An Intense Week as Mars Squares Saturn, a Super-Charged Full Moon in Aquarius and the Sun Enters Virgo

 

This is it- the week in August that will really rock our world and have a huge impact on our future.  We have already experienced the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in 16 degrees of Gemini on August 14 and on August 16, Mars in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces.  The square between Mars and Saturn will not be as promising as the conjunction between Mars and Jupiter.  When Mars and Saturn are squaring each other, it tends to bring frustration and inhibition.  There are restrictions galore. Trust me, I know this all too well because I have a natal Mars-Saturn square involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio. One could say it is the bane of my existence. We want to make progress, but feel stymied.  The best way to handle this energy is to be patient, strengthen your defenses and don't take unnecessary risks.

And then comes the piece de resistance: a super full Sturgeon Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius on August 19.  It is super full because the Moon is so close to the earth.  It is also the last Full Moon before we enter eclipse season in September. I would also like to issue a spoiler alert that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel the heat of this Full Moon the most intensely.  I happen to have Ceres in 27 degrees of Scorpio and Pluto in 26 degrees of Leo, so once again, I am right in the line of fire.

Jupiter in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon, which will create more inner tension as we face limiting circumstances.  Structures are breaking down and there is lots of uncertainty about the future. Jupiter wants to expand but Saturn is putting the brakes on things, challenging us to deal with a crisis point. Jupiter square Saturn will happen again on December 24, 2024 in 16 degrees and also on June 1, 2025 when Jupiter in 28 degrees of Gemini squares Saturn in 0 degrees of Aries.  So this will be an ongoing transit.

Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus is also a major player in this Full Moon because it exactly squares the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  This is a real wild card vibe, no two ways about it.  We will have a strong desire to break free, but we can also be moody and irrational.  Unexpected and traumatic events are likely to happen.

The Full Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 26 degrees of Leo, further adding to the frustration and discomfort level. Logic and emotion will be battling each other.

Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius isn't idly standing by on this Full Moon, either.  It will be squaring the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo and the Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius, activating a fixed T-square.  Pluto in Aquarius is also featured in a Yod (aka Finger of God or Fate) with Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces and the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo.

Venus in Virgo is opposing Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon too while it squares Mars and Jupiter in Gemini, creating a mutable T-square.  We can expect clashes of opinions and possible freezes in relationships or finances.  Venus in Virgo is also squaring Jupiter in Gemini on the Full Moon and while Venus-Jupiter squares are not that challenging, they can cause us to overindulge or go to extremes.  Just a word of caution...

Pallas, aka Pallas Athene, is the asteroid associated with the wisdom of the female spirit and represents a more cerebral approach to fighting. It is in 24 degrees of Scorpio on the Full Moon, forming a fixed cross with the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  It also featured in yet another Yod with Mars in Gemini and Chiron in 23 degrees of Aries.  This is a very pressure-cooker type vibe that will make us want to release stress.

If your head is spinning with all this talk of T-squares, crosses and Yods, you are not alone.  The bottom line with this Full Moon in Aquarius is that it will have major implications for our collective and personal futures.

On August 22, the Sun enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo.  Our focus will shift to getting organized, paying attention to details and taking better care of our health.  We will tend to be more practical and less inclined to crave drama, which can be a welcome relief.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Eclipse Season Starts off with a Bang with an Angry Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Eclipse season is officially underway on June 5, 2020 with a powerful lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius.  The next two eclipses occur on June 21, 2020 in 0 degrees of Cancer and on July 5, 2020 in 13 degrees of Capricorn.

This lunar eclipse in Sagittarius has a very impulsive and angry vibe because it squares Mars in Pisces and is involved in a T-square that includes the sun and Venus in Gemini, the moon in Sagittarius, and Mars, Neptune and Ceres in Pisces.  This mutable T-square has a lot of nervous energy, but we need to remember that a T-square does serve to motivate us to change. The past week has seen incredible turmoil and violence following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of a police officer.  This baby boomer is being reminded of the racially charged riots of the 1960’s that occurred in my childhood and it saddens me to see it happening again.  I am also reminded of the riots that ensued after police officers were acquitted of attacking Rodney King in 1992.  Ironically, the attack on Rodney King that happened in March 1991 also featured Saturn in the early degrees of Aquarius.  This is also a south node eclipse, which has a strong theme of being connected to the past and letting go.  It’s time to create a new future that doesn’t involve racism.

A lunar eclipse in Sagittarius has strong issues of freedom, truth, justice, the law, beliefs and disclosure.  The fact that the moon is squaring Mars in 15 degrees of Pisces has a vibe that is combustible and makes us prone to feeling more angry, edgy, irritable and prone to temper tantrums. Mars in Pisces also activates the victim theme and people feeling like they are not being seen or heard.  When people feel invisible, which is a very Neptunian theme (and Neptune is the ruler of Pisces), anger can ensue.  I suspect that there will be more angry outbursts in the coming week.  But all is not lost because Mars is also conjunct Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces which can lead to compassionate and spiritual action if we channel this energy constructively. Just be mindful of the shadow side of this aspect, which is loss of focus as Neptune has a tendency to dissolve energy.

We have one other saving grace aspect that occurs on this lunar eclipse.  Mercury in Cancer forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in Taurus and this offers us the opportunity for some nurturing change in communications. We could experience some real breakthroughs with this aspect, so make the most of it.

Venus retrograde in 12 degrees of Gemini is compounding the effects of this eclipse by adding financial stress and making it more difficult to give and receive love and affection. The moon opposes Venus, which doesn’t augur well for love or finances.  There is bound to be a lot of anger surfacing in relationships.  Impatience and lack of self-control could easily manifest in hostile actions. Venus in Gemini is also squaring Mars in Pisces which could result in increased sex drive but also has the potential to add a layer of competitive tension that might spill out in angry outbursts and major conflicts.  Adding to the mix is that Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces, so we could be reassessing love relationships and finances.  This aspect contains a theme of a clash between the head and the heart.  The best way to deal with this energy is trust your heart.

I am a bit concerned myself about the effects of this eclipse as the moon in Sagittarius is opposing my moon in Gemini in my 8^th house.  Talk about a double whammy!  I frequently tell my clients that a lunar eclipse is like a full moon on steroids and this one is no exception to that rule.    The pandemic has forced many of us to let go of the past and engage in some serious transformation.  I literally feel like I am once again the phoenix rising from the ashes as I let go of what is no longer serving my best interests and creating a new life for myself.  I am also very grateful for the fact that I tested negative for COVID-19 and feel that represents an opportunity for renewal and growth as my physical energy returns.

On June 6, 2020 the sun in Gemini is squaring Mars in 16 degrees of Pisces, which reinforces the anger theme.  The most productive way of channeling this energy is to be physically active.  If you have ever wanted to implement a new fitness routine, this is the time to do start exercising and avoid the shadow side of engaging in physical violence.

Powerful Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Can you feel it?  Today is the long-awaited last eclipse of 2016 and it is packing quite a punch.  It is a lunar eclipse in 24 degrees of Pisces and it is particularly potent because Chiron in Pisces and Mars in Sagittarius are major players.  Pisces is the uber emotional water sign and relationships will feel the impact of this eclipse as the full moon opposes retrograde Mercury in Virgo and inconjuncts Venus in Libra.

The full moon is conjunct Chiron in 22 degrees of Pisces, which is really stirring the emotional pot by fully exposing (that’s what lunar eclipses are all about, folks) old emotional wounds so they can heal.  Chiron’s influence is painful and an upsetting part of the transition we are all facing.  On September 15^th, the sun in Virgo was in direct opposition to Chiron, inspiring me to tweet:

“Virgo sun opposing Chiron in Pisces today could trigger some old emotional wounds for healing.  Prelude to Friday’s lunar eclipse.”

There is no denial that this eclipse’s connection with Chiron has a major theme of healing as all of us are forced to confront our oldest, deepest emotional wounds.  Pisces is also a sign that represents spirituality and faith, but as I have previously commented on numerous occasions, trusting in the process is extremely difficult but very necessary

Mars in Sagittarius is not making this eclipse any easier to deal with.  It forms an uncomfortable T-square with the sun and moon in Virgo and opposes Chiron in Pisces.  Mars squaring the moon can really push our buttons and force the issue on releasing some karmic baggage.  Anger can erupt quite suddenly in relationships if unexpected events occur due to the fact that Uranus in Aries is also opposing Venus in Libra.  And Uranus in Aries is trining Mars in Sagittarius, which can provide courage and drive to make the right moves and get unstuck.  Trust Uranus to get involved in the mix and make this lunar eclipse even more interesting by adding the element of the unexpected. But the trine to Mars is a positive aspect. There is massive potential for self-reflection during this eclipse and lots of angry reactions.  But what are we really angry about? We may find ourselves lashing out or projecting our anger for something totally unrelated.

I am definitely not immune from the effects of this lunar eclipse.  My chart is a veritable land mine and I have been feeling extremely emotional, irritable and exhausted for the past week.  We are just bouncing back from the last Saturn Neptune square on September 10^th and I went into eclipse mode on September 11^th, the 15^th anniversary of 9/11.  Why is this eclipse impacting me so strongly?  For starters, it is opposing my progressed moon in Virgo and sextiling my natal Chiron in Capricorn in the 4^th house.  It’s hitting pretty close to home and bringing a lot of old emotional wounds up for review. It is also trining my sun and Venus in Scorpio, as well as my midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer.  When a lunar eclipse forms a grand water trine with your natal chart, it’s bound to be a highly charged emotional time. Henry’s video featured a chart of the eclipse.  Being a Scorpio, I was struck by the fact that the ascendant for the eclipse chart was 26 degrees of Scorpio.  But then I realized that the chart was for Pacific Daylight Time and I immediately constructed a chart for Eastern Daylight Time.  That gave the eclipse an ascendant of 7 degrees of Capricorn and Pluto was in 14 degrees of Capricorn in the 1^st house.  So my feeling that this eclipse has the potential to be very transformative and Scorpionic was right on the mark.  That eclipse ascendant is also conjunct my north node, so I am definitely hoping that this eclipse will be instrumental for me in ushering in a regenerative period of transformation and growth.
