Mercury and Mars Hook Up in Scorpio, A New Moon in Libra, Neptune Dips Back into Pisces and the Sun Enters Scorpio

 

The last full week of October is going out with a bang, pretty much the way it started with that Full Moon in Aries.  On October 20, Mercury and Mars will be conjunct in 20 degrees of Scorpio.  This can quite literally indicate a breaking point, both mentally and emotionally.  We can feel driven to dig deep and investigate with both of these planets in the fixed water sign of Scorpio.  A crisis can occur and we could see aggression on a verbal or emotional level. Powerful communication is likely and I wouldn't be surprised if words were used as weapons. I have my natal Mercury in Scorpio and I have frequently quipped that my mouth could be registered as a lethal weapon. Subconscious truths can be revealed.  This aspect will be quite personal for me because it is conjunct my natal Sun in Scorpio in my 2nd house.

We have a New Moon in 28 degrees of Libra on October 21 that promises to pack quite a punch.  The theme of a New Moon in Libra is to set intentions to create more harmony, but the Sun and Moon in Libra are forming an out of sign square to Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius, which could indicate some power struggles.  Of course, the most positive use of this energy is power to the people, but it seems that like is a work in progress.  

There is actually a Cardinal Grand Cross on the New Moon because it squares Jupiter in 24 degrees of Cancer and opposes Chiron in 24 degrees of Aries.  Aries is very rebellious energy while Jupiter in Cancer is all about self-care and nurturing others.  This Cardinal Grand Cross has strong themes of motivation to make changes, but there can be unbalanced power and lack of equality.  Chiron in Aries opposing the New Moon can trigger old emotional wounds for healing so that we can move forward.  And the New Moon squaring Jupiter in Cancer can bring on a tendency towards self-indulgence.

What else is going on astrologically with the New Moon in Libra?  We also have a Grand Water Trine involving Mars and Mercury in Scorpio trining Jupiter in 24 degrees of Cancer and Saturn in 26 degrees of Pisces.  A Grand Water Trine emphasizes emotions, so expect to have a big case of the feels on this day.. There is the potential for angry words, but try to remember that we are building for the future and use that emotional energy to stay focused.  

This New Moon in Libra will be very personal for me as it conjuncts my Neptune in Libra and Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio in my 1st house.  The Grand Water Trine also trines my Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer.

The action continues on October 22 with two planets moving into water signs.  Neptune moves from Aries, where it has been since March 30, back into Pisces at 5:48 a.m. Neptune will remain in the anaretic or critical degree of 29 in Pisces until January 26, 2026 when it moves back into Aries until May 2038.  Clearly we have some unfinished business to attend to and this transit will be felt the strongest by anyone having planets or points in the late degrees of the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius. This last pass of Neptune in Aries will be a crucial turning point regarding the areas of spirituality, confusion and escapism.  We might be dissolving illusions and obtaining a deeper understanding of the truth as we let go of the past to heal and prepare for a new beginning that Neptune in Aries symbolizes.  On a more mundane level, this last hit of Neptune in Pisces could bring more floods and storms.

The Sun enters the fixed water sign of Scorpio at 11:51 p.m. on October 22. The focus is now on transformation and getting to the bottom of things.  There is nothing superficial or light-hearted about the Sun transiting Scorpio because it literally is an all-or-nothing sign with no halfway measures.  It is a seismic change from the Sun in Libra.  Determination, perseverance and loyalty are earmarks of Scorpio, as is emotional depth and intensity.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Scorpio is about jealousy and vindictiveness.  I am a Scorpio, so trust me, I know that all of these things are true.  A Scorpio can be your most loyal friend, but it you cross them, they can be your worst enemy.  This is the kind of energy we will be dealing with for the next few weeks...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto Take Some Hits Before the Sun Enters Scorpio

Well, we are all hopefully still standing after the powerhouse Super Full Moon in Aries on October 17.

On October 19, the Sun in Libra will be forming an inconjunct aspect to Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus.  Inconjuncts are rather irritating aspects because the two planets involved are definitely not on the same page and there is always some type of adjustment required.  The Sun inconjunct Uranus brings a strong yearning for excitement and freedom, but we can feel the pressure to make changes.  The rub is that fear, uncertainty, and insecurity can hamper our decision making process. Don't resist the concept of change (that is futile) but try to focus on a single goal instead of making a multitude of massive changes all at once.  It's okay to start with small changes...

The Sun in Libra will also be inconjunct Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces on October 20.  Creativity could suffer on this day in addition to confusion, insecurities and fantasies prevailing in relationships.  Our intuition is not aligned with our ego on this day.  And we will have a tendency to fall for illusions in order to avoid confrontation, which Libra for the most part does not like and tries to avoid. So be very careful on this day...

There is a big day happening astrologically on October 22.  The Sun in Libra's swan song is a square to Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn at 10:15 a.m.  This is the classic power struggle aspect that has a strong theme of control issues emerging.  Intense experiences will occur that trigger deep psychological fears of death or losing control.  Watch out for manipulation, compulsive behavior, obsessions and jealousy to rear their ugly heads.  The most constructive way to deal with this aspect is to sacrifice your need for control so that transformation (Pluto's theme) can occur. I have this aspect natally in my chart, so I am too familiar with it. This energy is amplified because it is occurring in the 29th or anaretic degree.

The Sun will take a deep dive into the fixed water sign of Scorpio at 6:15 p.m. on October 22.  When the Sun is in Scorpio, we have a strong desire to get to the bottom of things.  And we have the determination, passion, courage and perseverance to obtain the truth.  Intensity is the name of the game, but the shadow side of Scorpio is jealousy, resentment and vindictiveness.  Scorpio is a sign of extremes with an all-or-nothing vibe.  This is completely different energy from the previous Sun sign of Libra, which is geared towards compromise and people pleasing. Vive la difference!

On October 24, Mars in Cancer will be forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 26 degrees of Taurus.  It's really nice to see Uranus getting a break after getting clobbered by the Sun a few days earlier.  Mars sextiling Uranus increases our desire for fun and excitement.  It can also attract people who are different and more stimulating.  Sextiles bring opportunities into our lives that we need to take advantage of or we will lose out.  Mars sextiling Cancer can bring someone new into our sphere, but it can signify the chance to break away from relationships that limit your freedom or self-expression.

The Sun and Mercury Make Some Major Moves Before They Enter Scorpio

 

The Sun and Mercury are winding up their time in Libra before they enter Scorpio, but they are both making grand exits.  On October 20, the Sun and Mercury are conjunct in 26 degrees of Libra.  This aspect will cause increased mental stimulation and deliver new perspectives.  It is exactly conjunct my natal Neptune in my 1st house and also conjunct my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio, so I suspect that it will be an enlightening day for me.

Mercury in Libra is exactly squaring Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn on October 20 as well.  The tension of the square could deliver a crisis, but we can be guaranteed of deep thinking and intense interactions.  Be brave on this day and remember that we very well might need to make a psychological choice.

On October 21, the Sun in Libra is squaring Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  I happen to have a natal Sun/Pluto square in my chart in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Leo, so I am all too familiar with the ramifications of this aspect.  Sun squaring Pluto is all about power, control, and assertion, but it also can lead to major transformation if you can get past its potential for manipulative behavior.  Just warning you that this could be a tough day...

On October 22, Mercury enters the fixed water sign of Scorpio until November 10.  When Mercury is in Scorpio, our thoughts and communication are more probing and intense.  We seek to uncover hidden truths and will leave no stone unturned.  Our conversations will be deeper but can also be obsessive and sarcastic.  Scorpio is renowned for its stinger.  But we can be very persuasive and our words are very powerful.  Mercury in Scorpio is also trining Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces on this day.  This can be a very positive influence, as our powers of concentration are strong, as is our attention to detail.  Common sense is readily available and we can make long-term plans.  Quite literally, we are accountable for our actions in a good way.  This can be a very grounding influence.

We have one another prominent aspect featured on October 22.  Venus in Virgo is trining Jupiter in 12 degrees of Taurus.  This is another very positive aspect that tends to bring good cheer, optimism, love, socializing and a penchant for shopping.  After all, it is a meeting of the two benefics.  The only potential downside to this aspect is that Venus is in fall in Virgo, and it can be prone to being somewhat stingy and critical.  Just be mindful of these qualities and we should be just fine.

On October 23, the Sun enters Scorpio and we are officially in Scorpio season.  Our focus shifts to desire, passion and extremes of feeling. We can be very strong-willed now (Scorpio is the fixed water sign, after all) and intensity is the name of the game.  It can also be a time of immense healing and transformation, so be mindful of that.  The shadow side of the Sun in Scorpio is jealousy, vindictiveness and manipulation.  I am sure that you have been warned to never cross a Scorpio or you will live to regret it.  Scorpio can be the most loyal friend in the world but they can also be your worst enemy.  It really is true about the extremes of emotion...

The Sun in Scorpio is trining Saturn in Pisces on October 24.  This is a day of patience, persistence and determination.  Set your goals and you just might find that you can reach them more easily than usual.  Even if you assume added responsibilities on this day, it won't feel stressful.  You might score a promotion, gain recognition for your abilities and wind up feeling better about yourself.  This aspect is a boon for higher self-esteem.

The Sun and Venus are Cazimi in Libra Before Entering Scorpio, Saturn Stations Direct and a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio

 

Scorpio season is upon us and the eclipses are coming!  Hang on for a bumpy ride but don't forget the paradox of this upcoming set of eclipses: LET GO.  Be open to the massive changes that this eclipse will bring. This is especially true because the first eclipse occurs in the sign of Scorpio and it is a South Node Eclipse, which is all about releasing the past and what no longer serves our best interests.  As a Scorpio, I can tell you first hand that fixed signs (Scorpio, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius) are extremely resistant to change unless they are the ones initiating it.

Before the actual Solar Eclipse happens on October 25, 2022 in 2 degrees of Scorpio, we have a lot of other planetary action taking place.  On October 22, the Sun and Venus are conjunct in 29 degrees of Libra.  It is being called a Cazimi and is a really big deal because these two planets are so close that they are in the heart of the Sun.  It is literally like a kiss.  Venus will not be losing its power in this Cazimi due to the fact that Venus rules Libra.  It will be setting up a new eight-year emotional cycle which has a theme of harmony and partnership.  This is very different from a Cazimi in the sign of Scorpio, which has more of a focus on the self.  I am mentioning this because even though I am a Scorpio, I have a Libra Ascendant and Venus is the ruler of my chart.  And this conjunction just happens to hit my Neptune in Libra.

Save the day of October 23 with all of the planetary action that will be going down.  The day starts off with Saturn stationing direct in 18 degrees of Aquarius.  Saturn has been retrograde since June 4th, so we can expect to see big changes in the structures of our lives.  I am sure that most of us have felt held back and that things are taking longer than they should to happen.  When a planet is stationing, either direct or retrograde, its energy is intensified for about five days before and after the date of the station.  So we can anticipate that the structures in our lives are primed to experience the changes we have been needing.  

On October 23, we are also officially launching the season of Scorpio.  Venus enters Scorpio at 3:52 a.m., where it stays until November 16.  And the Sun enters Scorpio at 6:36 a.m.  Venus is not especially comfortable in Scorpio, like it was in Libra.  Venus in Scorpio is extremely passionate and intense.  It's bound to be emotional, as it is an all or nothing sign.  The Sun in Scorpio represents a time when we focus on getting to the bottom of matters and transforming our lives.  Nothing is superficial now and secrets will be revealed.

The Solar Eclipse in 2 degrees of Scorpio occurs at 6:49 a.m.  This is showtime, folks, and we need to let go and accept the changes that are coming down the pike.  As I mentioned earlier, it is a South Node Eclipse because the South Node of the Moon is in 13 degrees of Scorpio, and this represents our collective past and what needs to be released in terms of toxicity.  Other themes that will arise with a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio are trust, betrayal issues and big money. Don't forget that Scorpio is the sign of other people's money.  Full disclosure and secrets will come to light as a result of this eclipse.  I am a bit apprehensive about this eclipse because the South Node in Scorpio is conjunct my natal Saturn in Scorpio and the eclipse is conjunct my Mercury in Scorpio.

Uranus in 17 degrees of Taurus is also conjunct the North Node in Taurus, so we are probably going to be feeling a push towards a new financial system.  The Moon in Scorpio is inconjunct Jupiter in 0 degrees of Aries, indicating that we will probably need to make some adjustments in our expectations for the future.  The eclipse is also conjunct Venus in 2 degrees of Scorpio, further emphasizing the potential for changes in love and finances.  Mercury in Libra is also inconjunct Neptune in 23 degrees of Pisces on the Solar Eclipse, underscoring the potential for revealing hidden secrets.  And let's not forget the ruler of Scorpio, the planet Pluto, which is now direct.  Pluto is in 26 degrees of Capricorn, and is still within the orb of a square with this eclipse.  This continues the theme of secrets, espionage and big reveals.  

I would also like to bring up that the last time we had a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio was on October 23, 2014.  It was in 0 degrees of Scorpio and many of us could find ourselves revisiting themes or paths that we began back then.  Ukraine had a revolution in 2014 that culminated in the ousting of the pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych.  I don't think that is a coincidence that Ukraine is involved in another war with Russia in 2022.  

The Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on October 25 represents a fresh start but that involves releasing part of the past and a big purge.  I cannot emphasize this enough.  We all want change, but letting go of the security of the past can be downright scary.  We need to be strong, though and move forward. Our desires will be strong and I suspect that money and values will factor heavily in this astrological climate.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars and Pluto Face Off with a Square and the Sun Enters Scorpio

Scorpio season is about to commence on October 23, but we get a little preview of that Scorpio energy on October 22 when the ruling planets of Scorpio, Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn, form an exact square in 24 degrees of their respective signs. 

What does Mars squaring Pluto feel like?  It is very powerful and aggressive energy that can bring out our anger and desire to gain control over others or situations.  It’s got a very motivational vibe.  Disagreements are bound to crop up, but it does represent an opportunity to release tension and make changes.  It can also manifest as our enemies appearing to be stronger.  The trick to surviving and thriving with this aspect is to NOT try too hard to be in control because that can definitely backfire on us.  We need to be mindful of the fact that change is inevitable but we don’t have to alienate everyone in the process. I know, it’s easier said than done…

On October 23, the Sun enters the fixed water sign of Scorpio.  Whoever coined the phrase “Still waters run deep” must have either been a Scorpio or known one.  I confess that I love this time of year because I am a November Scorpio.  When the Sun is in Scorpio, nothing is superficial or light.  I recently had a personal astrology consultation and my astrologer told me flat out that Scorpios don’t do fluff!  Truer words were never spoken!

The Sun transiting the sign of Scorpio denotes a time to dig up what is buried and bring it to the surface for transformation, which is Scorpio’s credo for living. It’s time to face our fears and demons but we will have the emotional courage and tenacity to do it.  Depth, intimacy and extremes of feeling run rampant while the Sun is in Scorpio. We are headed for a time when we will be feeling provocative, passionate, and strong-willed with a heaping dose of major intensity.  There is definitely a shadow side to Scorpio and it entails jealousy, resentment, vindictiveness and manipulation.  Believe me, you don’t want to get on the bad side of a Scorpio, because those stingers can hurt.  Scorpio is an incredibly loyal friend, but it is also the most dangerous enemy in the world because a Scorpio doesn’t forget or forgive easily.

If this energy sounds too heavy for you to bear, rejoice in the knowledge that the two Greater Benefic Planets (Venus and Jupiter) are joining in a supportive sextile on October 28.  Relief is in sight! Venus in 22 degrees of Sagittarius is forming an exact sextile to Jupiter in 22 degrees of Aquarius; this aspect will ease the tensions that have been building recently and create a party vibe that inspires us to feel happier and share our good feelings with others.  Sagittarius and Aquarius are very social, extroverted signs, so make the most of this feel-good transit.  Don’t be afraid to reach out and get in touch with people.
