Jupiter in Cancer Has a Busy Week with Oppositions from the Capricorn Planets

 

The month of January 2026 is proving to be quite active astrologically.  On January 9, the Sun and Mars are conjunct in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a perfect day to set new intentions and make commitments as motivation is in high gear with Mars in the sign of its exaltation.  Determination is strong, as is self-discipline.

But retrograde Jupiter in Cancer is really the star this week as it faces oppositions from the Sun, Mars, Venus and Mercury in Capricorn. Venus in Capricorn is opposing Jupiter in 20 degrees of Cancer on January 9, which can have a way of offsetting our self-discipline. Let's face it, these two planets love to party and have a good time.  This aspect occurs almost six hours after the Sun-Mars conjunction at 6:41 a.m., so I would advise you to take care of business before 12:35 p.m. so that you can enjoy the weekend with some socializing.

The Sun in Capricorn will be opposing Jupiter in 20 degrees of Cancer on January 10.  This will bring more opportunities for success, good fortune and happiness.  Just be mindful of a tendency to overdo it with destructive behaviors like gambling or addiction.

Mars in Capricorn will also be opposing Jupiter in Cancer on January 10.  We should notice an increase in our self-confidence but we still need to be careful not to take too many risks, especially financial ones.  And don't promise more than you can deliver.  It is okay to set your goals and channel your enthusiasm, which should be high.

On January 14, Mercury in Capricorn will be opposing Jupiter in 19 degrees of Cancer.  This can manifest in big ideas and plans.  Communication is important as our words have power now.  We want to share our wisdom and beliefs.  But the opposition does warn us to guard against excessive optimism and impractical plans.  We could be inclined to boast and create misunderstandings.  Mercury is out of bounds until January 15, so it is still functioning like a retrograde planet.  Try to blend enthusiasm with practicality.

We have quite a lineup of planets in Capricorn this month that is very goal-oriented so make the most of it.  In next week's blog I will be writing about the New Moon in Capricorn on January 18 which will put the final touches on Capricorn season before we embrace the futuristic energy of Aquarius.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Week of Oppositions, Saturn Moving Direct and Venus Entering Libra

 

We can all heave a collective sigh of relief now that the eclipses are over, but there is still plenty of planetary action happening in November.  On November 3, the Sun in Jupiter is forming an exact opposition with Jupiter in 10 degrees of Taurus.  As oppositions go, this one isn't bad.  It's a pretty nice vibe that can actually generate quite a bit of productivity.  It will make us very optimistic, which could make us overly idealistic.  Just be mindful of that tendency...

Venus in Virgo is opposing Neptune in 25 degrees of Virgo on November 3 and this opposition can be a little more problematic.  Oppositions tend to create a push/pull energy as we need to accept the power of imbalance.  Venus opposing Neptune is bound to be quite emotional and it can manifest in some disappointments as we might be inclined to engage in over idealization, which is part of Neptune's trip.

Mark the day of November 4 as another big day with the planets.  Mercury in Scorpio is opposing Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus.  When Mercury is opposing Uranus, we have a strong desire to break free of past notions and concepts.  It also increases the likelihood of unexpected news.  I know, can we take any more sudden news blasts?  There is also the chance for manipulative energy to be enacted.  If you have any planets around 21 degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius, you will feel this aspect acutely.

On November 4 Saturn will finally move direct in 0 degrees of Pisces after having been retrograde since June 17, when it stationed retrograde in 7 degrees of Pisces.  Saturn represents a reality check; scores will be settled and karma will be accounted for.  But please remember that when a planet is stationing its power is intensified for around five days, before and after the actual station.  Saturn is the planet renowned for making us feel stuck and frustrated.  It is going to feel emotionally heavy at this time.  We could very well feel powerless over the structures in our lives now.  Saturn is also in the sign of Pisces, which is the last sign of the zodiac, and one in which it is not particularly comfortable.  Pisces is also associated with being a victim, so I urge everyone to let go of what hasn't been working for you (that is what Saturn retrograde has been trying to teach us) and surrender.  Surrender is a big theme for the sign of Pisces and we need to acknowledge its importance. I honestly believe that if we can let go, we will find it easier to implement changes and make some progress once Saturn clears its stationary period and picks up full steam. 

We do have a treat in store for us on November 8 when Venus enters Libra.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is definitely in its happy place here.  Venus remains in Libra until December 4.  When Venus is in Libra, we tend to be more social, diplomatic and charming.  Idealism and kindness tend to prevail in relationships. We are also seeking balance in relationships and compromise is easier to achieve. Just be mindful that we are also going to be more attracted to beauty and the arts while Venus is in Libra, and this could lead us to spend more money.  The only other pitfalls with Venus in Libra are indecisiveness and dependency on others.  Be careful not to be too people-pleasing and this should be a very enjoyable transit.

I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, the latest variant of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Taurus Season is in Full Bloom

May is officially here and it finally appears that spring has sprung, so I think that we can safely say it is time to celebrate the season of Taurus until May 20^th.  We still have an upcoming new moon in Taurus on May 15, 2018 and Uranus enters the sign of Taurus on the same day, but more on that later.

The sun in Taurus is a time of plants taking root and it also indicates that we have the strength and tenacity to follow through on projects that we may have started in a half-cocked fashion while the sun was in Aries.  Yes, it can be a time of hard work, but it also a perfect time to delight in the senses and indulge in sensual pleasures because Taurus is ruled by Venus.  The theme of hard work was apparent in the recent full moon in Scorpio on April 29, 2018, when I tweeted:

The sun in Taurus is also an excellent opportunity to do what you need to do make yourself happy.  Sometimes that means saying no and setting some boundaries in relationships. We just need to be mindful not to be too possessive or stubborn because after all, the bull is the symbol for Taurus. While there are no major astrological events until the new moon and Uranus briefly entering Taurus on May 15^th, there are some interesting aspects coming up.  On May 5, 2018, there is a very productive trine between the moon in Capricorn and the Taurus sun.  This energy can be very grounding, but that Capricorn moon is very busy this weekend.  It also squares Mercury in Aries on May 5^th, which can result in some blunt, harsh communications.  And it conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn, which can unearth some deep rooted emotions, obsessions and compulsive behaviors.  Adding to the mix on that day is the fact Mercury in Aries is inconjunct Jupiter in Scorpio, which can definitely lend a tone of irritability to our weekend. On May 6. 2018, that Capricorn moon conjuncts Mars in Capricorn and squares off with Uranus in Aries.  Don’t be surprised if there are sudden angry outbursts.  Tempers could flare that day.

On May 7, 2018, Mercury in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn.  If you have any planets around 20 degrees in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you will feel the effects of this aspect big time.  This could play out as secretive communications and some downright manipulative behavior.  Venus in Gemini is also squaring Neptune in Pisces that day, which fuels the themes of deceit and illusions in relationships and financial matters.  Venus in Gemini is conjunct my moon on that day and Neptune is squaring it, so I am not exactly anticipating a day of total clarity in relationships or finances.

The sun in Taurus is opposing Jupiter in Scorpio on May 8, 2018 in 18 degrees of the respective signs.  This aspect occurs once a year and this year anyone with planets around 18 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel it the most. I am a member of that club, with my sun in 19 degrees of Scorpio.  The big life force energy of the sun is in direct opposition to the bigger, expansive energy of Jupiter as we may find ourselves trying to pull off something really big in terms of achieving our goals.  The thing about Jupiter is that since it loves to do things in a very big way, we may have to watch out for over-enthusiasm, pride, ego blindsiding us and over the top behavior.  It has the potential for overkill on a grand scale.
