Saturn Retrogrades in Aries, the Nodes Move into Aquarius and Leo, and a Full Moon in Aquarius

 

The cosmic hits keep on coming in July.  Mercury is FINALLY direct as of July 23 after an excruciatingly brutal and emotional Mercury retrograde that began on June 29, but Saturn is stationing retrograde in 14 degrees of Aries on July 26.  Saturn will remain retrograde until December 10, when it goes direct in 7 degrees of Aries.

What can we expect with Saturn retrograde?  This is a time of major reality checks.  Responsibilities are a key theme and if we have been slacking off, we will have to face them now, no two ways about it.  There could be more responsibilities added to our plate too.  Delays in progress are another component of Saturn retrograde.  This is a period when we need to slow down and review our goals.  Do not launch new projects now and expect them to succeed right off the bat.  Old problems could resurface now.  Saturn retrograde in Aries asks us to rebuild our courage while dealing with fear so that we can grow into greater self-responsibility.  For me, it's happening in my 6th house and I have no doubt that it will affect my health and daily routines.

The Nodes of the Moon are also changing signs on July 26.  The North Node moves into Aquarius on that day while the South Node moves into Leo after having been in Pisces and Virgo since January 12, 2025. The North Node represents what our soul is trying to achieve and it can definitely require some effort while the South Node is all about what comes naturally to us, the path of least resistance.

The North Node of the Moon will be in Aquarius until March 26, 2028.  When the North Node is in Aquarius, we are striving to take actions that serve the greater good and humanity. Power to the people is a major theme.  It is a time to strengthen social support networks and engage in some teamwork.  Technology can be prominently featured.  The South Node in Leo is asking us to release excessive focus on ego, self-centered behaviors and the need for constant attention.  In other words, we need to ditch the drama and find more responsible forms of leadership.

The last time the Nodes of the Moon were in Aquarius was from December 19, 2007 through August 21, 2009.  You might find it helpful to reflect on what issues you faced in your life back then.

We have a great deal of planetary activity on July 27.  The Sun in Leo is opposing Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius.  The Sun opposing Pluto can bring power struggles as deep-seated emotions like jealousy, obsession, manipulation and control surface.  We could find ourselves experiencing a compulsive urge to assert power and take control of our lives.  We might need to accept that situations are out of our control while surrendering the need for total domination.  Obviously this can be easier said than done,

The Sun in Leo is also trining Neptune in 4 degrees of Aries on July 27. This increases our sensitivity to the environment and sense of empathy for others.  It's also a boon for creative projects.  Intuition is strong and our dreams could be quite vivid.

The Sun in Leo forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in 4 degrees of Gemini on the same day.  Pleasant surprises could be on the horizon and stimulating encounters.  We want to try new and exciting things as we crave freedom. Once again, the theme of creativity soars.

On July 29 we have a Full Moon in 6 degrees of Aquarius that promises to deliver quite a punch and rock our world. A Full Moon in Aquarius emphasizes bigger thoughts and visions with a focus on group dynamics. Spoiler alert, we are not done with the Barbault Basket yet because this Full Moon is still in orb of all those outer planets in 4 degrees.  The Full Moon is conjunct Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius, which can be life changing.  Don't discount the power of Pluto in this Full Moon. This will give us more insight into the motivations people have and trigger some fears.  Relationships are bound to change significantly and emotional patterns could be breaking down. A Full Moon conjunct Pluto can deliver deep intense feelings that are overwhelming and/or overpowering as we encounter subconscious fears.  Obsession and turbulence are possible.  Emotional challenges related to power and vulnerability are likely.  Paranoia and jealousy could rear their ugly heads as well. Watch out for manipulation by others or yourself.

Venus in Virgo is also squaring Mars in 21 degrees of Gemini on the Full Moon.  Venus squaring Mars can bring impulsiveness, anger, passion, lack of self-control and feelings of irritation.  Conflict with partners is possible.  We could also wind up engaging in some spending sprees.

The Sun and Jupiter are also conjunct in 6 degrees of Leo on the Full Moon.  Our confidence will be super-charged but it can also add to the drama level.   But there is a protective influence present with the Sun and Jupiter conjunct.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Barbault Basket Ushers in A New Era of Change, the Sun Enters Leo and Mercury Goes Direct

 

This is the week in July that the universe has been waiting for.  Astrologers have long been predicting that the second half of July would usher in a new world order.  It is called the Barbault Basket, named after the French mundane astrologer Andre Barbault who studied groups of outer planets and how they formed configurations to forecast global shifts.  He called it the planetary cyclical index.  These planets involved Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.  He died in 2019 after predicting that 2020 would bring a reset in humanity involving another pandemic.  How can we forget the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn back that occurred in January 2020 and resulted in a lockdown during March 2020? The Barbault Basket is referred to as the most important transit of this century.  It is activated from July 15-24, 2026.

The planets involved are Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius.  They are all in 4 degrees of their respective signs. Planets in fire and air signs tend to create movement and momentum. We are talking trines and sextiles with an opposition from Jupiter in Leo to Pluto in Aquarius. This actually started on July 15 when Uranus in Gemini formed a supportive sextile to Neptune in Aries. A door could have opened and a real breakthrough might have emerged to give us more freedom.

On July 18 Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius and we will feel the effects of this transit through July 21, 2026.  Power and progress are working together, which is a huge change from the Uranus-Pluto squares of 2012 when everything seemed to be crashing down in our world.

The focal point of this basket happens on July 20 when Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius.  Jupiter represents belief, optimism and faith while Pluto is all about transformation and power. Jupiter is the fastest moving outer planet for global influence.  With Pluto in Aquarius there will be a huge emphasis on networks, technology and communities.  Leadership is symbolized by Jupiter in Leo facing off with Pluto in Aquarius, which wants to restructure how power moves through groups and infrastructures.  I would be remiss if I did not state that this can lead to power struggles on the world front...

Jupiter in Leo is also trining Neptune in Aries on July 20.  This can manifest as ideological missions with some potential for manipulation of the masses, as in cults. But it does help us to think outside of the box though.

On July 21 Jupiter in Leo will be forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in Gemini.  This can deliver insight and sudden unexpected good luck.  We are craving positive changes in life and freedom.

The important thing to remember is that all of these planets are in 4 degrees.  This is quite a historical lineup and if you have planets in 4 degrees, pretty much in any signs, but especially in fire and air signs, you will definitely feel the impact of this lineup. While the Jupiter-Pluto opposition is the driving force of this basket, don't forget those supportive sextiles and trines involving Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries.

This new world we are headed into probably be won't be the smoothest ride, but it began under very harsh and austere conditions back in 2020.  We are just beginning to turn a corner from leaving that old world behind for good, so try to have a little grace, patience and resilience as we find our way forward.

The Sun enters Leo on July 22, 2026.  The energy is fixed fire, more proud, playful and creative.  We want to shine, be admired and have fun. Our self-confidence is at an all-time high.  The Sun rules Leo, so it's a very happy camper now.  Let that inner child out to play now.

On the following day, July 23, Mercury goes direct in 16 degrees of Cancer.  It has had a particularly long retrograde, as it stationed in 26 degrees of Cancer on June 29.  It's been especially moody and emotional in the cardinal water sign of Cancer.  If you have been reflecting on the emotional roots of your thoughts and patterns, you are not alone.  Childhood memories have literally come home to roost.  Mark your calendar for July 23 to be a day of rejoicing!  Just be advised that while communication and transportation snafus should start to lift, Mercury officially clears its retrograde shadow on August 6, 2026 when it hits 26 degrees of Cancer.

The Sun and Mercury Cazimi in Cancer and a New Moon in Cancer Herald an Emotional Reset

 

The Cancer energy is quite literally flowing, as water tends to do, all over the place this week.  On July 12, the Sun and retrograde Mercury are Cazimi in 20 degrees of Cancer. This simply means that Mercury is in the center of the Sun's rays.  Mercury is retrograde until July 23, but on this day we could get some real insights and emotional breakthroughs from what has already transpired in this Mercury retrograde that began on June 29.  It can provide a measure of mental clarity and a reset in the middle of this retrograde.  Pay close attention to any insights that arrive, either through dreams, conversations or even social media posts.  Our instincts and intuitive powers are functioning at full strength now.

The Sidera app makes a very cogent observation regarding Mercury Retrograde. But here’s what most people miss: Mercury retrograde is not just a warning label. It is a timing pattern that shows where your communication, assumptions, and decision-making habits need a second look. The useful question is not “Will everything go wrong?” It is “Where am I rushing past details, feelings, or facts that need more honesty?”

Venus in Virgo is exactly squaring Uranus in 4 degrees of Gemini on July 13. This can bring relationship tensions, sudden changes of mind and financial upsets.  This is setting the stage for the New Moon in 22 degrees of Cancer on July 14.  Venus in Virgo will also conjunct the South Node of the Moon in 1 degree of Virgo on the New Moon, which has an element of releasing the past, signifying an ending of something in our lives that no longer serves our highest good.

There is a strong theme of emotional resets and redefinition of what home/family means to us on the New Moon in Cancer.  Since New Moons are all about setting intentions, this New Moon will involve planting seeds for home, family and long-term security.  There will also be a great deal of nostalgia around this New Moon because Cancer loves to reflect on the past. Emotional pain will be brought to the surface.  The New Moon in 22 degrees of Cancer is conjunct Mercury, which helps facilitate introspection and reassessing old family patterns while affording us the opportunity to communicate feelings more honestly.  Mercury retrograde is heightening our awareness of the past.  We have a strong heart-mind connection on this New Moon.  If you have planets around 20-25 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will feel the effects of this New Moon acutely.

This New Moon in Cancer is also setting off the December 21, 2025 square between Jupiter in 22 degrees of Cancer and Chiron in 22 degrees of Aries.  A Jupiter-Chiron square is very uncomfortable and can feel like a dark night of the soul.  Back in December, we probably experienced a great deal of tension pertaining to caring for others and prioritizing our own boundaries.  The New Moon can reveal the hidden pain from that period in time because Cancer is very unconscious, deep watery energy and  can give us a new understanding so that we are able to reevaluate our personal story.  More healing, self-compassion, empathy and self-understanding can arise to release us from situations that arose in December 2025. We could be realizing that it's okay to be vulnerable and give ourselves a little grace. The emotional reset that we thought would never arrive could happen as a result of this New Moon.

Both Jupiter and Chiron entered new signs recently.  Jupiter entered Leo on June 30 and Chiron entered Taurus on June 19.  They formed an exact square again in 0 degrees of Leo and Taurus on July 1. This time the square in fixed signs had a theme of tension between bold self-expression and needing more grounding. It still could have been painful though.

We are headed towards more changes that happen quickly as the month of July continues.  Old stories are about to be released.  Hope exists and there will be more optimism.  Be aware that planets in 4 degrees of fire and air are converging in trines and sextiles: Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius, Uranus in 4 degrees of Gemini, Neptune in 4 degrees of Aries and Jupiter in 4 degrees of Leo.  Jupiter in Leo will give us the courage to take a risk and be seen, so stay tuned for more revolutionary changes to come that set us on the path for a new course in life that will extend into the rest of this decade.  In many ways, we are finally finding our way back from the pandemic that began in 2020.

Mars and Uranus Conjunct in Gemini for a Potentially Explosive 4th of July, Neptune Retrogrades and Venus Moves into Virgo

 

The month of July could be the most pivotal one yet in this incredibly intense year. We are officially in the second half of 2026 as the changes are coming fast and furious. On July 4, Mars and Uranus are conjunct in 4 degrees of Gemini.  This energy is volatile, disruptive and unpredictable especially pertaining to communication, information and technology. And Mercury, the planet that rules Gemini, is retrograde until July 23.  I don't know about you, but I certainly felt the hit on June 29 when Mercury stationed retrograde in Cancer on the Full Moon. I was trying to call a family member when my phone died.  You can't make this stuff up! Then my computer couldn't read a flash drive.

When Mars and Uranus are conjunct in Gemini, watch out for impulsive communication, but there is also the potential for breakthroughs.  We want to break free of limiting situations and also run the risk of mental overstimulation. Quite literally, anything could happen with this conjunction.  The last time we had a Mars-Uranus conjunction in Gemini was in mid-August 1945 right after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This signified heightened technological innovations at the end of World War II.  Of course the United States has a history of being involved in wars during Uranus in Gemini: the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and World War II.  Now we have the war in Iran.

Mars in Gemini is trining Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius on July 5.  It's nice to see these two powerhouse planets getting along.  We can expect a surge of goal-oriented energy that fosters cooperation and highlights leadership potential. We have more endurance and confidence.  Magnetism is off the charts and deep soul level connections can be formed.  We can also break old habits through sheer will.  It's a perfect combination of courage and focus, so make the most of this day.

On July 6, the Sun in Cancer is squaring Saturn in 14 degrees of Aries.  Spoiler alert: tests and challenges can occur which make us feel depressed and pessimistic.  We can be confronted with more responsibilities and avoiding them is not a wise option. Progress can seem very slow and delays are common.  Try to think of it as a reality check.  We also might have issues with authority figures or just plain feel more tired.  Saturn has a way of depleting our energy.  If you have planets in the middle degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will feel the impact of this aspect acutely.

Neptune turns retrograde in 4 degrees of Aries on July 7 until December 12.  Neptune retrograde marks the end of illusions and mental fog.  Frankly, it can be a lot easier to deal with than Mercury retrograde. It is a total reality check because we need to confront our idealistic visions to determine if our goals are true to our calling.  We have an opportunity to blend intuitive compassion with assertive courage.

Venus enters Virgo on July 9 until August 6.  Love is less flashy and we tend to express our affections through practical means, perhaps by performing acts of service or by taking care of others.  Venus in Virgo can also increase our desire to improve our health and be more prudent financially.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Venus in Virgo is a tendency to be critical of others.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Month of June Ends with Mars Entering Gemini, a Full Moon in Capricorn, Mercury Retrograde in Cancer and Jupiter Moving into Leo

 

The fast pace momentum that has prevailed this month is continuing to the very end. On June 28, Mars enters Gemini until August 11 for the first time the summer of 2024. Our motivation is geared towards being more social, communicating and learning.  We are not as focused as we were when Mars was in the fixed earth sign of Taurus.  It's a simple fact that Gemini is mutable air so it can literally be all over the place.  It's easier to become scattered.  Minds are racing, there can be information overload, and anxiety can run rampant.  We want variety as diversity is very appealing to us.  We might also experience difficulty making decisions.  Multitasking is predominant.  Mental stimulation is a big turn-on in relationships now.

On the following day, June 29 we have two major astrological events.  First off, Mercury stations retrograde in 26 degrees of Cancer at 1:36 p.m.  Mercury is retrograde until July 23, when it goes direct in 16 degrees of Cancer.  We will be reassessing how we communicate our feelings and difficult conversations can occur, especially in families.  Mark my words, this will be a very emotional Mercury retrograde.  We can also be prone to acting passive-aggressive, as Cancer tends to be very self-protective.  But we can look forward to a day of clarity on July 12 when the Sun and Mercury are cazimi or conjunct in 20 degrees of Cancer.  Important insights can arrive from this Mercury retrograde.

There is a Full Moon in 8 degrees of Capricorn at 7:57 p.m. on June 29.  It is sometimes referred to as the Strawberry Moon because it occurs at the time of year when strawberries ripen.  The Full Moon in Capricorn highlights the pull between our private life and public professional life. This Full Moon is squaring Neptune in 4 degrees of Aries, which can trigger the issue of boundaries and confusion.  Neptune's involvement can also bring some type of water damage. The Moon is also widely squaring Saturn in 14 degrees of Aries, so  other strong themes with this Full Moon in Capricorn include fear, anxiety and ending a karmic cycle of boundaries.  Responsibilities will factor in and we might be required to step up.  Old wounds could be resurfacing for conversations, especially with Mercury going retrograde in Cancer on this Full Moon.  It can feel like a particularly harsh Full Moon (it is ruled by Saturn, after all), but it can help us to break cycles that deal with family issues.  Our spiritual intuition can be heightened on this day.  One bright spot of this Full Moon (or the saving grace aspect, as I like to call it) is the trine between Venus in Leo and Saturn in Aries.  This can be quite beneficial for finances.  Jupiter in 29 degrees of Cancer (that good old anaretic degree) is also conjunct Mercury in 26 degrees of Cancer, which can spark some mental optimism and curiosity.  We are thinking big as communication is heavily emphasized.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of this conjunction is a tendency towards mental overload, exaggeration and over-committing. The Full Moon is exactly conjunct my North Node in my 3rd house, so I know that I am in for some major conversations and responsibilities.  Anyone who has planets in the early degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will really feel the emotional intensity of this Full Moon.  But just remember it can lead to initiating some major changes in our lives.

On June 30, Jupiter enters the fixed fire sign of Leo until July 26, 2027.  The last time Jupiter was in Leo was from July 16, 2014 through August 11, 2015.  Jupiter in Leo loves to expand our creativity, self-expression, leadership ability and desire for fun.  It's great for romance and we are more willing to take risks.  We are up for living large, being more generous and taking center stage.  Jupiter in Leo is moving into a trine with Neptune in Aries which will be exact on July 20, bringing us luck and optimism that blends with imagination and spirituality.  But Jupiter in Leo will also be opposing Pluto in Aquarius on that day, which can lead to some leadership and entitlement issues.  The Jupiter in Leo transit should be enjoyable for everyone, if we can be mindful of its pitfalls: arrogance, ego amplification and a desire for excessive attention. Otherwise, enjoy the ride.
