A Cosmic Reprieve This Week as Jupiter in Cancer Receives Some Sextiles from the Sun and Mercury in Taurus

 

It has been a wild ride since the month of May began with a supercharged Full Moon in Scorpio on May 1, Mercury in Taurus squaring Pluto in Aquarius on May 5 and Pluto stationing retrograde in Aquarius on May 6.  But we are getting a bit of a break during the coming week.  I tend to agree with astrologer Rick Levine who said that while May will not be an easy month, we will feel more settled by the end of the month.  And there will be another Full Moon on May 31, so the last week of the month will probably feel even more intense than the beginning.

But since Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer where it currently is, we can be extremely grateful for the two sextiles it receives from the Sun and Mercury in Taurus this week. Remember that sextiles are supportive and create opportunities.  Jupiter represents expansion, growth and good fortune, so we will happily take it.  The first sextile auspiciously occurs on Sunday, May 10, which is Mother's Day.  The Sun in Taurus is sextiling Jupiter in 20 degrees of Cancer, which should bring optimism, generosity and good luck to the day.  It can definitely reduce the risk of family drama.  The Moon will enter Pisces on that afternoon, so we should be feeling more empathetic and compassionate. Opportunities can also arise to enhance our financial situation.  It's a great day to connect with others and pursue our goals.  And let's face it, is a welcome respite after the turbulence that the month of May ushered in with that powerhouse Full Moon in Scorpio on May 1 that had Pluto in Aquarius calling the shots. For me personally, Jupiter will be conjunct my Cancer Midheaven, so I am looking forward to it.  Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and those women who provide nurturing to others.

The good vibes continue on May 13, when Mercury in Taurus is sextiling Jupiter in 20 degrees of Cancer.  This is a real boon for making plans that improve our future.  Legal dealings should run smoothly now too.  Our minds are firing at full capacity to see the big picture and the timing is pitch perfect for important decisions to be made.  It's also favorable for traveling.

The Sun and Mercury have a glorious meet-up in 23 degrees of Taurus on May 14.  Thinking, communication and short distance travel are all emphasized.  We are up for sharing ideas and interacting with our neighbors.  We can expect more mental clarity and insightful breakthroughs.  This conjunction occurs in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, so we could be very practical and focused on issues of material security and finances.  This aspect falls in my 8th house and opposes my Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house, so I have no doubt that money issues will be highlighted for me on this day.  It is also trining my Chiron in Capricorn in my 4th house, so there is a strong potential for healing as well.  

It is looking much brighter this week and calmer before the next round of major planetary changes starts next week with a New Moon in Taurus, Mercury, Mars, Venus and the Sun changing signs.  More on that with next week's post.  Just make the most of these sextiles and that Sun-Mercury conjunction in Taurus.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
