The Truth Comes out with a Full Moon in Sagittarius and Mercury Enters Gemini

The upcoming full moon in Sagittarius will clearly demonstrate that Gemini season is in full swing, as I pointed out in my tweet of May 20, 2018:
Gemini is the sign associated with communication, since it is ruled by Mercury and when the full moon in 8 degrees of Sagittarius opposes the Gemini sun on May 29, 2018, the truth about many matters may emerge.  Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and is associated with courage, wisdom, adventure and higher consciousness.  This full moon has the potential to be very positive with a host of favorable aspects in play that day and a strong theme of surging forward.  The only fly in the ointment is a slight tendency for judgmentalism, opinionated views and an inclination to be somewhat blunt in communications. And Mercury enters the sign of Gemini at 7:49 p.m. on May 29th to boot.

What is going on astrologically on May 29th?  We have not one, but two Grand Trines happening that day.  There is a grand trine in water featuring Jupiter in 15 degrees of Scorpio, Neptune in 16 degrees of Pisces and Venus in 11 degrees of Cancer.  On May 25, 2018 Jupiter in Scorpio trined Neptune in Pisces, which was an extremely positive aspect that favors luck, generosity and compassion.  We are fortunate enough to get another hit of this aspect on August 19, 2018.  But with Venus joining the party on the day of a full moon in Sagittarius to form a grand water trine, we are truly blessed with inspirational and creative energy.  A grand water trine ensures that emotion, sensitivity and intuition will be very strong on this full moon.

We also have a grand fire trine involving the moon in 8 degrees of Sagittarius, Chiron in 1 degree of Aries and the north node in 7 degrees of Leo.  Full moons represent a time of culmination and a big part of this may be letting go of old emotional wounds from the past (represented by Chiron, the Wounded Healer) in order to move forward.  The north node in Leo is gives us the courage to tackle those wounds and press on our path.  The north node inherently wants to go forth and the full moon’s supportive sextile to the south node in 7 degrees of Aquarius gives it another boost to release that past karmic baggage. A grand fire trine is creative, inspirational, self-expressive and spontaneous.

The combined efforts of these two grand trines supplies the energy to really communicate about long-standing issues and release them once and for all as we strive to move forward.  These two grand trines working together can be extremely beneficial.  The full moon is also forming a supportive sextile to Mars in 4 degrees of Aquarius, providing the impetus to act on those desires for growth and change.

The only other potential alarming factor on this full moon is the influence of the ongoing Mars in Aquarius square to Uranus in Taurus.  I certainly hope that there are no more volcanoes erupting, but Mars squaring Uranus in Taurus, the sign of the earth, is a clear manifestation of that kind of energy.  Mars squaring Uranus has a rebellious quality and there is tendency to act rashly without regard for the consequences.  We could be hearing some news about disruption and violence on this full moon, but that is not set in stone.  I’m just saying don’t be surprised if that kind of news emerges.

Mercury is entering its home sign of Gemini on May 29th and true to its mercurial nature, it will be a brief transit, only lasting until June 12, 2018.  Mercury in Gemini is communicative, curious and sociable.  Don’t be surprised if your social life speeds up considerably while both the sun and Mercury are in Gemini.  Mercury in Gemini is not the best time to be focused on a long-term goal, as we are more inclined to dabble in superficial knowledge about a variety of subjects and are easily distracted.  It does give us more mental flexibility and information will flow more quickly, which could lead to new perspectives. Keeping an open mind is the key to reaping the rewards of Mercury in Gemini.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including eclipses, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn retrograde, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. The Virgo Posse Expands As Venus Enters Virgo and New Moon in Virgo

Venus is joining the posse of planets in Virgo which includes the sun, Mars, and Mercury on September 19th.  As an added bonus, Mercury is finally out of its retrograde shadow on that day as well.

But before Venus enters Virgo, Venus in Leo conjuncts the north node in Leo on September 15, 2017.  This is a truly delightful aspect for creative purposes and working on improving relationships.  A north node in Leo is helping all of us get more in touch with our creativity and ability to love, so this is a very sweet combination as it guides us on our collective destiny.

I sense also that many of us are still reeling from the effects of last week’s full moon in Pisces and the recent hurricane Irma in Florida.  Somehow I believe that the combination of the August eclipses and that full moon in Pisces, the sign ruled by Neptune, are partially responsible for all of this water damage.  But Pisces also rules compassion and healing, and that energy is particularly potent these days with both Chiron and Neptune in Pisces.  The moon moved into its home sign of Cancer on September 13th and coming on the heels of Hurricane Irma and the anniversary of 9/11, I have certainly felt that intensely emotional water energy.  On September 14th, I tweeted:

.As an empath and healer, I have been inundated with the depth of emotions that I am experiencing in response to recent events in the world.  As a healer, I just want to make things better.  It is truly encouraging to see that others are feeling this compassionate vibe.  On September 14th I also retweeted a tweet that represented the good stories coming as a result of Irma:
Initially, I believed that my nostalgia and reflective mood were due to the sun transiting my 12th house, but I think that the recent full moon in Pisces on September 6th is an even bigger player and contributing factor in this drama.

Venus in Virgo will be vastly different from Venus in Leo.  Venus in Leo was all about fun, romance, flirting and generosity to the point of extravagance.  Venus in Virgo is considered to be in its sign of fall because it is exalted in Pisces, but Venus in Virgo has its merits.  Venus in Virgo is in an earth sign, so love will be expressed through practical means and gestures: handling detailed work, doing errands and just plain being there.  It is not flashy or dramatic.  Virgo has a strong theme of service to others and rendering service to others is one of the ways Venus in Virgo expresses love.  The only downside with Venus in Virgo that we need to be mindful of is a tendency to be too critical of or picky with our partners.  Venus will leave Virgo on October 14, 2017 and enter Libra then.  Venus rules Libra and Taurus, so it will be a lot more comfortable and social there.  But this year in particular, let’s use the Venus in Virgo energy to render service to others.

The new moon in 27 degrees of Virgo occurs at 1:30 a. m. on the east coast of the United States. New moons are a time of new beginnings and setting new intentions.  This new moon falls in my 12th house, but wherever 27 degrees of Virgo falls in your chart is the area of life where you will want to set new intentions.  This new moon has a lot of positive aspects surrounding it.  We are still in the throes of a Grand Fire Trine involving the north node in 23 degrees of Leo, Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius and Uranus in 27 degrees of Aries.  Grand trines represent the most positive qualities of the element involved and a grand trine in fire is forward looking, inspiring and creative.

There is also a great deal of mutable energy involved in this new moon.  We have the posse of planets in Virgo, but we also have Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, which are also activated during this new moon.  Mutable signs are renowned for their flexibility and adaptability, their literal ability to go with the flow.  Neptune in Pisces will be opposing Mercury in Virgo during this new moon, which will fuel our creativity and imagination. The new moon in 27 degrees of Virgo will also be in direct opposition to Chiron in 27 degrees of Pisces, which can help heal old wounds.  The trick with the opposition to Chiron is to surrender and accept those wounds.  If we do this, we are actually withdrawing the energy required for maintaining them in our lives and not feeding them.  Both personally and professionally the theme of surrender has emerged for me this past week. My clients are feeling it and so am I.  Sometimes we just need to surrender the need to control the outcome and let go of the past as much as possible.  The third mutable sign of Sagittarius features prominently too because Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius forms a T-square with the moon and Chiron.  A new moon in Virgo is also a good time for establishing a new health regime, especially if it falls in your 6th house. Don’t be afraid to try natural remedies for healing or complementary methods of healing, like acupuncture or Reiki.
.

The Great American Solar Eclipse in Leo

Three days and counting until the BIG DAY is here!  That’s right folks, the much awaited solar eclipse in 29 degrees of Leo (rounded up from 28 degrees and 53 seconds)  will occur at 2:30 p.m. on the east coast of the United States.  Those of us on the east coast won’t be able to view it, but all of us will feel its effects, if we haven’t started to already.

It is being called the Great American Eclipse because its shadow, the shadow of the moon, crosses the United States from the northwest to the southeast and touches no other nation. It has been ninety nine years since the last total solar eclipse followed this trajectory.  That one occurred on June 8, 1918 in 17 degrees of Gemini. The world was undergoing massive changes back then too—World War I was ending and the Russian Communist Party was formed after the overthrow of the Czar,

I believe that this eclipse is important because it is propelling us forward on a collective destiny and that there are great lessons to be learned from our history, especially if we don’t care to repeat past mistakes.  The events of the past week, including the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia and President Trump’s bizarre reaction to that rally in his press conference on August 15th, bear that out, On August 15, 2017, I tweeted:
I am no stranger to the intensity of challenging Venus Pluto aspects, being the proud owner of a retrograde Venus in Scorpio square Pluto in Leo aspect.  The opposition of Venus to Pluto triggers the same issues of power struggles, obsession and compulsive behavior

There is also the fact that the last solar eclipse in 29 degrees of Leo occurred on August 22, 1998 and precipitated the impeachment proceedings of President Bill Clinton which began in December 1998.  Don’t forget that the effects of a solar eclipse can be felt for up to one year after the actual date of the eclipse.

But now on to the astrology of the day. One of the major reasons this eclipse is so important to our future is the degree of the eclipse.  Twenty nine degrees of any sign is known as the “critical” degree because there is a sense of urgency in getting the lessons of that sign right.  It can literally be likened to the expression “last call” and this country is certainly in a time of crisis now.  When a planet is in 29 degrees of Leo (and we have both the sun and moon here), we have the full gamut of Leo themes playing out: courage, leadership, creativity, generosity, childlike joy or tyranny, arrogance, pride, self-centeredness, childish tantrums and melodrama. If we want to get it right with this Leo solar eclipse, the message is to let go of the ego and arrogance and live from the heart.  Is it a coincidence that this eclipse conjuncts President Trump’s Mars and Leo ascendant while squaring his Taurus midheaven?

I also want to emphasize that we have a beautiful Grand Fire Trine in place on the day of the solar eclipse which can be very beneficial. Both the sun and moon in Leo are trining Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius and Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries.  The trine to Uranus can deliver a jolt of inspiration, a sudden event or shock.  But Saturn’s presence can help stabilize and lay a foundation for the changes coming down the pike. Mars and the north node of the moon are also in Leo, adding to the mix and both are sextiling Jupiter in Libra, which is providing lots of enthusiasm and drive for the changes that we seek to implement. A solar eclipse conjunct the north node is indisputably propelling us forward on our collective destiny and Jupiter may well be providing us with opportunities.  Anyone who has planets between 21 and 28 degrees of the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius will really feel this energy strongly.

Another complicating feature of this eclipse is Venus in Cancer, which is no astrological lightweight these days.  Just look at what happened a few days ago when it opposed Pluto in Capricorn.  Venus in 23 degrees of Cancer is squaring Jupiter in 20 degrees of Libra and Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries.  This configuration is all about relationship testing, issues of commitment and freedom.  Don’t forget that Jupiter in Libra is challenging Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn on issues of fairness in government.  Jupiter in Libra is imploring us to ensure that inequality in government does not continue. And a solar eclipse in Leo pertains to our leaders, so this is absolutely challenging our concepts of leadership in this country.

Cardinal energy is definitely highlighted during this solar eclipse, courtesy of a Grand Cardinal Cross involving Uranus and Eris in 28 degrees of Aries opposing Jupiter in 20 degrees of Libra and squaring Venus and Ceres in Cancer, which are also opposing Pluto in Capricorn.  The bottom line with this lineup is that we want change NOW.  Cardinal energy is known for its initiating quality and is very much the self-starter.
Retrograde Mercury in Virgo is not standing idly by during this eclipse, either.  It is forming an opposition to retrograde Neptune in Pisces.  With these two mutable planets retrograde during a solar eclipse, beware of “fake news” and don’t take everything you hear at face value.  If you are facing any major decisions in your life, try to put them on hold for a while because revisions may be necessary.

The solar eclipse in 29 degrees of Leo on August 21, 2017 may be triggering some issues or bringing some unfinished business from the lunar eclipse on February 10, 2017 up for review.  For me, that eclipse was conjunct my Pluto in Leo in my 11th house and this eclipse will also conjunct my Pluto.  That will be the case for many of my generation.  But when I think back to February 2017, I remember that was when I began practicing Reiki in a second office.  It may be time for me to take my practice to a new level.  I think it’s a wise move for all of us to reflect upon what was happening to us back in February because wherever this eclipse hits your chart, it will represent a fresh start and a reset for that area of your life.

If you are curious as to how these astrological changes are impacting you or seeking more spiritual insight into your life, please consider getting an astrological reading. An astrological reading can provide valuable insight and tools.  If you are not quite ready for a full blown natal interpretation or a solar return forecast, I also offer a basic astrological reading that will offer insight into your astrological DNA and the major themes in your life by delving into any pressing issues, one question astrological readings and composite couple readings that offer insight into the purpose of a relationship. And I offer shorter transit readings for three and six months. If you purchase a three or six month transit reading, I will .even take a peek at the August 2017 eclipses. The August eclipses promise to be heavy hitters because they will occur in the signs of nodes, Leo and Aquarius.

August Kicks off Eclipse Season with a Complicated Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius

August is here and so is the long-awaited countdown to eclipse season.  August began with the moon moving into Sagittarius and forming a challenging aspect with Venus in Cancer, inspiring me to tweet:
Eclipse season kicks off on August 7, 2017 with a lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Aquarius.  Lunar eclipses are renowned for feeling like full moons on steroids and their effects can be felt for up to six weeks before and after the actual date. So many of you may already being feeling the effects of this upcoming eclipse.  They also bring heightened emotions and require adjustments, so I find it quite ironic that August began with a quincunx or inconjunct aspect from the moon to Venus.  Inconjuncts tend to have an annoying vibe that demands adjustment, and this really sets the stage for this first eclipse in August.

Lunar eclipses are also a time of full exposure and closure of something significant in your life.  A lunar eclipse in the sign of Aquarius has a strong theme of friendships and since this is a south node lunar eclipse, we may find ourselves letting go of or at least reviewing some friendships from our past that are no longer relevant.  The south node of the moon does pertain to the past.  Eclipses also bring sudden changes, and an eclipse in the sign of Aquarius, ruled by the planet Uranus, emphasizes this theme even further.  Aquarius is also known for its qualities of idealism, the potential for an alternative reality, intellectual prowess (I can still remember my astrology teacher describing Aquarius as the most intellectual of the air signs) and its ability for emotional detachment.  But it is entirely possible that this eclipse will require us to let go of some of that Aquarian detachment and operate on a more heart-centered level, which is what Leo rules.  And the north node, representing our soul’s destiny, is in Leo right now, so we should be moving in that direction.

The north node in 24 degrees of Leo is also involved in a Grand Fire Trine with Uranus in 28 degrees of Aries and Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius on August 7th.  This aspect will be a major driving force on the day of the eclipse.  Grand fire trines can be very inspiring, which is a very positive influence.  This eclipse also features the sun and Mars conjunct in 15 degrees of Leo and trine Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius.  Striving for success is another component of this eclipse.  With Uranus being such a heavy hitter in this eclipse, we need to be prepared to act quickly.  It can literally be a time when we need to strike quickly while the iron is hot, so to speak.

Further complicating this lunar eclipse is the influence of the third and final square of Jupiter in Libra to Pluto in Capricorn in 17 degrees on August 4th.  Jupiter squaring Pluto tends to generate power struggles over fairness in relationships.  But Jupiter is favorably trining that full moon in Aquarius, which increases the chance of success, wealth and happiness if accompanied by a more ethical approach.  Jupiter in Libra is also sextiling the Leo sun, which strengthens the likelihood of success.  But that Aquarius moon is also opposing Mars in Leo, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself feeling impatient if success doesn’t seem to happen on your timetable.  And try not to act in a ruthless manner, in spite of how tempting that may feel.

What else is contributing to the complicated vibe of this eclipse?  Mercury in 10 degrees of Virgo is opposing Neptune in 13 degrees of Pisces, so we may just want to escape reality.  Don’t forget that Mercury is getting ready to station retrograde in 11 degrees of Virgo on August 12, 2017.  It will be joining the astrological retrograde party of Neptune and Chiron in Pisces, Uranus in Aries, Saturn in Sagittarius and Pluto in Capricorn.  Do you understand now why I said this eclipse is complicated?

And for good measure, we have another astrological configuration called a Yod activated on the lunar eclipse of August 7, 2017.  A yod is a rare astrological aspect sometime referred to as the Finger of God or Fate that features two planets sextiling each other but inconjunct a third planet.  The sextiles provide easy, flowing energy but the inconjunct to the third planet creates tension that must be released. It involves Neptune in 15 degrees of Pisces sextiling Pluto in 17 degrees Capricorn while both are inconjunct the sun in 15 degrees of Leo.  As someone who has a yod in my natal chart, I can tell you first hand that it is one challenging aspect but it does hold the potential for great spiritual evolution and increased awareness.  This particular yod brings the potential for tremendous healing and increased sensitivity if we release the tension in a constructive manner.  The bottom line with this lunar eclipse is that we need to release something in our lives but it can be ultimately a very positive experience if we trust the process and make room for a more positive reality.

This lunar eclipse is extremely personal for me, as it conjuncts my natal Mars in the 4th house.  I am already feeling some longstanding anger and anxiety issues resurfacing and I am sure that they will intensify as a result of this eclipse.  But I am also trying to have more faith in how this eclipse plays out for me because it also trines my Gemini moon and Libra ascendant, setting off my natal grand air trine.  And Jupiter in Libra is setting it off too, so I really need to develop that faith in my higher power that I am always urging my clients to access.

If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.  I am also offering Reiki treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.

But the big news is that I have created and launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel free to check it out at:

I was also featured in the July 3rd edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

Additionally, I launched an endeavor that will deliver my services to you at an affordable cost in the form of package deals.  I am offering four options: Silver, Gold, Platinum and a Tarot special for my tarot clients. Please check it out at:

The August eclipses are imminent and I am offering an Eclipse Special reading to give you a personalized interpretation of how both the lunar and solar eclipse will affect you.  You can get a heads up on these game changers by purchasing this reading at:

A Powerful New Moon in Leo Sets the Stage for Major Changes

The first of two new moons in Leo this year occurs on July 23, 2017 in 0 degrees of Leo.  That’s right – I said two new moons in Leo.  The second one is the much ballyhooed solar eclipse (aka new moon on steroids) on August 21, 2017 in 28 degrees of Leo.

This new moon promises to be very potent because it involves so many planets in Leo and fire signs.  Mars entered Leo on July 20th, the sun enters Leo on July 22nd and Mercury, as well as the north node are also in Leo.  Saturn remains in Sagittarius and Uranus and Eris are in Aries.  Saturn, Mercury and Uranus are forming a grand fire trine.  The themes of a Leo new moon include heart-centered energy, creativity, romance and playfulness.  Everyone knows that a new moon is a perfect time to set new intentions and with the sun and moon conjunct Mars in Leo to boot, it’s a perfect time to channel all of that energy and initiative in a constructive way to set some new intentions for a fresh start in whatever area of life this new moon falls in.  For me, it is in my 10th house of career.

Mars in Leo is a key player in this new moon because we are still under the influence of the recent Mars/Uranus square which occurred on July 17, 2017 and inspired me to tweet:

The results of the recent Mars/Uranus square include impatience, a tendency towards being accident prone, an urge to break free from restrictive influences and rebel against authority.  The sun, moon and Mars are squaring Uranus on this Leo new moon, which will encourage us to be bold, courageous, take risks and step out of our comfort zone.  The north node of the moon in Leo amplifies the theme of stepping out of our comfort zone because that is what the north node likes to do.   Mars in Leo can also make us prone to temper tantrums, as we can literally roar like a lion if we’re not happy.  But Mars in Leo is very direct and assertive, so I think that many of us are grateful to bid adieu to the somewhat passive aggressive energy of Mars in Cancer.

All of these planets in fire are ramping up the intensity of this restless vibe.  This is a very complicated new moon, but it does have some very positive influences going for it.  The sun, moon and Mars are forming a trine to Chiron in 28 degrees of Pisces and this offers tremendous potential for emotional healing.  Jupiter in Libra is squaring off with Pluto in Capricorn during the new moon, which will undoubtedly trigger issues of fairness in the areas of finances and government. I wouldn’t rule out hearing some angry words expressed towards foreign countries.

But we are still dealing with some powerful water energy.  Chiron and Neptune are retrograde in Pisces, which can generate healing and compassion, but can also thrust us into the victim role if we are not mindful. Don’t let yourself be a victim of anyone else’s strong actions.  The energy is so strong with this new moon that some of us may find ourselves on the receiving end of another’s impulsive actions. We don’t have to fall into victim autopilot mode; step back, breathe and set your own new intentions.
The bottom line is that change is coming, especially with those two eclipses in August.  Don’t fight the need for change and this ride will be a whole lot easier and more enjoyable for all of us. In the meantime, enjoy the passion of all this Leo energy!

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

As an astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign.
