The Sun Enters Scorpio, a Venus-Sun Cazimi in Scorpio, Mercury Retrogrades in Scorpio, Venus Goes Back into Libra and a Full Moon in Taurus

 

What a week we have coming astrologically!  And it all starts on October 23 at 5:38 a.m. when the Sun enters Scorpio for its annual visit.  Prepare for a period of intensity and uncovering the truth as we are digging deeply beneath the surface.  It can be a very healing and transformative time because it represents an opportunity to shed toxic patterns and emotional baggage.  This is the start of my new year because I am a Scorpio with my Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Pallas, Lilith and Ceres in the fixed water sign. 

Also on October 23, we have a Venus/Sun Cazimi in 0 degrees of Scorpio at 11:44 p.m.  Cazimi simply means that a planet is considered to be in the heart of the Sun.  Venus is at the midpoint of its retrograde transit that began on October 3 when it stationed in 8 degrees of Scorpio and it is now urging us to look beneath the surface of our true values, emotional attachments, power dynamics and financial or romantic partnerships.  Venus will now become a morning star, so if you have heard the phrase Venus Star Point, it is referring to the fact that we are concluding a nearly 100-year cycle that began in 1930. Venus retrograde in Scorpio will not meet up with the Sun in Scorpio again until 2181.  This is truly the end of an era.  It is a cosmic wake-up call and a chance for some clarity.  This Cazimi is exactly conjunct my natal Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio, so I have no doubt that it will have a profound effect on my life.

Mercury stations retrograde in 20 degrees of Scorpio on October 24 and remains retrograde until November 13, which is the same day Venus turns direct.  Mercury retrograde is associated with technological glitches, misunderstandings in communication and travel delays.  In the fixed water sign of Scorpio, Mercury retrograde can play out as finding ourselves dredging up unanswered questions and returning to unfinished conversations.  It can highlight joint finances, obsession and power struggles.  Research is another theme associated with Mercury retrograde in Scorpio.  Mercury is stationing retrograde on my Sun in the 2nd house, so this should be interesting...We also need to be mindful of the tendency towards passive-aggressive behavior. Enough said...

Venus retrograde slips into Libra on October 25 and remains in Libra until December 3. Venus rules Libra, so it is much more comfortable in this this sign.  We should experience a bit of a break in the Venus retrograde because let's face it, Venus is not a happy camper in Scorpio.  It's possible to achieve more fairness and equality in relationships.  Relationships could be feeling lighter now and I think that we can all use that now.

The piece de resistance is the Full Moon in 3 degrees of Taurus on October 26.  Mark my words, this will be another pressure cooker Full Moon.  The good news about this Full Moon is that it occurs in the exaltation degree of the Moon.  But this Full Moon is also squaring Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius, which has themes of rebirth, release of compulsive habits, and control issues. We are being asked to let go of what is no longer serving our best interests.  This Full Moon in Taurus highlights where we have invested too much in maintaining stability in our lives to the point that it is stifling us.  Don't resist change, which is heavily emphasized because the Moon in the fixed sign of Taurus is opposing the Sun in the fixed water sign of Scorpio.  I know it's easier said than done, but find the courage to let go of whatever your security blanket is.

What else is going on astrologically on this Full Moon?  Plenty.  Retrograde Chiron in 28 degrees of Aries is conjunct the Full Moon in 3 degrees of Taurus, so don't be surprised if old wounds are triggered.  Retrograde Mercury in Scorpio is squaring Mars and Jupiter in Leo as well as the North Node in Aquarius and South Node in Leo.  Mercury squaring Mars and Jupiter in Leo can cause us to reflect on our need to be validated and seen.  Mercury squaring the Nodes of the Moon can bring information that will change our lives.  Remember that the South Node represents our past and the path of least resistance while the North Node is where our soul is headed that requires us to stretch out of our comfort one.

The bottom line with this Full Moon in Taurus is that it can definitely be overwhelming with all of this planetary activity.  We can be feeling vulnerable, so be sure to speak out and engage in some heavy self-care.  Venus is the ruler of this Full Moon, and it is in Libra, the other sign that Venus rules.  Take good care, everyone.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. Mars in Leo Trines Saturn in Aries and Venus in Scorpio Mixes it Up with Uranus, Pluto and Neptune

 

We have a high energy day on tap for October 16 when Mars in Leo is exactly trining Saturn in 10 degrees of Aries.  Strength, ambition, discipline and perseverance are on hand in a big way to take on the hardest tasks so that we can accomplish great feats.  It's perfect for managing finances and making commitments in relationships.  This is the day to handle any responsibilities we have been shirking and get organized.  As someone who has the more challenging natal square aspect between Mars in Aquarius and Saturn in Scorpio, I can really appreciate the value and enormous potential of this aspect.  Quite frankly, I wish I had a trine between Mars and Saturn but I am dealing with the square.  At least it makes me tough and persistent in the fixed signs.

On the same day, retrograde Venus in Scorpio is inconjunct retrograde Uranus in 5 degrees of Gemini.  Our need for change and excitement in love is accelerated.  This can usher in a period of instability in relationships.  If you are single, you could be attracted to someone who is completely from your usual type and it could turn into a brief encounter.  There is bound to be some tension between our need for relational harmony and our craving for freedom, so try to deal with it constructively by making minor adjustments.  

Venus in Scorpio will be squaring Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius on October 20, 2026.  We have had quite a few Venus Pluto squares in 2026: Venus in Taurus squared Pluto in Aquarius on April 3, Venus in Scorpio square Pluto in Aquarius on September 15 and after October 20, Venus in Scorpio will square Pluto in Aquarius on December 9 when both of these planets are direct. The themes of this transit are control, manipulation and hidden power struggles within relationships and financial/shared resources.  There will be high emotional intensity, jealousy, possessiveness and potentially obsessive behavior.  It can be very uncomfortable but ultimately it forces us to purge toxic habits and reclaim our personal power.  Pluto is after all the astrological version of Roto-Rooter.  Be mindful of a tendency towards compulsive spending too. We can expect some drama to occur on this day because feelings are much deeper than usual.  Intensity is the name of the game here.  I have this aspect natally with my retrograde Venus in Scorpio squaring my Pluto in Leo.

On October 21, Venus in Scorpio is inconjunct retrograde Neptune in 2 degrees of Aries. This is characterized by imagination, optimism and idealism accompanied by insecurity, uncertainty, guilt and self-doubt.  There is a strong mismatch between our desire and actual reality, manifesting in confusion.  Try not to make any major financial decisions, especially on things that seem too good to be true and don't make promises you can't keep.  You can be more creative or just use the energy to see some art or a movie.  This aspect can foster creativity.  Just be aware that surrealism and confusion can be present on this day.

An Unusually Intense New Moon in Libra and Pluto Goes Direct in Aquarius

 

We have a New Moon in 17 degrees of Libra on October 10 that is anything but peaceful.  Many of us have been feeling somewhat stuck lately and this New Moon can be very emotionally triggering and leave us feeling quite vulnerable, especially with Venus retrograde.  Venus in 7 degrees of Scorpio is squaring Mars in 7 degrees of Leo on the New Moon, which can bring discomfort and tension in relationships.  But this can result in clearer boundaries if we can survive any ego wounds that are dredged up, pride and reactive patterns. Venus in Scorpio is also squaring Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius, emphasizing power dynamics and old trauma that resurfaces.

The New Moon in Libra is also opposing Saturn in 10 degrees of Aries with strong themes of  responsibility, hard work and emotional maturity.  We will need to show up when it's uncomfortable and set some boundaries in relationships.

A New Moon in Libra requires that we listen to others so that we can plant new seeds in relationships and reboot them in order to obtain a reset.  Fortunately the saving grace aspect of this New Moon is the supportive sextile between the Moon in Libra and Jupiter in 21 degrees of Leo.  This provides us with wisdom, growth, and heart-centered expansion.  It is very supportive and healing if we are willing to do the work. This New Moon is also conjunct my Ascendant and activating my Grand Air Trine involving Mars in Aquarius and my Moon in Gemini, so I have no doubt that it will be important for me.

On October 15 Pluto will station direct 3 degrees of Aquarius after having been retrograde since May 6, 2026 in 5 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto direct will give us more clarity on decisions that have been percolating since May.  It can represent a point of completion as well as a spiritual turning point and transformation. It is a time to get unstuck regarding the major changes in our lives and who couldn’t use that.

The Sun in Libra is also forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 21 degrees of Leo on October 15.  This is accompanied by a boost in confidence, optimism, positive thinking and feelings of generosity. We can be feeling lucky because material and spiritual growth are possible.  It is a real feel-good day, so make the most of it.

Mercury in Scorpio Meets Up with Mars, Pluto and Venus While Venus Goes Retrograde and the Sun in Libra Opposes Saturn in Aries

 

Early October may be technically Libra season, but it sure is feeling very Scorpionic with the personal planets of Mercury and Venus in Scorpio.   On October 2 Mercury in Scorpio squares  Mars in Leo and then Pluto in Aquarius. Mercury squares Mars in Leo at 5:14 a.m., bringing the potential for impatience, quick tempers and aggressive communication.  Later in the afternoon Mercury squares Pluto in Aquarius adding to the mental tension and the possibility of power struggles.  The Mercury-Pluto square can help us to focus more intensely and facilitate engagement in research so that we can uncover hidden truths. Just be mindful of the tendency to be compulsive or obsessive in our behavior though.

Mars in Leo is also opposing Pluto in Aquarius on October 3 creating a theme of ego clashes as personal power dynamics surface.  We might have a realization that there are some things that we just can't control.  This means that we are under the influence of a fixed T-square as both Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius are squaring Mercury in Scorpio.  We will be experiencing tension, stubbornness and resistance to change courtesy of the fixed quality of these planets.  But it does give us endurance which is sorely needed these days.

Venus is stationing retrograde in 8 degrees of Scorpio on October 3.  It will re-enter Libra (one of its favorite signs) on October 25 and remain retrograde until November 13.  So Venus will be reentering Scorpio on December 4 and stay in Scorpio until January 7, 2027.  The last time Venus was retrograde in Scorpio was October 5 - November 16, 2018.  Venus won't be retrograde in Scorpio again until October 2034. Venus retrograde is a time to reflect on our personal values, finances and relationships.  Past partners could re-emerge in our lives to help us seek closure about unresolved issues.  This is NOT a good time to make drastic changes in our appearance, take financial risks or get married.  If a new relationship begins during this period, it might not last.  I have a natal retrograde Venus in Scorpio, so I am quite familiar with its intensity.

On October 4, the Sun in Libra is opposing Saturn in 11 degrees of Aries. This can play out as a test of patience as our personal drive is confronted head-on with real world limits.  Responsibilities can feel overwhelming.  Stress is kicking our butt.  Transiting Saturn is in my 6th house so I know it won't exactly be a high energy day for me.  Try not to tackle any new projects on this day.

We get a break on October 6 when Mercury and Venus are conjunct in 8 degrees of Scorpio.  This can be pretty sweet for loving communication and can also encourage creativity, emotional clarity and deeper levels of intimacy are possible.  With Venus retrograde, we could be reassessing old relationships.  This can help us mitigate any damage incurred from that fixed T-square of the previous weekend.

Mars in Leo is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 5 degrees of Gemini on October 7.  This is a very high energy aspect that delivers a sudden burst of motivation and a desire to break free from boring routines.  This is the day to start something new and implement bold ideas.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
