A More Sensitive Approach to Communications Emerges as Mercury Enters Cancer

Communications and thinking are undergoing a major shift because Mercury entered the water sign of Cancer on May 28, 2020, when I tweeted:
That’s right folks, we are in for an extended transit of Mercury in Cancer courtesy of an upcoming Mercury retrograde that officially starts on June 18, 2020 when Mercury stations direct in 14 degrees of Cancer and stations direct in 5 degrees of Cancer on July 12, 2020.  But we all know there is a shadow period for a retrograde planet and Mercury enters it retrograde shadow period on June 2, 2020 in 5 degrees of Cancer, so don’t be surprised if you start feeling the effects of Mercury retrograde early next week.

When Mercury is transiting the sign of Cancer, there will be a marked change from the frenetic pace of Mercury in Gemini.  Our communications become more sensitive and sentimental as we reflect on the past. Reflection on the past will be doubly emphasized due to the retrograde.  Mercury in Cancer represents an opportunity to get closer to others as we have more of a willingness to listen to others and share more personal feelings.  It is a time when we feel more comfortable discussing the things that make us feel more vulnerable.  I don’t know about you, but this pandemic has made me feel extremely vulnerable.  We will probably be communicating in a softer manner and sharing our feelings on a more intimate level.  It’s easier to connect lovingly with others as our intuition soars and we find it easier to actually listen to others. But be mindful of the fact that there is a shadow side of Mercury in Cancer that involves a tendency towards crying more often and engaging in passive aggressive behavior.

Mercury in Cancer is also a time to ground and secure our emotions.  The water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will truly be in their element. I am a Scorpio, so I know I will be receiving some beneficial trines to my sun, Mercury, Saturn, Venus, Ceres, and Pallas in Scorpio.  I will also experience some conjunctions from Mercury in Cancer to my south node, midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer, so I suspect there will be some clearing of the decks karmically and some new ways of thinking about my career.

This is a relatively quiet week astrologically but next week that will change as we enter eclipse season which commences on June 5, 2020 with a lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Sagittarius.  Right now we should continue to reap the benefits of Mars in Pisces forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in Taurus.  This aspect was exact on May 25, 2020 in 8 degrees of the planets’ respective signs.  We will be under the influence of this aspect until June 2, 2020 (the day Mercury enters its retrograde shadow) when Mars reaches 13 degrees of Pisces.

What can we expect from a Mars Uranus sextile? This aspect increases our desire for fun and excitement while it facilitates making changes in our life.  We could also find ourselves attracting different types of people and breaking away from relationships that are restricting and limiting.  This aspect also grants us a window of time to trust our instincts and take a risk, so make the most of it.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions in order to practice social distancing.  A distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is $30.  For your convenience, I accept PayPal and Venmo as forms of payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

If you are interested in learning more about how Reiki can benefit you, please feel free to check out my Reiki site at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! A Busy New Moon in Gemini That Can Make Us Feel Pulled in Two Directions

We have a busy new moon in 2 degrees of Gemini on May 22, 2020 that can literally make us feel like we are being pulled in two directions between our heart and our mind.  Don’t forget that Gemini is the sign of the twins.

New moons are traditionally renowned as a time of setting new intentions and this one is no exception.  We also have a lot of planets in mutable signs during this new moon: the sun and moon in Gemini, in addition to Mercury and Venus conjunct in 19 degrees of Gemini, as well as Mars in 6 degrees of Pisces and Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces.  A preponderance of planets in mutable signs can manifest in high energy, versatility, adaptability and chameleon like behavior. This planetary alignment can contribute to a lack of focus and a sense of not being terribly grounded.

A new moon in Gemini is bound to be craving new information and will imbue us with a strong desire to explore an option of choices. The sun and moon in Gemini are also squaring Mars in Pisces, which can make us very assertive in the area of communications.  Mercury and are retrograde Venus are conjunct in 19 degrees of Gemini, which can definitely have us reflecting on relationships and finances.  But Mercury and Venus are squaring Neptune in Pisces, which can manifest in a fog of uncertainty, leading to a clash between the head and the heart.

Neptune has been a heavy astrological hitter in recent days.  On May 20, 2020 Venus in 20 degrees of Gemini was exactly square Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces, inspiring me to tweet:
This aspect played out for me personally in a very unusual manner that resonates with the vibe of Venus and Neptune squaring each other. Venus was widely conjunct my moon in my 8th house by 6 degrees and on that day I decided to give up practicing Reiki at the Acupuncture for Everyone clinic in Boston.  It was an extremely difficult decision for me to make, as I had been working there for six years and derived enormous satisfaction from my practice. But life post-COVID and the logistics of practicing Reiki in the clinic which is being newly designed would not afford me the opportunity to practice Reiki in a safe manner.  The more I thought about how I could make accommodations to keep everyone safe, the more stressed out I became.  And there is the added fact that I am recovering from COVID-19 myself and awaiting the results of a test which I hope comes back negative because I have been symptom free for two weeks.  I decided to continue practicing distance Reiki and will hold on to my Brookline office, but I probably won’t be back there until July if I can figure out a way to make accommodations for safety in that space.

There is one very positive aspect present on the new moon in Gemini.  It trines Saturn in 1 degree of Aquarius, which can provide a very emotionally stabilizing influence.  It will inspire us to get real for the long haul and may indicate that people can come together for the long-term.  Saturn in Aquarius is all about making plans for the group.

On Memorial Day in the United States, May 25, 2020, Mars in 8 degrees of Pisces will be forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 8 degrees of Taurus.  This will definitely not be an ordinary Memorial Day holiday thanks to COVID-19, but with this aspect present we can expect something to change suddenly in our favor.  Hold that thought and try to enjoy the holiday.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Taurus Sun Departs on a High Note and Here Comes the Sun in Gemini

There was a big shift in communications and actions this week when Mercury entered the sign of Gemini on May 12th and Mars entered Pisces on May 13th.  I observed these planetary actions by tweeting:

Mercury is very comfortable in Gemini because it is one of the two signs it rules; Virgo is the other sign that Mercury rules. Mars is not so comfortable in Pisces, however, so we can expect a certain amount of passive aggressiveness because Mars in Pisces is averse to confrontation. And with Mercury entering Gemini and joining Venus in Gemini, which stationed retrograde on May 13th, it is setting the stage for the sun to join the Gemini party on May 20, 2020.

But before the sun departs the fixed earth sign of Taurus, it makes two very stellar aspects in the form of trines to Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn.  The trine to Pluto occurs on May 15, 2020 in 24 degrees of Taurus and Capricorn. It holds the promise for deep and intense experiences. Does any aspect to Pluto, even a flowing trine, roll any other way? The trine does offer the potential for powerful and positive transformations while affording us the opportunity to draw on resources we may have forgotten that we possess.  It also gives us the perseverance and courage to take control of our lives.  It is definitely an aspect that we should utilize to the max in these uncertain times.  We may not have control of the way our life is in the age of Coronavirus, but we do have control over the attitude we take towards it in terms of implementing major changes in our lives.  No one will remain unscathed from this pandemic, so we might as well accept this reality and figure out the most productive way of transforming our lives.

On May 17, 2020 the sun in 27 degrees of Taurus trines Jupiter in 27 of Capricorn.  This trine has a much lighter vibe and is accompanied by high spirits, enthusiasm, optimism and self-confidence.  Financial gains are also possible with this aspect.  Spiritual development is also a potential manifestation of this aspect.  This aspect will transit a real feel good vibe, so enjoy it.  Just don’t get too caught up in the Jupiterian shadow side of indulging too much or believing something that it is too good to be true.

On May 20, 2020, the sun enters the mutable air sign of Gemini.  This will be a radical change from the sun in Taurus.  We are also ensconced in a mutable feast of planets, with the sun accompanying Venus and Mercury in Gemini as well as Mars and Neptune in Pisces, which is another mutable sign. And we have a new moon in Gemini coming up on May 22, 2020.  More on that next week.  The bottom line with all of this mutable energy is that it is very chameleon like, versatile, adaptable, but it can lack the focus of a fixed sign like Taurus.

When the sun is transiting the sign of Gemini, we are motivated by knowledge and diversity as we seek a finger in every pot, so to speak.  We are definitely going to feel more sociable and intellectual.  Gemini is a non-conformist sign which craves information and the opportunity to explore choices.  This should be an interesting transit of the sun in Gemini while many of us are still in isolation and social distancing has become the new norm.  I wouldn’t be surprised if new ways of interacting through the Internet surfaced during this transit of the sun in Gemini.  Zoom has already become a major part of life for many people since the pandemic struck in March.  Has it only been two months?  For many of us, the days pre-March 11, 2020 seems like a lifetime ago.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

Retrograde Season is Officially Here While Mercury and Mars Change Signs

We are fresh off the heels off a powerfully intense full moon in Scorpio, but there is plenty of astrological action coming up in the next week.
Retrograde season will be officially here as three more planets join Pluto to form a retrograde party between May 11-14, 2020.  Saturn stations retrograde in 1 degree of Aquarius on May 11, 2020 and stations direct in 25 degrees of Capricorn on September 28, 2020.  I find it supremely ironic that Saturn is the first planet to station retrograde this coming week, joining its partner in crime Pluto.  By now we all know that the Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on January 12, 2020 was the beginning of the coronavirus.
We all know that when planets are retrograde it is a time to review and reflect.  The power of a planet is especially potent when it stations retrograde or direct.  Saturn begins its retrograde in the sign of Aquarius but moves back into Capricorn on June 30, 2020.  Saturn has a traditionally bad rep for being very frustrating in terms of the limitations and challenges it forces upon us.  Saturn retrograde in Aquarius is a time to review how our structures and habits support our expressions of freedom, our unique abilities and our intuition.  Saturn retrograde in Aquarius can be extremely uncomfortable because Aquarius loves freedom and during this period of COVOID-19 everyone’s freedoms are being severely curtailed.

Saturn will be retrograde in Capricorn from July 1 through September 28, 2020.  Saturn rules Capricorn and is more comfortable in that sign, so its focus will be on reviewing and revamping our levels of maturity, responsibility, time management and planning for the future.

Venus stations retrograde in 21 degrees of Gemini on May 13, 2020 and stations direct on June 24, 2020 in 5 degrees of Gemini.  Venus is only retrograde approximately every 18 months, so it’s kind of a big deal. I have it natally in the sign of Scorpio, so I am all too familiar with its energy.  And this particular Venus retrograde will conjunct my natal moon in Gemini in my 8th house in early June 2020. When Venus is retrograde, it’s time to review relationships, creativity and finances. Venus retrograde in Gemini will also be squaring Neptune in Pisces, so it could very well boost our creativity and insight, but the shadow side of this Venus retrograde is that it could make us prone to self-indulgence, having poor personal boundaries and playing the victim in relationships.  And I always tell my clients not to get married when Venus is retrograde, because the relationship will undoubtedly have complexities and challenges that could prove to be insurmountable.  I realize that this may not be good news for those who dreamed of being a June bride, but in the age of coronavirus, weddings are anything but traditional.

Jupiter is the last planet to join the retrograde party.  It stations retrograde in 27 degrees of Capricorn on May 14, 2020 and stations direct on September 12, 2020 in 17 degrees of Capricorn.  When Jupiter is retrograde, it represents an opportunity to review and reflect on higher education, philosophy, the meaning of life, optimism and hope.  Jupiter in Capricorn is very practical and hope is a major theme during these challenging times.

On May 11, 2020 Mercury moves from the fixed earth sign of Taurus to the mutable air sign of Gemini, where it stays until May 28, 2020.  Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo, so it is right at home here.  Mercury in Gemini is very comfortable and is more communicative, curious and sociable. It’s also more attracted to superficial knowledge (it loves variety) than delving deeply into one topic.  If there is a shadow side to Mercury in Gemini, it is that it is easily distracted.

On May 13, 2020, Mars moves from the fixed air sign of Aquarius to the mutable water sign of Pisces until June 27, 2020. Mars in Pisces experiences motivation on a more spiritual and emotional level; it’s just not that comfortable expressing itself physically. It dislikes confrontation and is very idealistic.  It does have a tendency to dip its toes into codependent waters by putting others needs ahead of its own, so be mindful of that fact.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The Nodes Change Signs and a Transformative Full Moon in Scorpio

The month of May promises to continue the path of transformation that the coronavirus initiated earlier this year.  Pluto stationed retrograde on April 25, 2020, inspiring me to tweet:
Today is May Day but not too many of us are in a celebratory mood for the season of spring or workers.  On May 5th, traditionally known as Cinco de Mayo, a day which commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over Napoleon III and the inspiration for many parties, we have an astrological turning point.  The nodes of the moon move from the north node in Cancer and the south node in Capricorn to the north node in Gemini and the south node in Sagittarius. The nodes will remain in Gemini and Sagittarius until January 18, 2022. The last time the north node, the sign of our collective destiny, entered Gemini, was in October 2001.  And the south node entered Sagittarius back then, which severely restricted long-distance travel, especially flying, shortly after 9/11. The south node is associated with karma, old habit patterns and is frequently referred to as the path of least resistance because we are so inherently comfortable with its traits.

As we conclude the transit of the south node in Capricorn, we can see it manifesting as governmental controls on our daily lives through lockdowns and a need for practical security.  The old structures of our lives have been rapidly dismantled as a result of the coronavirus.  The north node in Cancer increased the emphasis on emotional security and being at home more.  Hopefully it will also conclude as more compassion and nurturing behavior towards others during this challenging time that we are all undergoing.  Every day we hear stories of those on the front lines of this pandemic who are putting themselves out there and giving to others.  This is truly the best manifestation of integrating the compassion associated with Cancer with the power, responsibility and leadership of Capricorn.

I have my south node in Cancer and my north node in Capricorn and I can tell you that one of the most difficult lessons in my life has been trying to integrate the Capricorn energy into my life. I have a great deal of water in my chart, lots of Scorpio and Cancer planets, which makes my rely more on my emotions and intuition, so Capricorn issues of practicality, responsibility and leadership has felt like an alien presence in my life, but I do feel that I have made some progress in harnessing that energy.  I have also found that to be the case in many of my clients’ lives.

When the north node moves into Gemini, communication will be a major theme and lesson for all of us. The sign of Gemini is linked to the lungs and I don’t think that it is an accident that the coronavirus is a respiratory ailment.
The signs of Gemini and Sagittarius are mutable, which may stand us in good stead as we definitely need to adapt and be versatile in these challenging times.  But it also important to remember that viruses can mutate and come back, as we are being constantly told by doctors.

Gemini is by its nature a very social sign, but these days a great deal of our connectivity is being found online.  The perk of a north node in Gemini is that online businesses should be very prosperous while the north node is in this sign. Gemini is also very concerned with information and is non-conformist, so I wouldn’t be surprised if different social media platforms arise. Just be mindful of the potential for Internet deception and fraud, as Gemini is ruled by Mercury.  While the north node is in Gemini, we will be living much more locally and short trips will be the norm. There will be a strong focus on the neighborhood while the north node is in Gemini.

The south node in Sagittarius is concerned with the truth and learning.  But we also need to let go of global movement and travel, because flight as a mode of travel is not currently possible. Air travel changed dramatically after 9/11 (the last time we experienced this nodal placement). Sagittarius is also associated with the law and it is quite possible that our old system of law will undergo major transformation.

The bottom line is that for the next year and a half we need to think more locally and integrate the more positive traits of Sagittarius of honesty, craving for knowledge, adventurousness, optimism and independence into the north node traits of Gemini, which include adaptability, intelligence and sociability.

On May 7, 2020 we have the third Full Super Moon of 2020 in 17 degrees of Scorpio.  Super moons occur when the moon is extremely close to the earth in its orbit.  Full moons are always very emotional times, but a full moon in the highly sensitive water sign of Scorpio is bound to be even more emotionally intense.  Full moons are also a time of closure and revealing light on secret matters.  Scorpio is a sign that revels in research and digging deeply.  A full moon in Scorpio can indicate that light will be shed on issues of trust and betrayal.  Those secrets could also involve issues of sexuality and illicit wealth, as Scorpio is the sign of other people’s money.

We have two major aspects that are also featured in this full moon in Scorpio that involve Neptune in Pisces. Venus in 21 degrees of Gemini is squaring Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces, which could play out in a couple of ways: a yearning for love and social contact or unclear and foggy information being presented.  But the full moon in Scorpio is also forming a beneficial trine to Neptune in 20 degrees of Pisces, which will hopefully manifest in compassion, inspiration and unconditional love.  Don’t forget that Scorpio has tremendous courage and unrelenting focus.  It is a born survivor.  Astrologer Michael Lutin once said that if any sign could survive a nuclear holocaust, it would be a Scorpio.  I am banking on that, as this full moon is two degrees away from my sun and I am hoping that it brings some closure to my battle with the coronavirus, although the fatigue seems to linger. It is also forming a wide sextile to my Chiron in the 4th house, which gives me some hope.  But my doctor has told me to expect that the fatigue is the last symptom to leave.

If you are curious as to how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  I have recently revised my menu of services and am now offering a Saturn Pluto Conjunction reading for $25 which will offer you some insight and guidance into how this major astrological event that occurred on January 12, 2020 in 22 degrees of Capricorn will impact you.  It’s not too late to purchase this reading because its effects will be felt for most of 2020. It can be purchased through my site at:

I have also added a new reading to my menu of services, a Clues to Compatibility reading, which is designed primarily for non-romantic relationships and utilizes synastry to determine your connections with friends, family members and business associates. Additionally, I have also decided to offer private astrology lessons by telephone or video, such as Skype or Zoom.  Please feel free to contact me at lindasim54@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about astrology.

I have been doing more work with tarot readings, which I love, so I decided to create a new combination reading which offers the option of a 30 minute astrology consultation with a one question tarot reading for only $50. There is something for everyone and my menu of services can accommodate any budget.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.

I am also available for tarot readings by telephone.  I use the Celestial Tarot Deck, which I love because it contains so many astrological symbols.  A tarot reading is another great option for obtaining insight and clarity.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone!  Enjoy and reap the transformational power of this full moon in Scorpio!
