Aries Season Ramps Up as Venus Enters Aries and a Total Solar Eclipse in Aries

 

We are deep in the heart of Aries season, and if you aren't already feeling it with the Sun and Mercury retrograde in Aries, fasten your seatbelt because on April 5, Venus will leave the dreamy and placid water sign of Pisces to move into Aries until April 29.  When Venus is in Aries, love is more spontaneous, direct, and bold.  We are drawn to the thrill of the chase as passion and ardor take center stage.  And we can become impatient much more easily.

Venus in Aries will sextile Pluto in Aquarius on April 6.  Isn't it funny how all of these planets are meeting up with Pluto in Aquarius these days?  Venus sextiling Pluto is a quite a bit easier to take than a square, opposition or inconjunct, but it will still definitely deepen and intensity love.  Obsession is possible too, because that is the way these two planets act when they get together.  Existing relationships can take on a more profound level and our spirituality can be heightened.

The next big hit of Aries energy occurs on April 8 with the Total Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries.  This is really a major astrological event; we haven't had a total solar eclipse since August 21, 2017 in 29 degrees of Leo.  If you are old enough to remember, think back to April 8, 2005 because we had a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Aries on that day.  Some of the same issues could be triggered for you.

Solar Eclipses are like New Moons on steroids and their effects can be felt for up to three months before and up to one year after they occur.  A Solar Eclipse in Aries has strong themes of new beginnings, claiming our inner authority, embarking on new adventures and finding the courage to take risks while being in the moment. Chiron is in 19 degrees of Aries on the Solar Eclipse, so it is exactly conjunct the Sun and Moon, which makes it a major player.  We could develop a major awareness of our wounds and victim consciousness, especially with retrograde Mercury in 25 degrees of Aries so close to the eclipse.  Mercury retrograde does have a way of making us review old stuff.  I don't particularly enjoy mentioning this, but Chiron in Aries also has a way of bringing gun violence: both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were killed when Chiron was in Aries in 1968.  Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, which does have a lot to do with aggression.  This is just a cautionary note that with Mercury and Chiron in the mix for the eclipse, we could hear some news about violence.  I certainly hope that it doesn't happen, but we might need to be prepared for anything.

Obviously this eclipse will impact everyone, but who will feel it the most?  If you have any cardinal planets or points (Ascendant, Midheaven, Imum Coeli, and Nodes of the Moon) in 16-22 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you are going to feel this one big time.  Once again, I am right in the line of astrological fire.  My Ascendant is in 16 degrees of Libra, my Imum Coeli (cusp of the 4th house) is in 19 degrees of Capricorn and my Midheaven is in 19 degrees of Cancer.  Astrologer Jessica Adams has even said that if you have anything in your chart at 19 degrees, your chart will be activated by this eclipse.  And in addition to my cardinal placements, my Sun is in 19 degrees of Scorpio.  What is the best way to cope with all of this astrological intensity generated during the eclipse?  I tend to agree with Jessica that if you have do have planets or points activated on the Solar Eclipse, try not to make any major decisions on that day until more is revealed.  And let's face it, eclipses have a way of delivering big reveals.  The day of April 8 should be a newsworthy day, to say the least.

On April 10, Mars and Saturn are conjunct in 14 degrees of Pisces.  Normally we don't associate good times when Mars and Saturn are aligning and some might even interpret a conjunction in Pisces as indicators of military action at sea.  But we can always take the high road and utilize this configuration to apply it to a disciplined spiritual practice.  I would definitely like to sign up for that interpretation.

The Sun and Mercury will be conjunct on April 11 in 22 degrees of Aries.  Despite Mercury being retrograde, this aspect should generate lots of communication, mental alertness, curiosity and adaptability. Big ideas could be flowing on this day.

In the meantime, hang in there with this Mercury retrograde until April 25 (it's been quite crazy so far) and ride the wave of intensity that the month of April is delivering.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. It's Getting Personal as Mercury, the Sun and Venus Make Some Major Moves This Week

 

Well, we have survived the first Full Moon in the month of August on August 1, when I posted on Twitter:

This coming week, the personal planets of the Sun, Mercury and Venus are getting a lot of action.  On August 4, Mercury in 8 degrees of Virgo enters its retrograde shadow period. Mercury doesn't officially retrograde until August 23 when it stations at 21 degrees of Virgo, but it is starting to slow down and on August 4 it enters its retrograde shadow because it hits the degree where it will station direct on September 15.  Be prepared for things to get a little wonky in terms of communication and transportation.  If you think it feels like Mercury retrograde in terms of delays, misunderstandings or missed messages, you are not imagining it.  Nobody really likes Mercury retrograde, but it is a fact of life and being forewarned is being forearmed.  The other end of the Mercury retrograde occurs on September 30 when Mercury clears its retrograde shadow in 21 degrees of Virgo.

The Sun in Leo is squaring Jupiter in 14 degrees of Taurus on August 6.  This aspect can be a mixed bag, as aspects to Jupiter, even the challenging ones likes squares and oppositions, are never all bad.  Jupiter is the planet that likes to expand whatever it touches and is associated with good fortune and luck.  The Sun is planet that represents our life force and ego.  When these two planets get together, we literally can have too much of a good thing as hubris, being full of oneself, overly optimistic and the concept of our eyes being bigger than our stomach can prevail.  So yet, it's possible to gain weight on this day if we overindulge. We might come off to others as haughty and humility is Missing in Action.  We have a tendency to bite off more than we can chew.  There is a strong theme of going overboard in our actions and partying too hard.  But the more positive side of the Sun squaring Jupiter is that we can utilize its energy to get centered and be more magnanimous to others by sharing our wisdom.  Jupiter loves wisdom and the Sun in Leo can be very generous.  Try to harness the positive traits so that our ego is more balanced and in control in a good way.  It can be a day of giving back if we work it right.

On August 9, retrograde Venus in Leo is squaring Uranus in 22 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can challenge the stability of relationships via unexpected events or urges. We will probably experience a need for more freedom or excitement.  Don't be afraid to try to something new in relationships.  Venus squaring Uranus can also trigger some impulse purchases, so watch those credit cards on this day.

Mercury in Virgo is forming a delightful trine to Jupiter in 14 degrees of Taurus on August 9th as well. This is an extremely favorable aspect that makes learning fun, encourages optimism and can be the messenger of very good news.  It is a perfect time to make plans for the future and to travel.   

The 9th of August has some complex dynamics going down. While some might be apprehensive about the Venus-Uranus square (and I am in that camp because Venus is conjuncting my natal Pluto in Leo and squaring my natal Sun and Venus in Scorpio), Mercury in Virgo is forming a supportive sextile to my natal Saturn in Scorpio.  Yes, I realize that Jupiter in Taurus is opposing my natal Saturn, but I am trusting in Mercury to see me through the day in good stead.

Here Comes the Sun Activating the Saturn-Uranus Square and Mercury Moves into Gemini

 

The Sun in Taurus is poised to activate the predominant astrological aspect of 2021: Saturn in Aquarius squaring Uranus in Taurus. The old structures are clashing with the new way of life that is on its way.  The pandemic which was ushered in with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn in January 2020 ensured that.  The Saturn-Uranus square occurs three times in 2021: February 17, June 14 and December 24.  But that doesn’t mean its influence can’t be felt throughout the entire year if another planet aspects Saturn and Uranus.  Fasten your seat belts because this week that is going to happen.

On April 30, the Sun in 10 degrees of Taurus is exactly conjunct Uranus in Taurus.  We are going to be feeling restless, rebellious and craving freedom big time.  Change is a major theme of this aspect and we are focused on the future.  It’s not so much of a competitive aspect, but it does make us want to be in control of our own future.  It enhances our intuition and hopefully our sense of empathy for others.  The best possible outcome of this aspect is to use it constructively to help those who are less fortunate. Uranus in Taurus featured predominantly in this week’s Full Moon in Scorpio, inspiring me to tweet on April 27:

The Sun in 13 degrees of Taurus will be squaring Saturn in 13 degrees of Aquarius on May 3.  We all know that squares are challenging aspects, and this one is no exception.  It will present tests of character, frustration at not being able to achieve our goals on our timetable and can leave us feeling depressed, more emotionally sensitive and pessimistic.  We might feel overwhelmed by our responsibilities.  It could be very tempting to take the easy way out, but don’t do it because the lesson of this transit is to channel our patience, determination and strong work ethic.  Think of it as a lesson in creating a new order. If we cut corners and do a slipshod job of handling these issues, there is a strong likelihood that they will come back at a later time and be even more difficult to deal with. Yes, Saturn is the Great Teacher and tests the hell out of us, but it can also reward us when we get it right.  Hold onto that thought for 2021…  

Mercury is leaving the fixed earth sign of Taurus on May 3 and entering its happy place, Gemini for an extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde on May 29.  I say that Mercury is in its happy place because Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, so it is eminently comfortable in these signs.  It’s interesting to note that these are both mutable signs.  Gemini is mutable air and Virgo is mutable earth.

When Mercury is in the sign of Gemini until July 11, we will be more communicative, curious and sociable. We are more inclined to seek superficial knowledge about a wide variety of subjects as opposed to focusing on acquiring a deeper perspective on a specific area.  It’s quite literally a time of having a finger in every pot.  We could also find ourselves more easily distracted, however and our ability to follow through on tasks is hampered.  Try to embrace its energy of being open to different experiences and meeting new people.  Mercury will be in Gemini for over two months, so we have plenty of time and opportunities to sample its diversity.

A Powerful New Moon in Aries and Venus Enters Taurus

We are heavily entrenched in the season of Aries, which became even clearer on April 3 when Mercury entered Aries, joining the Sun, Venus, Ceres and Chiron.  On that day I tweeted:

The major astrological event of the day is Mercury entering Aries tonight. Communication is about to get more impulsive, direct and passionate with more spontaneity. #astrology

I don’t know about you, but I noticed the change to Mercury in Aries immediately.  For me it has been manifesting in sudden bouts of anger.  Okay, I admit that when the cleaning person broke my lamp and I contacted her boss with a photo of the broken lamp shade pieces it was justified, but I was uttering some choice words before I breathed and texted her. She has agreed to compensate me financially for it, so it all worked out.

The aspects were fairly mellow this week after Mercury entered Aries, until April 9 when Mars in 21 degrees of Gemini squares Neptune in 21 degrees of Pisces. This aspect is not going to be fun, folks.  It will be rife with confusion, deception and manipulation.  I loved what astrologer Pam Gregory said about Mars square Neptune: “aggression at sea.”  I certainly hope that she is wrong, but it is an apt interpretation. It doesn’t help that the Moon in Pisces is conjunct Neptune. That is kind of a double whammy if ever I saw one.  I have Neptune in the 1^st house conjunct my ascendant, and I love to extoll the spiritual qualities of Neptune, but I think that we might be hard pressed to find them with this aspect, as it tends to dissipate energy.  Just be kind to yourself and keep your expectations for productivity low on this day.  It also seems that there is news about COVID-19 whenever Neptune is aspected.

But the New Moon in 22 degrees of Aries on April 11 will be akin to a gun being fired at the start of a race to set things in motion quickly. Big decisions will be made. I mentioned earlier that a lot of this action is due to the fact that the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Venus, Ceres and Chiron are in Aries.  Action is a major theme of this New Moon. 

When the Moon is in Aries, we are more courageous and a New Moon that just happens to be conjunct Mercury in Aries supplies the courage to take more risks and say what we are feeling.  The Moon enters Aries on April 10 and on that day it conjuncts Chiron in 5 degrees of Aries, so there is a strong likelihood that we will be getting in touch with some old emotional wounds for the purpose of healing them.  Pluto in Capricorn is a heavy hitter in this New Moon.  Venus in 26 degrees of Aries is squaring Pluto on April 11 and this aspect will generate tension, conflict, control issues and obsessive-compulsive behavior.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square, so I am all too familiar with what it entails.  It could also bring up issues with a third party in and highlight triangles in relationships.  But it does have a way of weeding out toxic habits and perhaps ending relationships that no longer serve us. It is a pretty safe bet to predict that there will be lots of emotional intensity and themes of freedom, independence, safety and security will be rampant.

Pluto in Capricorn is very busy on a decluttering mission for the first half of April. The Sun in Aries will be exactly squaring Pluto on the 13^th and Mercury in Aries will be squaring Pluto in Capricorn in mid-April.  When the Sun is squaring Pluto, we will be dealing with control issues and ego conflicts.  It’s important to remember that we need to let go, let the transformation occur and reclaim our inner power.  Mercury squaring Pluto will bring intense interactions with others and we could find ourselves communicating in a very defensive manner. But we are releasing toxic thoughts that need to go.

All is not lost with this upcoming New Moon, however.  We have some very positive aspects occurring.  The New Moon in 22 degrees of Aries is forming supportive sextiles to Mars in 23 degrees of Gemini and Jupiter in 25 degrees of Aquarius.  These sextiles supply energy, luck and foster expansion of our goals.  And Mars in Gemini and Jupiter in Aquarius are trining each other, which provides energy for our visions of the future and Jupiter expands our courage to pursue those dreams.  These are definitely bright spots on the New Moon and we should focus on those while we are setting new intentions, which is what we should be doing on a New Moon.

On April 14, we have an astrological treat in store for us when Venus leaves Aries and enters one of its happy places, Taurus.  Venus is exalted in Pisces, but it rules Taurus and Libra, so it is right at home in Taurus and eminently comfortable. Just in case you hadn’t noticed, Venus is not the happiest camper in Aries.  When Venus is in Taurus, it is more sensual and seeks security and values that will go the distance.  We will also feel more emotionally grounded.  But we can be torn between spending money on our love of luxury versus saving.  And the shadow side of Venus in Taurus is possessiveness.  Venus will remain in Taurus until May 8, so enjoy the ride.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mercury is in a Hurry as it Zips through Aries and the North Node Pushes Us Towards Our Collective Path

 

The planet Mercury is wasting no time this month as it enters the cardinal fire sign of Aries on April 3, 2021 and cruises through at breakneck speed in Aries until April 19, 2021.  Communication is about to change in a very big way, and if you blink you just might miss it.  Many of us got complacent with Mercury in Aquarius from January 8 through March 15 with the first Mercury retrograde of 2021.  Then Mercury entered the mutable water sign of Pisces on March 15.  I don’t know about you, but from my personal experience and from everything I have been hearing from friends and clients, it has been a highly emotional time and the water works have been flowing nonstop since Mercury entered Pisces.  People who rarely cry have been subject to the feels and tears have been released by one and all.

But when Mercury moves into Aries for sixteen days on April 3, all of this is about to change dramatically.  I am sure that emotional release was necessary with Mercury in Pisces, but Mercury in Aries is a whole new ball game. Mercury in Aries likes to express ideas with more passion than usual.  Our minds are restless and impatient as spontaneity is the order of the day.  We are going to be speaking our minds clearly and directly with no subterfuge. Of course the shadow side of Mercury in Aries is that we might be a little less tactful as we are on a course to translate our dreams into action.  We will be filled with courage and innovation. Trust your first thoughts because they are the best and most accurate at this time.  And the best part is that Mercury is joining the Sun and Venus in Aries, so team Aries is in full force until April 14 when Venus is the first to leave Aries for Taurus.

We have also been under the influence of the North Node in Gemini recently. The North Node has been in the sign of Gemini since May 6, 2020 and will remain there until January 18, 2022.  The North Node represents where we are stretching out of our comfort zone to attain our highest purpose.  When the North Node is in Gemini, that purpose is to reveal and disseminate truth and knowledge in a friendly and straightforward manner.  When I was first learning astrology many years ago, I remember my astrology teacher saying that Gemini was the most democratic sign of all the air signs.  We really need that to be true during these challenging times. But it can also be unpredictable and too curious for its own good, so be mindful of that.  Don’t forget that while the North Node is in Gemini, we are dealing with the South Node in Sagittarius and a certain bluntness and lack of tack can accompany it.

I have been musing quite a bit lately on the North Node in Gemini because it has been conjuncting my Moon in Gemini in my 8^th house.  This transit only happens every 19 years, so it has caused me to reflect on what was happening in my life during 2002.  But overall the North Node in Gemini has been very active lately.  During the Full Moon in Libra on March 28, it was also conjunct Mars in Gemini, which could have served as an agitating influence or a call for action.

But during the first week in April the North Node will also be trining Saturn in 11-12 degrees of Aquarius.  Trines are easy flowing aspects and this is a very good thing in terms of making progress for creating new structures in our lives that benefit the collective greater good.  Hopefully this will manifest in more honesty in spreading the word on how to implement positive changes in the world.
