Mercury in Cancer Blesses Us with Sextile and Trines Before it Enters Leo and Mars Moves into Virgo

 

Mercury is moving pretty fast these days.  It is still in the cardinal water sign of Cancer and has a couple of blessings to bestow upon us before it enters Leo on July 11.  On July 7, Mercury in Cancer forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus.  This can bring exciting news, stimulating conversations and boatloads of inspiration.  There will be thought-provoking ideas galore to be exchanged and flashes of insight popping up.  It is a very social and psychic vibe, so don't be surprised if you are drawn to different types of people.  Trust your intuition on this day and be open to seeking out the unusual.  Sextiles are supportive because they create opportunities and with Mercury sextiling Uranus, we are seeking the unusual and will find it easier to challenge ourselves to try something new.  Mercury in Cancer is currently in my 10th house and Uranus in Taurus is in my 8th house, so I am on the lookout for ways to expand upon my work and source of income.

On July 9, Mercury in Cancer is trining Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  Creativity, imagination, sensitivity and spirituality will be flourishing and this aspect helps us to see the big picture.  It's not so great for focusing on the details, however.  It is also a time when music, the arts and literature are more enjoyable.  We can adjust our ideals so that they can become closer to the reality that we desire.

On July 11, Mercury enters the fixed fire sign of Leo for a whirlwind tour until July 28.  Mercury in Leo will energize communication with creative and dramatic ideas.  We will be thinking more confidently and craving attention to boot. Drama rules when Mercury is in the sign of Leo.  It's a very different vibe from Mercury in Cancer, which is prone to asking others how they feel.  The shadow side of Mercury in Leo is that tempers could flare and we probably won't be such great listeners.

Mars leaves Leo on July 10 and enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo, where it stays until August 27. When Mars enters Virgo it will be immediately trining the North Node in Taurus and sextiling the South Node in Scorpio.  Mars in Virgo is motivated by perfection, precision and the details count.  We want to take action to improve things when Mars is in Virgo and we aren't afraid to work hard to make it happen.  It is a slower, more grounded version of Mars than Mars in Leo.  Mars in Virgo making favorable aspects to the Nodes affords us the opportunity to let go of the past and move forward to our destiny.  Mars in Virgo has  a very down-to-business vibe, is more efficient and is a whiz at solving problems.  It's also perfect energy for tacking health issues.  But the shadow side of Mars in Virgo is a tendency to overanalyze and be too critical. Just be mindful of that while Mars is in Virgo and we should all be fine.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Sun Conjunct Neptune in Pisces Can Either Deliver Dreams and Inspiration or Heightened Paranoia and Sadness

If you are feeling somewhat adrift these days, it's perfectly understandable given the current state of the world and the fact that we are still sailing through Pisces season.  Not only are the Sun, Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces, but on March 9 Mercury entered Pisces.  On that day I tweeted:

The bottom line is that this a great deal of water energy and we all know that the water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces have deep emotions. So we have a stellium in Pisces now.  The Sun and Jupiter were conjunct in 14 degrees of Pisces on March 5 and on March 11, the Sun and Neptune will be conjunct in 22 degrees of Pisces.  Sun-Neptune conjunctions occur once a year and in Pisces they can be a very big deal.

The highest manifestation of a Sun-Neptune conjunction in Pisces can be quite magical and idealistic.  Some people might feel like their dreams are coming true because Neptune is the planet associated with spirituality.  But let us not forget that the planet Neptune also entails delusion, paranoia and sadness.  Addiction, suffering and escapism are common themes related to Neptune's domain.  Deception can run rampant.  This is a deeply emotional time so don't be surprised if you feel the need to cry on this day; feel free to let it out.  Our sensitivity, intuition and empathy are increased when the Sun and Neptune hook up.  This can be good or bad.  If you are surrounded by negative people or situations, this can be very draining.

What is the best way to cope with this deep energy?  One thing you can do if you have some negative influences in your life is to try to set some boundaries.  Neptune is not exactly known for its use of boundaries, but if we are being drained and don't attempt to set some clear boundaries, we will literally feel like we are drowning in a sea of emotions. We can also utilize the escapist theme of this aspect by giving ourself permission to enjoy a movie or book that provides a temporary respite from our reality.  Or we could tap into the compassionate side of this energy and donate to relief funds that support the  Ukrainians.  I have donated to United Help Ukraine, which you can find at:

There is more emotional depth on tap for March 13 with the Moon in Cancer opposing Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn.  This can bring mood swings, turmoil, relationship drama, manipulation and power struggles.  I am not flat out predicting a bad day, but I think that we all need to be aware of the potential pitfalls that could occur.  I would also encourage you to take a look at where this conjunction is falling in your natal chart.  For me, it is in my 6th house of work, health, and daily routines.  It is also conjunct my Part of Fortune in 21 degrees of Pisces.

There is one more upcoming aspect that I would like to address.  On March 17, Mercury in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 12 degrees of Taurus.  This can bring very future-oriented thinking and open-mindedness as our intuitive powers are getting quite the boost. Exciting news and stimulating conversations will abound.  But we could also experience flashes of insight and have dreams with important messages.  So be on alert on that day!

A Second New Moon in Cancer and the Sun Roars into Leo

We have a second new moon in Cancer coming up on July 20, 2020.  The first one occurred on June 21, 2020 in 0 degrees but the one on July 20^th will be in 28 degrees of Cancer.  So anyone with planets in the late degrees of Cancer or any of the other cardinal signs of Aries, Libra or Capricorn should feel the full effects of this new moon.

New moons are traditionally considered an opportunity to plant a seed for new beginnings but this particular new moon has some very challenging aspects that may make it feel more like a full moon.  A new moon in Cancer will always entail themes of new beginnings in the areas of home, family, and emotional security but this new moon features oppositions to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn. 

We got a taste of the Cancer Capricorn polarity earlier this week when the Cancer sun opposed Jupiter in Capricorn on July 14^th and opposed Pluto in Capricorn on July 15^th.  Both of these aspects inspired me to tweet:

We could be experiencing some turbulence today with the Cancer sun opposing Pluto in Capricorn with power struggles and deeply buried internal conflicts emerging for transformation. #astrology

With the new moon in Cancer opposing retrograde Jupiter in Capricorn, we are definitely in the mood for a new chapter in our lives during this pandemic, but we are on the receiving end of mixed messages because that Cancer moon opposing retrograde Saturn in Capricorn is restricting us and placing limitations on our daily lives.  The new moon opposing retrograde Pluto in Capricorn indicates that psychological wounds can be dredged up from the unconscious as we could be facing a period of deep shadow work to release what is no longer serving our best interests and move us forward on the path of transformation.  We are definitely dealing with a deconstruction of the old order and especially with Saturn and Pluto involved it could feel like a real tug of war between the government and the people.  Do you see why I think this could very well feel like a full moon?  Many of us may be struggling with work/life balance issues during this time as many people work from home. 

I know for a fact that this new moon will impact me because it is conjunct my Jupiter Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10^th house.  Talk about a work life challenge! Something is bound to change.  I do my astrology work from home, as well as my distance Reiki treatments.  I hope to be able to get out in the physical world to do in-person Reiki treatments in August but like everyone else I am watching the numbers closely and am deeply concerned about the spike in Coronavirus cases which I am sure can be attributed to the most recent Jupiter Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on June 30, 2020.  And let’s face it, some people did not exactly practice social distancing on the 4^th of July and we are dealing with the repercussions of that as well.

But we do have one saving grace aspect on the new moon of July 20^th. That Cancer moon will be trining Neptune in Pisces.  Okay, it happens right after midnight before the new moon is exact, but it does favor sensitivity, creativity, our imagination and foster compassion towards others.  Our intuition will be strong on this day and I definitely encourage people to meditate and set new intentions on this new moon.

Two days later, on July 22, 2020 the sun enters the fixed fire sign of Leo, which it rules.  When the sun is in Leo, it is a time to shine, be proud and play.  We feel more confident, optimistic, enthusiastic, outgoing and gregarious.  This can be a welcome respite from the past few months.  Just be mindful of the shadow side of Leo, which is a tendency to be arrogant and self-centered.

On July 22, 2020, we also have Mercury in 10 degrees of Cancer sextiling Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  This is a very positive and supportive aspect that can deliver exciting news and is ripe for stimulating conversations.  It’s also got a very future oriented vibe and there could be brilliant flashes of insight.  We should also be open to the possibility of meeting new people and new perspectives under the auspices of this aspect.
