Virgo Season is Upon Us as the Sun Enters Virgo and the First of Two New Moons in Virgo

We are up for some big changes in the upcoming week.  The Sun moves into the mutable earth sign of Virgo on August 22 and we have the first of two New Moons in Virgo on August 23.  The second one will occur on September 21 in the form of a Solar Eclipse.  And Venus will enter Leo on August 25.

When the Sun enters Virgo, we tend to be more grounded, practical and responsible.  It's much easier to focus on details and find solutions to problems.  Virgo is also associated with health, so it's a perfect time to start a healthier diet or fitness regime.  We can get organized and improve communication on the job.  We are literally aiming for perfection when the Sun is in Virgo, but the shadow side of the Sun in Virgo is being too critical or judgmental.

Venus in Cancer is squaring Chiron in 26 degrees of Aries on August 22 as well.  This can trigger past relationship wounds.  We might be feeling insecure or unappreciated in relationships.  Try to accept your vulnerability (I know, that's a tough one and I am the first one to admit that I don't do vulnerable well) and practice some self-compassion in order to heal those wounds.  This can be a stressful day.

On August 23, we have the first of two New Moons in Virgo.  This one is in 0 degrees of Virgo.  I know that we always hear about 29 degrees being a critical degree (which the second New Moon, a Solar Eclipse, will be in on September 21), but 0 is also a critical degree because it represents the purest energy of whatever sign it falls in.  A New Moon in Virgo has strong themes pertaining to daily routines, health and service to others.

This New Moon is extremely complicated and has the potential to be quite volatile.  It squares Uranus in 1 degree of Gemini, which can bring sudden disruptions, power outages, the potential for cyberattacks, seismic activity and shocking truths revealed around health issues.  And this New Moon is involved in a Yod with Saturn and Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius.  The Sun and Moon are inconjunct Saturn and Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius while squaring Uranus in Gemini.  Inconjuncts are all about adjustments being required, and this one has a theme of karmic adjustments.  A Yod is also called the Finger of God and can feel very fated.  Both Saturn in 0 degrees of Aries and Neptune in 1 degree of Aries are sextiling Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius while being inconjunct the Sun and Moon in 0 degrees of Virgo.  Yods are powerful influences that can bring unexpected events that ultimately bring about restructuring.  This is especially true with Saturn being a part of that Yod.  We will need to remember to let go of old illusions (this is where Neptune comes in) to initiate a major refresh.  And we will get a chance to reexamine whatever seeds we plant or decisions we make on September 21 when we have that second New Moon in 29 degrees of Virgo, a Solar Eclipse to boot.

If you are old enough to remember 2006, we also had a New Moon in 0 degrees of Virgo on August 23.  The North Node was also in Pisces back then.  I remember that day all too well because my brother died on that day, only eight days after my mother died.  I am hoping for less loss this year but am trying to prepare myself for the likelihood of a disruptive time.

Venus leaves Cancer on August 25 and moves into Leo until September 19.  This can serve as a breather after the intensity of the New Moon in Virgo.  It is a real feel-good transit that has us feeling more creative, warm-hearted, dramatic, and glamorous.  It's time to let our inner child out to play.  We want to shine and enjoy the finer things in life.  It can be a delightful time, but just be mindful that the shadow side of Venus in Leo is a tendency to be self-centered, spend too much money or throw temper tantrums.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo and Zelle for payment. A Potent Full Moon in Libra and Venus Goes Direct

The month of April is definitely kicking into high gear after a brief respite last week that featured Saturn and Mars sextiling Uranus in Taurus and Mars in Cancer trining Saturn in Pisces.  And Mercury stationed direct in 26 degrees of Pisces on April 7, which was cause for celebration.  Just be mindful that it might take a little while for us to fully feel like Mercury is direct as it clears its retrograde shadow, which will happen on April 25, 2025 when it hits 9 degrees of Aries.  Mercury will enter Aries on April 16 and Mercury is much more comfortable and direct (pardon the pun) in the sign of Aries.

On April 12, we have a powerful Full Moon in 23 degrees of Libra.  This Full Moon features a T-square involving the Sun in 23 degrees of Aries, the Moon in 23 degrees of Libra and Mars in 27 degrees of Cancer.  T-squares cause tension, friction, and confrontations but they do have a way of motivating us to make changes.  Mars in 27 degrees of Cancer is also widely opposing Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius, which raises the ante for potential brute force to emerge.

Healing is a major theme of this Full Moon in Libra due to Chiron's presence.  Chiron is in 23 degrees of Aries exactly conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon in Libra.  This is bound to bring awareness of old fears, wounds and insecurities.  We are offered the opportunity to step out of our victimhood and move into authority as we heal that wound.  People who were born during 1974-1975 are undergoing their Chiron Return, so they will feel this Full Moon quite acutely.

There is also an extremely karmic note to this Full Moon because it also features a Yod.  A Yod occurs when two planets or points sextile each other while being inconjunct a third planet. Sometimes a Yod is referred to as the Finger of God. So, yes fated events can happen. Venus in 24 degrees of Pisces sextiles Uranus in 25 degrees of Taurus and they are both inconjunct the Moon in 23 degrees of Libra.  We could quite literally experience a spiritual awakening with this Full Moon in Libra.  Venus is also conjunct the North Node in 26 degrees of Pisces, further underscoring the karmic theme.  A Full Moon in Libra is also associated with unconditional love, but we need to be careful not to give too much to others.  Libra does have a tendency to be a people pleaser.  Social justice can also be a major theme of this Full Moon.

Venus sextiling Uranus can see us craving more fun and excitement in our social life, while creating opportunities for new friends and lovers to come into our lives.  It can also spur our creativity because Venus is exalted in Pisces. Venus is also conjunct Saturn in 25 degrees of Pisces and that aspect was exact on April 7, which probably served to provide major reality checks in love and finances.

The most positive feature of this Full Moon in Libra is the fact that Venus is stationing direct in 24 degrees of Pisces at 9:02 p.m.  Venus stationed retrograde on March 1 in 10 degrees of Aries, so it has been a long siege.  Venus also rules Libra (as well as Taurus), so relationships are going to feel the effects of this Full Moon in a big way.  Venus will move back into Aries on April 30 and will officially clear its retrograde shadow on May 15 when it hits 10 degrees of Aries.  So we should start to see some relief in love and finances within the next few weeks.  I am one of the rare 7% of the population born with Venus retrograde, but I am not always that comfortable during a Venus retrograde transit.  Some are easier than others for me, but this one was not so easy.  It was complicated because it occurred in two signs: Aries and Pisces.  Venus is considered to be in detriment in Aries (a fancy way of saying it is not comfortable) while it is exalted in Pisces.  Venus was previously in Pisces in a direct motion from January 2 through February 4, 2025, so I suppose we should be grateful that we will get another shot at experiencing the benefits of Venus direct in Pisces again.  Venus was retrograde in Pisces from March 27 through April 7, 2025.

An Intense Week as Mars Squares Saturn, a Super-Charged Full Moon in Aquarius and the Sun Enters Virgo

This is it- the week in August that will really rock our world and have a huge impact on our future.  We have already experienced the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in 16 degrees of Gemini on August 14 and on August 16, Mars in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces.  The square between Mars and Saturn will not be as promising as the conjunction between Mars and Jupiter.  When Mars and Saturn are squaring each other, it tends to bring frustration and inhibition.  There are restrictions galore. Trust me, I know this all too well because I have a natal Mars-Saturn square involving Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio. One could say it is the bane of my existence. We want to make progress, but feel stymied.  The best way to handle this energy is to be patient, strengthen your defenses and don't take unnecessary risks.

And then comes the piece de resistance: a super full Sturgeon Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius on August 19.  It is super full because the Moon is so close to the earth.  It is also the last Full Moon before we enter eclipse season in September. I would also like to issue a spoiler alert that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel the heat of this Full Moon the most intensely.  I happen to have Ceres in 27 degrees of Scorpio and Pluto in 26 degrees of Leo, so once again, I am right in the line of fire.

Jupiter in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon, which will create more inner tension as we face limiting circumstances.  Structures are breaking down and there is lots of uncertainty about the future. Jupiter wants to expand but Saturn is putting the brakes on things, challenging us to deal with a crisis point. Jupiter square Saturn will happen again on December 24, 2024 in 16 degrees and also on June 1, 2025 when Jupiter in 28 degrees of Gemini squares Saturn in 0 degrees of Aries.  So this will be an ongoing transit.

Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus is also a major player in this Full Moon because it exactly squares the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  This is a real wild card vibe, no two ways about it.  We will have a strong desire to break free, but we can also be moody and irrational.  Unexpected and traumatic events are likely to happen.

The Full Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 26 degrees of Leo, further adding to the frustration and discomfort level. Logic and emotion will be battling each other.

Pluto in 0 degrees of Aquarius isn't idly standing by on this Full Moon, either.  It will be squaring the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo and the Moon in 27 degrees of Aquarius, activating a fixed T-square.  Pluto in Aquarius is also featured in a Yod (aka Finger of God or Fate) with Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces and the Sun in 27 degrees of Leo.

Venus in Virgo is opposing Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on the Full Moon too while it squares Mars and Jupiter in Gemini, creating a mutable T-square.  We can expect clashes of opinions and possible freezes in relationships or finances.  Venus in Virgo is also squaring Jupiter in Gemini on the Full Moon and while Venus-Jupiter squares are not that challenging, they can cause us to overindulge or go to extremes.  Just a word of caution...

Pallas, aka Pallas Athene, is the asteroid associated with the wisdom of the female spirit and represents a more cerebral approach to fighting. It is in 24 degrees of Scorpio on the Full Moon, forming a fixed cross with the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius.  It also featured in yet another Yod with Mars in Gemini and Chiron in 23 degrees of Aries.  This is a very pressure-cooker type vibe that will make us want to release stress.

If your head is spinning with all this talk of T-squares, crosses and Yods, you are not alone.  The bottom line with this Full Moon in Aquarius is that it will have major implications for our collective and personal futures.

On August 22, the Sun enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo.  Our focus will shift to getting organized, paying attention to details and taking better care of our health.  We will tend to be more practical and less inclined to crave drama, which can be a welcome relief.

The Big Solar Eclipse in Libra Features a Yod

Hang on everyone, because the Big One is coming.  We have a Solar Eclipse in 21 degrees of Libra on October 14, 2023.  A Solar Eclipse in Libra is going to shine a light on relationships and can represent a release point and turnover. It is quite literally a closing cycle so that new beginnings can occur.  We can find ourselves getting rid of people-pleasing characteristics and I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about a lot more break-ups as a result of this eclipse. The South Node in Libra also symbolizes ending in relationships.  There is a tremendous amount of tension present in the chart for this eclipse.

For starters, we have a cardinal T-square involving the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pallas and the South Node in Libra squaring Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  Don't forget that Pluto is also squaring the North Node in 24 degrees of Aries.  Pluto squaring the Nodes is no picnic because it generates so much intensity.  Mars just entered Scorpio on October 12, when I posted:

Mars enters Scorpio today where it is comfortable, direct, passionate, determined, focused and stubborn because it is fixed water. #astrology

— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) October 12, 2023

Mars in Libra was anything but peaceable and Mars in Scorpio is still being squared by Pluto in Capricorn on the eclipse because it is only at 1 degree of Scorpio.  Mars in Libra squared Pluto in Capricorn on October 7, when I posted:

Mars in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn today can trigger impulsive and aggressive energy as contests for control are possible. Tread carefully. #astrology

— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) October 8, 2023

I don't think that anyone can ignore that Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 when the effects of this square were coming into play.  Pluto was also squaring the Nodes in Libra and Aries.  Mars in Libra has been very active and disruptive.  The bottom line with this cardinal pile-up of planets is that action happens; cardinal signs love to initiate.  I think it bears repeating that anyone with planets or points (Ascendant, IC, Descendant or Midheaven) in 27-29 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are bound to be feeling a lot of tension as a result of this eclipse.  The intensity is off the charts...

Pluto also stationed direct on October 10 in 27 degrees of Capricorn. Pluto is a major player in this eclipse.  On that day I posted:

The major astrological event of today is Pluto stationing direct in Capricorn after 5 months retrograde. Hopefully we can find it easier to accept the transformations that are sweeping our lives on a personal and collective level. #astrology

— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) October 10, 2023

But Mars in Scorpio does trine Saturn in 2 degrees of Pisces on October 13, which can be a more stabilizing influence and gives us more perseverance and courage to tackle the difficulties and challenges that lie ahead.  It is also a reality check.

Mercury in Libra is also opposing Chiron in 17 degrees of Aries on the eclipse.  This can reveal secrets and also trigger some healing which is much needed.

And now for the Yod.  A Yod is a configuration that exists when two planets form a supportive sextile (60 degrees apart) to each other while also forming an irritating inconjunct or quincunx (150 degrees apart) to a third planet.  A Yod is sometimes called the Finger of God or Finger of Fate.  Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus is sextiling Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces while they both are inconjunct the Moon in 21 degrees of Libra.  A Yod creates tension that needs to be released and adjustments must be made.  This tension can also leave us feeling very powerless over what is happening.  But we are undergoing many changes right now in the world and breaking karmic cycles is a big theme with this eclipse.

I have a vested interest in this Yod because I have a Yod in my natal chart involving my Moon in Gemini, North Node in Capricorn and Saturn in Scorpio.  If you have a Yod in your chart, it is interpreted as having a special mission in life and you could feel compelled to break ancestral patterns.  So, in many ways, it is a fated placement.  I can attest to the fact that it makes you feel different and you frequently question why unusual things keep happening to you.  I sometimes refer to it as the "Why me?" aspect.  I won't deny that it can be a difficult aspect because it requires lots of adjustments over the course of your life, but it is said to be good for the soul.  The Solar Eclipse in Libra occurs in my 1st house conjunct my Ascendant, while Uranus in Taurus is in my 8th house and Neptune in Pisces is in my 6th house.

I will also mention that the last time we had a Solar Eclipse in 21 degrees of Libra was on October 14, 2004.  How ironic that it is 19 years to the day in the same degree!  If you were around back then, I encourage you to reflect on what issues you were dealing with at that time because some of them could be resurfacing now.  I know that for me I was dealing with health issues and took up Pilates in the fall of 2004.  Now that Neptune in Pisces is currently in my 6th house, I wouldn't be surprised if this eclipse triggers some issues with my health or daily routines in my life.  I will say that Pilates was good for my soul and body, though...

I wish everyone much peace and resolution of tension in your relationships during this eclipse.

Zelle payments can be sent using my telephone number

617-304-2205. I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

A Solar Eclipse in Leo Caps Off Eclipse Season

The final eclipse of 2018 may be a partial solar eclipse, unlike the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, which was also known as the Great American Eclipse, but it will by no means be inconsequential because it also a Supermoon. It will occur on August 11, 2018 in 18 degrees of Leo at 5:58 a.m.

Leo is the sign that rules the heart and love. This eclipse will feature themes of love, creative self-actualization and making choices from our heart.  It will be a time to explore the path of your heart’s desires. There is a new state of awareness coming and it is futile to resist it.  This eclipse is also a repeat of a solar eclipse that occurred on August 11, 1999 in 18 degrees of Leo.  If you are old enough to remember it, I encourage you to reflect on your soul’s growth in the past 19 years because there could definitely be some themes repeated or even closure of a cycle in your life.  I can tell you that this eclipse will bring sudden, radical shifts as it can result in a collapse of existing structures and the rebuilding will have far reaching effects.  And the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will feel it the most.

The astrological panorama for this solar eclipse is intense, to say the least.  For starters, it features seven (7) retrograde planets: Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Pluto and Uranus, which stationed retrograde on August 7, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:

Uranus stations retrograde today joining the planetary #retrograde party. It’s an opportunity to receive intuitive breakthroughs if we reflect on the deeper meanings of sudden changes & losses of 2018. #astrology

— Linda Simons (@danceofphoenix) August 7, 2018

Eclipses are always considered to be wild card energy, but this one is particularly Uranian because it occurs only four days after Uranus stationed retrograde.  Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus is also squaring the north node in 5 degrees of Leo and the south node in 5 degrees of Aquarius.  The bottom line with Uranus squaring the nodal axis on the day of a solar eclipse of this magnitude is that it will have a major impact on our collective future destiny.  Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus is also trining Saturn in 3 degrees of Capricorn.  While trines are usually considered to be favorable aspects, the diametrically opposed natures of these two planets are not exactly compatible. They are literally a clash of viewpoints. Uranus craves freedom and Saturn is all about preserving the status quo.  This can play out in a real stop and go type of vibe in which it feels difficult to make any progress.  But the saving grace of this aspect is that if we exercise patience and diligence (Saturn) we can achieve the change we desire (Uranus).

The solar eclipse in 18 degrees of Leo also squares Jupiter in 14 degrees of Scorpio.  Since Jupiter loves to amplify anything it touches, count on it to magnify our feelings and we may be prone to overreacting, especially with the sun and moon in Leo, a sign that loves drama.

We do have one especially nice aspect featured in this solar eclipse: the ongoing trine of Jupiter in Scorpio to Neptune in Pisces.  This is a marvelous aspect for instilling compassion and faith.  Meditation, reflection and soul searching are favored with this aspect.

There is an extremely fated quality about this eclipse because it features a yod involving Pluto in 19 degrees of Capricorn and Neptune in 15 degrees of Pisces.  Pluto and Neptune are forming a supportive sextile with each other but both are forming an irritating inconjunct with the sun and moon in Leo. Pluto’s role in this eclipse contains themes of transformation and loss while recognizing our fears and adjusting our behavior to adapt to the ever changing and challenging circumstances that we face.  And there will be issues of authority with Pluto involved.  We will have lessons to learn regarding personal will and power in terms of letting go of our ego as learn to rule with Neptune’s compassion while utilizing Pluto’s insight to incorporate our spiritual values into our use of personal power.  There is a very mystical feeling with this yod.  It is also a fabulous opportunity to change our emotional patterns to support the changes and move forward.

Don’t forget to set a new intention on the day of the solar eclipse because it is literally a new moon, even if I tend to refer to solar eclipses as new moons on steroids.  And the same holds true for lunar eclipses; they are like full moons on steroids.  Take a look at what house this eclipse falls in your chart and set a new intention through prayer, meditation, affirmations or whatever ritual you feel comfortable with.  This eclipse falls in my 11^th house, so I should be setting new intentions for my goals and social networks.   It is also squaring my natal sun and Venus in Scorpio and opposing my natal Mars in Aquarius.  So I am not kidding when I say that this solar eclipse will affect fixed signs.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including this summer’s eclipses, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn retrograde, Mars retrograde in Aquarius, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. I even offer the option of tarot readings. There is something for everyone.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.

I am also offering my Mars Retrograde Special reading which is another tool for dealing with the frustrations of the Mars retrograde transit, which began on June 26, 2018.

Recently I undertook an intensive life purpose coaching training program and became certified as a Life Purpose Coach.  It was an intense, eye-opening experience that changed my life as it caused me to reflect on the story of my life.  But I left it with feelings of hope and light for the future that I want to share with others.  To that end, I am now offering Life Purpose Coaching to my menu of services.  You can read more about it at:

https://phoenixscorpio.blogspot.com/p/life-purpose-coaching-service.html

As an astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign. If you are feeling stuck and need some help in getting from Point A to Point B in your quest for making positive changes in your life, please email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to schedule a complementary telephone consultation to discover if you are a good fit for this program.  I look forward to hearing from you.

If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I am also offering Reiki treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.

But the big news is that I have created and launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel free to check it out at:

www.reikiwithlindasimons.com

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I have also revised my package deals and I am now offering two options for package deals: Silver and a Tarot special for my tarot clients. Please check it out at:
