A Dramatic New Moon in Cancer Featuring Black Moon Lilith and Neptune Stationing Retrograde

 

Save the date of June 28, 2022 because it will be a very big day astrologically.  The main event will be the New Moon in 7 degrees of Cancer.  New Moons are the perfect time to set new intentions and plant the seeds for a fresh start.  The Moon rules the sign of Cancer, so this one is bound to make us feel more sensitive, intuitive and emotional.  There will undoubtedly be  drama and big happenings on this day because the Sun and Moon are also squaring Jupiter in 7 degrees of Aries.  Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches and on a New Moon in Cancer it can bring emotional drama via ego clashes as well as good fortune, growth and abundance.  Venus in Gemini is also forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in Aries adding to the good luck piece of love, socializing and finances. We could also be hearing more news about inflation.  It goes without saying that the water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces or anyone with planets in the early degrees of this sign will feel the emotional impact of this New Moon the most intensely.  I am on alert with this New Moon because it is conjunct my South Node in Cancer in my 9th house, so I sense that I need to set some intentions on releasing a big part of my past that no longer serves my best interests.

The New Moon in Cancer is also conjunct the asteroid Black Moon Lilith in 8 degrees of Cancer.  Black Moon Lilith is the asteroid that pertains to the shadow side of us that keeps us trapped in a cycle of self-destructive behavior.  Black Moon Lilith spends about eight months in a sign.  When Black Moon Lilith is in Cancer, the shadow of support is present and our fear of abandonment can cause us to project issues of dependency and neediness onto others.  Some of our deepest and darkest secrets can be revealed.  I am mentioning this because I have a very prominent Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio that has had a strong influence on my life.  When I learned about Black Moon Lilith about nine years ago, I engaged in some very deep soul searching because it gave meaning to a lot of the emotional pain that I had endured and inspired me to make some changes in my life.  I also offer a Black Moon Lilith reading that provides tremendous insight into how you self-sabotage.  It is not for the faint of heart, but if you are up for some deep work on yourself it is well worth it. Knowledge can be very empowering.

Neptune is stationing retrograde in 25 degrees of Pisces on the New  Moon as well.  Neptune will remain retrograde until December 3, 2022 when it stations direct in 22 degrees of Pisces.  When Neptune is retrograde, we tend to want more spirituality in our lives.  But Neptune retrograde can also cause confusion, more drug abuse, toxicity, secrets and deception.  Neptune retrograde internalizes our fears and anxieties by stripping away illusions.  It can reveal the source of the pain we are trying to escape from (Neptune is the planet associated with escapism, after all) but Neptune retrograde can enhance spiritual self-development.  We are much more likely to listen to our inner voice at this time. Neptune is retrograde for approximately 160 days every year, which is 40% of the time and it causes much less disruption than Mercury retrograde.  Its effects can very subtle.  

The bottom line with this New Moon in Cancer is that it will be more emotional than usual and don't be surprised if you find yourself engaged in some deep soul searching due to the fact that Neptune in Pisces is also stationing retrograde on that day.  Planets are at their most powerful when they are stationing direct or retrograde.  The emotional depth of this New Moon is also emphasized by its conjunction to Black Moon Lilith in Cancer.  Allow yourself the time and space to get in touch with your feelings and set some new intentions on June 28, 2022.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Super Full Moon in Taurus and Mercury and Venus Change Signs

I think that many of us are still reeling from the recent United States Presidential election in which Donald Trump was elected president.  What happened and who saw it coming?  Certainly not the political pollsters!

Astrologically, I am attributing it to Mars entering Aquarius and Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio.  In my last blog post on November 4, 2016, I predicted that Mars entering Aquarius could indicate a cliffhanger election with delayed results.  That certainly panned out. I went to bed shortly after midnight, and while Trump had not yet been officially declared the winner, it was not looking good for Hillary Clinton.   I awoke at 7:30 a.m. to the news that Donald Trump had been elected President of the United States. On November 9, 2016 I tweeted:

“Mars is in Aquarius now officially giving us the green light to initiate sweeping change & move in new directions.”

“Mars in Aquarius conjunct Hillary Clinton’s Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius may have contributed to her loss, manifesting fear of powerlessness.”

It is common astrological knowledge that when a planet is in 29 degrees of a sign, it is referred to as the critical or anaretic degree.  There is a sense of urgency to complete the lesson of that sign. I related to what astrologer Kristin Fontana commented on Mars this week:

“Mars leaving the sign of Capricorn suggests we are pulling away from a patriarchal mindset and model, opening ourselves up to a more alternative way through.  Mars in Aquarius energizes transformation and in some cases a revolution.”

The asteroid Black Moon Lilith in 23 degrees of Scorpio was a mere two degrees away from Hillary Clinton’s natal retrograde Mercury in 21 degrees of Scorpio.  It is clearly an understatement to say that it did not bring good news for her.

Obviously, Donald Trump’s election represented a major rejection of the old way of conducting business in Washington and will no doubt be referred to historically as a cogent indicator of a  revolution in the government of the United States of America.  It’s also important to remember that the United States of America was literally born during Pluto in Capricorn and will be facing its first Pluto Return in 2022.  Time will tell what direction that revolution takes us towards.

Meanwhile, back at the astrological ranch, back to pressing business.  Venus moves into Capricorn on November 11, 2016 and this will place more of an emphasis on making relationships work well.  We will feel more responsible and committed in our relationships and financial endeavors. After all of the recent turmoil with the election, Venus in earthy Capricorn may be the ticket to healing that this country needs.  It’s not a bad idea to focus on smoothing out hurt feelings during this highly transitional period.  And it also Veteran’s Day in the United States, so let’s not forget our veterans as we honor them on this holiday for their service and sacrifices.

On November 12, 2016, Mercury leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius.  No one can deny the intensity of Mercury in Scorpio the past few weeks, so Mercury’s entrance into the sign of Sagittarius should signify a welcome relief as we feel lighter and are able to laugh at ourselves and see the humor in life.  Of course, we need to be mindful of the tendency to be more scattered, judgmental and blunt.  Sagittarius is prone to speaking before thinking, earning the moniker “foot in mouth disease.”

And, ta-da, we have a Super Full Moon in 23 degrees of Taurus on November 14, 2016.  The Taurus Full Moon hasn’t been this close to the earth since 1948, so this is truly a big deal.  The moon in Taurus is traditionally considered to be exalted.  Full moons also are a time of completion and this also ties in with our current political climate.  Situations can shift at a deep level, as evidenced by recent events, and we can also find that we access our soul’s wisdom to deal with everyday issues in our lives.  But the placement of this full moon in earth is key indicator that practical magic can occur as we week to increase our contentment, abundance and pleasure in life.  Pluto in Capricorn also features prominently in this full moon, as it trines that Taurus moon, increasing the potential to release toxic situations and people from our lives.  Taurus loves the earthy sensual pleasures of life, so this is the perfect time to engage in fine dining, massage, and other forms of self-care such as bodywork or complementary healing like acupuncture or Reiki.

The full moon in Taurus falls in my 8^th house directly opposing my Venus in Scorpio in my 2^nd house.  I sense that this will bring a deep inner change around my self- worth and values.  This is truly a time for me to live my values and form bonds from a place of strength, not weakness, so that real stability can emerge.  I don’t know about you, but I am craving a sense of stability in my life with the Uranus in Aries transit.

Mercury and Black Moon in Scorpio and Mars in Aquarius Make Strange Bedfellows as Presidential Election Looms

We are all very much aware that this is the season of Scorpio and that a Presidential Election is looming in the United States.  But in addition to the sun being in Scorpio, Mercury and the asteroid Black Moon Lilith are also transiting the sign of Scorpio.

Mercury in Scorpio is really invested in getting to the bottom of matters and discovering what makes people tick.  It is a true detective and there may be a touch of suspicion and paranoia that manifests as negativity.  Mercury in Scorpio is intense and motivated.  Mercury in Scorpio has already been very active; on November 3^rd it sextiled its ruling planet Pluto in Capricorn, inspiring me to tweet:

“Our words and communication take on added power today as Mercury in Scorpio sextiles ruling planet in Capricorn.”

On November 6, 2016, transiting Mercury in Scorpio will trine Chiron in 20 degrees of Pisces.  Perhaps we can actually experience some healing through communication on that day.   But on November 7, 2016, Mercury in Scorpio will form an irritating, adjustment oriented aspect called an inconjunct to Uranus in 21 degrees of Aries. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one last explosive news story concerning the election erupting that day.

I don’t know if many of you are aware of the asteroid Black Moon Lilith, but I am literally being blown away by the impact it is having on me personally and the election.  For those of you haven’t had a Black Moon Lilith reading with me, it is an asteroid that represents the shadow side of our personality that keeps us trapped in cycles of self-defeating behavior.  When we become aware of our issues, it helps us reclaim our personal power.  The transiting Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio has been creeping up on my Scorpio sun since mid-October and will move off my sun on November 12^, 2016. It is really an awesome birthday gift because when the Black Moon Lilith moves off your sun you start feeling better as a sense of relief emerges with a new perspective!  When the transiting Black Moon Lilith conjuncts your sun, it drains your energy and you need more sleep.  It is a very intense transit and a highly emotional period that forces you to confront your past as an integral part of the rebirth process of moving forward.  So I am literally embracing my inner Phoenix these days!

On October 28, 2016, the day that FBI director James Comey announced the existence of new emails involving Anthony Weiner related to the Hillary Clinton email investigation, transiting Mercury was in 5 degrees of Scorpio conjunct Hillary Clinton’s sun in 2 degrees of Scorpio. Obviously, this was experienced as very personal attack on her campaign.  On November 8, 2016, the day of the United States Presidential Election, transiting Mercury will be in 23 degrees of Scorpio conjunct Hillary Clinton’s natal Mercury in 21 degrees of Scorpio.  Will this be good news for her?  But the transiting Black Moon Lilith will be in 19 degrees of Scorpio also conjunct her natal retrograde Mercury in Scorpio on November 8^th.  How does this transit play out?  Well, when the transiting Black Moon Lilith conjuncts natal Mercury, there can be challenges in relating and communications accompanied by anxiety, obsession and misunderstandings followed by newfound clarity and new opportunities for her self-expression in relationship and career issues. The greatest fear of the Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio is loss, and its issues are winning and losing, the shadow of death and endings.  Trust me on this score - I have my natal Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio and know its implications well.  I would not be surprised if this election, the most contentious that I can remember in my lifetime, is a real cliffhanger and the results could be delayed.

And now to that Aquarius energy.  The moon is in the sign of Aquarius until 4:45 p.m. on November 8^th and then it moves into compassionate Pisces until November 10^th.  And on the west coast of the United States, Mars enters Aquarius at 9:51 p.m., and at 12:51 a.m. on November 9^th on the east coast.  Mars in Aquarius is all about independence, a strong need for freedom and unique perspective.  Since Aquarius is a fixed sign, it can also be willful and determined.  Mars in Aquarius has a strong reformer streak and seeks equality.  It is open to new ways of doing things as long as it is not rammed down one’s throat. Once again, you can trust me on this one because I have Mars in Aquarius and I have been known to engage in many battles to fight for principles and fairness in my life. Mars in Aquarius will also feature prominently in Hillary Clinton’s chart, as it conjuncts her natal Black Moon Lilith in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  The plot thickens!  What are the shadow, fears and issues associated with Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius?  Black Moon Lilith in Aquarius has a fear of powerlessness, its shadow is power and its issues are power struggles and self-discipline.  When Mars hits this sensitive point in Hillary Clinton’s chart, it could trigger all of these issues for her.

Don’t forget to turn the clocks back as Daylight Savings Time ends on November 6^th at 2:00 a.m. and by all means, don’t forget to VOTE on November 8^th!  This election is important.
