Mars Enters Aries for an Extended Stay and Jupiter Conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn

This may be the week between eclipses but it is hardly a quiet one.  We did experience a major solar eclipse on June 21, 2020 when I tweeted:
We have two major astrological aspects occurring before the next lunar eclipse in 13 degrees of Capricorn on July 5, 2020.  The first happens on June 27, 2020 when Mars enters Aries, the sign it rules.  This is no ordinary Mars in Aries transit, however, because this year we will experience a Mars retrograde transit, so Mars will remain in the sign of Aries until January 6, 2021.  Mars will station retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries on September 9, 2020 and will station direct in 15 degrees of Aries on November 13, 2020.  We haven’t experienced a Mars retrograde transit in Aries since 1988 and we won’t have another one until 2067, so this is a really big deal.  I certainly won’t live to see the next one.

Since Mars rules Aries, it is truly comfortable and at home here. Don’t forget that Mars is a warrior and will give us the courage to implement changes in our lives. If you have been feeling sluggish the Mars in Aries transit should revitalize you and provide you with an assertive jolt of energy. The shadow side of Mars in Aries involves a certain amount of impatience and irritability. Mars in Aries will affect everyone, but anyone who has planets in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will bear the brunt of it.  It all depends on which house or houses Mars in Aries will be transiting in your chart as to how it will play out in your life.   For me, Mars will begin its transit in my 6th house of health, work, service to others and daily routines and then enter my 7th house of partnerships in late July, but it will backtrack into my 6th house from late October through mid-November. It also goes without saying that the Mars retrograde period from September through mid-November is not the best time to implement major changes, as we could feel stymied and held back from making progress.  Be mindful of that retrograde period.

Mars in Aries will also be squaring Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. Mars in Aries will square Jupiter in Capricorn on August 4, 2020 and again on October 19, 2020. Mars squaring Jupiter could manifest as a judicious figure trying to pacify impulsive and hot headed individuals.    Mars in Aries will be squaring Saturn in Capricorn on August 24, 2020 and again on September 29, 2020.  This aspect could play out in bitter struggles to break free of the status quo.  And last but definitely not least, Mars in Aries will be squaring Pluto in Capricorn on August 13, 2020 and again on October 9, 2020 and December 23, 2020. This aspect has all of the earmarks of epic power struggles and confrontations.  People who have more power will tend to have the upper hand during this transit, so it is wise to avoid using underhanded and ruthless tactics because they could very well backfire.  By all means feel free to strive for success while Mars is squaring Pluto, but be careful not to alienate anyone in the process.

On June 30, 2020, Jupiter and Pluto will be conjunct in 24 degrees of Capricorn.  This is the second of three Jupiter Pluto conjunctions in 2020.  The first one occurred on April 4, 2020 in 24 degrees of Capricorn and the final one will happen on November 12, 2020 in 22 degrees of Capricorn.  Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Capricorn signifies a time of growth and catharsis as we seek to regenerate.  Jupiter and Pluto are strange bedfellows indeed, no doubt about it.  Jupiter wants to expand while Pluto wants to purge for a rebirth to occur.  Pluto will cause whatever is weak to crumble but Jupiter will bestow with the natural optimism to rebuild. Jupiter and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn has strong themes of maturity and responsibility.  Hopefully by the third time this aspect is exact in November, we will have learned enough to make the adjustments necessary to achieve more maturity and responsibility as we seek to transform our goals.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto can also create a new sense of purpose in our lives and a sense of spiritual self-development that allows us to have a sharper focus and offers us hope in these challenging times. The Jupiter Pluto conjunction can put us in touch with deeper levels of truth as we peel the layers of the onion to discover more about the purpose of our soul’s journey.

I am pretty stoked about this Jupiter Pluto conjunction because it is conjunct my natal Chiron in 24 degrees of Capricorn in my 4th house and it is also conjunct my progressed sun in 25 degrees of Capricorn.  I am anticipating making major changes in my life and healing work as a result of this Jupiter Pluto conjunction.  And I am very grateful that we get three shots at mastering this aspect.  It goes without saying that I am thankful that we didn’t experience three Saturn Pluto conjunctions in 2020 because one was more than enough to generate the Coronavirus.  I contracted and survived the Coronavirus, but a part of me believes that having my progressed sun in Capricorn forming a supportive sextile to my natal Venus in 24 degrees of Scorpio helped to save my life.

If you are curious about your progressed sun or how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions in order to practice social distancing.  A distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is $30.  For your convenience, I accept PayPal and Venmo as forms of payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

If you are interested in learning more about how Reiki can benefit you, please feel free to check out my Reiki site at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! Solar Eclipse in Cancer and Shifts in Direction for Neptune and Venus

The season of Cancer is upon us in a very big way.  Mercury stationed retrograde in 14 degrees of Cancer on June 18, 2020, inspiring me to tweet:
Mercury will be in Cancer for the whole retrograde period, stationing direct in 5 degrees of Cancer on July 12, 2020 and this really ups the emotional ante.  But there is plenty more Cancer energy on the horizon.  The sun enters the sensitive water sign of Cancer on June 20, 2020.  This is called the Summer Solstice and is the official start of summer.  But thanks to COVID-19, this will be no ordinary summer.

When the sun is in the sign of Cancer, we tend to be more self-protective, focused on home and family, experience deep emotions and feel more sentimental.  Who isn’t feeling nostalgic these days for the life we had pre-COVID-19?  So it is probably a good thing that we will feel more comfortable spending more time at home because our life literally depends on it.

On June 21, 2020, we will experience the second of three eclipses that will rock our world this summer. The previous one occurred on June 5th and was a lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius.  This eclipse will be a solar eclipse in 0 degrees of Cancer.  The last time we had a solar eclipse in 0 degrees of Cancer was also on June 21st in 2001. Many believe that was a precursor leading to 9/11.  I am not saying that this eclipse will lead to another war, but many of us already feel like we are at war with an invisible enemy, which is COVID-19.  The effects of a solar eclipse can be felt up for up to three months before and up to one year after they occur.

The solar eclipse in Cancer will contain strong themes of emotional security, nurturing and compassion for others, but it can also be very reactive energy.  It happens to fall on Father’s Day. It is conjunct the north node in 29 degrees of Gemini, so it will definitely have far reaching implications for our future.  It is also on the world axis at 0 degrees of the cardinal sign Cancer.  Anyone with planets in the early degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn will feel the effects of this eclipse intensely.  And anyone with planets in the very late degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will also be feeling the brunt of this eclipse.  I am definitely in the line of fire on this eclipse as it widely conjuncts my south node in Cancer in my 9th house and trines my Mercury in Scorpio and Neptune in Libra in the 1st house.

What is the astrological landscape for the eclipse?  The sun and moon in Cancer are inconjunct Saturn in Aquarius.  I have a natal moon Saturn inconjunct and I can tell you from personal experience that this is not the easiest aspect to deal with in terms of getting your emotional needs met as it tends to restrict nurturing. So while Cancer is a very nurturing sign, we may find it difficult to act out our nurturing feelings.  The moon in Cancer is also squaring Chiron in Aries on the day of the eclipse, so we could be facing some challenges on healing old emotional issues.  But we could benefit from the Cancer moon forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in Taurus on the day of the eclipse.  Eclipses are renowned for bringing change, but having the moon sextile Uranus gives us a shot at some welcome and pleasant changes occurring.  Let’s try to hold onto that thought…

On June 23, 2020, Neptune stations retrograde in 20 degrees of Pisces until November 28, 2020 when it stations direct in 18 degrees of Pisces.  Neptune retrograde is not nearly as dramatic as Mercury retrograde; it can be a time of spiritual awakening and creativity.  But we do need to be mindful of its shadow side which can lead to escapist activities and a tendency to play the victim.  Anyone with planets in18-24 degrees of the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces will feel the effects more acutely.

On June 25, 2020, Venus will station direct in 5 degrees of Gemini.  It has been retrograde since May 13, 2020, when it stationed in 21 degrees of Gemini.  Venus retrograde probably caused many of us to reevaluate our relationships, values, finances and creativity.  So we can at least feel freer to move forward in these areas of our lives, while we will have Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto and Neptune retrograde.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Mars and Neptune Tango to Create More Fog and Mercury Retrograde

Traditionally the week between eclipses is considered to be a very weird, eerily calm and sometimes foggy period.  We experienced a powerful lunar eclipse in Sagittarius on June 5, 2020 when I tweeted:
Neptune in Pisces is adding to the fog these days.  On June 11, 2020, the sun in 20 degrees of Gemini squared Neptune in 20 of Pisces. Ironically, that date marked three months since the WHO declared coronavirus a pandemic.  On June 13, 2020, Mars in Pisces will conjunct Neptune in Pisces.  This can be a really tricky combination that has a strong theme of wanting to escape reality and with the reality of the past three months of lockdown during coronavirus, who can blame anyone for wanting to escape reality?

Mars in Pisces can stir up strife and anger over feeling like a victim or martyr and Neptune in Pisces can sow confusion, chaos and uncertainty.  If our anger is not expressed openly, it can lead to depression and bitterness. Mars can inspire Neptune to act more compassionately as we can feel like we are literally being supported by our intuition and a Higher Power.  We may find ourselves with more energy and enthusiasm for spiritual and creative goals. But people who are highly sensitive (I fall into this camp with my Neptune in the first house conjunct my ascendant) will need to be very careful under the auspices of this aspect by staying as grounded as possible and avoiding drugs and other escapist venues.

There is definitely a shadow side to this Mars Neptune conjunction in Pisces that we need to be mindful of.  There is a danger of a second wave or surge in coronavirus cases, especially with restrictions being lifted in many states.  We could find ourselves over-idealizing others which can open the door to deception and scandals.  In short, we could either feel very romantic or paranoid or delusional.  This aspect can play out either way.  Themes of deception and feeling like a victim or martyr are rife with this aspect and Mars conjunct Neptune will be influencing the next eclipse on June 21, 2020, which is a solar eclipse in 0 degrees of Cancer.  The most constructive way to channel this aspect is not get caught up in being too self-confident and to honor the Piscean energy of helping others by acting compassionately and focusing on creative endeavors.

On June 18, 2020, Mercury will station retrograde in 14 degrees of Cancer and will station direct in 5 degrees of Cancer on July 12, 2020.  Of course we all know that we have been under the influence of Mercury retrograde’s shadow since June 2nd and it won’t clear its retrograde shadow until July 26, 2020.

The bottom line is that if you have any planets between 5-14 degrees in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will feel this Mercury retrograde big time.  It will be in my 9th house and will conjunct my south node in Cancer, so I suspect there will be some major karmic release.  For the rest of us, Mercury retrograde in Cancer will have a focus on reviewing and reassessing home and family. Since we have been spending so much time at home for the past three months, in a way this makes perfect sense.  And of course, we need to be mindful of the usual precautions involved with Mercury retrograde: allow extra time for transportation, expect communications snafus, be wary of missed, canceled or rescheduled appointments and try not to purchase electronic devices if possible or sign any contracts or accept a new job.  It is well known that if you accept a new job during Mercury retrograde, it will not be what you expected.  The exception to the job rule is if it is someone you have worked for in the past. Mercury retrograde in Cancer may make us even more emotionally sensitive to the frustrations that Mercury retrograde entails.  Between Neptune and Mercury retrograde in Cancer, we are dealing with a great deal of highly sensitive water energy.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Eclipse Season Starts off with a Bang with an Angry Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius

Eclipse season is officially underway on June 5, 2020 with a powerful lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius.  The next two eclipses occur on June 21, 2020 in 0 degrees of Cancer and on July 5, 2020 in 13 degrees of Capricorn.

This lunar eclipse in Sagittarius has a very impulsive and angry vibe because it squares Mars in Pisces and is involved in a T-square that includes the sun and Venus in Gemini, the moon in Sagittarius, and Mars, Neptune and Ceres in Pisces.  This mutable T-square has a lot of nervous energy, but we need to remember that a T-square does serve to motivate us to change. The past week has seen incredible turmoil and violence following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis at the hands of a police officer.  This baby boomer is being reminded of the racially charged riots of the 1960’s that occurred in my childhood and it saddens me to see it happening again.  I am also reminded of the riots that ensued after police officers were acquitted of attacking Rodney King in 1992.  Ironically, the attack on Rodney King that happened in March 1991 also featured Saturn in the early degrees of Aquarius.  This is also a south node eclipse, which has a strong theme of being connected to the past and letting go.  It’s time to create a new future that doesn’t involve racism.

A lunar eclipse in Sagittarius has strong issues of freedom, truth, justice, the law, beliefs and disclosure.  The fact that the moon is squaring Mars in 15 degrees of Pisces has a vibe that is combustible and makes us prone to feeling more angry, edgy, irritable and prone to temper tantrums. Mars in Pisces also activates the victim theme and people feeling like they are not being seen or heard.  When people feel invisible, which is a very Neptunian theme (and Neptune is the ruler of Pisces), anger can ensue.  I suspect that there will be more angry outbursts in the coming week.  But all is not lost because Mars is also conjunct Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces which can lead to compassionate and spiritual action if we channel this energy constructively. Just be mindful of the shadow side of this aspect, which is loss of focus as Neptune has a tendency to dissolve energy.

We have one other saving grace aspect that occurs on this lunar eclipse.  Mercury in Cancer forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in Taurus and this offers us the opportunity for some nurturing change in communications. We could experience some real breakthroughs with this aspect, so make the most of it.

Venus retrograde in 12 degrees of Gemini is compounding the effects of this eclipse by adding financial stress and making it more difficult to give and receive love and affection. The moon opposes Venus, which doesn’t augur well for love or finances.  There is bound to be a lot of anger surfacing in relationships.  Impatience and lack of self-control could easily manifest in hostile actions. Venus in Gemini is also squaring Mars in Pisces which could result in increased sex drive but also has the potential to add a layer of competitive tension that might spill out in angry outbursts and major conflicts.  Adding to the mix is that Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces, so we could be reassessing love relationships and finances.  This aspect contains a theme of a clash between the head and the heart.  The best way to deal with this energy is trust your heart.

I am a bit concerned myself about the effects of this eclipse as the moon in Sagittarius is opposing my moon in Gemini in my 8th house.  Talk about a double whammy!  I frequently tell my clients that a lunar eclipse is like a full moon on steroids and this one is no exception to that rule.    The pandemic has forced many of us to let go of the past and engage in some serious transformation.  I literally feel like I am once again the phoenix rising from the ashes as I let go of what is no longer serving my best interests and creating a new life for myself.  I am also very grateful for the fact that I tested negative for COVID-19 and feel that represents an opportunity for renewal and growth as my physical energy returns.

On June 6, 2020 the sun in Gemini is squaring Mars in 16 degrees of Pisces, which reinforces the anger theme.  The most productive way of channeling this energy is to be physically active.  If you have ever wanted to implement a new fitness routine, this is the time to do start exercising and avoid the shadow side of engaging in physical violence.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:
