The Sun Squares Neptune and Moves into Capricorn While Mercury and Venus Make Some Moves

 




We have some interesting aspects coming up this week with the Sun, Mercury and Venus.  On December 16, the Sun in Sagittarius will be exactly squaring Neptune in 24 degrees of Pisces.  Spoiler alert: this aspect is bound lower our vitality and sense of motivation. Fortunately it does occur on a weekend.  The Sun squaring Neptune can also trigger insecurity, confusion and disillusionment.  Overidealizing significant others is another feature of this aspect.  It is also associated with hypochondria and it is not advisable to schedule any medical appointments because it will be difficult to diagnose any symptoms and get an accurate diagnosis.  And it goes without saying that we all need to be careful with drugs and alcohol while we are under the influence of this Neptunian fog.

Mercury recently went retrograde on December 13, when I posted:

On December 18, Mercury in Capricorn will be exactly trining Jupiter in 5 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect generates optimism and can bring good news.  It is okay for travel despite Mercury being retrograde.  True to the nature of Mercury retrograde, we also experienced this aspect on December 7 when both Mercury and Jupiter were in 6 degrees of their respective signs.  The only potential downside of this aspect is a tendency to overthink, because we all know that Jupiter loves to amplify whatever it touches.

We have two major astrology events occurring on December 21.  The first one is Venus in Scorpio exactly opposing Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus loves to shake things up and it could very well deliver some unexpected events that cause tension, upset and disrupt our love life.  It can also bring about financial windfalls or cause us to gamble or overspend.  So be careful on this day.  Venus is exactly conjunct my Sun in Scorpio, so I know that this will affect me quite personally.

We also have two other interesting aspects happening on December 21.  Mercury in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 2 degrees of Pisces. This aspect is extremely favorable for clear thinking, good judgment and organizational skills. Communication should be honest and profound.

The other aspect that occurs before the Sun moves into Capricorn is a little less positive.  Mars in Sagittarius is inconjunct Uranus in Taurus.  This can make us feel restless and impulsive with a desire to rebel against authority figures.  It can definitely feel frustrating as we attempt to assert our ego.  The thing to remember with Uranus is that we could very well be confronted with unexpected events throwing a curveball at us.   And the lesson with inconjuncts is that we need to make some kind of adjustment in order for a peaceful coexistence. 

The Sun enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn at 10:27 p.m. on December 21, marking the official start of winter.  Our focus shifts to being more responsible and ambitious as we seek to accomplish our goals.  We are more result-oriented in our approach to life.  It's a big change from the mutable fire energy of Sagittarius.  We will be more practical, down-to-earth and realistic.  If we are utilizing the Capricorn vibe constructively, we have a good work ethic and respect for authority.  But if the shadow side of Capricorn is prevailing, and Capricorn's ruling planet Saturn is calling the shots, we can be inclined towards pessimism and a tendency to be somewhat bossy.  Food for thought...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...


I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. A Powerful Full Moon in Aries Sets off a Cardinal T-square as Relationships Undergo Major Transformation


The Scorpio energy continues despite the fact that the sun is still in Libra.  Mercury entered Scorpio on October 3, 2019 for an extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury Retrograde and Venus followed suit on October 9, 2019.  On that day I tweeted: 
Venus in Scorpio is also going to be affecting the full moon in 20 degrees of Aries on October 13, 2019.  On October 12, 2019 Venus in Scorpio will be opposing retrograde Uranus in 5 degrees of Taurus.  There will be strong themes of desiring emotional freedom and independence with this aspect.  It could also lead to exciting new encounters.  It’s definitely wild card energy.  Uranus is currently transiting my 7th house, so I have no doubt that it will affect my relationships.

But this full moon in Aries is triggering a cardinal T-square that involves the sun in Libra, the moon in Aries and Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn. With the sun and moon squaring Saturn in Capricorn, people could be displaying a take charge attitude and resentment could build against anyone who opposes our actions. We have quite the plethora of planets in cardinal signs during this full moon: the sun in Libra, Mars in Libra, the moon in Aries, Chiron in Aries, and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn.  Cardinal signs are the movers and shakers of the astrological universe, so we will probably feel quite inspired to initiate some action with this full moon.

The sun in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn has a very manipulative vibe which could feature power struggles getting quite ugly.  I have a natal Sun in Scorpio square to Pluto in Leo natally, and I am all too familiar with this energy. This aspect can make one terrified of loss and be accompanied by an intense need for privacy. The sun squaring Pluto can also indicate a need to be in control of situations, but the upside of it is that letting go can lead to a rebirth, which is Pluto’s theme song. And the moon in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn has a very transformational vibe that holds the potential for ending one phase of our development in order to be reborn, but we need to be mindful of controlling behavior and manipulation.

All of this Pluto energy (and don’t forget that Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio) can manifest in the need to control which can invariably lead to ego conflicts with authority figures.  The emphasis on Pluto also gives us more focus and willpower so that we can change destructive behaviors. There is a message here with this full moon aspecting Pluto to let go and come out of the shadows. Issues of trust, betrayal, and jealousy may have some light shed on them during this full moon in Aries because a full moon has a tendency to shed light on previously hidden matters.  Angry feelings could surface during this full moon; let’s face it, Aries is ruled by Mars, the sign of the warrior.  But if we channel this energy productively by becoming more of a spiritual warrior we have a chance at some new beginnings.  Mars in Libra is not in its strongest place, but for some people, it may be a time to learn how to say no and set some boundaries.

We also have a beautiful, flowing trine between Mercury in 19 degrees of Scorpio and Neptune in 16 degrees of Pisces on the full moon.  This aspect is pretty sweet in that it provides heightened imagination, creativity, compassion and sensitivity.  And the frosting on the cake with this aspect is that it actually forms a Grand Water Trine with the north node in 12 degrees of Cancer.  So we definitely have a shot at generating some positive emotions during this full moon in Aries.

Jupiter in Sagittarius is also on the receiving end of some positive aspects during the full moon in Aries.  The Libra sun forms a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 20 degrees of Sagittarius and this aspect will bring feelings of optimism and happiness while attracting good luck.  Spiritual as well as material growth are possible with this aspect in play.  And the full moon in Aries is trining Jupiter in Sagittarius, which further emphasizes the feeling of enthusiasm and imbues us with a desire to share our emotions with others because it inspires generosity.  So it’s a very beneficial influence to have both the sun and moon in positive aspects to Jupiter during a full moon.  We literally get the best of both worlds.

A Super Full Moon in Taurus Illuminates and Kicks off an Eventful November


The month of November started off with an exciting, energetic vibe with the moon in Aries opposing Mars in Aries, inspiring me to tweet:
This was the kickoff to the Super Full Moon in 12 degrees of Taurus on November 4, 2017 on the east coast of the United States.  It’s called a supermoon because it is so close to the earth and should be breathtakingly beautiful and huge.  Full moons are known for being times of completion and culmination when the fruits of our labors take form and secrets are revealed.  Lately, there has been no shortage of secrets being revealed, especially in the area of sexual abuse and harassment.  Jupiter in Scorpio is helping to expand our awareness on that issue.

This full moon in Taurus will literally light up our awareness by requiring us to release unhealthy attachments and chains that bind us.  The moon in Taurus is attached to material goods and security while the sun in Scorpio is more attached to emotional security.  Both are fixed signs and they can be stubborn and tenacious. They like to hang on to what they have and tend to fear losing what makes them feel secure. So we have our work cut for us on this score.

Venus is the ruler of this full moon while Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Sagittarius also feature prominently.  Saturn in Sagittarius really started the ball rolling when it formed an exact square to Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces on November 2, 2017.  This aspect served to put us in touch with our wounds and set us on the path to healing.  Hopefully it triggered some compassion to facilitate that healing process.  It inspired me to tweet:

 I think that this tweet hit a collective nerve especially after the terrorist attack in Manhattan on Halloween.

But Venus in 25 degrees of Libra is really the star and choreographer of this full moon.  Venus rules Taurus, the sign of this full moon.  But on the same day of the full moon, Venus in Libra forms a challenging opposition to Uranus in 25 degrees of Aries.   Relationship issues will be front and center with this aspect, mark my words.  Finances and values, other Venus ruled issues, could also face some intense scrutiny with this aspect.  Values will be challenged as well during this full moon.  Venus opposing Uranus might cause some to shed stagnant relationship patterns.  But if you have a solid relationship, this might be an opportune time to revitalize your relationship and get back on track.  However, be mindful that if you meet someone new at this time, it just might be a short-lived relationship.  Venus opposing Uranus doesn’t exactly create a recipe for stability in relationships.

I just want to add that if Venus is transiting either your first or seventh house at the time of this full moon, you will definitely feel the effects of this aspect and the full moon on your relationship.  Transiting Venus in Libra is conjunct my Neptune in Libra in the first house and Uranus in Aries is transiting my seventh house, so I am trying to keep an open mind as to what unfolds.  This full moon is also opposing my Saturn in Scorpio in the first house while the sun is conjunct my Saturn.  This should be interesting…

Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces is forming a delightful, supportive trine to the sun in 11 degrees of Scorpio on November 3rd, which could stir up our emotional and creative juices. Neptune in Pisces forms a sextile to the moon in 12 degrees of Taurus on the full moon, which will bring heightened sensitivity and emotions.  These aspects should elicit an enhanced sense of compassion and spirituality, but since Neptune is also known for its dissolving qualities, it could empower us to let go of possessions or attachments that no longer serve our best interests.

And then there is Jupiter in Scorpio.  It is conjunct the sun in Scorpio and opposing the full moon in Taurus, so we will be really focused on getting our basic security needs met.  Jupiter in Scorpio will be only too happy to oblige on that front.  Jupiter in Scorpio is also trine Neptune in Pisces.  This is another highly supportive aspect which has a mystical quality and brings unconditional love and healing to the table.  It can also accelerate transformation (Scorpio is the transformation poster child).  Don’t be afraid to try new healing modalities with this influence.  I know that this sounds like a shameless plug for Reiki, but give it a chance if you have never experienced Reiki.

Venus will be departing the sign of Libra to enter Scorpio on November 7, 2017 to join the rest of the Scorpio posse.  It will remain there until December 1, 2017.  But Mercury will leave Scorpio on November 5, 2017 to enter Sagittarius on November 5, 2017 as it prepares for the next Mercury retrograde, which charts on December 3, 2017.  Mercury will be in Sagittarius until January 2, 2018, but at least it will station direct in 13 degrees of Sagittarius on December 22, 2017 in time for Christmas. This doesn’t bode well for purchasing electronics as gifts.  More on this later and the effects of the Mercury retrograde shadow.
