Venus and Mercury on the Move as Mercury Goes Direct and Venus Enters Libra

 

What a week this has been!  Hopefully all of you have survived the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19, when I posted:

Venus is still in Virgo until August 29 and it makes a couple of major aspects before it departs.  The first is on August 27 when it trines Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus. Trines are pretty nice and I happen to have this aspect natally, so I can personally attest to that.  When Venus is trining Uranus, we are likely to have the urge to try something new in life, either in romance, creative endeavors or our hobbies.  It's a perfect time for socializing and perhaps meeting someone new if you are unattached.  It can also pave the way for a financial windfall.

On August 28, Venus in Virgo will be opposing Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces. This aspect can create deceptions or illusions in relationships or finances.  Be mindful not to be too gullible or trusting because we are likely to fall victim to predators now who will take advantage of our good nature.  Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true.  A more constructive way to deal with this aspect is to engage in a more spiritual approach to life by engaging in some soul searching, meditating or just plain enjoying the arts.

The best thing about the date of August 28 is that Mercury stations direct in 21 degrees of Leo.  Mercury has been retrograde since August 4, when it reversed course in 4 degrees of Virgo.  I don't know anyone who doesn't agree that this has been one tough Mercury retrograde, especially with the recent Full Moon in Aquarius which Mercury in Leo opposed.  And it's always more complicated when a Mercury retrograde occurs in two signs.  We will start to feel some relief in matters related to communication and transportation.  And hopefully our electronics will start functioning normally again. Just remember that Mercury doesn't clear its retrograde shadow until September 12 when it hits 4 degrees of Virgo.  Mercury moves back into Virgo on September 9 and remains in Virgo until September 26.  But Mercury rules Virgo and is very comfortable there.

Venus moves into its happy place of Libra on August 29, where it stays until September 22.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is definitely in a better state.  Love is in the air as partnerships take on more of a priority in our lives.  It is a time to be fair and make whatever compromises are necessary to keep peace and harmony in our lives.  We also find it easier to cooperate with others.  And we could also find ourselves preoccupied with beauty and style.  So it is definitely a good time ahead.

Venus in Libra will be trining Pluto in Aquarius on the 29th, which can add intensity and passion to our relationships in a good way because it focuses on the joy piece of the equation.  Remember it's a trine, not a square or opposition.  We might feel compelled to splurge on some luxury items but we can also find new ways to increase our cash flow.

We are definitely getting a bit of a respite after an extremely volatile month, so make the most of it, everyone!

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Lunar Eclipse in Taurus and Venus Trines Uranus

The last eclipse of 2023 is upon us.  On October 28, we have a Lunar Eclipse in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Many of us are still reeling from the Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 14, but as we all know, eclipses come in pairs and here comes the second one.  This Lunar Eclipse has a great deal of fixed energy with the Moon, Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus and the Sun, Mars, Mercury in Scorpio. Views and beliefs are going to remain very firm. I promise you that if you have any planets around 5 degrees of any of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, you are going to feel this eclipse more acutely than the rest of us.  And with the world in its current state, that is saying something...

What are the themes of this eclipse?  As with any Full Moon, and we all know that Lunar Eclipses are like Full Moons on steroids, emotional volatility is running rampant. Let's hope that all of this highly charged emotion can find an outlet to clear and release.  We also have a preponderance of planets in water: the Sun, Mars, and Mercury in Scorpio, and Neptune and Saturn in Pisces. Mars in Scorpio is playing a pivotal role in this eclipse.  It will be instrumental in digging up lots of secrets, possibly about big money.  Mars in Scorpio is right at home and is very feisty. It is forming an exact opposition to Jupiter in 11 degrees of Taurus, and this can add another layer of intensity.  Mars aspecting Jupiter amplifies old angers, hurts and grudges.  And Jupiter has a vibe of self-righteousness while feeling justified about it.  There is strong potential for nasty energy to prevail and violence to emerge. Mercury in Scorpio will be exactly conjunct Mars on October 29, which will only fuel the provocative and angry vibe.  Mercury in Scorpio siding with Mars in Scorpio and opposing Jupiter in Taurus is pretty fierce energy and has a very sharp tongue.  I have a natal Mercury in Scorpio, and believe me, it qualifies as a lethal weapon.  Mars and Mercury in Scorpio are also conjunct my natal Saturn in Scorpio in my 1st house, so I suspect that I am in for some frustration and I will undoubtedly shoot off my mouth during this eclipse.

Another feature of this Lunar Eclipse is a configuration called a Mystic Rectangle.  A Mystic Rectangle occurs when there are two trines, two sextiles and two oppositions with the planets.  Venus in 18 degrees of Virgo is trining Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus while the Sun in 5 degrees of Scorpio is trining Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces.  The planets in opposition involve the Sun in 5 degrees of Scorpio and the Moon in 5 degrees of Taurus, and Mars in 11 degrees of Scorpio opposing Jupiter in 11 degrees of Taurus.  And finally, the sextiles, are Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces sextiling Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus and Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces sextiling the Moon in 5 degrees of Taurus.  The theme of a Mystic Rectangle is balance and integration.  The trick is to deal with the oppositions consciously.  This will definitely not be a quiet eclipse, but hopefully it will release some much-needed steam so that we can move forward.  If you have a Mystic Rectangle in your natal chart, it indicates that the individual has a calling in life.  This can actually be the saving grace aspect of the Lunar Eclipse.  

On October 31 (Halloween), Venus in Virgo has an exact trine to Uranus in 21 degrees. Retrograde Venus in Leo was squaring Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus on August 9 and Venus direct in Leo was squaring retrograde in 22 degrees of Taurus on September 29, 2023.  These two squares undoubtedly created a great deal of tension and friction in relationships, especially the first hit when Venus was retrograde.  Venus trining Uranus gives us the urge to try something new in love or in our social life. It has a certain restless vibe about it; I speak from experience because I have natal Venus in Scorpio trining Uranus in Cancer.  And they are both retrograde, to boot.  It can also favor shopping, creativity and generate a financial windfall.  I would like to think that with Venus now trining Uranus, we can sort out any relationship issues that cropped up with the two squares.  If anyone broke up during them, there could be some reconciliations afoot...

I just want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a peaceful and enlightening Lunar Eclipse.  Tempers could flare but try to stay safe and engage in breathing deeply before taking any actions you might later regret.  The combination of the Sun, Mars and Mercury in Scorpio opposing the Moon and Jupiter in Taurus is bound to be quite loud.

Relationships Take the Stage with Venus Squaring Mars and Trining Uranus and the Sun Entering Libra

 

Relationships are taking center stage with a great deal of Venus action and the Sun moving into Libra on September 22.  We start off on September 16 with Venus in Virgo forming an exact square to Mars in 14 degrees of Gemini.  This aspect can increase our sex drive, but if we have experiencing any tensions in our relationships, it can create more difficulties as it tends to exacerbate anger, impulsiveness and a lack of self-control. It can have a rather grumpy vibe.  I know that I will be feeling this aspect because Mars is exactly conjunct my Moon in Gemini in the 8th house.

The Sun in Virgo is also in an exact opposition to Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces on September 16.  This aspect can manifest in low energy and feelings of vulnerability, insecurity and general discouragement.  We are very susceptible to con artists on this day, so if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So there is no doubt that this will impact relationships.  It will be very easy to get seduced on this day and have nothing to show for it.  The plus side of this aspect is that can bring bursts of creativity and inspiration.  Once again, I am in the line of fire with this action because the Virgo Sun is forming a supportive sextile to my Venus in Scorpio while Neptune is trining it.  But I think I will still need to be careful with finances.  

In case you have been living under a rock, Mercury stationed retrograde on September 9th.  It started out in Libra, which is bound to affect communication in relationships but it enters Virgo on September 23 and stations direct in 24 degrees of Virgo on October 2.   On September 18, retrograde Mercury in Libra will be exactly opposing Jupiter in 4 degrees of Aries.  If this sounds familiar, that is because we previously experienced this aspect on September 2nd.  The characteristics of this aspect are grandiose plans, lack of clarity and a tendency to gloss over details.  This is take two of this aspect and we get to experience it again on October 12 when Mercury is direct and Jupiter is still retrograde in Aries.

On September 20, Venus in Virgo is exactly trining Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  I have a natal Venus/Uranus trine involving Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer, so I am very familiar with this energy.  We are going to be craving excitement and something new in our lives on this day.  It tends to stimulate our craving for variety and something different.  However, bear in mind that if you do meet someone new at this time, it might not last due to the nature of Uranus being sudden and brief.

The Fall Equinox occurs on September 22 when the Sun enters Libra.  When the Sun is in the cardinal air sign of Libra, our focus is geared towards relationships as we are more open to compromise and negotiation.  We also tend to be more social and tactful, which is always appreciated.  But there is a shadow side to the Sun in Libra: decision-making is more challenging as Libra is the sign that loves to weigh all of the options and that can take forever.  We can also be more superficial and engage in passive-aggressive behavior.  Don't forget that the Sun is considered to be in Fall in Libra because it has a hard time asserting itself due to its need to define itself through relationships.  The Sun is considered to be exalted in Aries because Aries generally has no problems with self-assertion.

An Action Packed and Exciting Week with Mars Square Pluto, Venus Trine Uranus and Mercury Stationing Retrograde in Scorpio

The month of October is continuing to be very active astrologically, due in no small part to retrograde Mars in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn on October 9, 2020 and Mercury in Scorpio which is preparing to station retrograde on October 13, 2020.  Sandwiched in between these events, we get a couple of breaks with Venus in Virgo trining Uranus in Taurus on October 10^th and Jupiter in Capricorn sextiling Neptune in Pisces on October 12^th. 

Retrograde Mars in Aries is exactly squaring Pluto in 22 degrees of Capricorn on October 9^th.  This is definitely an intense aspect.  Confrontations and power struggles will run rampant and people will feel more assertive as the desire to gain control over people or situations is very strong.  COVID-19 plays a pivotal role in fueling the intensity of this aspect because it certainly symbolizes a situation that we seemingly have no control over.  We are also dealing with a desire to make impulsive changes in our lives, but the best course of action for dealing with this aspect is to release the need for control and surrender to the transformation that is occurring.  Remember that Mars is about desire and Pluto is all about transformation, and a square aspect symbolizes tension.  This is a time to avoid ruthlessness and underhanded tactics at all costs because if we don’t we could wind up becoming a victim. Just warning you… 

We also experienced this aspect on August 13^th when Pluto was retrograde in 23 degrees of Capricorn and we will experience this aspect for the third and final time on December 23, 2020 when both Mars and Pluto are direct in 23 degrees of their respective signs.  I tend to think that the third time an aspect hits is the charm because hopefully we have learned the lesson of incorporating the energy constructively into our lives.  It’s also very interesting that by December 23^rd both Saturn and Jupiter will be in Aquarius and their conjunction in Aquarius will have occurred on December 21^st.

On the following day, October 10^th, Venus in Virgo is forming an exact flowing, beneficial trine with Uranus in 9 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can bring excitement in love, finances and gambling if you are so inclined. It’s also a great aspect for shopping and a little retail therapy. It holds the potential for favorable manifestations in relationships and finances that crop up out of the blue and sudden breakthroughs are possible.  We will experience more flexibility in relationships and finances.  The only caveat with this aspect is that if you do meet someone new, it may not be a relationship that lasts very long because Uranus has a way of shaking things up to bring excitement and novelty into your life.  I have this aspect natally and I can still remember when a psychic many years ago described me as an excitement junkie in relationships.  Venus trining Uranus was the culprit and I confess that I have always needed a lot of space and freedom in relationships which caused me to be attracted to offbeat types. 

On October 12, 2020, Jupiter in Capricorn is forming an exact supportive sextile to Neptune in 18 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect has a very spiritually enlightening and optimistic vibe.  Intuition will be strong on this day.  This aspect represents an opportunity to engage in any ventures involving creativity, spirituality and compassion.  This is the third and final time we experience this aspect in 2020; the previous two occurred on February 20^th in 17 degrees and on July 27^th in 20 degrees when both Jupiter and Neptune were retrograde.  Neptune is still retrograde, but Jupiter is now direct, so make the most of this aspect. 

On October 13, 2020, Mercury stations retrograde in 11 degrees of Scorpio.  It re-enters Libra on October 27, 2020 and stations direct on November 3, 2020 (the day of the United States Presidential election) in 25 degrees of Libra.  Mercury will re-enter Scorpio on November 10, 2020 where it remains until December 1, 2020.

But Mercury in Scorpio has been creating quite a ruckus already.  Mercury entered its retrograde shadow period on September 23, 2020 and it won’t clear its retrograde shadow period until November 19, 2020.  On October 7, 2020, Mercury in Scorpio formed an exact opposition to Uranus in 9 degrees of Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

Unexpected news could arrive today with Mercury in Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus. Anxiety levels could ramp up as a result. The tension is palpable. #astrology

The United States had its only Vice Presidential debate on October 7^th and while it thankfully wasn’t as volcanic as the Presidential debate on September 29^th, it did create a certain amount of buzz politically.

Retrograde Mercury in Scorpio will be heavily invested in digging deep to unearth secrets.  We can expect heightened emotional defensiveness and a sharp and sarcastic edge to communications.  We may get a bit of break in that sarcastic edge when Mercury re-enters Libra on October 27^th. Remember the three R’s associated with retrogrades: Review, Reflect and Reassess.  Of course, it goes without saying that when a planet is stationing retrograde or direct, its power is magnified and intensified.  We can expect the usual Mercury retrograde manifestations: problems and delays with communication and transportation, electronic snafus and avoid signing contracts if at all possible. Accepting a new job during Mercury Retrograde is not the wisest course of action, either, unless it is with a previous employer. I have heard so many people say that a job they accepted during Mercury Retrograde was totally different than what they thought it would be.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I recently learned that I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
