Mercury on the Move from Scorpio to Sagittarius, Mars in Sagittarius Squaring Saturn in Pisces and Neptune Goes Direct in Pisces

 

Mercury is direct and moving more quickly as it prepares to re-enter Sagittarius on December 11.  But it still has some unfinished business to conduct in Scorpio first.  On December 6, Mercury in Scorpio will be trining Jupiter in 24 degrees of Cancer.  This can bring good news and is quite favorable for making plans.  It's also positive energy for traveling or learning.  Just be mindful of the tendency to be too impulsive or overconfident.

On December 7, Mercury in Scorpio will be trining Saturn in 25 degrees of Cancer.  Things will get more serious with strong attention to details.  Common sense will prevail. Self-discipline and critical thinking are in high supply on this day.  

I just want to caution everyone that Mercury in its final days of Scorpio can be quite sharp in the way it communicates.  When Mercury enters Sagittarius on December 11 until January 1, 2026, communication takes on a blunt, direct and sometimes tactless tone.  The difference between Mercury in Scorpio and Mercury in Sagittarius is that the cruelty and biting words that emerge during Mercury in Scorpio are intentional and carefully calculated, while it just sort of happens without thinking when Mercury is in Sagittarius.

Mars in Sagittarius is squaring Saturn in 25 degrees of Pisces on December 8.  This aspect is kicking off the squares between the planets in Sagittarius and Pisces that will characterize the month of December.  The Sun in Sagittarius will be squaring Saturn in Pisces on December 16, then the Sun will be squaring Neptune in Pisces on December 20 and Venus in Sagittarius will be squaring Saturn in Pisces on December 21. And we could be feeling the effects of this Mars-Saturn square a couple of days early.

What can we expect with Mars squaring Saturn?  Well, I have this aspect natally with Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio, so I can tell you that its theme is delayed gratification. This aspect is my life, like it or not.  We need to do our behaviors differently.  Frustrations, limitations and inhibitions are part and parcel of this aspect.  Mars is the planet of action and wants to accelerate while Saturn is overly cautious with its foot on the brake.  The most challenging piece of this aspect is that we need to accept the fact that progress will probably not happen on this day and it will be very easy to become discouraged or depressed.  If we try to fight the restrictions we are facing, we could wind up being our own worst enemy.  Trust me on this score, I have learned this lesson the hard way through the years.  Sometimes I think it is the most self-destructive aspect in my chart.  Yes, we might be fearing failure, but try to strengthen your patience.  This is the key to gleaning an opportunity from this challenging aspect. Patience needs to be cultivated.

Neptune finally goes direct in 29 degrees of Pisces on December 10.  Neptune stationed retrograde in 2 degrees of Aries on July 4 and is ready to move forward into Aries on January 26, 2026. Now that Neptune will be direct in Pisces, it is time to close the karmic loops and surrender any victim narratives in our lives.  Neptune has been in Pisces since 2011 and 2012, with the exception of its brief foray into Aries from late March until October 22. If you have any planets in the late degrees of the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius, you will feel this acutely.  It is a time to dissolve illusions and release what is no longer serving our best interests.  Wrap up the unfinished business that started in 2011 and 2012 when Neptune entered Pisces.  Whenever a planet is at 29 degrees, it is at a critical point when we are required to integrate, dissolve and release the old before a new cycle can commence.  When Neptune enters Aries, we will be infused with energy to act on making our dreams real.  It will be a huge collective shift.  The last time Neptune was in Aries was from 1861-1874 and that era marked great changes in the world.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. The Sun in Scorpio Squares Pluto in Aquarius, Mars Trines Jupiter and Mercury Enters Sagittarius

 

The Sun just entered Scorpio on October 22, but the Scorpio energy is quite strong already.  We had a New Moon in Libra on October 21 that featured a Grand Water Trine involving Mars and Mercury in Scorpio, Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces, so it was definitely emotional.  For me personally, it felt like a Full Moon as it conjuncted my Neptune and Mercury while squaring my Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer.  I have heard other people express that sentiment too.

On October 24, the Sun in Scorpio will square Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius.  On the plus side, this aspect will give us more energy, strength and motivation to work hard so that we can endure whatever difficulties we encounter and achieve our goals.  But the shadow side of this aspect is that our need for power can make us more controlling and obsessive.  We might be coming in touch with our fears of death or losing control of our lives.  Manipulation and jealousy could occur in relationships as well as ruthless behavior occurring.  But this aspect does hold the potential for rebirth.  This is especially true this time around because the Sun in Scorpio is squaring its ruling planet Pluto in Aquarius.  I know this to be true because I have a natal Sun in Scorpio square Pluto in Leo aspect in my chart. The theme of needing to rebirth my life is a recurring one for me.  And I have learned the hard way that resistance to the need for change is futile...

We get a bit of a break on October 28 when Mars in Scorpio is trining Jupiter in 24 degrees of Cancer.  This will amplify our desire to win and can bring success to any endeavor we undertake.  Fortunate action is the theme of this aspect.  Decisive actions can be taken confidently.  This is also favorable for relationships.  Mars is right on my Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house and is trining my Uranus in Cancer in my 10th house, so I am definitely keeping my mind open to new possibilities and hoping for the best.

Mercury departs the sign of Scorpio and enters Sagittarius on October 29.  But we have an extended and rather complicated transit of Mercury in Sagittarius due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde.  Mercury will station retrograde in 6 degrees of Sagittarius on November 9 and go back into Scorpio on November 18. It will station direct in 20 degrees of Scorpio on November 29 (right on my Scorpio Sun) and re-enter Sagittarius on December 11, where it remains until January 1, 2026.  I find it very interesting that we began the year 2025 with Mercury in 20 degrees of Sagittarius and we end it in 27 degrees.  This was due to last year's Mercury retrograde.

What can we expect when Mercury is in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius? Our mental focus will shift to more optimism, faith and search for the truth.  We could be inspired to travel or go back to school.  Mercury in Sagittarius is all about looking at the big picture, while Mercury in Scorpio was more detail-oriented and laser focused on a particular issue. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our sense of humor is sharper, we are more honest, but can veer towards bluntness and tactlessness.  It is quite literally a time to think before we speak...

New Moon in Scorpio, Mercury Enters Sagittarius and Mars Enters Leo

 

The month of November is starting off with a bang in the form of a New Moon in 9 degrees of Scorpio.  This has strong themes of intensity, transformation and empowerment.  Astrologically speaking, it is quite well-aspected because the only major aspect that it makes is a very productive trine to Saturn in 12 degrees of Pisces.  We might find it easier to set some boundaries in relationships as a result of this New Moon.

But many of us could still be feeling the effects of the recent opposition between Mercury in Scorpio and Uranus in 26 degrees of Taurus that occurred on October 30.  Sudden disruptions could have happened in our lives that shook us to our core.  This opposition exactly squared my natal Pluto in Leo and aspected my Venus and Ceres in Scorpio.

Since I am a Scorpio, I just want to remind everyone that Scorpio is a sign of extremes.  Every zodiac sign has good and bad traits, but Scorpio can take both the good and bad to all new levels.  The shadow side of Scorpio is associated with revenge, jealousy, holding grudges and seeking control.  The higher level of Scorpio is represented by the mythical phoenix, which is regenerative and transformational.  Rebirth is its thing, but it must rise from its ashes of death to get there, and as I have often said, rebirth ain't pretty.  Finally, there is the eagle, which also symbolizes Scorpio's ability to rise above, be objective and release its need for control.  So we could experience quite a few of these emotions on this New Moon in Scorpio.  Personally, I will have this New Moon exactly conjunct my natal Pallas in 9 degrees of Scorpio in my 1st house, so I am hopeful that it will help me be more intuitive about whatever strategies that I need to implement.  The New Moon is also conjunct my natal Saturn in 12 degrees of Scorpio in my 1st house, so I could very well be establishing some boundaries in my relationships. So if you have any planets in 9 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio, you will definitely feel the effects of this New Moon.  

On November 2, Mercury enters the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius for an extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde on November 25.  Mercury will station retrograde in 22 degrees of Sagittarius and will turn direct on December 15 in 6 degrees of Sagittarius.  Mercury will remain in Sagittarius until January 8, 2025.

When Mercury is in Sagittarius, we tend to see the big picture but can be less focused on the details.  Our thoughts tend to be more optimistic, expansive and sometimes exaggerated.  We can have philosophical curiosity and a touch of impulsiveness.  Decisions can be made quickly, based on faith and trust.  The best advice that I can give you for the Mercury in Sagittarius transit is to think before you act...

We have another active day on November 3.  Mars in Cancer opposes Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn.  This is not the friendliest of aspects.  It can be rife with conflict and intensity as  buried things come to the surface.  It also has the potential for violence.  The themes of power and passion will be with us until April 2025 because this aspect will be in effect even when Mars enters Leo and Pluto enters Aquarius on November 19.

Mars will enter Leo at 11:10 p.m. on November 3.  It will station retrograde in 6 degrees of Leo on December 6 and re-enter Cancer on January 6, 2025.  Mars will station direct in 17 degrees of Cancer on February 23, 2025 and go back into Leo on April 18, 2025.  Mars remains in Leo until June 17, 2025.  

Mars is infinitely happier in Leo than in Cancer because it is motivated by self-confidence, pride, ego and can be quite competitive. Mars in Cancer can be defensive and somewhat passive-aggressive. Mars in Leo is dramatically reactive and focused on leadership.  There is the potential for tempers to flare when Mars is in a fire sign, but it tends to blow over quickly.

The Sun in Scorpio will be trining Saturn in 12 degrees of Pisces on November 4, which will provide us with some stability, balance and structure in our lives.  It is ideal for setting goals and our self-respect will be strengthened, so I encourage you to make the most of this extremely positive energy.

Mercury Moves into Sagittarius, a Volatile Mars Uranus Opposition and an Intense New Moon in Scorpio

 

Hang on for a wild ride.  On November 10, Mercury departs the fixed water sign of Scorpio for the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius.  It stays in Sagittarius until December 1, 2023 and then returns to Sagittarius on December 23, 2023 through January 13, 2024 due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde that starts on December 13, 2023.

What can we expect when Mercury is in Sagittarius? Well, for starters, Mercury is actually in detriment in Sagittarius because Mercury rules its opposite sign, Gemini. So it is not a comfortable Mercury.  Mercury in Sagittarius is very opinionated and is up for converting people to its beliefs.  When Mercury is in Sagittarius, there can be a lot of preaching going down. It is definitely not too focused on details, as it is more globally oriented.  This is a big change from the meticulous and focused Mercury in Scorpio.  

Mercury in Sagittarius will form a square with Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces on November 10.  This is an uncomfortable aspect that has a theme of confrontation with someone who said something to you that was hurtful.  Saturn in Pisces tends to have a mistrust of words, so this can be a rough day.  Just warning you...

On November 11, Mars in Scorpio will be in exact opposition to Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus.  This is an extremely volatile aspect that can bring earthquakes, natural disasters and political upheavals.  Mars opposes Uranus approximately every two years; the last time it occurred was on November 14, 2021 in 12 degrees of Scorpio and Taurus.  We can expect lots of impulsiveness and eruptions of anger that trigger immediate action which will have long-term repercussions.  There can also be major issues with seeking freedom. This can also be an accident-prone aspect, so be very careful driving. The positive side of this aspect is that it does give us courage to break free from stagnant routines.  This aspect will be in effect through November 14, so it sets the stage for the New Moon in Scorpio on November 13 and is a major player.  And it goes without saying that if you have any planets in 20-23 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you will be feeling the effects of this aspect big time.

On November 13, we have a New Moon in 20 degrees of Scorpio.  A New Moon in Scorpio can bring a fresh start, healing and rebirth, but it isn't always comfortable.  This New Moon is also conjunct Mars in 22 degrees of Scorpio and Ceres in 24 degrees of Scorpio.  It's a heavy Scorpio influence and I know that I am going to feel its intensity because it occurs the day after my birthday and is also conjunct my Venus in 24 degrees of Scorpio.  Ceres is exactly conjunct my natal Venus.  Ceres is associated with nurturing, self-worth, attachment and loss.  All of this action is playing out in my 2nd house.  

The New Moon in Scorpio is also trining Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces, which can heighten our creativity and intuition.  If by any chance you meet someone on this New Moon, the relationship that develops could have a real soulmate feeling.  The New Moon in Scorpio is also forming a supportive sextile to its ruling planet Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn, which can expose deeply buried emotions and lead to a rebirth.  This is also the official end of Eclipse Season, which is a welcome concept for all of us.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! The Sun and Saturn Have it Out and Mercury and Venus Are on the Move into Sagittarius

 

We are not out of the woods yet after the recent Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on November 8.  On November 11, the Sun in Scorpio and Saturn in 18 degrees of Aquarius are exactly square each other.  Saturn in Aquarius has not exactly been dormant in this eclipse; the Taurus Moon was squaring it on that day.

What can we expect when the Sun squares Saturn?  Be prepared for a day of testing (one of Saturn's favorite things), challenges, lots of responsibilities and a tendency to be depressed or pessimistic.  It really is a test of character, so we are going to need to buckle down and do the hard work that is required.  If we don't, we will live to regret it because Saturn has a way of catching up with us and making us pay the piper.  Just saying...  There is no shortcut.

But Venus and Mercury are in Scorpio for a few more days and they are actually going to have some easier aspects before they depart Scorpio for Sagittarius.  On November 12, Mercury in Scorpio will be trining Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect will stimulate our creativity, imagination, sensitivity and spirituality.  We should find it easier to communicate in a more compassionate manner.  We'll take it! Then on the 13th, Venus in Scorpio will be forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn.  This is big because Pluto rules Scorpio and sextiles represent opportunities.  When Venus sextiles Pluto, we have the opportunity to deepen love to an intense and even more spiritual level.  We are willing and able to discover our true feelings.  Mercury follows suit with its own sextile to Pluto in Capricorn on November 14.  Mercury in Scorpio sextiling Pluto in Capricorn is not afraid to get to the bottom of things and dig deep.  It is definitely up for some research and we will not hesitate to engage in conversations on a more intimate level.

Venus enters Sagittarius on November 15 and stays in the mutable fire sign until December 9.  Romance will flip from intense to buoyant as we seek more adventure in love and are up for trying something new and different.  We don't want to be fenced in and more willing to take risks.  Don't try to force commitments while Venus is in Sagittarius and watch your credit cards because we might be prone to excessive spending.  Otherwise, this is a welcome relief from the intensity of Venus in Scorpio.

Mercury enters Sagittarius on November 17 and remains there until December 6. Mercury in Sagittarius shifts our mental focus to learning more about a wider range of topics.  The laser-like intensity of Scorpio is gone.  We will be feeling more philosophical and less precise, so details could get ignored.  We are more into the big picture.  Mercury in Sagittarius is more optimistic, humorous and friendly.  But its shadow side can include a tendency to be tactless, so watch out what you say to others.  Mercury in Scorpio can be very calculated with its zingers but Mercury in Sagittarius just doesn't have any filters.  Just be mindful of that and you should enjoy the transit of Mercury in Sagittarius. 

Just remember to breathe and we will all survive.  Relief is on the way with the Sun entering Sagittarius on November 22 and a New Moon in Sagittarius on the 23^rd along with Jupiter stationing direct on the New Moon.  More on that next week…
