The Pisces Party Continues During the Aftermath of the Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse on March 8, 2016 in 19 degrees of Pisces is still being felt and that Piscean energy is ramping up its intensity.  On March 8th I posted two tweets on Twitter that seemed to resonate with a lot of folks.

“Powerful #solareclipse today in Pisces conjuncts Neptune.  What do you need to surrender to or release in your life to move on?”

“Saturn in Sagittarius squaring #solareclipse in Pisces today represents obstacles to be overcome for spiritual growth. Hang in for payoff.”

I don’t know about you, but I felt extremely emotional and somewhat anxious, but in a good way, about whatever changes this eclipse would bring to my life. That might very well be caused by Jupiter in Virgo, which is still conjunct the north node and its opposition to the eclipse.  I choose to interpret it that as an incentive to have faith that letting go will pave the way for more positive changes. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and that in itself is indicative of an ending on some level before a new era can be ushered in.  Pisces is all about surrender to a Higher Power and letting go so that we can experience more freedom and growth.  But Saturn was featured pretty heavily in this eclipse because of its square aspect.  We need to let go, but Saturn craves structure while simultaneously testing us to take a leap of faith.  At least it was a mutable square and not a fixed one; we need to be grateful for small favors.  But Saturn is also engaging in a square to Neptune which will be exact on June 17th.  Neptune’s veil is being pierced by the reality of Saturn in Sagittarius, the seeker of truth.

Pluto was not one to lie idle during this eclipse, either. It was in 17 degrees of Capricorn forming a favorable sextile to the sun and moon.  How sweet is that?  It’s like a cosmic boost from the universe cheering us on to ride the wave of transformation, no matter what obstacles Saturn throws our way.

Chiron in Pisces conjuncted the moon shortly after midnight on March 9th and this added fuel to the healing fires. It may have also led to some incredibly healing dreams as well.

Mercury in Pisces conjuncts Neptune on March 11th, empowering us to go even deeper in our spiritual quest for deeper realities. Intuition will soar.  And we can still anticipate the conjunction of Mercury to Chiron in Pisces on March 17th.  Then we can really heal those old wounds by communicating in a more compassionate manner.

Venus joins the Pisces party March 12th when it enters the sign of Pisces.  Venus is reputed to be exalted in Pisces because of its compassionate, forgiving, dreamy quality.  But it does have a tendency to long for the hard to reach or sometimes just plain unattainable things. Pisces is a dreamer and sometimes those dreams can be impossible, but you never know until you try.

That grand water trine the Pisces solar eclipse formed to my Cancer midheaven and Sun and Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house has helped to increase my business this past week, for which I am very grateful.  And so far, knock on wood, having a solar eclipse in my 6th house got me a clean bill of health on my annual physical.

Jupiter in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn, who featured prominently in this solar eclipse, are forming a nice little trine in 17 degrees of their respective sign on March 16, 2016. This augurs well for finances to improve on a global level.

On another note, I was reflecting this week on how the Downton Abbey finale on March 6th perfectly encapsulated the themes of the solar eclipse in Pisces.  I joined the Downton Abbey fan club a little late, in its 3rd season, at the urging of a couple of friends.  The Neptunian side of me (Neptune in Libra in the 1st house) quickly became addicted to the glamor and sense of escapism that it provided.  But as a Scorpio, I always sensed an underlying Plutonian theme to the show in terms of the characters trying to navigate the changing times.  The world saw massive changes between 1912 and 1926, which is the time period that the PBS show spanned.  Transformation (Pluto’s theme song) was unavoidable, although there were certainly many characters who did their best to try to cling to the old ways.

But by the final episode, several characters managed to let go of behaviors that no longer served them, take risks to overcome their fears and adapt to a rapidly changing world.  Sisters Mary and Edith let go of their toxic sibling rivalry and made amends to each other. Talk about a dose of healing Pisces energy! Their relationship was transformed in the process as it embarked on a healthier path.  Edith conquered her fear that telling the truth would cost her happiness based on past experiences when she told her future mother-in-law about her illegitimate daughter.  She wound up gaining her respect .and the marriage took place.  This was such a clear example to me of trusting in your Higher Power.  She took a leap of faith, and trusted her intuition.  Edith freed herself from her self-defeating behaviors and got her chance to be happy.  Even the Dowager Countess let go of her animosity towards her daughter-in-law Cora by telling her that she was doing a fine job as head of the hospital board, a position that she had previously held.  The Dowager still hinted that she’d like to be given the choice of going back, but even she knew she had to adapt to changing times.  Cora embraced change in her role as head of the hospital board.  This is just another emphasis on the healing energy that Pisces embodies.  Julian Fellowes managed to brilliantly depict the transformation of his characters and show the redemptive power of letting go of what no longer serves us.

Still Under the Influence of Virgo and Pisces Post Full Moon

In typical Neptunian fashion, we are still under the influence of the full moon in Virgo that occurred on February 22, 2016.  The Sun is still in Pisces and we continue to feel the effects of the Virgo/Pisces astrological weather trends.

Jupiter remains retrograde in Virgo and is currently conjunct the north node in Virgo, which automatically places it in direct opposition to the south node in Pisces.  Jupiter, which loves to expand and grow, is literally pushing us forward on our soul’s destined path.  But in order to move forward, we need to shed some karmic baggage. The baggage that needs to be released is symbolized by the south node in Pisces. So we have Jupiter and the north node in Virgo opposing the south node in Pisces and let’s not forget Chiron in Pisces.  Chiron is definitely a heavy hitter in this planetary lineup.  Chiron, aka the Wounded Healer, is featuring prominently because it is forcing our hand when it comes to healing old wounds.  Jupiter and the north node in Virgo have a strong healing theme. With Chiron currently in 20 degrees of Pisces, it is smack dab in the middle of the action with the nodes of the moon and Jupiter.  On March 10, 2016 the Sun in Pisces will catch up to the south node and Chiron while opposing both Jupiter and the north node in Virgo.  And this follows on the heels of a powerful solar eclipse in 18 degrees of Pisces on March 8, 2016.

But first we get another taste of that elusive Neptunian energy on February 28th.  We all know that Neptune rules Pisces, right?  On February 28, 2016, the Sun and Neptune will be conjunct in 9 degrees of Pisces. How will this aspect play out?  Well, at its highest level, it could stimulate spirituality, healing and the arts.  But it could also manifest in a veil of escapism, deception, and overlooking the obvious.  The 28th of February falls on a Sunday, which could lead many people to just engage in some major self-indulgence or escapist venues that characterize the theme of a lazy Sunday.  Personally, I think that is another Neptunian myth, because most people are utilizing Virgo energy on Sundays by doing errands and chores, but we all have the inherent inclination to want our Sundays to be a day of rest.

The Sun/Neptune conjunction in 9 degrees of Pisces falls in my 5th house of romance, children and creativity, which I find encouraging.  It also trines my south node of the moon in Cancer and Saturn in Scorpio, so there is potential for enjoying the arts and maybe even doing some spiritual work that holds potential for healing myself and others. But it also squares my Gemini moon, so there could be some emotional surprises or challenges that come to light on that day.  Or not come to light if someone tries to place me on the receiving end of some deception. It should be an interesting day no matter how it plays out.

The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services. If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

Mutable Moving Planets - Focus on Sagittarius and Pisces

This has been a rather difficult transitional week as the Sun winds up its last days in deep watery, fixed Scorpio before it enters the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius on November 22nd combining with a new moon in Sagittarius that also conjuncts Venus in Sagittarius. The emotional heaviness of Scorpio will give way to a lighter, more cheerful tone for the next month and a more carefree attitude will prevail, but beware of Neptune in Pisces. Neptune went direct in 4 degrees of Pisces on November 16th. Neptune direct has the ability to dissolve old structures that are no longer viable, but the lower manifestations of Neptunian energy include confusion, depression, victimhood and anxiety. We need to remember that the higher manifestations of Neptune's energy include imagination, compassion and empathy. I mention Neptune because while this new moon in 0 degrees of Sagittarius offers fresh perspective on the path ahead and infuses us with faith for the future (and who couldn't use that right about now), both the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius are squaring Neptune in Pisces. This can manifest as our dreams proving to be bigger than we can handle because Sagittarius is prone to exaggeration and doing things in a big way.

Transiting Saturn in Scorpio has not exactly been contributing to a life of the party feel this week, either. On November 18th, Saturn conjuncted the Sun in 25 degrees of Scorpio, inspiring me to tweet:

"Reality check today as Saturn in Scorpio conjuncts Sun for last time in 2 1\2 years. Last call for unfinished business."

Most people that I have talked to this week experienced this aspect as creating frustrations, irritations and delays in their lives. I was in the same boat myself. I rose early on that morning to attend an important meeting, but encountered delays on public transit, a store opening late requiring me to make a second trip and the water in my apartment being shut off for most of the day. Call me a control freak, but I like to be able to decide when I want to leave my dishes in the sink!

On the following day, November 19th, the moon in Libra was squaring Mars in Capricorn, so there was still a residue of irritation and tempers flaring. I tried to focus on the positive aspect of that day with the Libra moon sextiling Jupiter in Leo. On that day I tweeted:

"Libra moon sextiling Jupiter in Leo today is nice energy for enjoying the arts and social activities but don't overindulge."

How did that day play out for me? Well, a friend and I attended the Goya Order and Disorder exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts and then she treated me to a scrumptious, leisurely lunch at the museum's restaurant. Goya lived in a time of tumultuous social and political change and struggled with illness, dizzy spells and deafness. His work highlighted some very dark themes of war, death, illness, aging, violence and fantasies and nightmares of the insane. Hunting and bullfighting were also featured predominantly in his work. Over lunch my friend and I agreed that the show was very intense. I wouldn't exactly call it uplifting, but after my weekly meditation group that evening, I realized that for me personally the Goya exhibit was a metaphor for what the last days of the Sun in Scorpio felt like. So the universe had a plan in having me see that show on that particular day.

On November 20th Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio were at it again. On that day I tweeted:

"Venus in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces today can add tones of deception, escapism and delusion to relationships today."

I was also blown away by Michael Lutin's quote "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" on his site, www.michaellutin.com that day. He went on to say:

“When Saturn lies between the balsamic Moon and Sun, it can seem pretty scary. You can get the all too real experience of being cut off from your own core. There's a stone lying between you and your emotions and it can seem empty. Actually it is only during this day or two when you need the most patience and quiet to recharge your very drained battery. Some people love this period, because they can finally get away from everybody. Others panic and feel trapped, and freeze, and that can be dangerous. Actually, it is only within this kind of darkness that intimacy and creativity are born. So hunker down, go inward and wait for the magic to happen. It always does."

This really hit home for me because transiting Saturn in Scorpio is currently squaring my natal Pluto in Leo. This transit manifests as a very difficult time with many obstacles on my path. I know that I need to detach (I swear that is the hardest lesson of my life) and conserve resources as I strive to eliminate the unnecessary elements in my life.

Saturn will give us one last hit of its rather depressive energy when it conjuncts Mercury in 25 degrees of Scorpio on November 25th.  But as a special Thanksgiving treat on the 27th, Mercury enters the sign of Sagittarius. And don't forget that Chiron goes direct in 13 degrees of Pisces on November 23rd, so healing is indeed possible. It's time to go with the flow of these mutable Sagittarian and Piscean planets.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

If you are feeling confused during these challenging times, please consider getting an astrological reading to obtain more insight and assistance. I have also added a one question astrology reading to my list of services for $40 that is an even more intuitive approach based on your natal and progressed charts with transits to both.

Retrograde Planets, Pisces and the Healing Power of Dreams

The current Mercury and Neptune retrograde transits have afforded me ample opportunity to experience healing through my dreams. I know that last week I commented that Neptune retrograde would probably intensify my dreams because I have Neptune in the 1st house on my ascendant, but it just dawned on me this week that my Neptune forms an out of sign conjunction with Mercury in the 1st house. And everybody knows that Mercury is also retrograde. As in DUH? How could I not expect to have intense dreams? And to sweeten the pot, Chiron in Pisces stations retrograde at 17 degrees of Pisces on June 20th.

I found myself referring to Lisa Zimmerman's quote on Mercury Retrograde from her 2013 piece entitled The Hidden Value of Mercury Retrograde: "Mercury retrograde is a blessing imposed by the Universe, when it is time to slow down, check in with yourself, re-prioritize your life and get quiet to gain clarity and go with the flow. Don't fight it and try to swim upstream -rather, focus on being in the flow."
I don't know if I would go so far as to call Mercury retrograde a blessing, as it is definitely out of my comfort zone, but it certainly does give one pause for thought. In keeping with the tone of that missive, I tweeted on June 16th: "Trying to make the best use of Mercury retrograde by gathering info and getting rid of stuff I don't need."

I also turned to astrologer Pam Younghan's Northpoint Journal for guidance on Chiron. It seems like just yesterday that I was extolling the virtues of Chiron going direct to accelerate the healing process, but it stationed direct on November 19, 2013 at 9 degrees of Pisces. A lot has happened in my life since November and I can honestly say that the healing process has been quite painful on many levels.  Pam Younghans describes Chiron's upcoming retrograde as an opportunity to go more deeply into a spiritual healing process and trust that our lives are unfolding as they should, even if we are unsure of the outcomes. She also reminded me that Chiron in Pisces has themes of boundaries and control. Those are two big issues for me right now. Pisces is renowned for its compassion, yet if taken too far can result in servitude and martyrdom. It's a good time to release unhealthy patterns and bring everything into alignment with our ideals. Release work is a big theme which is reinforced by Mars in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries forming a T-square.

Chiron in Pisces continues to square my moon in Gemini in the 8th house and one of the ways it is manifesting for me is to do release work on patterns of fear surrounding power struggles and confrontations. Since Neptune went retrograde on June 9th, my dreams have literally entered another dimension and I wake up mornings with the distinct sense of having traveled back in time to revisit my past and the source of those wounds.

On June16th I had some very unsettling dreams which prompted me to tweet on June 17th: "Very strong dreams last night involving fears of being manipulated and literally treading water. Thank you Mercury and Neptune retrograde!" Was this Mercury's swan song in Cancer?  Retrograde Mercury entered the sign of Gemini on June 17th.  And the moon entered the sign Pisces on June 17th at 2:26 p.m.  The compassionate, empathetic feelings that Pisces engenders were definitely felt by others.  Check out what one of my Twitter friends tweeted on June 17th:

Tonight flood gates of intuitive awareness will be wide open. Messages will be pouring in by oceans. Remember your dreams tomorrow :)

I can honestly say this tweet was prophetic for me.  On June 18th I tweeted: “Early morning Neptune moon conjunction in Pisces brought me a dream of healing past wounds by connecting with certain people.”  In my dream I visited, of my own volition, some folks who had hurt me and we hugged at the end of the dream.  It was a powerful experience of forgiveness, which doesn’t come easily to a Scorpio!  So it looks like I am actually experiencing healing through my dreams!

But June 18th was a much, lighter carefree day with Venus in Taurus sextiling Jupiter in Cancer.  These two planets like to party and have fun, so the mood was much more upbeat.  I got my hair done, did some shopping and got invited to a garden party this weekend.  The previous day I had been commiserating with another Scorpio friend and she expressed her belief that that things will improve for Scorpios in August.  By August Jupiter will be in the sign of Leo, Saturn will be direct and Uranus will be retrograde.  I don’t have that much of a problem with Uranus retrograde, perhaps because I was born with it.  I didn’t know whether to believe my friend on the 17th, but by the 18th I was starting to believe it.  Maybe Saturn in Scorpio trining the Pisces moon gave hope that we could manifest our dreams.

Also, on June 18th I read my Daily Horoscope app on my smart phone for Scorpio and it really resonated for me.  It said: “Some long-term endeavor has turned out to be much harder than you thought it would be.  You have given it your best-as you always do, Scorpio – and yet your best is not reflected in your progress.  Maybe it’s you.  You are probably starting to second-guess yourself and question your talents, and your skills and your ability to actually make that happen.  But you are tough.  If you hang in there just a little bit longer, you will get a glimpse of what is possible – and it will impress you.”

Obviously, at the very least I am opening up to getting some positive reinforcement from paying attention to signs from the universe after a frustrating period of attempting to build my business. That Venus Jupiter sextile on June 18th was a boon for our spirits and on June 19th I tweeted that “Pisces moon trining Jupiter today lends dreamy, self indulgent quality which continues the tone of yesterday’s Venus Jupiter sextile.”

All I can say is pay attention to your dreams, folks and heed the signs that the universe is providing.  Both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces are providing all of the tools we need for healing and spiritual growth.   And don’t forget to enjoy the Summer Solstice on June 21st when the Sun enters the sign of Cancer at 6:51 a.m. Summer’s coming!

Prelude to the Eclipse

The upcoming lunar eclipse in 25 degrees of Libra on April 15th has earned the moniker of “Blood Moon” because it ushers in a Lunar Tetrad.  A tetrad is four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons). The dates of these blood moon eclipses are April 15, 2014, October 8, 2014, April 4, 2015 and September 28, 2015.
In Biblical times it was referred to as the end of the world in Joel 2:31in the Common English Bible with this prediction: “The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood before the great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.”

Is the world coming to an end?  NO WAY!   I don’t buy into that.  It may be the end of an outworn way of life and the old order of business, but in my book that is a good thing.  We are just experiencing some severe growing pains.  We survived the last lunar tetrad in 1967-68 and lived to tell the tale of changing times.   In June 1967 Israel fought the Six Day War and regained control of Jerusalem for the first time in nearly 2000 years.  We all know that the 1960’s was a time of immense change and many astrologers are comparing today to the 1960’s.  What is the thread that links the current time to the 1960’s?  Well, back in the 1960’s, Uranus and Pluto were conjunct in Virgo.  And now we are dealing with the Uranus in Aries/Pluto in Capricorn square.  When Uranus and Pluto tangle, there is upheaval.  Period.  You cannot avoid it, so don’t even try.  At one point this week, I tweeted that the only way out is through. The Uranus Pluto square also triggers the Grand Cardinal Cross later this month, so change is inevitable.  Personally, I think the biggest challenge with this energy is the ego resistance.  We have to release our expectations of how things should turn out and ride the wave of change, no matter how uncomfortable that may feel.  That is no mean feat!

How has this energy been playing out so far?  Well, on April 8, 2014, the Sun in Aries opposed  retrograde Mars in Libra.  On the following day, April 9th, news broke  of the high school student who went on a stabbing spree with kitchen knives in Murrysville, Pennsylvania that injured 22 people.  The chart for the time of the stabbings revealed that the Sun, Uranus, Mercury, Juno, the ascendant and the south node were all in Aries. The Sun and Juno were opposing Mars.  It is a sad commentary that we are almost used to hearing about shootings in April, but this is the first stabbing.  Stabbings are much more personal than shootings.

I have also heard about lot of people having health problems: women having miscarriages and other gynecological health issues in addition to car accidents.  April is one dangerous month and it’s not even half over. People are seriously stressed out these days.  Astrologer Jeff Jawer tweeted that “The Sun opposite Mars has brought out the knives, yet cutting through the limits of ourselves is healthier than attacking others.”  Sage advice.  A far more productive use of this energy is to focus on our own personal goals without harming others.  I can personally attest to the veracity of that statement.  The eclipse on April 15th will be conjuncting my Neptune and I truly feel that the only way I have maintained a modicum of sanity in recent weeks has been through my Reiki work at the clinic, and doing my astrology and tarot readings.  It has been my saving grace.  I certainly have my issues and wounds to deal with now as transiting Chiron in Pisces squares my moon in Gemini, but by focusing on giving others the tools to heal, I am being healed as well.  Transiting Jupiter in Cancer is our secret weapon in this cardinal energy configuration.  Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and supplies the faith we need to get through this challenging period.

Pluto will turn retrograde in 13 degrees of Capricorn on April 14th and will remain retrograde until September 23, 2014.  Pluto retrograde forces us to reexamine shaky structures and relinquish power.  It is all about regenerative activity and is an optimal time to reflect on change and transformation.  The key to handling this transit is to be flexible.

As for the buildup to the eclipse, retrograde Mars in Libra will be its closest to the earth on April 14th, the same day that Pluto goes retrograde.   I am never comfortable when both Mars and Pluto are retrograde, as I think it increases the likelihood of violence.  The lunar eclipse in 25 degrees of Libra will also conjunct the north node, so we can expect changes in the direction of relationships.

But we have yet another secret weapon to support us through this lunar eclipse.  Venus and Neptune are conjunct in Pisces on April 11th at 10:23 p.m.  The themes of this aspect are forgiveness, compassion in relationships and heart healing.  How sweet is that energy!  Rely on it to keep you strong through the weekend and the eclipse.
