6th house.  Talk about working that entrepreneurial spirit!   You can learn more about my expanded practice, including the hours and address at:

I have also launched an endeavor that will deliver my services to you at an affordable cost in the form of package deals.  I am offering four options: Silver, Gold, Platinum and a Tarot special for my tarot clients. Please check it out at:

The Sun Swims into Pisces and Mars Squares off with Pluto

We may be in that limbo period between eclipses (the first lunar eclipse of 2017 occurred on February 10th and we have an upcoming solar eclipse on February 26th in Pisces), but that doesn’t mean that this is a fallow period astrologically.  Far from it.

The season of Aquarius is coming to a close.  It was an interesting and inspiring time, to say the least and it had its share of positive aspects.  One of the nicest aspects occurred on February 11, 2017 when the sun in Aquarius trined Jupiter in Libra, inspiring me to tweet:
The Sun enters the mutable water sign of Pisces on February 18, 2017.  The sun in Pisces is a much more emotional period than the cool, detached air sign of Aquarius that preceded it.  We tend to be more intuitive, creative, and sensitive when the sun is in Pisces. It can indeed be a kinder, gentler time when kindness and compassion prevail. Altruistic feelings are stirred as we become more empathetic.  That is the highest nature of Neptune, the ruling planet of Pisces.  But the lower vibration of Pisces leans towards escapism, addictions, and getting stuck in the victim/martyr role, so be on guard against these potential manifestations.

The sun in Pisces will also be conjunct Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces on March 2, 2017 and will also conjunct Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces on March 15, 2017.  Both of these aspects are beneficial for compassionate gestures, a heightened sense of spirituality and creativity and healing.  Astrologically speaking, it’s a trifecta of Pisces, with the sun, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, which is a major invitation to dream, flex those creative muscles, rest, and engage in some major healing.  And the piece de resistance is a solar eclipse in Pisces on February 26, 2017!

I always love it when the sun is in Pisces, despite the fact that it is winter.  The sun transits my 5th and 6th houses, so it feels right at home.  I find myself energized creatively and I try to focus on improving my health and daily routines.  For a healer, having the sun in Pisces is a real boon for my work.  It doesn’t hurt that all that lovely Pisces energy trines my Scorpio and Cancer planets, either.  If you are wondering how the sun’s transit through Pisces will affect you, consider getting an astrological reading so that you can reap the spiritually enlightening benefits of this transit.

There is one major challenging aspect that we face before the solar eclipse in 8 degrees of Pisces on February 26, 2017 and it is a doozy.  On February 22, 2017, Mars in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn in 18 degrees of their respective signs.  This is a pretty heavy duty aspect that contains strong themes of power struggles and confrontations.  It can manifest in violent behavior and represents the collective need for change and transformation.  Mars and Pluto are definitely not lightweight planets. The best advice that I can give anyone for dealing with this aspect is to not start any fights or make enemies because you will lose.

Mars squaring Pluto feels like life is challenging or resisting our efforts.  It’s all about power, force and violence.  This particular hit will be quite strong because Mars is fierce in its home sign of Aries.  Feelings of frustration and anger accompany it as well.  It literally feels like the heat is building up like a pressure cooker.  Don’t be surprised if old fears and obsessions rear their ugly heads as they return for a final purge.  Ironically, on the same day the sun in Pisces is conjunct the south node in three degrees of Pisces and this has a potent theme of releasing old karmic baggage.  The solar eclipse on February 26th will only amplify that message.

I confess that this particular aspect has me a little concerned in terms of how it is aspecting my chart.  Both Mars and Pluto will be squaring my Libra ascendant and my Cancer midheaven, which is a lot of cardinal energy shaking.  And then there is my Chiron in Capricorn, which faces a wide (6 degrees) conjunction from Pluto and a square from Mars.  I’m sure that it won’t be a dull day and I would do well to heed the advice that I frequently dispense to my clients: BREATHE!  And a little meditation won’t hurt, either.

As an astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign and house placement as part of my coaching program.  After all, The New Year, especially a Universal Year 1, is a marvelous time to navigate a new direction in your life that will fulfill you and your soul’s purpose. If you are feeling stuck and need some help in getting from Point A to Point B in your quest for making positive changes in your life, please email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to schedule a complementary telephone consultation to discover if you are a good fit for this program.  I look forward to hearing from you.
