The Aquarius Party Continues as Mercury Joins the Fray and Uranus Acts Up

 



Aquarius season is officially here with both the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius. We should definitely be feeling the need to find freedom and let our freak flag fly. The ruling planet of Aquarius, Uranus, even did its part by stationing direct on January 27 after a five-month nap.  On that day I posted:
Mercury will be entering Aquarius during the coming week, but it has a final aspect in the sign of Capricorn that will impact us before it leaves.  On February 2, Mercury in Capricorn will form a supportive sextile to Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces.  Pay attention to your dreams with this one, engage in some meditation as insights can be gleaned and let your creativity flow.  This is one of the more delightful aspects of the month, so enjoy it.

Mercury enters Aquarius on February 5 and stays there until February 23. We will definitely be primed for thinking outside of the box.  Originality, innovation and eccentricity are calling the shots as we hunger for knowledge.  Mercury wastes no time getting busy when it conjuncts Pluto in Aquarius about an hour after its entrance into Aquarius.  This will add another layer of intensity to communication.  It can also be a time of psychological analysis and getting to the root of problems.  But please be mindful that there is the potential for mental power struggles...  After all, Aquarius is the fixed air sign and it can be stubborn.

Venus in Capricorn will be trining Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus on February 7.  Uranus is really feeling its oats these days now that it is direct and this aspect will give us the urge to try something new in love or with our finances.  We want to break free of any restrictions in relationships.  It's possible to meet new people now and a financial windfall could be in the offing because this is a trine, so any surprises that are delivered should be pleasant.  Trust me on this one because I have a natal trine involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer.

But Uranus kicks into high gear on February 8 when the Sun in Aquarius is exactly squaring Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus. Mark my words, this is not going to be a day with a peaceful easy feeling, to paraphrase that old Eagles song.  It will be characterized by a quite uneasy feeling, anxiety and uncertainty as we sense impending change upon us.  We are aware that change is inevitable, but the issue is that we don't know how or when it will occur.  This is a very volatile aspect that can lead to unpredictable behavior and ego conflicts.  It is also leading into the New Moon in 20 degrees of Aquarius that will occur on February 9.  Uranus will be a major player in that New Moon because the Moon will be squaring it.  I will cover that more in next week's blog post.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Uranus Goes Direct in Taurus Adding a Green Light to Moving Forward and Change



Save the day of January 27, 2024 because on that day Uranus stations direct in 19 degrees of Taurus after having been retrograde since August 28, 2023.  It stationed retrograde back then in 23 degrees of Taurus, so if you have planets between 19-23 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you have been feeling the angst big time for the past five months. You have probably been contemplating changes, but felt somewhat stymied in terms of what course of action to take.  Uranus is the planet that symbolizes breakthrough, revolution, innovation and is known as the Great Awakener. When Uranus stationed retrograde in August, it was opposing my Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house and when it stations direct, it will be directly opposing my Sun in Scorpio in my 2nd house.  It also marks the day that all of the planets are in direct motion until April 1 when we have our first Mercury retrograde of 2024 in Aries.

We have had quite an intense week astrologically.  On January 20, after a final conjunction between the Sun and Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn, both the Sun and Pluto entered Aquarius.  The Sun enters Aquarius every year, but Pluto entering Aquarius is a rare occurrence.  Okay, it dipped its toes in briefly last year from March 23 through June 11, but it is really getting its feet wet this time before it has one final quick sweep to clean up in Capricorn from September 1 through November 19.  On January 20, I posted:
We also had the first Full Moon of 2024 on January 25 in 5 degrees of Leo that was pretty potent.  On that day I posted:
But I think we are all familiar with the theory that when a planet is stationing, either retrograde or direct, its power is intensified for about five days before and after the actual date of the station.  The bottom line is that if Uranus has been aspecting any of your planets, you have probably been experiencing some intense emotions and anxiety about whatever radical changes you want to make in your life.  Now that Uranus in Taurus has joined the all-direct party of planets, the sense of urgency to implement change is more palpable.

Mercury and Mars are also conjunct in 17 degrees of Capricorn on January 27, so we are going to feel even more inspired to launch new ideas.  It is a very creative vibe.  On January 28, both Mercury and Mars in 18 degrees of Capricorn will be squaring the North Node in Aries and South Node in Libra.  This only serves to fuel our desire to make choices and take action.  Mercury in Capricorn will also be trining Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus on January 28, which can bring interesting news and approaches to situations.  Venus in Capricorn is also trining Jupiter in 6 degrees of Taurus on that day, which is a real feel-good aspect that helps us to embrace joy and love.  It also fosters creativity and perhaps a desire to engage in some shopping.

We are really feeling the urge to break free, take risks and start some new projects on January 29 when Mars in Capricorn is trining Uranus in 20 degrees of Taurus.  Don't forget that Mars is a very happy camper in Capricorn, eager to accomplish great feats.  And when these two earth signs of Capricorn and Taurus get together, they want to build something that can last.  The astrological log jam has been broken and we have over two months to plunge ahead to implement the plans we have been contemplating since last summer.  Full speed ahead...

An Action-Packed Week as the Sun and Pluto Enter Aquarius, Venus Moves into Capricorn and the First Full Moon of 2024 in Leo






This is it, folks.  If you haven't felt like 2024 is officially here, I guarantee that you will this week.  On January 19, Mercury in Capricorn will be exactly trining Jupiter in 6 degrees of Taurus, providing us with an optimistic tone to our communication and facilitating our ability to be more organized and make plans. On the same day, Venus in Sagittarius will be exactly squaring Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces, which can put us in the mood for partying and wanting to enjoy some beauty in our lives.  Don't even think of going on a diet, though with this aspect. It does not encourage self-discipline.

But mark the day of January 20 on your calendar.  This might very well be the official start of 2024.  The Sun and Pluto will be conjunct in 29 degrees of Capricorn at 8:46 a.m. on that day for the last time.  It is common knowledge that 29 degrees is considered to be the critical or anaretic degree, so we can expect some drama and upsets to occur.  Paranoia might rear its ugly head and many of us could feel like this is the last straw.  We are in a major process of transformation and some things could be removed from our lives.

At 9:07 a.m. on January 20, the Sun enters the fixed air sign of Aquarius.  This happens every year and it marks a change in our focus.   When the Sun is in Aquarius, we want to be free and original.  We are more innovative and concerned with the greater good.  Equality becomes a priority now.  We could also feel like enlarging our social circle and might find a new tribe that meshes with our beliefs.

But Pluto is also entering Aquarius on January 20 at 7:50 p.m.  This is huge and will usher in a new reality.  Pluto briefly tiptoed into Aquarius in 2023 from March 23 through June 11 to give us a taste which mostly shone a light on AI, but Pluto will remain in Aquarius until September 1, 2024 when it returns to Capricorn until November 19, 2024 to attend to unfinished business.  This unfinished business will probably revolve around the final touches of transforming our financial and governmental structures. When Pluto returns to Aquarius on November 19, it will stay in Aquarius for good until March 8, 2043. I have made peace with the fact that Pluto will remain in Aquarius for the rest of my life; I was born with Pluto in Leo.  Countries, like the United States, have Pluto Returns, but people don't because we don't have a 248-year life span.

The last time Pluto was in Aquarius for an extended stay was from 1778 to 1798.  This was the age of Revolution: the American Revolution, the French Revolution and the Industrial Revolution.  Destruction and rebirth are the calling cards of Pluto.  When Pluto is in Aquarius, 
we should all consider giving back to our communities.  It will quite literally be the era of Power for the People.

Mercury in 8 degrees of Capricorn leaves its retrograde shadow on January 20 as well.  Hooray!  The Moon also enters Gemini at 8:58 a.m. just a few minutes after the Sun enters Aquarius.  This is significant because we will finally have some planets in air by the evening: the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius and the Moon in Gemini.  In case you haven't noticed, we haven't had any air planets recently.  Now that we have some planets in air signs, communication can proceed more smoothly.  And having Mercury clearing its retrograde shadow on the same day is a real perk.

Venus leaves party sign Sagittarius for Capricorn on January 23, 2024 and stays in Capricorn until February 16, 2024.  When Venus is in Capricorn, our style of showing love and affection is more subdued and we are craving stability. It is a time of getting serious about love, commitment and finances. But Venus in Capricorn does reward hard work in relationships.

And on January 25, we have our first Full Moon of 2024 in 5 degrees of Leo.  This is bound to  be felt on a deeply emotional level.  This Full Moon has been referred to as the Wolf Moon because wolves are heard howling in the winter.  Major themes of this Full Moon include listening to your heart (Leo rules the heart), engage in some self-love and let your inner child out to play so that you can find your truth and release those emotions.

What is the astrological landscape of this Full Moon?  For starters, this Full Moon in Leo is opposing Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius, which can play out as volatility, mood swings, inner turmoil, relationship drama and for some, vulnerability to manipulation.   The Full Moon in 5 degrees of Leo is also squaring Jupiter in 6 degrees of Taurus, which can have us wanting to claim our power but feeling overwhelmed.  The Full Moon in Leo is involved in a T-square because it opposes both the Sun and Pluto in Aquarius while squaring Jupiter in Taurus, so it can be an explosive mix.  But T-squares do have a way of motivating us.  We might find ourselves having to make some adjustments in relationships because the Full Moon in Leo is inconjunct Saturn in 5 degrees of Pisces and Venus in 2 degrees of Capricorn.  The bright side of this Full Moon is that Jupiter in Taurus is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in Pisces, which can help stabilize our spiritual growth.
