Saturn Retrogrades in Aries, the Nodes Move into Aquarius and Leo, and a Full Moon in Aquarius

 

The cosmic hits keep on coming in July.  Mercury is FINALLY direct as of July 23 after an excruciatingly brutal and emotional Mercury retrograde that began on June 29, but Saturn is stationing retrograde in 14 degrees of Aries on July 26.  Saturn will remain retrograde until December 10, when it goes direct in 7 degrees of Aries.

What can we expect with Saturn retrograde?  This is a time of major reality checks.  Responsibilities are a key theme and if we have been slacking off, we will have to face them now, no two ways about it.  There could be more responsibilities added to our plate too.  Delays in progress are another component of Saturn retrograde.  This is a period when we need to slow down and review our goals.  Do not launch new projects now and expect them to succeed right off the bat.  Old problems could resurface now.  Saturn retrograde in Aries asks us to rebuild our courage while dealing with fear so that we can grow into greater self-responsibility.  For me, it's happening in my 6th house and I have no doubt that it will affect my health and daily routines.

The Nodes of the Moon are also changing signs on July 26.  The North Node moves into Aquarius on that day while the South Node moves into Leo after having been in Pisces and Virgo since January 12, 2025. The North Node represents what our soul is trying to achieve and it can definitely require some effort while the South Node is all about what comes naturally to us, the path of least resistance.

The North Node of the Moon will be in Aquarius until March 26, 2028.  When the North Node is in Aquarius, we are striving to take actions that serve the greater good and humanity. Power to the people is a major theme.  It is a time to strengthen social support networks and engage in some teamwork.  Technology can be prominently featured.  The South Node in Leo is asking us to release excessive focus on ego, self-centered behaviors and the need for constant attention.  In other words, we need to ditch the drama and find more responsible forms of leadership.

The last time the Nodes of the Moon were in Aquarius was from December 19, 2007 through August 21, 2009.  You might find it helpful to reflect on what issues you faced in your life back then.

We have a great deal of planetary activity on July 27.  The Sun in Leo is opposing Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius.  The Sun opposing Pluto can bring power struggles as deep-seated emotions like jealousy, obsession, manipulation and control surface.  We could find ourselves experiencing a compulsive urge to assert power and take control of our lives.  We might need to accept that situations are out of our control while surrendering the need for total domination.  Obviously this can be easier said than done,

The Sun in Leo is also trining Neptune in 4 degrees of Aries on July 27. This increases our sensitivity to the environment and sense of empathy for others.  It's also a boon for creative projects.  Intuition is strong and our dreams could be quite vivid.

The Sun in Leo forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in 4 degrees of Gemini on the same day.  Pleasant surprises could be on the horizon and stimulating encounters.  We want to try new and exciting things as we crave freedom. Once again, the theme of creativity soars.

On July 29 we have a Full Moon in 6 degrees of Aquarius that promises to deliver quite a punch and rock our world. A Full Moon in Aquarius emphasizes bigger thoughts and visions with a focus on group dynamics. Spoiler alert, we are not done with the Barbault Basket yet because this Full Moon is still in orb of all those outer planets in 4 degrees.  The Full Moon is conjunct Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius, which can be life changing.  Don't discount the power of Pluto in this Full Moon. This will give us more insight into the motivations people have and trigger some fears.  Relationships are bound to change significantly and emotional patterns could be breaking down. A Full Moon conjunct Pluto can deliver deep intense feelings that are overwhelming and/or overpowering as we encounter subconscious fears.  Obsession and turbulence are possible.  Emotional challenges related to power and vulnerability are likely.  Paranoia and jealousy could rear their ugly heads as well. Watch out for manipulation by others or yourself.

Venus in Virgo is also squaring Mars in 21 degrees of Gemini on the Full Moon.  Venus squaring Mars can bring impulsiveness, anger, passion, lack of self-control and feelings of irritation.  Conflict with partners is possible.  We could also wind up engaging in some spending sprees.

The Sun and Jupiter are also conjunct in 6 degrees of Leo on the Full Moon.  Our confidence will be super-charged but it can also add to the drama level.   But there is a protective influence present with the Sun and Jupiter conjunct.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. August Heats Up with a Full Moon in Aquarius, Mercury Goes Direct in Leo and a Venus-Jupiter Conjunction in Cancer

 

We have a super-charged Full Moon in 17 degrees of Aquarius coming up on August 9, 2025.  Mars recently entered sibling air sign Libra on August 6 and it's already been very busy.  Mars in Libra trines Uranus in Gemini on August 8 and also opposed Saturn in 1 degree of Aries on the same day.  Mars trining Uranus can lead to breakthroughs but its opposition to Saturn can slow us down and make us question the structures in our lives. Mars opposing Saturn while trining Uranus can make us feel like we are raring to move forward, but we keep getting pulled back.  It's a classic one step forward, two steps backward motion which can be very frustrating.

The major theme of a Full Moon in Aquarius is how to balance our individuality with the need to contribute to the collective.  That's a pretty big order to fill these days.  On the Full Moon we also have Mars in Libra opposing Neptune in 1 degree of Aries.  Our dreams and faith are being tested with the potential for confusion and exhaustion.  Patience is needed as we deal with the back-and-forth motion of Uranus, Saturn and Neptune interacting with Mars.  There are real obstacles and roadblocks, so it's going to take some time to get the results we want.  Don't be in denial about it.

This Full Moon in Aquarius is falling in the end of my 4th house and is in a three-degree separating orb from my Mars in Aquarius.  So there is absolutely no way that I am escaping the tension of this one....

Mars in Libra will be trining Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius on August 10, which will give us a boost of energy and sense of empowerment. It also means that we have received a Grand Trine in Air since Mars entered Libra on August 6: it trined Uranus in Gemini on the 8th and now on the 10th it trines Pluto in Aquarius.  I have a natal Grand Air Trine involving my Libra Ascendant, Moon in Gemini and Mars in Aquarius, so I can attest that this is very positive.  It's good stuff, so take advantage of whatever opportunities present themselves to you.  One thing I can tell you is that you really need to do something when opportunity knocks.  It's quite literally a case of when you snooze, you lose otherwise.

On August 11, Mercury finally stations direct in 4 degrees of Leo.  I don't know about you, but this has been one brutal Mercury retrograde.  I think that the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio bore the brunt of it.  Mercury has been retrograde since July 18, but it entered the shadow period on June 30.  It will clear its retrograde shadow on August 25 when Mercury is in 15 degrees of Leo.  But we can rejoice in the fact that things will get back on track with communication, transportation and with electronics.  The chaos and drama are starting to recede.

We have one really beautiful and lucky aspect to look forward to on August 12.  Venus and Jupiter (aka the Benefics) are conjunct in 14 degrees of Cancer on that day.  Good fortune, love and abundance could be coming your way on this day when these two planets meet up.  Don't forget that Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer.  This is a day to plant the seeds for our desires to be fulfilled.  I am looking forward to it because this conjunction is five degrees away from my Cancer Midheaven and trining both my Sun and Jupiter in Scorpio. Enjoy the day and prepare to reap the bounty of these two planets converging...

An Intense Week as Mars Squares Saturn, a Super-Charged Full Moon in Aquarius and the Sun Enters Virgo

 

This is it- the week in August that will really rock our world and have a huge impact on our future.  We have already experienced the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in 16 degrees of Gemini on August 14 and on August 16, Mars in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces.  The square between Mars and Saturn will not be as promising as the conjunction between Mars and Jupiter.  When Mars and Saturn are squaring each other, it tends to bring frustration and inhibition.  There are restrictions galore. Trust me, I know this all too well because I have a natal Mars-Saturn square involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio. One could say it is the bane of my existence. We want to make progress, but feel stymied.  The best way to handle this energy is to be patient, strengthen your defenses and don't take unnecessary risks.

And then comes the piece de resistance: a super full Sturgeon Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius on August 19.  It is super full because the Moon is so close to the earth.  It is also the last Full Moon before we enter eclipse season in September. I would also like to issue a spoiler alert that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel the heat of this Full Moon the most intensely.  I happen to have Ceres in 27 degrees of Scorpio and Pluto in 26 degrees of Leo, so once again, I am right in the line of fire.

Jupiter in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon, which will create more inner tension as we face limiting circumstances.  Structures are breaking down and there is lots of uncertainty about the future. Jupiter wants to expand but Saturn is putting the brakes on things, challenging us to deal with a crisis point. Jupiter square Saturn will happen again on December 24, 2024 in 16 degrees and also on June 1, 2025 when Jupiter in 28 degrees of Gemini squares Saturn in 0 degrees of Aries.  So this will be an ongoing transit.

Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus is also a major player in this Full Moon because it exactly squares the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  This is a real wild card vibe, no two ways about it.  We will have a strong desire to break free, but we can also be moody and irrational.  Unexpected and traumatic events are likely to happen.

The Full Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 26 degrees of Leo, further adding to the frustration and discomfort level. Logic and emotion will be battling each other.

Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius isn't idly standing by on this Full Moon, either.  It will be squaring the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo and the Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius, activating a fixed T-square.  Pluto in Aquarius is also featured in a Yod (aka Finger of God or Fate) with Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces and the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo.

Venus in Virgo is opposing Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon too while it squares Mars and Jupiter in Gemini, creating a mutable T-square.  We can expect clashes of opinions and possible freezes in relationships or finances.  Venus in Virgo is also squaring Jupiter in Gemini on the Full Moon and while Venus-Jupiter squares are not that challenging, they can cause us to overindulge or go to extremes.  Just a word of caution...

Pallas, aka Pallas Athene, is the asteroid associated with the wisdom of the female spirit and represents a more cerebral approach to fighting. It is in 24 degrees of Scorpio on the Full Moon, forming a fixed cross with the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  It also featured in yet another Yod with Mars in Gemini and Chiron in 23 degrees of Aries.  This is a very pressure-cooker type vibe that will make us want to release stress.

If your head is spinning with all this talk of T-squares, crosses and Yods, you are not alone.  The bottom line with this Full Moon in Aquarius is that it will have major implications for our collective and personal futures.

On August 22, the Sun enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo.  Our focus will shift to getting organized, paying attention to details and taking better care of our health.  We will tend to be more practical and less inclined to crave drama, which can be a welcome relief.

Mercury Enters Virgo for an Extended Stay and a Super Full Moon in Aquarius

 

The month of July is going out in a big way.  Save the day of July 28 because Mercury is entering the mutable earth sign of Virgo until October 4.  Yes, folks, there is yet another Mercury retrograde coming up on August 23 that lasts until September 15.  Mercury rules Virgo, as well as the sign of Gemini, so the good news is that Mercury is very comfortable in Virgo.  When Mercury is in Virgo, we tend to be more analytical, cerebral, focused, detail-oriented and perfectionist.  Mercury in Virgo is great for problem-solving. Its shadow side is that we can be a tad critical, so be mindful of that.  Virgo is a sign that likes to be of service and fix things.  When Mercury is transiting the sign of Virgo, we can work on getting answers about our health and might even try a new diet or fitness routine.

There is yet another reason we need to mark the day of July 28.  It marks the third time this past week that Pluto in Capricorn is exactly squaring the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra at 29 degrees of their respective signs. And 29 degrees is the anaretic or critical degree, so we are dealing with important stuff.  Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the Nodes of the Moon departed the fixed signs of Taurus and Scorpio on July 17, the day of the New Moon in Cancer. The first two hits occurred on July 23 and July 25.  There is a great deal of Pluto activity going on these days and it is quite literally the astrological elephant in the room.  Pluto at the end of Capricorn is all about forcing us to let go, clean up what isn't working with the structures in our lives and moving forward.  It is a planetary demolition derby that is tearing down our old world for a rebirth to occur.  And, as I have often said, rebirth ain't always pretty.  Pluto is a slow-moving planet, so while many of us might feel intense pressure to make some major changes, just accept that we do have time to make them and it is okay to take baby steps.  It's like the old saying, Rome wasn't built in a day.  But we can't ignore the need for change, either.  Pluto in Capricorn will be squaring the Nodes until early November, so use this time to figure out your next steps.  If you don't make any choices regarding transforming your life, Pluto has a way of forcing change upon us that can be downright uncomfortable.

The month of August kicks off with a Super Full Moon in 9 degrees of Aquarius on the 1st. The term Super Full Moon just means that the Moon appears closer to the Earth and it appears larger and more visible.  We actually have two Full Moons in August; the second one happens on August 30 in 7 degrees of Pisces.  August is literally a Blue Moon month because of the two Full Moons.

The Full Moon in Aquarius has themes of the head versus the heart.  Aquarius is renowned for being an intellectual sign that loves community, organizations, groups and information.  Yet the Sun in Leo is very impassioned, impulsive, focused on the self, and emotional.  We could see more people dealing with issues of mental illness during this Full Moon.  There are some very interesting aspects in place during this Full Moon.  Mercury in Virgo is opposing Saturn in 5 degrees of Pisces, indicating that there could be some control issues over communication.  But Mercury is strong in Virgo and it can help us get to the root of problems.  Mars in Virgo is also trining Jupiter in 13 degrees of Taurus on the Full Moon.  This is a very positive aspect that encourages us to fight for our beliefs and the truth.  If you have been struggling to get an accurate diagnosis regarding a health issue, this could be your lucky break.  Venus in 27 degrees of Leo is also trining the North Node in Aries, which can be very inspirational and future-oriented energy.  Just be aware that Uranus in Taurus is also opposing Venus in Leo during this Full Moon, and this can be accompanied by disruptions in relationships as well as financial volatility.  This is par for the course for a Full Moon.  Uranus in Taurus will be opposing Venus in Leo for the first half of August.  And then Uranus joins the retrograde party on August 28.  More on that later...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Super Full Moon in Aquarius and Venus Enters Leo

We are all still feeling the effects of the Uranus/Mars/North Node conjunctions in Taurus that took place on July 31 and August 1.  The bottom line is that this volatile and unpredictable energy will continue through August 14.  Anyone with planets in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius is feeling this vibe the most intensely.  Fixed signs are resistant to change unless they are initiating it and let's face it, these days we are not in control of the changes that are happening.  The only thing we can control is our attitude towards these events. On August 11, we have two more planetary events occurring in fixed signs: another Super Full Moon, when the Moon is closer to the Earth making it appear larger than normal, in 19 degrees of Aquarius, and Venus enters the fixed fire sign of Leo.

But we have a couple of other important astrological aspects occurring on August 7 that help to set the stage for the events of August 11.  The first is Venus in Cancer forming an exact trine with Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces.  This is actually quite positive and will be quite favorable for compassion, creativity and inspiring forgiveness.  We need all of the positive aspects we can get during these challenging times, so make the most of it.  But going back to that fixed planet energy, we also have Mars in Taurus squaring Saturn in 22 degrees of Aquarius.  I have a natal Mars/Saturn involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio, so I am not exactly the biggest fan of this aspect.  My experience of it has been more of frustration over wanting to take action but being held back.  It can also feel somewhat isolating and/or depressing at times.  But I honestly believe that this is one time when Mars squaring Saturn can be a good thing.  How so?  Well, it can actually be used constructively to set some boundaries.  We all know that we need to move forward and make some changes, but Mars in Taurus is not exactly impulsive and spontaneous; that description pertains more to Mars in its own sign of Aries.  Mars in Taurus is a planner and plods along slowly to make changes that have a solid foundation.  But Saturn in Aquarius is able to come up with ingenious ways of solving problems and let's face it, Saturn is all about creating structures and boundaries.  Saturn is also retrograde, so it's a perfect time to go within and come up with ideas about the boundaries we need to create to empower the changes we need to make.  We all need to remember that while change is unavoidable, with all of this emphasis on fixed signs, it has to happen more slowly because we are building new foundations for our future.  So let's see if we can harness the energy of this aspect constructively.

The Full Moon in 19 degrees of Aquarius will be triggering the recent Uranus/Mars/North Node conjunction in Taurus.  This Full Moon can bring us some breakthroughs from the recent Mars/Uranus strife, but since Uranus rules the sign of Aquarius, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some incidents involving power outages, hacking, and Internet slowdowns because the Moon is squaring Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  The Full Moon is also squaring Mars in 25 degrees of Taurus, which can bring more conflicts.  It is also conjunct Saturn in 22 degrees of Aquarius, which could involve some feelings of depression, but it can also be positive for building networks and creating a sense of community, which are all Aquarian themes.

On the Full Moon, we have six planets in signs: the Sun and Venus in Leo, Moon and Saturn in Aquarius and Mars and Uranus in Taurus.  With all of this fixed energy, there is a strong likelihood of control issues coming up. Let us not forget that the Nodes of the Moon are in Taurus (North Node) and Scorpio (South Node) are also in fixed signs.  But the perk of all this fixed energy is that we will have more determination, focus and tenacity.  Mars in 25 degrees of  Taurus is also trining Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn, which can give us laser focus to empower us.  Full Moons also have a theme of completion, so it might be helpful for us to review what we began on the New Moon in 12 degrees of  Aquarius on February 1.  Has it reached a stage of culmination or is it time to end whatever we began because it has outlived its usefulness or served its purpose?

As I have stated previously, the fixed signs will be bearing the brunt of this Full Moon.  It is squaring my Sun and Venus in Scorpio and conjunct my Mars in Aquarius, so I know exactly what kind of wild card energy I am dealing with. Just a heads up to anyone with planets in 18-25 degrees of Taurus, Leo. Scorpio and Aquarius...  And I would definitely factor in an Ascendant, Node of the Moon and Midheaven in the fixed signs to this mix.

Venus enters Leo about seven hours before the Full Moon and is in the fixed fire sign until September 5.  When Venus is in Leo, romance becomes more dramatic with big gestures and lots of pride and passion.  We are craving admiration and attention.  We could be extremely generous with our loved ones and experience an urge to splurge because we are into luxury now, so watch those credit cards.  But we are also more creative, warm-hearted and tend to wear our hearts on our sleeves.  It can be a very enjoyable transit, so have some fun with it.
