A New Moon in Cancer and Venus Enters Leo

 

The first New Moon of summer is upon us.  On July 5, we have a New Moon in 14 degrees of Cancer that promises to be extremely emotional, as only a water Moon can be.  And we have had Saturn and Neptune station retrograde in Pisces in the past week, adding to the water works. Saturn stationed retrograde in 19 degrees of Pisces on June 29, inspiring me to post:

What are the themes of a New Moon in Cancer?  Hopefully we can set some intentions to nurture and support our loved ones while also engaging in some massive self-care.  Although there are no exact aspects to the New Moon in Cancer, we do have Mars in Taurus forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 19 degrees of Pisces.  This is a very positive aspect that will give us the energy, endurance and determination to succeed at whatever we undertake.  It's a perfect complement to a New Moon because it encourages us to plot a course of action in an efficient manner.  And patience is easier to come by, which I think that all of us could use in these challenging times.  Our powers of persuasion are ramped up a notch to boot.

On July 6, Venus in Cancer will be squaring Chiron in 23 degrees of Aries.  This aspect occurs at 2:33 a.m., so I am including it as the New Moon in Cancer will be colored by it.  It can bring discomfort, complications and resurrect deep pain or loss in order to instigate some major healing.  

There is more water energy at play on July 10 when the Sun in 19 degrees of Cancer trines Saturn in 19 degrees of Pisces.  I am particularly invested in this aspect because my Midheaven is in 19 degrees of Cancer and it triggers a Grand Water Trine with my Sun in 19 degrees of Scorpio.  This aspect is associated with responsibility, patience, persistence and determination.  There is no escaping Saturn's influence these days, that's for sure.  It's possible to get some recognition now for our hard work, though.  It is extremely favorable for initiating constructive changes to the structures of our lives. Mental discipline and concentration are very strong now.

Venus leaves Cancer and moves into Leo on July 11 until August 4.  Venus in Leo is characterized by big romance, drama and gestures of generosity and flamboyance.  This is definitely not a shrinking violet Venus.  There is a strong ego investment in our love life, as well as a of luxury. We want to be adored now. The urge to spend is rife, so watch those credit cards.  But Venus in Leo is also creative, warm-hearted and joyful energy.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Venus in Leo is a tendency towards excessiveness, arrogance and attention-seeking behavior.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Saturn and Neptune Retrograde in Pisces While Mercury Zips into Leo

 

Summer is officially here and that means we are getting deeper into retrograde season. Pluto stationed retrograde in Aquarius on May 2. This coming week Saturn and Neptune will join the retrograde party in the sign of Pisces.  Saturn stations retrograde in 19 degrees of Pisces on June 29 until November 15, when it stations direct in 12 degrees of Pisces.

Saturn retrograde is a time for reflecting on boundaries and structures. It is also asking us how we can be more responsible for our lives. We need to grow up and engage in some serious adulting because our karma is catching up with us.  But if you have already been doing the hard work, Saturn can bring some well-deserved rewards.  Saturn retrograde can be a major reality check as it tests our sense of commitment and ability to work hard. Saturn will be testing our patience and we need to accept that there very well could be some delays in our progress.  Don't rush anything while Saturn is retrograde or start new projects; it is better to  continue the work that you have already been engaged in.  We might need to pivot a bit in our foundations.  That is okay because Saturn is, after all, the Great Teacher. Lessons are part of its plan.  Saturn retrograde in the mutable water sign of Pisces can also indicate a period of spiritual grounding.  Saturn was last retrograde in Pisces from June 17 through November 4, 2023, so think back to what was playing out for you back then. Some people might actually benefit during Saturn retrograde as hidden enemies could be revealed.  Retrograde periods always involve the re words: review, reassess.  Realism rules when Saturn is retrograde, so don't be afraid of it and don't let any temporary depression get to you.

Mercury in Cancer is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 25 degrees of Taurus on June 29 too. We could be experiencing some very vivid dreams that provide big reveals. Boatloads of creativity, inspiration and spiritual pursuits are also possible on this day.

Neptune stations retrograde in 29 degrees of Pisces on July 2 and remains retrograde until December 7 when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune retrograde is extremely subtle.  Some of us might even feel like the fog is lifting as we reconsider our dreams and sense of idealism.  Our nightly dreams could actually be easier to remember and interpret while Neptune is retrograde.

Mercury leaves the cardinal water sign of Cancer on July 2 and enters the fixed fire sign of Leo until July 25. When Mercury is in Leo, our thinking and communication are more confident and expressive.  We are speaking from the heart in a loud and clear manner.  We can also expect lots of laughter and witty banter.  And our creative juices are flowing.  

Venus in Cancer is forming a delightful trine to Saturn in Pisces on July 2 which is extremely favorable for relationships and finances.  Any problems in existing relationships can be resolved amicably now. It's also a nice vibe for shopping as the potential for bargains exists.

But on July 3, Mercury in Leo is opposing retrograde Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius.  This can play out as a battle of ideas, featuring mind control, manipulation and threats. Power struggles are likely and arguments could be part of the scenery too.  For those of us who live in the United States, it is like the fireworks for the 4th of July arrive a day early.  Try to channel this energy into problem-solving for the transformation that we are all undergoing.

Neptune Stations Retrograde, Venus Squares Uranus and a Full Moon in Capricorn

 

Neptune in Pisces is joining Saturn in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn at the retrograde party on June 30.  It stations retrograde in 27 degrees of Pisces and will station direct in 24 degrees of Pisces on December 6, 2023. Neptune is the planet associated with spirituality, creativity, addiction, redemption, escapism and disillusionment.  When it is retrograde, it actually might be easier for many of us to pierce the veil of illusion and see the truth more clearly.  We seem to have no problem ignoring reality when Neptune is direct, ironically.  Neptune is also in the third decan, which is the Scorpio decan.  This simply means that we are more psychic, emotional and in a better place to transform our creativity and eliminate negative thinking.  It is also represents a fabulous opportunity to engage in some self-care.  Bring it on, I say!

I am a Scorpio and this Neptune retrograde transit will be trining my Venus and Ceres in Scorpio as well as my Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer. So I have my own Grand Trine in Water in play for the next few months. If you have any planets in the late degrees of the water signs, you too can benefit greatly from this Neptune retrograde.

Neptune is a very slow-moving planet and the last time it was in Pisces was from 1847 through 1861.  Neptune was discovered in 1846.  Many changes occurred during this period: the United States entered the Civil War as the issue of slavery tore the country apart, photography became more mainstream and popular and chloroform was used as anesthesia for Queen Victoria when she gave birth to her children in 1853 and 1857.  It was also used for dental procedures.  Neptune entered Pisces in April 2011 and will leave Pisces in 2026.  I think it is fair to say that we will continue to see shifts in creativity, healing, spirituality and idealism.

We also have Mercury in Cancer trining Saturn in 7 degrees of Pisces on June 30.  This transit will help us get organized and makes it easier for us to pay attention to details. It favors making commitments, signing contracts and taking care of family matters.  Practical results can be obtained if we make the effort now.

Venus in Leo is starting to slow down for its own upcoming retrograde on July 22.Venus actually entered its retrograde shadow on June 19.  Venus will station retrograde in 28 degrees of Leo on June 22 and will remain retrograde until September 3 when it stations direct in 12 degrees of Leo.  But on July 2, Venus in Leo will be squaring Uranus in 21 degrees of Taurus.  On June 26, Mars in Leo squared Uranus in Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

Mars and Venus have been dancing together in Leo but they are starting to separate and Mars will enter Virgo on July 10.  When Venus in Leo squares Uranus in Taurus, we can anticipate unexpected changes and directions in love and finances. We could be feeling restless to have our desires met.  It's possible to meet someone new, but I wouldn't count on it lasting given the nature of Uranus.  But it certainly can wake us up.

The last time Venus was retrograde in Leo was from July 31 through September 6, 2015.  I encourage you to reflect back on that period and see if anything resonates for you.  Love, finances and values will be entering a period of reassessment for all of us.  During that time, I offered a Venus Retrograde reading which was quite popular.  I have decided to offer it again this year and it will be available from now through August for $30.  Just email me at lindasim54@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter to request the Venus Retrograde reading.  I will look at where Venus is transiting your natal and progressed charts during its retrograde period. It could be hitting some sensitive spots and it always helps to be prepared for what is coming.

On July 3, we have a Super Full Moon in 11 degrees of Capricorn.  The Moon will be very close to the earth and highly visible. The Moon will look very big.  Emotions will come to a head regarding issues of power and government.  This Full Moon can indeed shine a light on control issues.  Capricorn is a sign that likes to achieve and on this day, the Moon in Capricorn will be trining Jupiter in 9 degrees of Taurus, affording us the opportunity to build for the future. The Moon is also forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 7 degrees of Pisces, enhancing the theme of responsibility in a good way.  If you have opportunities present themselves to you, by all means act on them.  The most challenging piece of this Full Moon, aside from its opposition to the Sun in Cancer, is that the Moon also opposes Mercury in Cancer.  This is where the angry words could come up. And the Moon in Capricorn is squaring Chiron in 19 degrees of Aries, which can trigger old wounds.  The bottom line is that we have a lot of cardinal energy at play here with the Sun and Mercury in Cancer, Moon in Capricorn and Chiron in Aries.  Cardinal planets love to initiate action, so this should prove to be a high energy day.  And on July 4, the Moon in Capricorn will be conjunct Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn, which can add another layer of compulsion or obsession.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine.  If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
