A Lunar Eclipse in Taurus and Venus Trines Uranus

The last eclipse of 2023 is upon us.  On October 28, we have a Lunar Eclipse in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Many of us are still reeling from the Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 14, but as we all know, eclipses come in pairs and here comes the second one.  This Lunar Eclipse has a great deal of fixed energy with the Moon, Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus and the Sun, Mars, Mercury in Scorpio. Views and beliefs are going to remain very firm. I promise you that if you have any planets around 5 degrees of any of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius, you are going to feel this eclipse more acutely than the rest of us.  And with the world in its current state, that is saying something...

What are the themes of this eclipse?  As with any Full Moon, and we all know that Lunar Eclipses are like Full Moons on steroids, emotional volatility is running rampant. Let's hope that all of this highly charged emotion can find an outlet to clear and release.  We also have a preponderance of planets in water: the Sun, Mars, and Mercury in Scorpio, and Neptune and Saturn in Pisces. Mars in Scorpio is playing a pivotal role in this eclipse.  It will be instrumental in digging up lots of secrets, possibly about big money.  Mars in Scorpio is right at home and is very feisty. It is forming an exact opposition to Jupiter in 11 degrees of Taurus, and this can add another layer of intensity.  Mars aspecting Jupiter amplifies old angers, hurts and grudges.  And Jupiter has a vibe of self-righteousness while feeling justified about it.  There is strong potential for nasty energy to prevail and violence to emerge. Mercury in Scorpio will be exactly conjunct Mars on October 29, which will only fuel the provocative and angry vibe.  Mercury in Scorpio siding with Mars in Scorpio and opposing Jupiter in Taurus is pretty fierce energy and has a very sharp tongue.  I have a natal Mercury in Scorpio, and believe me, it qualifies as a lethal weapon.  Mars and Mercury in Scorpio are also conjunct my natal Saturn in Scorpio in my 1st house, so I suspect that I am in for some frustration and I will undoubtedly shoot off my mouth during this eclipse.

Another feature of this Lunar Eclipse is a configuration called a Mystic Rectangle.  A Mystic Rectangle occurs when there are two trines, two sextiles and two oppositions with the planets.  Venus in 18 degrees of Virgo is trining Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus while the Sun in 5 degrees of Scorpio is trining Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces.  The planets in opposition involve the Sun in 5 degrees of Scorpio and the Moon in 5 degrees of Taurus, and Mars in 11 degrees of Scorpio opposing Jupiter in 11 degrees of Taurus.  And finally, the sextiles, are Neptune in 25 degrees of Pisces sextiling Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus and Saturn in 0 degrees of Pisces sextiling the Moon in 5 degrees of Taurus.  The theme of a Mystic Rectangle is balance and integration.  The trick is to deal with the oppositions consciously.  This will definitely not be a quiet eclipse, but hopefully it will release some much-needed steam so that we can move forward.  If you have a Mystic Rectangle in your natal chart, it indicates that the individual has a calling in life.  This can actually be the saving grace aspect of the Lunar Eclipse.  

On October 31 (Halloween), Venus in Virgo has an exact trine to Uranus in 21 degrees. Retrograde Venus in Leo was squaring Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus on August 9 and Venus direct in Leo was squaring retrograde in 22 degrees of Taurus on September 29, 2023.  These two squares undoubtedly created a great deal of tension and friction in relationships, especially the first hit when Venus was retrograde.  Venus trining Uranus gives us the urge to try something new in love or in our social life. It has a certain restless vibe about it; I speak from experience because I have natal Venus in Scorpio trining Uranus in Cancer.  And they are both retrograde, to boot.  It can also favor shopping, creativity and generate a financial windfall.  I would like to think that with Venus now trining Uranus, we can sort out any relationship issues that cropped up with the two squares.  If anyone broke up during them, there could be some reconciliations afoot...

I just want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a peaceful and enlightening Lunar Eclipse.  Tempers could flare but try to stay safe and engage in breathing deeply before taking any actions you might later regret.  The combination of the Sun, Mars and Mercury in Scorpio opposing the Moon and Jupiter in Taurus is bound to be quite loud.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Total Lunar Eclipse in Taurus That Changes Everything

 

The games have begun with this eclipse season.  We had our first one last week, a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on October 25 when I tweeted:

Today is the big #SolarEclipse in Scorpio that has a strong theme of releasing what is no longer serving our best interests in order to create space for a rebirth. The conjunction to Venus in Scorpio pertains to love and finances. #astrology

As I mentioned previously, I was a bit concerned about this one because it conjuncted my natal Neptune and Mercury.  On October 28 I developed a sore throat and took a COVID test on the 29th.  It was negative, but I started coughing and feeling worse the next day, so I took another COVID test on October 31.  This one was positive and it is was not the kind of news I wanted to hear.  I had COVID back in April 2020 and have been ultra-diligent about wearing a mask when I go out, so I have no idea how I got it.   I was up to date on my vaccinations  and boosters, too. But Mars is retrograde in Gemini and is squaring Neptune, which is currently in my 6th house.  And Saturn in Aquarius has been squaring my Sun in Scorpio, which has literally made me feel like I am being pummeled. I immediately called my doctor's office to see if I could obtain a prescription for Paxlovid.  I started taking it on Monday night in addition to another pill for my cough.  I am hoping it does the trick because I certainly don't fancy the thought of another six-week siege with COVID.

The next eclipse (they come in pairs, you know) occurs on November 8, 2022 in 16 degrees of Taurus.  This one has all of the earmarks to be even more of a game changer than the Solar Eclipse in Scorpio.  It is conjunct Uranus in 16 degrees of Taurus and the North Node in 13 degrees of Taurus.  A Lunar Eclipse conjunct Uranus is bound to bring massive changes and upheavals. It is a North Node Eclipse which has a theme of endings that create space for our future collective destiny.  It is rife with the issues of crisis, potential catharsis and major shifts.  It is a literal breakdown of the old order for permanent changes.

There is a tremendous energy of fixed energy involved in this eclipse to boot. The Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Scorpio and Mercury is opposing Uranus in Taurus, which can deliver shocking news and shine a light on some major secrets.  It's a bit disconcerting that the United States is having its midterm election on this day. Don't forget that Venus is also in Scorpio and opposes Uranus in Taurus on November 5, which can be very tough on relationships, bringing power struggles and this vibe is prime for breakups.  The South Node is in Scorpio, what we need to release, and on November 2, Venus was conjunct the South Node, which could have brought some kind of loss.  On November 5, the Sun in Scorpio will be conjunct the South Node, which could bring news about more people transitioning who have made a major difference in our lives.  And on November 6, Mercury in Scorpio conjuncts the South Node, further reinforcing the theme of change and transformation.  If it sounds like I am beating a dead horse with this release theme, I am just telling it like it is. The planets aren't lying.

Adding to this fixed energy is Saturn in 18 degrees of Aquarius which is still in orb of squaring Uranus in 16 degrees of Taurus.  This can bring earthquakes, but many of us will experience it as frustration and breakdowns.  It is the past versus the future and control versus freedom.  I suppose the most constructive way to interpret it is to view it as the breakdown to breakthrough.  I read somewhere that we should be able to take responsibility for our own freedom and I kind of like that theory.

This has been an emotionally intense week and I suspect it will continue for the rest of Scorpio season.  So don't be surprised if you find yourself crying a lot these days; it's a big part of the emotional release.  The themes of this Lunar Eclipse will involve the  Scorpio Sun's issues of power, debts and secrets and the Taurus Moon's issues of security, safety and money.  All of these things can change in the blink of an eye.  I think that we all need to be ready to accept that whatever happens this month will permanently alter our lives.  Something will end and I would also encourage you to think back to the Solar Eclipse on April 30 in 10 degrees of Taurus.  What was happening in your life back then?  Did you start something new which is either seeing fruition or are you deciding to cut your losses and walk away if it hasn't been working out?

I can't completely ignore the fact that retrograde Mars in 25 degrees of Gemini is squaring Neptune in 22 degrees of Pisces, which can create a build-up of energy that isn't going to go anywhere yet.  It is draining our sense of clarity.  This is a mutable mash that can find us being mentally scattered and it too is a player in this Lunar Eclipse.

This Lunar Eclipse in Taurus is opposing my Sun in Scorpio and squaring my Mars in Aquarius.  In terms of endings, I certainly hope that my latest bout with COVID will be a sense of closure as a result of this eclipse.  My COVID isn't as debilitating as the first time, but it has certainly been physically and emotionally draining.

A Powerfully Transformative Lunar Eclipse in Taurus and Here Comes the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius

 

Eclipse season is officially here with the arrival of a Lunar Eclipse in 27 degrees of Taurus on November 19.  I always tell my clients that eclipses are like Full or New Moons on steroids, and this one is no exception to that rule.  It would not be an understatement to say that this has been one super-emotional week.  The Sun is in Scorpio, which is fixed water and those still waters run deep.  With the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus opposing that Scorpio Sun, we are being challenged to clear out our psychological garbage to get to the joy that the Taurus Moon promises.  If you have been contemplating therapy, this is a prime time to undertake that process. Don’t forget that Taurus is ruled by Venus, which is all about love, pleasure and material security.  And the Sun in Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, which is all about transformation and power.

I have been hearing from many of my clients that they have been experiencing emotional turmoil for the past week.  Deep down we all know that change is inevitable, and that is the theme behind this year’s prevailing aspect of Saturn in Aquarius squaring Uranus in Taurus.  We had the first hit on February 17, the second one on June 14 and the final will occur on December 24.  Both Saturn and Uranus were triggered on November 17, when I tweeted:

There is a very volatile vibe present today with Mars in Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus. Tempers could easily flare so be careful as this is setting us up for the upcoming #LunarEclipse on Friday. #astrology

The Lunar Eclipse in Taurus has strong themes of security, stability, finances, possessions, loyalty and trust.  And all of this is occurring against a backdrop of change and uncertainty.  Both the Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus are involved in a T-Square with Jupiter in 24 degrees of Aquarius.  This configuration calls upon us to be more open-minded as the theme of freedom is blown up.  Don’t forget that Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches.  Mercury is in 22 degrees of Scorpio, so we can expect that some more shocking news will be revealed.  But don’t count out the trine between Venus in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus to deliver some positive breakthroughs.

On November 21, the Sun will enter the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius at 9:34 p.m.  Not a minute too soon, if you ask this Scorpio.  I know that I love Scorpio season, but every year I say this that it can be exhausting after all of this deep diving into the darker side of ourselves and life.  When the Sun is in Sagittarius, ruled by jovial Jupiter, we will all feel more optimistic. Life will become more adventurous too, as opposed to the arduous nature of the Sun in Scorpio, ruled by the intense planet of Pluto.  Our desires will switch from wanting one-on-one bonds to reaching out of our inner circle and connecting with something larger than us.  It is a time to nurture our faith and vision for the future. Let the good times roll…

Mercury, the planet of communication, is about to join the Sun in the sign of Sagittarius on November 24.  It’s only there until December 13, so make the most of it.  Mercury transiting the sign of Sagittarius expands our minds so that we have more perception of the big picture.  It’s a big change from the laser-like focus of Mercury in Scorpio.  Our ideals will become very important now, but the details not so much.  Mercury in Sagittarius is intrinsically more optimistic and since it is in a mutable sign, it gives us permission to change our minds.  After the recent cluster of fixed planets in Scorpio and the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus, this will be a huge relief. Just be mindful of the fact that Mercury in Sagittarius can be quite blunt, and we should be fine.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. The Delta strain of the virus is very serious and we need to remain vigilant with our masks, even if we are fully vaccinated.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
