The Month of June Ends with Mars Entering Gemini, a Full Moon in Capricorn, Mercury Retrograde in Cancer and Jupiter Moving into Leo

 

The fast pace momentum that has prevailed this month is continuing to the very end. On June 28, Mars enters Gemini until August 11 for the first time the summer of 2024. Our motivation is geared towards being more social, communicating and learning.  We are not as focused as we were when Mars was in the fixed earth sign of Taurus.  It's a simple fact that Gemini is mutable air so it can literally be all over the place.  It's easier to become scattered.  Minds are racing, there can be information overload, and anxiety can run rampant.  We want variety as diversity is very appealing to us.  We might also experience difficulty making decisions.  Multitasking is predominant.  Mental stimulation is a big turn-on in relationships now.

On the following day, June 29 we have two major astrological events.  First off, Mercury stations retrograde in 26 degrees of Cancer at 1:36 p.m.  Mercury is retrograde until July 23, when it goes direct in 16 degrees of Cancer.  We will be reassessing how we communicate our feelings and difficult conversations can occur, especially in families.  Mark my words, this will be a very emotional Mercury retrograde.  We can also be prone to acting passive-aggressive, as Cancer tends to be very self-protective.  But we can look forward to a day of clarity on July 12 when the Sun and Mercury are cazimi or conjunct in 20 degrees of Cancer.  Important insights can arrive from this Mercury retrograde.

There is a Full Moon in 8 degrees of Capricorn at 7:57 p.m. on June 29.  It is sometimes referred to as the Strawberry Moon because it occurs at the time of year when strawberries ripen.  The Full Moon in Capricorn highlights the pull between our private life and public professional life. This Full Moon is squaring Neptune in 4 degrees of Aries, which can trigger the issue of boundaries and confusion.  Neptune's involvement can also bring some type of water damage. The Moon is also widely squaring Saturn in 14 degrees of Aries, so  other strong themes with this Full Moon in Capricorn include fear, anxiety and ending a karmic cycle of boundaries.  Responsibilities will factor in and we might be required to step up.  Old wounds could be resurfacing for conversations, especially with Mercury going retrograde in Cancer on this Full Moon.  It can feel like a particularly harsh Full Moon (it is ruled by Saturn, after all), but it can help us to break cycles that deal with family issues.  Our spiritual intuition can be heightened on this day.  One bright spot of this Full Moon (or the saving grace aspect, as I like to call it) is the trine between Venus in Leo and Saturn in Aries.  This can be quite beneficial for finances.  Jupiter in 29 degrees of Cancer (that good old anaretic degree) is also conjunct Mercury in 26 degrees of Cancer, which can spark some mental optimism and curiosity.  We are thinking big as communication is heavily emphasized.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of this conjunction is a tendency towards mental overload, exaggeration and over-committing. The Full Moon is exactly conjunct my North Node in my 3rd house, so I know that I am in for some major conversations and responsibilities.  Anyone who has planets in the early degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will really feel the emotional intensity of this Full Moon.  But just remember it can lead to initiating some major changes in our lives.

On June 30, Jupiter enters the fixed fire sign of Leo until July 26, 2027.  The last time Jupiter was in Leo was from July 16, 2014 through August 11, 2015.  Jupiter in Leo loves to expand our creativity, self-expression, leadership ability and desire for fun.  It's great for romance and we are more willing to take risks.  We are up for living large, being more generous and taking center stage.  Jupiter in Leo is moving into a trine with Neptune in Aries which will be exact on July 20, bringing us luck and optimism that blends with imagination and spirituality.  But Jupiter in Leo will also be opposing Pluto in Aquarius on that day, which can lead to some leadership and entitlement issues.  The Jupiter in Leo transit should be enjoyable for everyone, if we can be mindful of its pitfalls: arrogance, ego amplification and a desire for excessive attention. Otherwise, enjoy the ride.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Power of Jupiter and Uranus in Fire Signs

We had a full moon in Leo on February 3rd, but many of us may have felt downright ebullient instead of on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I had a slight meltdown when the full moon opposed my Mars in the 4th house, but that had more to do with being snowbound for the second time in a week. The east coast is getting slammed with snow and bitterly cold weather this year. But how could the rest of us feel so optimistic? Well, we had Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries riding to our rescue.  Uranus in Aries has been a key player and its influence isn't letting up any time soon. It sextiled the Sun in Aquarius on February 2nd, ushering in a totally different way forward and an intense desire for change.

On February 3rd, I tweeted:

"Feeling that Uranian energy again today with full moon trining Uranus in Aries bringing lots of spontaneous vibes & desire for change."

The bottom line is that Uranus in Aries is actually giving us some support for a change. Uranus trined that full moon and is also conjunct the south node of the moon. Michael Lutin reminded us on his site that this conjunction is taking place at 13-15 degrees of Aries, which is where the seventh and final of the Uranus in Aries Pluto in Capricorn squares will occur in March. And it will be activated by transiting Mars in Aries.

According to Michael Lutin, attachment issues are a prevalent theme of this aspect and self preservation can veer into self absorption while the desire for independence can lead to a fanatical wish to control. We may have strong connections to the past, but ultimately our best course of action may be to let go of what is no longer serving our best interests, even if it has become a kind of security blanket for us.

Personally, I know that Uranus in Aries has been pretty scary for me in recent years with its transit to my sixth house and I have experienced all kinds of changes regarding my health, daily routine and work that were not exactly what I would have expected or welcomed.  I have literally had no choice but to roll with the punches, although I have frequently have felt like I was in a state of freefall with absolutely no control over the outcome and wondering where my journey was taking me.  Probably the most important lesson of this transit for me was to not get caught up in expectations and learn to surrender to change. This is no mean feat for me, especially with my natal Sun Saturn conjunction in the fixed sign of Scorpio.  Believe me, it is a supreme challenge for me to believe that the universe has a plan to provide me with something better, but I am harnessing all of my courage and faith that this tremendous surge of growth will lead to a deeper level of happiness.  I am banking on that nice, easy sextile aspect that Uranus has been making to my Gemini moon.  This is giving me my break by encouraging me to seek more emotional self-expression and satisfaction. It has also stimulated my imagination, and with a moon in the 8^th house, I will have ample opportunity for inspiration and intuition to kick into full gear. And Uranus will finally leave my sixth house on April 11^th, after the seventh Uranus Pluto square on March 17^th, a solar eclipse on March 20^th and a lunar eclipse on April 4^th.

Jupiter in Leo conjuncted the moon on February 4^th and this can bring unresolved issues to a completion within the next two weeks and imbue us with a more generous spirit. On February 4^th, I tweeted:

“Leo moon conjunct Jupiter today wants to party and enjoy life and continues full moon theme of desire for change.”

Jupiter in Leo was also trining Uranus in Aries, which can help us to see a new solution to an old problem.  A trine is a real boon, and when it involves these two planets, it can bring totally unexpected change.  It encourages thinking outside of the box and asking for help.  With Jupiter trining Uranus, if you ask for help, you have a really good shot at receiving it.

Jupiter in 17 degrees of Leo opposes the Sun in Aquarius on February 6^th. Oppositions to the Sun bring objectivity, and with Jupiter involved it provides space to turn inward and reconsider our hopes for the future.  It also affords us the opportunity to acquire more detachment and be less egotistical.  It literally represents the best of both sides of Aquarius and Leo.

Saturn and Uranus Stations at Sweet Sixteen Degrees

Saturn stationed direct at 16 degrees of Scorpio on July 20th and Uranus stationed retrograde at 16 degrees of Aries on July 21st. The astrological world was buzzing with speculation over these two strange bedfellows' movements. Astrologer Pam Younghans described its energy as a push pull motion. Saturn likes to be conservative and Uranus is rebellious, so the challenge is to find a reasonable way to proceed that will provide the new energy we need.

I don't think it is an accident that both of these planets stationed at 16 degrees of their respective signs, creating an inconjunct or quincunx aspect. I am all too familiar with this aspect, as I have two in my chart. I have my Gemini moon inconjunct my Saturn in Scorpio and my Chiron in Capricorn inconjunct my Pluto in Leo. I have always loved how Dietrech Pessin describes this aspect: "life's messy, clean it up aspect".  I can definitely attest to that description! The bottom line is that this 150 degree aspect requires an enormous amount of adjustment to get the planets involved to function in a semblance of order in one's life. And Michael Lutin's interpretation of the Saturn and Uranus stations totally resonated for me; he likened it to being hungry and nauseous at the same time! Check it out at his site:

As for me personally, I was so elated that Saturn was finally moving direct and on July 20th that I tweeted: 

"Saturn in Scorpio ends its 4 month retrograde today and there is hope for progress in long term goals."

  

 I also hosted my first Reiki Open House that evening to honor that theme and offer more people the opportunity to experience the benefits of Reiki.

The fact of the matter is that Saturn in 16 degrees of Scorpio and Uranus in 16 degrees of Aries are hitting all of us in different areas of our chart. Everyone is feeling the effects of these two planets in different areas of our lives. Transiting Saturn is in my second house now inconjunct my moon in Gemini, which is an aspect that I have natally.  So I am not kidding when I say that Saturn in Scorpio is all about rebirth for me.  Saturn inconjunct the moon is all about self-doubt, low self-esteem and feeling like you have to work really hard to be loved.  Periods of depression, anxiety and frustration are part of the baggage of this aspect, but is power lies in its ability to learn by experience.  Yes, there are definitely roadblocks along with way, but the power of this aspect lies in learning from experience and the salvation of self-knowledge. I certainly have been blessed with a plethora of self-knowledge in the past couple of years.  Another bonus of this aspect is that like a fine wine, it gets better with age because it boosts your self-esteem.  I am no longer as consumed with trying to please others because I have learned the hard way that if I can’t trust someone, then I should not try harder to appease them.   

The fact that transiting Saturn is also squaring my natal Mars in Aquarius (another natal aspect that I possess) only adds fuel to the fire in my attempts to create a new life.  Transiting Saturn is also conjunct my Lilith. Since Lilith pertains to the darker side of the moon, I am struggling with the issue of structuring my instincts and experiencing frustration in achieving my goals.  So, yes, I am really getting a double whammy emotionally these days. I know that this transit will continue through mid-September and then Saturn conjuncts my Sun. I know that transit won't exactly be a day at the beach either but I have had it before and pretty much know to expect that I will probably be tired and depressed. Or I could luck out because this is the final pass of this transit for nearly another 30 years and maybe I will  receive some well deserved success for all of my hard work.  A gal can dream, can't she?

As for Uranus in 16 degrees of Aries, it is currently opposing my Libra ascendant and a few seconds away from my seventh house. Its retrograde motion will send it back into my sixth house, so I fully expect that issues of health and changes in my daily routine will emerge. I quit my job a year ago and over the past three years experienced several health problems with this transit. However, I am not as concerned about Uranus retrograde as I was about Saturn retrograde.  I was born with Uranus retrograde, so I am somewhat comfortable with it as it tends to operate with my natural Uranian expression.  And it is sextiling my moon in Gemini, which is one bonus from this Uranus retrograde.  Sextiles and trines are to be appreciated because they are flowing, not challenging, aspects.  So my chart is literally living proof of the Saturn and Uranus push pull theory in action! 

This week was not all gloom and doom though.  The Sun entered Leo on July 22^nd, which lightened the tone after an emotional month in the sign of Cancer and on July 24^th the Sun conjuncted Jupiter in Leo, which prompted me to tweet:

“Sun in Leo conjunct Jupiter today amplifies enthusiasm for enjoying life.”

We have more good things coming over the weekend.  Mars, which seems to have spent an eternity in the sign of Libra, where it is definitely not comfortable, finally enters the sign of Scorpio on July 25^th at 10:25 p.m.  Scorpio is a much better fit astrologically for Mars’ aggressive energies.  And we have a new moon in Leo on July 26^th in 3 degrees of Leo.  This new moon is also conjunct Jupiter in Leo, so we can expect to fully enjoy what life has to offer this weekend.  The Sun rules the sign of Leo and Leo is shining brightly with both the moon and Jupiter in Leo.  Socialize, shine and enjoy this weekend!

Jolly Jupiter Moves into Leo

On July 16^thth Jupiter ended its year-long transit in the watery, emotional sign of Cancer and entered the fiery, fun-loving sign of Leo at 6:30 a.m.  Jupiter was last in the sign of Leo from August 2002 through August 2003.  This is good news for Leos and everyone else, as Jupiter in Leo fosters creativity, play, romance, drama, and the child within while doing its Jupiterian thing of giving us hope.

Jupiter is reputed to be exalted in the sign of Cancer, but many of us felt it to be emotionally overwhelming, in spite of its trines to Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. Those trines did provide somewhat of an escape hatch from the tensions of the Uranus Pluto square, but most of us experienced enormous anxiety from the deep transformation wrought by the Uranus Pluto square and the Cardinal Grand Cross.

On July 16^th I posted two tweets on Twitter reflecting my thoughts on Jupiter in Cancer and its entrance into Leo:

“I think Jupiter’s exaltation in Cancer was caught in the crossfire of the Uranus Pluto square and the cardinal cross.”

“Big day as Jupiter enters Leo today.  Good things ahead for Leos. Creativity and living in the moment are major themes for all of us.”

My first major contact with Jupiter in Cancer occurred last summer when it conjuncted my south node of the moon in the 9^th house.  This was not the jolliest of transits, let me tell you.  It forced me to reassess my connection to my 17 year job in a large university that was becoming increasingly demanding and seriously impacting my health.  Jupiter conjuncting the south node is notorious for being stressful and a time for reassessing one’s connections with individuals or groups that may be holding you back from moving on with your life’s path—your north node.  I have never found letting go to be an easy experience with the preponderance of water planets in my chart, and this was no exception.  But I did ultimately make the decision to resign from my position that had afforded me security in order to pursue what I intuitively felt to be my life’s work as an astrologer and healer.  That south node in Cancer has always craved emotional security from my family and job, but deep down I know that my north node in Capricorn needs to be out in the world and establish myself without a security blanket.  I also have my Sun in the 2^nd house, so being a self-made person is a major theme in my chart.  But nobody ever said that living your north node was a cake walk.

My natal Jupiter is stationary retrograde at 29 degrees of Cancer, so progress for me is impossible for me without a major review of the lessons of that planet.  On July 15^th I tweeted:

“Today can be very emotional and nostalgic as Jupiter spends its last day in Cancer and Pisces moon conjuncts Neptune.”

This tweet seemed to resonate for some other folks, because it garnered 148 views, five retweets and five favorites.

I am currently experiencing my Jupiter Return in the 10^th house now and Jupiter in Leo will only enhance that experience for me by boosting my creativity. Jupiter will be in my 10^th house until July 10, 2015 before it moves into my 11^th house.  And that is also a transit to eagerly anticipate—experiencing expansion of my hopes and dreams and new group associations.

On this Sunday I am hosting a Reiki Open House with a theme of balancing one’s energy to combat the Sunday night blues that 59% of Americans face at the thought of going back to their jobs on Monday.  I am offering free ten minute chair treatments to potential new clients.  In the spirit of Jupiter in Leo, I think this is a fun way to be introduced to Reiki and engage in a little self-care.  And what self-respecting Leo is going to balk at the thought of some free self-care?

Jupiter in Leo will also be making a trine to Uranus in Aries in September 2014, which will be a welcome relief from the tension of Jupiter in Cancer squaring it earlier this year.  It’s delightful to have to those two fire signs playing nicely together to initiate change and give a boost to innovative energies.  Bring it on, Jupiter in Leo!
