Uranus and Pluto are Moving Backwards and A New Moon in Virgo

 

The month of September will start off with the proverbial bang as it thrusts us deeper into retrograde season.  Uranus stations retrograde in 27 degrees of Taurus on September 1 and doesn't go direct until January 30, 2025 in 23 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus is the planet that represents sudden change and rebellion.  When Uranus is retrograde, we can be facing more internal than external changes in our lives.  We can still be wanting to break free of restraints but it will be on a psychological level.  I have Uranus retrograde natally, so it is energy that I am familiar with.  Uranus retrograde is a time to contemplate what types of changes we want to make and open our minds up to new possibilities.  Uranus retrograde will be nowhere near as disruptive as the recent Mercury retrograde and we can all be grateful for that.

I can tell you that anyone who has planets in 26-28 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel the need more intensely to bust out of confining situations.  When Uranus stations retrograde, it will be exactly opposing my natal Ceres in 27 degrees of Scorpio, squaring my natal Pluto in Leo in October and opposing my natal retrograde Venus in Scorpio from late November through mid-December.  So once again, I will be having the full experience of what happens when a planet is retrograde.

Pluto has been retrograde since May 2 when it stationed in 2 degrees of Aquarius, but on September 1 it will move back into 29 degrees of Capricorn where it stays until November 19.  Pluto will move into direct motion on October 11, but it will still be at 29 degrees of Capricorn.  This is the last pass of Pluto in Capricorn for nearly 230 years and I can only surmise that there will be intense pressure to transform our structures and power imbalances.  There could also be some last gasp attempts to cling to the old power systems.  The Presidential election in the United States could get really ugly but I am sure that does not come as a big surprise. to anyone. Corruption could be revealed during this period.  And the fact that Pluto remains in 29 degrees, the anaretic degree, of Capricorn only serves to underscore the fact that we are winding up a cycle that began in 2008 before Pluto re-enters Aquarius on November 19 for another 20 years.  Hopefully that can indeed usher in a period of power to the people.  But just remember that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the cardinal signs of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer and Libra as well as anyone with planets in 0-2 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will be feeling this influence intensely.  And I am also in the line of fire for this one with my Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer and Neptune in Libra, plus my Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio.

We do have a delightful New Moon in 11 degrees of Virgo on September 2.  New Moons are traditionally associated with planting the seeds for our intentions and Virgo is the sign ruled by Mercury, so it possible to have a fresh start in issues pertaining to communication, transportation, health, work and daily routines. Virgo is also mutable earth, which can be more practical and adapts well to getting organized, purifying and detoxing.  The New Moon in Virgo will be opposing Saturn in 16 degrees of Pisces, which can bring in some rules around health and the virus.  No one likes to hear it, but COVID has been surging lately and there is a new vaccine available.  Mercury in Leo will be exactly trining Chiron in 22 degrees of Aries on the New Moon, which should make it easier to communicate with others and express our vulnerability.  So feel free to set those intentions on this last New Moon before eclipse season kicks off in October.

On September 3, we have a somewhat problematic square between Mars in Gemini and Neptune in Pisces.  Both planets are in 29 degrees of their respective signs, so here we go again with that anaretic degree theme.  Anger can be an issue on this day, as can confusion,, deception, lies and guilt.  Suspicion, jealousy and hypochondria are other potential manifestations of this aspect.  Just be mindful that if something sounds too good to be true on this day, it's probably best not to act on it.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. Pluto Slips Back into Capricorn and Mercury Zips into Gemini

 

Pluto is about to leave Aquarius after giving us a taste of life in the fixed air sign since March 23.  It introduced us to AI and the promise of more technological breakthroughs.  But Pluto stationed retrograde on May 1, never making it past 0 degrees of  Aquarius.  On June 11, Pluto will slip back into the anaretic degree of 29 degrees of Capricorn.  The anaretic degree of a sign is known as the critical or fated degree because it tends to trigger a sense of urgency or crisis. If you are feeling a sense of this is do or die time, you are feeling it already. Pluto stations direct in 27 degrees of Capricorn on October 10, 2023.  Pluto will be back in Capricorn until January 24, 2024 when it slips back into Aquarius but due to the fact that it retrogrades every year, it will re-enter Capricorn for its final pass from September 24, 2024 through November 20, 2024 before it settles into Aquarius until March 8, 2043.

What can we expect during this next stage of the Pluto in Capricorn transit?  Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008, transforming the financial, political and governmental structures of our lives.  And it is by no means done yet.  Pluto is also associated with power and we are about to undergo more changes.  Pluto can be like a wrecking ball, or as I frequently like to refer to it, the Roto-Rooter of planets.  It is going to dredge up some very ugly stuff, forcing us to descend into the underworld, before we can move forward.  There is a lot of unfinished business to be attended to.  It is not an understatement to say that our government could radically change by the end of 2024. And we have another election year in 2024 for the United States.  The Pluto Return of the United States continues...

My progressed Sun is in 29 degrees of Capricorn and won't enter Aquarius until early May 2024.  So yes, folks, I am right in the thick of it.  I am also a Scorpio and lived through transiting Pluto in Scorpio conjunct my natal Sun back in the days of October through December 1991.  It was not the lightest of times and I can tell you that I personally felt as though certain authoritarian powers were getting the best of me back then.  My job went through many unpleasant changes which I had no control over, which is probably pretty typical of having Pluto transiting your 2nd house.  Pluto in Capricorn is currently transiting my 4th house, and that is certainly an intense transit too.

Mercury cleared its retrograde shadow on May 31 and is about to enter Gemini on June 11, the same day that Pluto re-enters Capricorn.  But on June 9, Mercury in Taurus will form a supportive sextile to Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces.  When Mercury sextiles Neptune, we could hear some inspiring news (which we could sorely use right now) and our intuition and empathy will be soaring. Mercury in Taurus also departs with a trine to Pluto in Capricorn on June 11.  This can lend more passion and persuasive powers to our communication.  Hold on to those good thoughts... 

Mercury will literally zip through Gemini, departing on June 26.  Mercury is a happy camper in the sign of Gemini, one of the two signs that it rules.  The other sign is Virgo.  When Mercury is in Gemini, we tend to be more curious, social and communicative.  But the shadow side of Mercury in Gemini is that we can be more scattered, as we are prone to multi-tasking.  And we can have more nervous energy.  We really need to pay attention to details right now and don't be afraid to ask the questions to get the answers so that we can take the next steps.

Mercury in Gemini will be squaring Saturn in 7 degrees of Pisces on June 15.  I will not sugarcoat this aspect, as it can be accompanied by negative thinking, misunderstandings and distance in close relationships.  The major theme of Mercury squaring Saturn is to see the worst possible side of a situation.  Saturn tends to trigger our fears.  Just remember this and you will get through it...

Mercury in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus Lead the Way to a Super Full Moon in Capricorn

 

There has been a huge planetary shift in the past week and there are more changes coming with a Super Full Moon in Capricorn on July 13.  On July 5th, Mars moved into Taurus and Mercury entered Cancer.  It represented a shift from these two planets going from fire and air to earth and water.  On that day I tweeted:

It’s a day of major changes today as 2 planets change signs. Mars moves into Taurus and we become more motivated to be practical and tenacious. Mercury enters Cancer as our communication becomes more emotional and we are apt to listen more. #astrology

On July 9, Mercury in Cancer is exactly square Jupiter in 8 degrees of Aries.  This aspect can be a mixed bag because squares to Jupiter are never totally bad, like Mars squaring Saturn or Pluto, for example.  This square will bring optimism and a broad outlook to assist us in making plans for the future.  But it does have the potential for overlooking small details which can lead to mistakes and errors in judgment.  It has an everything looks great feeling which can be misleading. I have a natal Mercury-Jupiter square myself, so I know first-hand that it can feel like anything is possible and the sky is the limit.  

On the following day, July 10, the Sun in Cancer is forming an exact supportive sextile to Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  Sextiles are very favorable aspects but you have to take advantage of them and work them to reap their benefits.  The Sun sextiling Uranus can bring pleasant surprises as it encourages us to try something new and exciting.  We should be feeling more creative and have more insight.  It's a day to let your freak flag fly and be spontaneous.

Pluto in Capricorn is also going to factor in heavily with this Full Moon.  On July 12, the United States will be experiencing the second hit of its Pluto Return with Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn. The first hit occurred on February 22, 2022 and the third will happen on December 28, 2022.  So the bottom line is that we are spending the year of 2022 engaged in a Pluto Return for the United States.  This involved confrontations, conflicts and upsets in addition to changes in our economy and banking structures.  

The Full Moon in 21 degrees of Capricorn on July 13 is deemed to be a Super Moon because it is so close to the earth that it is highly visible. It is also conjunct Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn and it will be activating the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn of January 12, 2020.  Don't be surprised if there are more issues emerging pertaining to government control of our lives. This Super Full Moon will be intensely emotional as power is also a major theme.  Will it be power over the people or power of the people?

Anyone with planets in 21-27 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will feel the effects of this Full Moon the most.  Once again, I am caught in the crossfire with my Chiron in Capricorn, Neptune in Libra and Uranus in Cancer being in the line of fire, so to speak.  I also encourage people to think back to the New Moon in 12 degrees of Capricorn that occurred on January 12, 2022.  What did you begin back then?  You might be seeing some culmination or completion of that cycle now.  The Full Moon is also trining Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus, which can be a very positive and constructive aspect.  Don't rule out technology as being a friend to us now or the potential for new healing approaches to emerge.

Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces is also quite active in this Full Moon.  It is squaring Venus in 25 degrees of Gemini, which is a boon for creativity and romance. But it can lead to disinformation and some deception, so be alert...  But the nicest aspect that Neptune in Pisces makes is a trine to the Sun in 21 degrees of Cancer and Ceres in 25 degrees of Cancer while also forming a supportive sextile to the Full Moon in 21 degrees of Capricorn.  Hopefully this will bring out a more nurturing side to all of us and help provide food to those who need it.  Just maybe this will bring an end to those food shortages with that trine to Ceres in Cancer.

Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn Get Busy in April

Saturn and Pluto are both in the sign of Capricorn, but they are nowhere near being conjunct.   That astrological event occurs on January 12, 2020 in 22 degrees of Capricorn, but both planets have been very active this past week and will continue to aspect several other planets for a while.  I don’t exactly know why I started thinking so much about the Saturn Pluto conjunction when it is so far off, but I found myself reflecting on the last Saturn Pluto conjunction, which occurred on November 7, 1982 in 27 degrees of Libra.  It conjuncted my natal Neptune in Libra in my first house and was actually a boon for my work as a psychic, but it also played out as a time of recession in the world arena. Saturn and Pluto can definitely affect the financial climate, even if they aren't in the sign of Capricorn.  I also started pondering how the upcoming Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn would manifest.  The next Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn will be conjunct my natal Chiron in my fourth house and I confess that one has me a little nervous.  Pluto entered my fourth house in late January 2018 and it was not the smoothest entrance for this transit.

The year 2020 will see another presidential election and many believe that our government will undergo massive changes in that year.  There will be a great deal of Capricorn energy in play astrologically that year.  On April 5, 2020 Jupiter and Pluto will be conjunct in 24 degrees of Capricorn as well.

The themes of these two planets are pretty intense.  Pluto is all about death, power, transformation and it likes to slough off the old stuff and renew itself.  And then there is Saturn, aka the Great Taskmaster, which pertains to structure, discipline, responsibility, practicality and testing.  These two planets are hardly lightweights and when they interact with other planets it can be a heavy, intense time.

On April 2, 2018, Mars and Saturn were conjunct in 8 degrees of Capricorn, inspiring me to tweet:

But this aspect was conjunct my north node in my third house, so I suppose that explains why I am so obsessed and preoccupied with Capricorn energy these days.  I am definitely under the influence of Saturn these days.

On April 5, 2018, retrograde Mercury in 9 degrees of Aries squared Saturn in 9 degrees of Capricorn, which exacerbated the tendency towards angry and depressing communications.  I specifically mentioned the retrograde Mercury because I tweeted about it on April 4^th when in reality it wasn’t exact until 4:22 a.m. on April 5^th.  I have been experiencing my fair share of Mercury retrograde woes, including transit problems and missed connections with other people.

We do have a ray of light coming with Saturn in Capricorn, however.  On April 7^th, Venus in 8 degrees of Taurus will trine Saturn in 9 degrees of Capricorn.  This should bring some measure of harmony to love and finances if we are willing to make an effort to dig deep to resolve issues and act in a more nurturing manner.

On April 8, 2018, the moon will conjunct Pluto in 21 degrees of Capricorn.  This is definitely not going to be an easygoing, flowing conjunction.  Be prepared for some deep rooted emotions and compulsive behavior to surface.

The Sun in 21 degrees of Aries will form a very challenging square to Pluto in 21 degrees of Capricorn on April 11, 2018. I have this aspect natally with my Scorpio sun squaring my Pluto in Leo so I know all too well how tough this aspect can be.  It provides a great deal of inner tension and is literally a struggle between the sun’s will to move forward and the Plutonian need to engage in negative, self-destructive behavior.  Issues of control and ego conflicts can be major factors with this aspect as well.  But there is tremendous power and strength with this aspect that can be harnessed and channeled into constructive and healing purposes if we are willing to confront our fears and our dark side in order to transform our own behavior.  Perhaps we will need to acknowledge that we are drawing upsetting situations into our lives because of our fears but we also need to honor the resilience we possess to overcome the obstacles in our path to move forward and be free of some of those compulsions of that darker side that we all have.  The promise of renewal and rebirth lie at the end of this tunnel process.

Mercury Moves into Virgo as Saturn and Pluto Get Busy Stirring the Astrological Pot

Mercury, which is FINALLY DIRECT (drumroll, please) is moving back into the sign of Virgo on September 9, 2017 and it stays in Virgo until September 29, 2017.  And on September 19, 2017, when it hits 11 degrees of Virgo, the degree of Mercury’s retrograde station on August 12^th, we finally clear the Mercury Retrograde shadow.  But I think that many of us are feeling relief already.

Mercury is joining the sun and Mars in Virgo, which entered Virgo on September 5, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:

Venus will join them on September 19^th, which is ironically the day Mercury clears its retrograde shadow.

Think back to what was going on in your life in late July and early August when Mercury was last in Virgo.  Anything that was unresolved can now be worked through as we all have the opportunity for a do-over.  Mercury is very comfortable in its home sign of Virgo (its other home sign is Gemini) and it can feel free to do its thing, which includes analyzing, problem solving, focusing on the details and being precise in speech, thought and process. Our minds are sharper and we are able to communicate with others more effectively. Mercury in Virgo is also very practical, due in no small part to its earth sign placement. It may not be as much fun as Mercury in Leo, but at least it is productive.  And it’s lacking the drama of Mercury in Leo.  It’s not a bad time to be of service to others, which is also Virgo’s domain.  Don’t be afraid to speak out or send out an email or even write a letter about a cause that is dear to your heart.

But with Mercury in Virgo we do need to be mindful of the tendency to be too critical of others or become too picky.  The other potential downfall with Mercury in Virgo is the tendency to block off our creativity because we are so focused and precise. The most productive way to channel that Mercury in Virgo energy is to learn something new by taking a class or reading a book or seeing a movie that sparks your creativity.

Pluto in Capricorn is finishing up its retrograde stint that began on April 20, 2017.  It will station direct on September 29, 2017 in 16 degrees of Capricorn, but it is still pretty busy these days.  On September 8, 2017, Mars in 1 degree of Virgo forms a challenging aspect called a semi-square with Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn.  Most of us are very familiar with the blocked energy associated with a square aspect, which occurs when two planets are 90 degrees apart.  Well, a semi-square is exactly what it sounds like: two planets 45 degrees apart.  It also represents deeply blocked energy, but while the square aspect tends to occur on an internal level, a semi-square can manifest as external events.  When Mars and Pluto collide in this kind of aspect, some ugly confrontations are possible.

Mark your calendars for September 9, 2017 because Pluto is the recipient of two other major aspects.  Venus in 16 degrees of Leo forms a challenging, irritating, annoying inconjunct with Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn.  The theme with this aspect is that adjustments are necessary on both sides, especially if there is a great deal of mistrust in order to reach common goals.  Sounds a lot like the current American political climate, n’est pas?  But the most optimistic aspect that occurs on September 9^th occurs when the sun in 16 degrees of Virgo trines Pluto in 16 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a very supportive aspect that can strengthen our sense of purpose and help us accomplish our goals.  So work it for all its worth.

Saturn in Sagittarius gets busy on September 12^th and 13^th.  On September 12^th Venus in 20 degrees of Leo trines Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius and this is a very favorable aspect for making a dramatic commitment.  On September 13^th, the sun in 20 degrees of Virgo squares off with Saturn in 21 degrees of Sagittarius and this is one is not so much fun.  It can feel frustrating and present obstacles but it does help ground us.  And at least Saturn is direct these days, so its challenging aspects move on more quickly.

Uranus Lends an Unpredictable Vibe to Capricorn Full Moon

Uranus in Aries is lending an unpredictable vibe to the upcoming Full Moon in Capricorn on July 19, 2016.  I know that many of you may think I have been preaching to the choir when I comment that the Uranus Pluto square of 2012-2015 is being activated this summer, but I have ample proof of it.  On July 18, 2016, the moon in Capricorn will conjunct Pluto in 15 degrees of Capricorn.  And on July 19^th, the full moon in 27 degrees of Capricorn will square Uranus in 24 degrees of Aries.  The Cancer sun is emphasizing the Uranus Pluto square with the potential for sudden, disruptive events.  Old paradigms are being challenged as a battle ensues between the need for freedom versus control.  Uranus wants freedom and Pluto wants control.

Is it an astrological coincidence that the Republican National Convention begins on July 18, 2016?  I think not.  On that day the moon in Capricorn will conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, and I have no doubt there will be some power struggles ensuing during this convention.  And then we have a full moon in 27 degrees of Capricorn on July 19^th which features both the sun in Cancer and moon in Capricorn squaring Uranus.

This is one loaded full moon.  The sun in Cancer represents our desire for emotional security, while Pluto in Capricorn represents our practical security in the form of government.  It’s no secret that we are dealing with a strong desire for freedom and change in this country, and many people feel the palpable instability. This could very well lead to taking some very big risks to ensure that freedom and change emerge victorious.  The election year of 2016 is quite unique and we haven’t gotten through the conventions yet, despite the fact that we have presumptive nominees for both parties.   But I also remember that the last time Pluto in Capricorn was during the American Revolution of 1776, so upheaval seems to be the name of the game politically. It’s no secret that Donald Trump has not exactly been warmly embraced or endorsed by the Republican Party so far, but he certainly typifies the Uranian energy that wants change in this country. But many question if the change he purports to symbolize is merely a return to the old outworn structures of government.  Time will tell…

One ongoing aspect that underpins the political scene is the Saturn in Sagittarius/Neptune in Pisces square.  It began on November 26, 2015, was exact again on June 17, 2016 and the final hit will occur on September 10, 2016 in 10 degrees of both signs. But its effects will be felt through October 2016.  A major theme of the Saturn Neptune square is making our dreams real by testing the truth.  Both in the United States and in the United Kingdom, the truth and integrity of our leaders are being tested.  Saturn loves to test; it is after all, the Lord of Karma and the Great Teacher.

While Uranus is definitely a major, albeit disruptive, player in this full moon, we can’t discount the more positive aspects that accompany it.  The full moon in 27 degrees of Capricorn does activate a Grand Water Trine involving the Sun in Cancer, Mars in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces.  This is a deeply healing aspect embodying the themes of security, trust and acceptance of our deepest emotions.  If you have any water planets in 25 to 27 degrees, you will definitely be carried in the emotional tide of this full moon.  I have my Venus in Scorpio and a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Cancer, so I am trying to remain as open as possible to whatever surprises occur during this full moon.  I literally have to walk my talk, so to speak!

Another positive aspect that this full moon in Capricorn makes is a trine to Jupiter in 20 degrees of Virgo, which sextiles Mars in 25 degrees of Scorpio and Chiron in 25 degrees of Pisces.  And Jupiter is trining Pluto in Capricorn to boot, so anyone with planets in 15-20 degrees of the earth signs may benefit through growth opportunities and abundance.

We do have a saving grace protecting us and guiding us in the form of the north node in Virgo conjunct Jupiter in Virgo.  We just have to keep the faith that whatever turmoil we experience is leading us into the place that our soul needs to be. The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services.
