A Super Emotionally Charged Full Moon in Scorpio, Mercury Enters Taurus and Pluto Stations Retrograde in Aquarius

 

Away we go with the Merry (?) month of May.  On May 1, we have a super-charged Full Moon in 11 degrees of Scorpio.  Full Moons always raise the emotional ante, but when you have a Full Moon in a water sign, especially Scorpio known for its still waters run deep persona, it can feel off the charts.  Prepare for a massive case of the big feels as it squares Scorpio's ruling planet Pluto in Aquarius  Major secrets could be revealed on this day as we dig deep to leave no stone unturned.

There is a fixed T-square on the Full Moon involving the Sun in Taurus, Pluto in Aquarius and Moon in Scorpio.  T-squares tend to provide so much friction that they motivate us to do something.  Because all of these planets are in fixed signs, we can anticipate stubbornness, demands, high levels of determination and a battle of wills that could be accompanied by manipulation and control tactics.  The saving grace aspect of this Full Moon is the trine between the Moon in Scorpio and Jupiter in Cancer.  This enhances our intuition and empathy.  It provides optimism so that we have more faith and optimism during these challenging times.

Mercury and Chiron are conjunct in 27 degrees of Aries on the Full Moon, indicating a potential for wounding words to surface for the process of healing.  A Full Moon in Scorpio has a strong theme of rebirth and transformation.

There is also a Yod aspect on this Full Moon involving Venus in 8 degrees of Gemini, Saturn in 9 degrees of Aries and the Moon in 11 degrees of Scorpio.  I have a Yod in my natal chart with my Moon in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio and North Node in Capricorn.  Yods have a way of making you feel like a victim and questioning why such bizarre things keep happening to you.  The bottom line is that they require adjustment because Venus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries (which form a supportive sextile that can create opportunities) are inconjunct the Moon in Scorpio.  We are being called on to integrate the open-minded energy of Venus in Gemini with the responsible energy of Saturn in Aries through the emotional depth of the Moon in Scorpio.

Responsibility is a key theme of this Full Moon.  We have two other Yods in this Full Moon.  The South Node in Virgo is inconjunct Saturn in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius, which indicates that we will need to release patterns of perfectionism and self-criticism.  The third Yod involves Saturn in Aries inconjunct the South Node in Virgo and the Moon in Scorpio.  Responsibility, dedication and consistency are highlighted.  Use the intensity of your emotions as the fuel to transform.  It will be difficult but we need to persevere.  This Full Moon is conjunct my Saturn in Scorpio in my first house, so it really hits home for me.

This will be the most powerful Full Moon of 2026 so far, but if we have the courage to face whatever comes our way, we can heal and be reborn.  Remember that Venus in Gemini is sextiling Saturn in Aries, which is a blessing for us to stay the course and heal our relationships. This is by no means a fluffy, feel-good Full Moon but it can get us to the other side.

Mercury enters Taurus on May 2 until May 17.  We can look forward to more practical and grounded communication.  Our decision-making should be more stable than when Mercury was in Aries and we can engage in sound financial planning.  We might be a little stubborn though because Taurus is fixed earth.  That is the shadow side of Mercury in Taurus.

Pluto stations retrograde in 5 degrees of Aquarius on May 6 until October 15 when it goes direct in 3 degrees of Aquarius.  It's time to channel our inner phoenix and transform on a deep inner level so that we can implement those changes in the collective.  There can be technological advances and we have the opportunity to reexamine our relationship with power.  Pluto is retrograde every year and it is much more subtle than having Mercury, Saturn, Mars or Venus retrograde.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
