The Aquarius Party Continues as Mercury Joins the Fray and Uranus Acts Up

 

Aquarius season is officially here with both the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius. We should definitely be feeling the need to find freedom and let our freak flag fly. The ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus, even did its part by stationing direct on January 27 after a five-month nap.  On that day I posted:

The major astrological event of today is Uranus stationing direct after being retrograde since late August. All of the planets are now direct and we can proceed with implementing change. #astrology

Mercury will be entering Aquarius during the coming week, but it has a final aspect in the sign of Capricorn that will impact us before it leaves.  On February 2, Mercury in Capricorn will form a supportive sextile to Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces.  Pay attention to your dreams with this one, engage in some meditation as insights can be gleaned and let your creativity flow.  This is one of the more delightful aspects of the month, so enjoy it.

Mercury enters Aquarius on February 5 and stays there until February 23. We will definitely be primed for thinking outside of the box.  Originality, innovation and eccentricity are calling the shots as we hunger for knowledge.  Mercury wastes no time getting busy when it conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius about an hour after its entrance into Aquarius.  This will add another layer of intensity to communication.  It can also be a time of psychological analysis and getting to the root of problems.  But please be mindful that there is the potential for mental power struggles...  After all, Aquarius is the fixed air sign and it can be stubborn.

Venus in Capricorn will be trining Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus on February 7.  Uranus is really feeling its oats these days now that it is direct and this aspect will give us the urge to try something new in love or with our finances.  We want to break free of any restrictions in relationships.  It's possible to meet new people now and a financial windfall could be in the offing because this is a trine, so any surprises that are delivered should be pleasant.  Trust me on this one because I have a natal trine involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer.

But Uranus kicks into high gear on February 8 when the Sun in Aquarius is exactly squaring Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus. Mark my words, this is not going to be a day with a peaceful easy feeling, to paraphrase that old Eagles song.  It will be characterized by a quite uneasy feeling, anxiety and uncertainty as we sense impending change upon us.  We are aware that change is inevitable, but the issue is that we don't know how or when it will occur.  This is a very volatile aspect that can lead to unpredictable behavior and ego conflicts.  It is also leading into the New Moon in 20 degrees of Aquarius that will occur on February 9.  Uranus will be a major player in that New Moon because the Moon will be squaring it.  I will cover that more in next week's blog post.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Game Changing Full Moon in Leo Featuring Uranus in Taurus Calling the Shots

Can you feel the change coming yet? Yes, we have a Full Moon in 16 degrees of Leo coming up on February 5, but the winds of change are already blowing.  On February 3, the Sun in Aquarius is squaring Uranus in 14 degrees of Taurus.  This is a very rebellious and restless vibe with a strong theme of stability challenging change.  We will undoubtedly be dealing with breakdowns, breakthroughs or comebacks.  Uranus is the wild card planet that likes to shock us and deliver upsets.  It can literally strike like lightning.  Uranus is also the ruling planet of Aquarius, so it packs quite a punch and sets the stage for a powerful and emotional Full Moon in Leo.

If you have any planets in the middle degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, you have probably been feeling this energy all week.  It tends to generate high anxiety. The bottom line with this Uranian energy is that change is coming and we need to accept it.  If  we don't accept it, we will be steamrolled by it.  There is a saying that is attributed to Gandhi, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world" that  resonates big time for me.  I remember when I first began my study of astrology many years ago my teacher told me that I had a chart like Gandhi.  At the time I didn't understand what that truly meant, but now I can see that perhaps it had to do somewhat with the fact that both Gandhi and I had Libra Rising, Cancer Midheavens and Mercury and Venus in Scorpio.  And I have always sought to achieve peaceful resolutions to any problems, probably because of that Libra Rising and Neptune in Libra in the 1st house.  Gandhi had a 12th house Libra Sun.  I am all too aware that major changes are coming down the pike as a chapter of my life is coming to an end.  My Mars in Aquarius and my Scorpio Sun and Saturn are being aspected with this Sun-Uranus square as well as the Full Moon in Leo.  I can tell you from personal experience that fixed signs don't give up or let go easily, especially when they don't know what the future is bringing.  That is what Uranus does best, delivering the unexpected.  All that I can tell you is to be as proactive as possible to survive and thrive in these changing times.

On February 4, 2023, we have another challenging aspect that is a precursor to the Full Moon in Leo.  Venus in 11 degrees of Pisces is exactly squaring Mars in 11 degrees of Gemini.  We are all going to feel the effects of this aspect, but anyone with planets in the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will take the biggest hit.  Relationships will be tested, tempers could flare, conflict could erupt, and we might feel irritable and annoyed with those we love.  Some relationships could break up but the flip side is that Venus squaring Mars can also lead to a surge in creativity or some great make-up sex if conflict does rear its ugly head.  Once again, I am in the line of fire as my Moon is in 14 degrees of Gemini in my 8th house.

On February 5, the Full Moon in 16 degrees of Leo is exact at 1:29 pm.  Full Moons are all about closure, completion and shining a light on what has been previously hidden. Uranus in 15 degrees of Taurus is involved in a fixed T-square with this Full Moon because it squares both the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo.  Mark my words, there will be a strong sense of urgency and restlessness prevalent as we are forced to contemplate what we have outgrown in our lives.  Uranus in Taurus will probably manifest as climaxes and unexpected results. We should be seeing some fast-moving events with Uranus in the mix.  The thing with Uranus is that you simply cannot predict how it will manifest, but it will throw you for a loop.   It will be a stressful time and I don't see how we can avoid conflict as we deal with stubborn attachments.  Uranus in Taurus is at the end of my 7th house and will be entering my 8th house on February 25, but the Sun is in my 4th house and the Moon is in my 10th house on this Full Moon. The themes associated with a Leo Full Moon include leadership, creativity and integrity.  

This Full Moon in Leo will bring massive changes but it doesn't have to be all negative experiences.  It will probably feel unsettling as a way of life that we have been attached to for so long winds down, but we need to tap into that fire energy and enthusiasm that Leo is renowned for and embrace the future, even if we are not yet sure what it will look like.  On February 8, Venus in 15 degrees of Pisces will form a supportive sextile to Uranus in 15 degrees of Taurus.   Sextiles represent opportunities, so this aspect can be our ticket to working things out after the fallout of the Full Moon and making our way into the light of the future.  Use this energy wisely to create your new reality.

Venus and Mercury Turn Direct and a New Moon in Aquarius

 

Hang on this week because there is a lot of cosmic activity going down.  On January 28, Mercury and Pluto are conjunct for the second time in 27 degrees of Capricorn. The previous conjunction occurred on December 29, 2021 in 25 degrees of Capricorn when Mercury was still direct.  What can we expect when this happens? More scandals and secrets could be revealed as it is prime time to dig deep.  Our thinking and communication will undoubtedly be transformed.  And we get to experience this transit one more time on February 11, 2022 with both planets in 27 degrees of Capricorn again. 

We have really good news on January 29 when Venus stations direct in 11 degrees of Capricorn.  Venus has been retrograde since December 19, 2021 when it stationed retrograde in 26 degrees of Capricorn and it has been testing relationships and finances ever since.  At least that is what I am hearing from people and it’s been my own personal experience too.  I personally think it has heavily influenced the feeling of being stuck so far this year and like we are reenacting a Groundhog Day of the year 2021.  Venus will remain in Capricorn until March 6, 2022 so we still have a lot of heavy stuff to sift through but it should start to get a little easier now.  Venus has been in Capricorn since early November 2021, so this is a very extended transit that will force us to be more responsible in our relationships and finances. Harmony is making a comeback and if you have been contemplating any major changes to your appearance, you have a green light to move forward now that Venus is direct.

The Sun in 10 degrees of Aquarius will be exactly squaring rebel planet Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus on January 30, 2022.  How is this aspect going to play out?  Well, we can expect some tension which can lead to unpredictable behavior such as angry outbursts, radical changes and of course, electrical malfunctions.  Mercury is still retrograde, don’t forget.  The best way to survive this transit is to be as proactive as possible regarding change and expect that something will alter the course of your life as a result of this challenging aspect.  Try to be flexible which might not be that easy with both of these planets in fixed signs…

On February 1, 2022, we have a New Moon in 12 degrees of Aquarius.  This is also the Chinese New Year of the Tiger.  New Moons are always an opportunity to set some new intentions so I encourage all of you to do so, but be mindful of the fact that this New Moon is conjunct Saturn in 15 degrees of Aquarius.  The bottom line with Saturn’s alignment with the Moon means that whatever new beginnings we experience are originating out of hard times because Saturn loves to test us and forces us to be realistic in order to create something solid.  So, in essence, reality bites.  The three Saturn-Uranus squares of 2021 might be over, but they are still a force to be reckoned with in 2022.  The Sun in Aquarius was squaring Uranus in Taurus on the 30^th and the New Moon in Aquarius is conjunct Saturn in Aquarius.  Change is coming, but there is still resistance to changing the status quo and we need to accept the fact that the changes we desire are happening on their own timetable, not ours.  We still have free will, so please try to initiate something on this New Moon because there is an excellent chance that we will see positive results by the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 12, 2022.  Mars in 5 degrees of Capricorn is trining Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus on this New Moon, so this is still pretty focused energy that shouldn’t be wasted. I personally have some trepidation about this New Moon because it is conjunct my natal Mars in 14 degrees of Aquarius in my 4^th house and squaring my Saturn in 12 degrees of Scorpio in my 1^st house.  And Uranus in Taurus is still in my 7^th house squaring both my Mars and Saturn.  So I fully appreciate this theme.

On February 3, 2022, prepare to rejoice because Mercury stations direct in 24 degrees of Capricorn after having been retrograde since January 14, when it stationed retrograde in 11 degrees of Aquarius.  Mercury is moving slowly because of its station, but it will re-enter Aquarius on Valentine’s Day, February 14.  So communication should start to get back on track, hopefully travel will become easier and our electronics should start behaving and stop their infuriating malfunctions.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine.  If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. The Omicron strain of the virus is spreading like wildfire these days.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
