Mercury in Leo Gets Very Busy with Saturn, Neptune and Pluto Before it Enters its Retrograde Shadow

 

Mercury in Leo is definitely quite active this week before it starts slowing down and entering its retrograde shadow in 4 degrees of Leo on June 30.  That's right folks, Mercury retrograde will be official on July 18 when it stations in 15 degrees of Leo until August 11.

On June 27, Mercury in Leo will be trining Saturn in 1 degree of Aries.  Trines are positive aspects, and this one will help us focus on details so that we can make those important decisions.  This is a very favorable aspect for making long-term plans and signing contracts.  Think of it as a cosmic green light for moving forward.  

Since Saturn and Neptune are traveling together in Aries, it should come as no surprise that Mercury in Leo will be trining Neptune in 1 degree of Aries on June 28.  This aspect will stimulate our creativity, imagination and spirituality.  We are more sensitive to vibrations, more intuitive and able to communicate in a more empathetic manner with compassion.  We are also able to see the big picture more easily.  As someone who has a Mercury-Neptune conjunction, I can attest to the fact that when these two planets get together, we can definitely be more psychic and intuitive.

Mercury in Leo will be opposing Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius on June 29.  This promises to be a very intense day.  Secrets could be revealed and things can come to a head.  Mind control, intimidation and psychological abuse are the worst-case scenarios for this aspect.  Both Mercury and Pluto are squaring my natal Mercury in Scorpio while Pluto is conjunct my progressed Sun in Aquarius, so I have no doubt that I will be feeling this aspect quite acutely.  Anyone who has planets or points (Ascendant, Descendant, IC, Midheaven or Nodes of the Moon) in 0-3 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will be in the line of fire.  Conspiracy theories could surface too.  There is a tremendous surge of mental intensity and we run the risk of being consumed by obsessions.  There can very well be heated arguments and power struggles on this day.  It is possible, however, to channel this energy constructively by facing deep-seated psychological issues.  Therapists could see a surge in business as a result of this aspect.  All I can say to you is pick your battles wisely on this day...

Mercury starts slowing down and enters its retrograde shadow on June 30 in 4 degrees of Leo, stations retrograde in 15 degrees of Leo on July 15, goes direct on August 11 in 4 degrees of Leo and clears the retrograde shadow on August 25 when it hits 15 degrees of Leo.  Interesting times are ahead.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars Enters Sagittarius, Saturn in Pisces Calls the Shots and a Full Moon in Gemini

 

The Sun might be in Sagittarius as of November 22, 2023 and Mars will enter Sagittarius on November 24 until January 4, 2024, but that doesn't mean the intensity of November is over.  Far from it.

Mars in Sagittarius is a whole different animal from Mars in Scorpio, which it has been in since October 12, 2023.  Mars is a co-ruler of Scorpio, so it is intense and strong in the fixed water sign of Scorpio.  Mars in Sagittarius is motivated by higher ideals, as well as a search for truth and justice. We could also be driven to learn and travel.  When Mars is in Sagittarius, it is very easy to act judgmental and preachy.  It is also in a mutable fire sign, so it is extremely easy to lose one's temper.  The perk of having Mars in a fire sign is that it blows over quickly.  You certainly can't say that about Mars in Scorpio, which can hold a grudge for eternity.  

But Mars in Sagittarius runs into some trouble when it squares Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces on November 25. This aspect represents conflict and a need to integrate the energies of the two planets involved so that they can co-exist.  I know this all too well because I have a natal Mars-Saturn square involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio. It can literally feel like you have one foot on the gas and the other foot on the brake, which gets you nowhere fast. Frustration is the name of the game, for sure. Patience is not one of my strong points, so it is an ongoing battle for me. And while pivotal role in my life. When Mars in Sagittarius squares Saturn in Pisces on the 25th, we are going to be dealing with a major theme of delayed gratification and a need for patience.  Sagittarius is a very impatient and impulsive sign and is not exactly compatible with Pisces. But they are mutable signs, so there is hope for finding a way to integrate these energies.  We are not going to be able to get what we desire (Mars) as quickly as we want because Saturn is making us work for it to achieve our goals.  Saturn loves to test us and that is one of the way it teaches us.  

The Sun entered Sagittarius on November 22 and on the following day, November 23, it too squared Saturn in Pisces.  This wasn't the most jolly and expansive energy for a Thanksgiving holiday, but I hope that my American readers managed to find some joy and a reward for whatever efforts we had to expend on this day.

We do have one other astrological event happening on November 25.  Mercury enters its retrograde shadow in 22 degrees of Sagittarius. Mercury officially goes retrograde on December 13 in 8 degrees of Capricorn until January 1, 2024 when it stations direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius.  Mercury will clear its retrograde shadow on January 21, 2024.  The bottom line with this Mercury retrograde shadow period, as well as the full-fledged Mercury retrograde, is to avoid purchasing any electronic devices if you can help it.  Enough said...

On November 27, we have a Full Moon in 4 degrees of Gemini.  This is going to be a juicy Full Moon that can reveal secrets and can indicate the ending of the old order. It can be volatile and intense, as Full Moons are wont to do, so try to breathe before saying anything you might regret.  There is a preponderance of mutable planets involved in this Full Moon: the Sun, Mars, Mercury, and Ceres in Sagittarius, the Moon in Gemini and Neptune and Saturn in Pisces.  So, emotionally, we can be all over the place. The heavy emphasis in Sagittarius planets has us seeking freedom, truth, optimism and feeling quite restless.  We can also be very opinionated and judgmental. We will not escape the influence of Saturn with this Full Moon, as we are still feeling Saturn in Pisces squaring the Sun in Sagittarius, which can manifest in limitations, fears and control issues.  It is a good time to be totally honest about your fears. It is also squaring the Moon in Gemini, which can lead to a feeling of being controlled by our emotions.  It represents an opportunity to set some boundaries in relationships. And the Moon in Gemini is opposing Mars in Sagittarius, which only adds fuel to the emotional fire. Neptune in Pisces is squaring Mercury in Sagittarius, which can add a dose of creativity or confusion.  The Moon in Gemini will offer choices, but it can make us somewhat indecisive. We can feel like we are confronted with a smorgasbord.  I guarantee you that it won't be boring.  I have a natal Moon in Gemini myself, and I can tell you that mental stimulation, learning and talking about your feelings is a viable option.

It's Getting Personal as Mercury, the Sun and Venus Make Some Major Moves This Week

 

Well, we have survived the first Full Moon in the month of August on August 1, when I posted on Twitter:

This coming week, the personal planets of the Sun, Mercury and Venus are getting a lot of action.  On August 4, Mercury in 8 degrees of Virgo enters its retrograde shadow period. Mercury doesn't officially retrograde until August 23 when it stations at 21 degrees of Virgo, but it is starting to slow down and on August 4 it enters its retrograde shadow because it hits the degree where it will station direct on September 15.  Be prepared for things to get a little wonky in terms of communication and transportation.  If you think it feels like Mercury retrograde in terms of delays, misunderstandings or missed messages, you are not imagining it.  Nobody really likes Mercury retrograde, but it is a fact of life and being forewarned is being forearmed.  The other end of the Mercury retrograde occurs on September 30 when Mercury clears its retrograde shadow in 21 degrees of Virgo.

The Sun in Leo is squaring Jupiter in 14 degrees of Taurus on August 6.  This aspect can be a mixed bag, as aspects to Jupiter, even the challenging ones likes squares and oppositions, are never all bad.  Jupiter is the planet that likes to expand whatever it touches and is associated with good fortune and luck.  The Sun is planet that represents our life force and ego.  When these two planets get together, we literally can have too much of a good thing as hubris, being full of oneself, overly optimistic and the concept of our eyes being bigger than our stomach can prevail.  So yet, it's possible to gain weight on this day if we overindulge. We might come off to others as haughty and humility is Missing in Action.  We have a tendency to bite off more than we can chew.  There is a strong theme of going overboard in our actions and partying too hard.  But the more positive side of the Sun squaring Jupiter is that we can utilize its energy to get centered and be more magnanimous to others by sharing our wisdom.  Jupiter loves wisdom and the Sun in Leo can be very generous.  Try to harness the positive traits so that our ego is more balanced and in control in a good way.  It can be a day of giving back if we work it right.

On August 9, retrograde Venus in Leo is squaring Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can challenge the stability of relationships via unexpected events or urges. We will probably experience a need for more freedom or excitement.  Don't be afraid to try to something new in relationships.  Venus squaring Uranus can also trigger some impulse purchases, so watch those credit cards on this day.

Mercury in Virgo is forming a delightful trine to Jupiter in 14 degrees of Taurus on August 9th as well. This is an extremely favorable aspect that makes learning fun, encourages optimism and can be the messenger of very good news.  It is a perfect time to make plans for the future and to travel.   

The 9th of August has some complex dynamics going down. While some might be apprehensive about the Venus-Uranus square (and I am in that camp because Venus is conjuncting my natal Pluto in Leo and squaring my natal Sun and Venus in Scorpio), Mercury in Virgo is forming a supportive sextile to my natal Saturn in Scorpio.  Yes, I realize that Jupiter in Taurus is opposing my natal Saturn, but I am trusting in Mercury to see me through the day in good stead.

Mars Moves into Pisces and Mercury Retrogrades

Here comes the drum roll for the end of 2016.  We have just experienced the last full moon of 2016 on December 13^th in 22 degrees of Gemini and on December 19, 2016. Saturn in Sagittarius was quite the heavy hitter in that full moon, as I tweeted on that day:

Mars will enter the sign of Pisces while Mercury will enter its last retrograde period for 2016 when it stations retrograde at 15 degrees of Capricorn.

This Mercury retrograde should be particularly interesting because while it starts out in Capricorn, the sign of big business, finances and government, it winds up slipping back into Sagittarius on January 5, 2017 and stations direct in 29 degrees of Sagittarius on January 8, 2017.  I find this intriguing because 29 degrees of any sign is known as the critical or anaretic degree.  When a planet or point (like the ascendant, midheaven or node) is at 29 degrees, there are usually unresolved issues to be faced, generally in the area of decision making.  With Mercury spending over a week in the sign of Sagittarius, we are at the end of a spiritual cycle dealing with old belief systems that no longer serve a purpose.  Some astrologers even consider that if a natal chart contains a planet at 29 degrees of a sign, there is an increased sense of urgency to finish learning the lessons of that sign and get it right in this incarnation.

Mercury will be stationing direct in 29 degrees of Sagittarius on January 8, 2017 and re-enters the sign of Capricorn on January 13, 2017 (Friday the 13^th no less).  But for those of us who believe in the theory of the shadow of Mercury retrograde (and I am definitely on Team Mercury Retrograde Shadow), we are not out of the woods until Mercury is back to full speed on January 27, 2017 in 15 degrees of Capricorn.  Mercury actually entered the shadow phase on December 1, 2016 while it was in Sagittarius. It actually inspired me to reply to a tweet on December 10th about the upcoming Mercury retrograde:

And this means that the United States of America will be inaugurating a new President under the influence of a Mercury Retrograde Shadow.  Enough said.

As for Mars moving into Pisces, pardon the pun, but that is a whole other kettle of fish.  It is no big secret that Mars is not very comfortable in Pisces because the natural aggression of Mars is tamped down and its hidden agendas make it difficult to move forward.  The bright side of Mars in Pisces, however, is that it is favorable energy for healing and the arts.

Mars in Pisces is definitely passive but can be prone to indirect aggression because it detests confrontation.  Mars in Pisces can be a time of putting others needs before our own, which can be all right if done in moderation and boundaries aren’t trampled. But Pisces is also the sign of the savior and the martyr, so it can be a tricky transit.  Pisces is a mutable sign that operates by going with the flow while Mars is all about wanting action.  So the key to surviving and thriving with this Mars in Pisces transit through January 28, 2017, is to allow it to happen.
