Mercury Enters Scorpio, Saturn Stations Direct and a Full Moon in Aries

What a difference a week makes.  The sun entered the sign of Libra on September 22nd, inspiring me to tweet:

The pace is about to get a lot more hectic.  On September 27, 2020, Mercury will enter the sign of Scorpio for a rather extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury Retrograde that officially commences on October 13, 2020.  But if some of you are feeling its effects already that is because Mercury entered its retrograde shadow on September 23rd.  I know that I am because I downloaded iOS 14 this past weekend on my phone and iPad and have had nothing but problems with it.  Mercury will station retrograde in 11 degrees of Scorpio, slip back into Libra on October 27, 2020, station direct on November 3rd in 25 degrees of Libra and re-enter Scorpio on November 10th until December 1, 2020.

What can we expect when Mercury is in Scorpio?  Our thoughts and communications are about to get more probing and intense as we seek truths that may have been deeply hidden.  Conversations could take on a sharper and more analytical vibe.  Scorpio is not a sign for lightweights and doesn’t pander to lightweight chatter.  Don’t be surprised if there is an elevated level of sarcasm in the air. When Mercury is in Scorpio, we are also more likely to make firm, compulsive or obsessive decisions.  But we will also be more resourceful and adept at research.  But it can be obstinate energy because Scorpio is a fixed sign.  I’m just giving your fair warning…

On September 29, 2020, Saturn stations direct in 25 degrees after being retrograde since May 10th.  This can actually be a good thing because Saturn direct can bring us a renewed sense of strength and resilience to face our challenges and responsibilities.  And let’s face it, 2020 has been all about challenges and responsibilities.  Since Saturn is associated with reaping what you sow and karma, there is a pervasive theme of what goes around comes around.  We were dealing with COVID-19 back in May when President Trump wanted to reopen the United States and we were dealing with a national death toll of 80,000.  I was personally dealing with COVID-19 back in May myself.  Now we are facing a major election and the death toll from COVID-19 has surpassed 200,000 in the United States. It also means that Saturn will finish up its transit of Capricorn, which has been a particularly grueling one for most people.  Saturn will enter Aquarius on December 16, 2020 for the next 2 ½ years.

The months of October and November in 2020 will usher in a very bumpy ride that will feature lots of drama and feel like a purging process due to Pluto in Capricorn.  The action starts on October 1st with an action packed full moon in 9 degrees of Aries.  This particular full moon can represent a kind of litmus test to reexamine what has transpired since the new moon in Aries on March 24, 2020.  We were in the initial stages of COVID-19 back then and as much as I would like to believe that this full moon represents some closure the data doesn’t back it up.  We are still in the throes of COVID-19.  This full moon is actually conjunct Chiron in 7 degrees of Aries, which reinforces the theme of healing and emphasizes our wound about feeling powerless with this virus and the limitations it has placed on our lives.   But with a full moon in Aries conjunct Chiron in Aries, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more protests because people are experiencing a great deal of social unrest.

The full moon in Aries also forms a semi-sextile aspect to Uranus in 9 degrees of Taurus, which reinforces the rebellion theme.  And Uranus is inconjunct the sun in Libra, which adds to the disruptive and volatile vibe.  And we have been dealing with retrograde Mars in Aries squaring Saturn in Capricorn, which literally makes us feel like we are running into a wall in terms of making any progress.

The cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel the effects of this full moon most acutely.  And this includes anyone with planets in these signs.  Aries will feel more fearless, impetuous, impulsive, and empowered but the shadow side of this full moon could result in them acting too bossy and aggressive as there is a tendency to focus on me versus we.  Librans will feel the effects of this full moon in their relationships; both the best and worst can emerge.  They may wind up ending a phase of their relationship or learn to listen more to their partner.  Cancers could see an end to a job or a change in their public standing.  And Capricorn could see major changes in their family or home life.  Some might move or others might see children either leaving for school or returning to the home due to the economic constraints of COVID-19.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. When I return to my Brookline office I will be practicing Reiki with a mask, gloves, and medical exam sheets for your protection.  I will also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

Mercury in Libra Squares off with Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn and the Sun Enters Libra

Believe it or not, the upcoming week is a fairly quiet astrological week. The major events are Mercury in Libra squares and the sun entering Libra for the Fall Equinox marking the official start of fall.

Mercury in Libra squared Jupiter in 17 degrees of Capricorn on September 17, 2020 (the day of the new moon in Virgo) and this was probably the easiest of the Mercury in Libra squares to the Capricorn planets. On that day I tweeted:

But we are not getting off quite so easy with the next square from Mercury in Libra to a Capricorn planet.  On September 21st, Mercury in Libra will be in an exact square to Pluto in 22 degrees of Capricorn.  This aspect can lead to compulsive thinking and a tendency to be obsessed with one idea to the point that we analyze every little detail.  It can be a mentally stressful time and we may experience difficulty implementing our ideas.  Mercury squaring Pluto can be accompanied by deep thinking and intense interactions with others which can lead to a crisis or darker experience.  We will be feeling combative and defensive, but we need to guard against arguing for the sake of arguing.  Obsession with negative thoughts may lead to paranoia and an inability to trust others.  It will be hard to separate truth from our fears due to our compulsive thinking.  And we may find ourselves engaging in power struggles with others because Pluto loves control.

The sun enters Libra on September 22, 2020 and fall is officially here.  The sun in Libra is a time to seek balance and fairness in relationships.  We are more inclined to meet others halfway to keep the peace. When the sun is in Libra, we are feeling very social and diplomatic.  We are also drawn to the arts and beauty, lest we forget that Libra is ruled by Venus.  So we may wind up spending more money when the sun is in Libra.  The shadow side of the sun in Libra is a tendency to be indecisive (as in “what do you think I should do?”), to be too nice in order to avoid conflict and not speaking up for ourselves.  If you are the least bit codependent, be mindful of the sun in Libra transit.

On the following day, September 23rd, Mercury in Libra squares off with Saturn in 25 degrees of Capricorn.  This aspect emphasizes hard mental work that will probably need to be done alone.  It is also accompanied by negative thinking and misunderstandings.  It is compounded by the fact that Mercury is entering its retrograde shadow on the 23rd, although Mercury retrograde doesn’t officially start until October 13th.  We really need to pay attention to details on this day.

Mercury squaring Saturn can also add an edgy vibe, creating a sense of distance in close relationships as people may be feeling sadder or depressed.  We may be too critical of others as well because this is Saturn we are dealing with and Saturn can be judgmental.  The bottom line is that making any kind of progress under the auspices of this aspect is going to be very challenging.  Just remember that this is temporary.

Anyone who has planets in 17-29 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel the effects of these Mercury squares.  It’s not just Libra and Capricorn who are taking the hit.  I have a cardinal T-square in my chart involving my Neptune and Juno in Libra, Chiron in Capricorn and midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer so I am right in the line of fire.

Jupiter Stations Direct and A Super New Moon in Virgo

The planets are playing musical chairs again.  Two days ago Mars in Aries stationed retrograde, inspiring me to tweet:

On September 12, 2020, Jupiter will resume direct motion in 17 degrees of Capricorn after a four month retrograde that began on May 14th in 27 degrees of Capricorn. Jupiter retrograde is not as dramatic as Mercury or Mars retrograde because it is more philosophical, but it does pose its own unique set of challenges.  When Jupiter is retrograde, it has a way of forcing us to reassess our views of the world and what we consider to be lucky. Opportunities and good fortune may seem to be in short supply when Jupiter is retrograde.  Don’t be surprised if what you considered to be a great opportunity or lucky break in the recent past has changed in the last four months.  We have all been swept up in COVID-19 this year; I was still sick myself from it when Jupiter stationed retrograde back in May. I consider myself lucky to be alive right now.  But Jupiter was forming a conjunction to my Chiron in the 4th house when it stationed retrograde in May and in direct opposition to my natal Uranus in Cancer in my 10th house. When Jupiter is direct, we have the opportunity to realize what wisdom we have accumulated during the retrograde period and we will also be infused with a sense of future vision and creativity. We have a window of opportunity to believe that our dreams can come true. The themes of luck and expansiveness that Jupiter is associated with can manifest in success for anyone with planets around 17 degrees of the earth signs of Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo.

On September 17, 2020 the earth energy is more potent when we have a Super New Moon in 25 degrees of Virgo.  It’s called a super new moon because the moon is at its closest point to the earth and its emotional power is heightened.  New moons are always a time of setting new intentions and this new moon in the sign of Virgo contains strong themes of service to others and healing.  It can be a time of new beginnings that will take approximately six months to reveal itself. There will be a full moon in Virgo on February 27, 2021 that will demonstrate what we have reaped from the seeds that we sow on this new moon. Hopefully we will have a vaccine for the Coronavirus by then or at least have it more under control.

What other aspects are in play on this new moon in Virgo?  Mercury in Libra is squaring the newly direct Jupiter in Capricorn, which can lead to big and expansive thinking. There may be a lot of talk about a vaccine or new treatment for the Coronavirus. Mercury in Libra is also inconjunct Neptune in Pisces, which could play out in secrets being revealed or divine inspiration coming through.  You never quite know what will happen with Neptune, but the fact that it is in an inconjunct aspect with Mercury indicates that some type of adjustment will be required.  Venus in Leo is also squaring Uranus in Taurus, which could manifest in unexpected developments in love and finances.  Conflicts might emerge in relationships regarding emotional security and the need for space.

The new moon in Virgo is also trining Saturn in Capricorn.  Trines are usually considered to be favorable aspects, but when Saturn is involved, nothing is easy. The moon and Saturn are not exactly happy campers together.  It indicates that we need to work hard and there may be difficult emotional stuff to process. As the old saying goes, no pain, no gain. The sun and moon in Virgo are trining both Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn which can help us manifest our long-term plans but we need to do the work to get the results.

The mutable signs or anyone with planets in the mutable signs of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and Sagittarius will feel the effects of this new moon the most.  Obviously, Virgo will strive for healing, service to others and being the best it can be. Pisces may find themselves entering a new stage in relationships by rebooting and letting go of the past.  Gemini may experience a new start on the home front, either through a physical move or a fresh start in relationships with family members.  And Sagittarius will have a strong 10th house influence to usher in a new period in their career or public standing.  If career is not a pressing issue right now, it could mean a fresh start in revamping life goals that will see a payoff in February 2021.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Mercury Enters Libra, Venus Enters Leo and Mars Retrograde

We are coming out of an emotionally intense week that featured a full moon in Pisces on September 1st.  On that day I tweeted:

But in this coming week we are facing some pretty big astrological changes.  On September 5th, Mercury departs its home sign of Virgo and enters Libra until September 27th.  But don’t worry, we get another crack at Mercury in Libra because we have an upcoming Mercury retrograde that starts on October 13th in 11 degrees of Scorpio and returns to Libra on October 27th where it stays until November 10th.

How are communications going to play out when Mercury is transiting Libra?  We will definitely be feeling more outgoing, friendly and diplomatic when Mercury is in Libra.  It may be easier to adopt a more rational approach to relationships as Libra is the sign that seeks balance and fairness.  Libra is heavily invested in relationships too.  But the shadow side of Mercury in Libra is a tendency to vacillate and experience difficulties in making decisions. Libra is the sign that will ask others “What do you think I should do?” We are also prone to accommodating others to the point of excessive people pleasing.

On the following day, September 6th, Venus leaves Cancer and enters the fire sign of Leo.  Love and finances are about to get more playful, creative and fun loving.  There is more of an emphasis on romance and passion as we crave attention and admiration.  Pride is strong when Venus is in Leo and we tend to have a strong ego that is heavily invested in matters of the heart. There could be more drama in relationships than what we saw when Venus was in Cancer.  When Venus is transiting the sign of Leo, we are also feeling more generous towards those we love and we may wind up being overly extravagant by bestowing expensive gifts upon our loved ones.  In other words, our finances could take a hit if we’re not careful.

On September 9, 2020, we have a major astrological event that will profoundly affect our world for the next couple of months.  Mars stations retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries until November 13th, when it stations direct in 15 degrees of Aries.  This is a really big deal because Mars retrogrades approximately every two years and the last one occurred in the summer of 2018 in the signs of Aquarius and Capricorn.  Additionally, we haven’t had a Mars retrograde in Aries, its home sign, since 1988.

Mars retrograde in Aries will reduce our energy levels while our motivation and libido could take some severe hits.  We may find it more difficult to exercise and find ourselves becoming more impatient as we feel even more stuck and frustrated.  The issues of the pandemic will need to be addressed, as will how we deal with anger and confrontation.  Mars retrograde will force us to deal with the tensions in our lives that we can no longer ignore.

The cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel this energy most intensely.  But Scorpios will also be impacted by this transit because Mars is a co-ruler of Scorpio; we can’t forget that before Pluto was discovered in 1930 Mars was considered to rule Scorpio as well as Aries.

Retrograde Mars in Aries will be also be squaring Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn.  So Capricorn and Aries may very well bear the brunt of Mars retrograde because these two signs pertain to leadership and authority.  Mars in Aries squares Saturn in Capricorn on September 29th, which can lead to delays, impatience and massive amounts of frustration.  We experienced this aspect on August 24th, but it will be more intense when Mars is retrograde and we are quite literally being held back and unable to move forward.

Mars in Aries will be squaring Pluto in Capricorn on October 9th in 22 degrees of their respective signs and this aspect also occurred on August 13, 2020.  This aspect contains strong themes of power struggles and confrontations fueled by a strong desire to gain control of others or situations that are largely out of our control.  This is not a good time to start a fight.  We will also have this aspect on December 23, 2020 when both planets are direct.  Hopefully the third hit of this aspect will be easier to deal with.

Mars in Aries squares Jupiter in Capricorn on October 19, 2020.  We also experienced this aspect on August 4th, but it will have a very different flavor with Mars retrograde.  Normally Mars square Jupiter is experienced as a very exhilarating transit because it brings enthusiasm, courage and initiative to implement new projects with a shadow side of the potential for burnout if we go overboard. But with Mars retrograde, it can definitely put a damper on that spark to move forward.

The bottom line with Mars retrograde is that we will be revisiting many of the actions taken during August as they come up for review.  It can be a time of drawing up new plans of action to be implemented at the end of 2020.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
