This is the week in July that the universe has been waiting for. Astrologers have long been predicting that the second half of July would usher in a new world order. It is called the Barbault Basket, named after the French mundane astrologer Andre Barbault who studied groups of outer planets and how they formed configurations to forecast global shifts. He called it the planetary cyclical index. These planets involved Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. He died in 2019 after predicting that 2020 would bring a reset in humanity involving another pandemic. How can we forget the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn back that occurred in January 2020 and resulted in a lockdown during March 2020? The Barbault Basket is referred to as the most important transit of this century. It is activated from July 15-24, 2026.
The planets involved are Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius. They are all in 4 degrees of their respective signs. Planets in fire and air signs tend to create movement and momentum. We are talking trines and sextiles with an opposition from Jupiter in Leo to Pluto in Aquarius. This actually started on July 15 when Uranus in Gemini formed a supportive sextile to Neptune in Aries. A door could have opened and a real breakthrough might have emerged to give us more freedom.
On July 18 Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius and we will feel the effects of this transit through July 21, 2026. Power and progress are working together, which is a huge change from the Uranus-Pluto squares of 2012 when everything seemed to be crashing down in our world.
The focal point of this basket happens on July 20 when Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius. Jupiter represents belief, optimism and faith while Pluto is all about transformation and power. Jupiter is the fastest moving outer planet for global influence. With Pluto in Aquarius there will be a huge emphasis on networks, technology and communities. Leadership is symbolized by Jupiter in Leo facing off with Pluto in Aquarius, which wants to restructure how power moves through groups and infrastructures. I would be remiss if I did not state that this can lead to power struggles on the world front...
Jupiter in Leo is also trining Neptune in Aries on July 20. This can manifest as ideological missions with some potential for manipulation of the masses, as in cults. But it does help us to think outside of the box though.
On July 21 Jupiter in Leo will be forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in Gemini. This can deliver insight and sudden unexpected good luck. We are craving positive changes in life and freedom.
The important thing to remember is that all of these planets are in 4 degrees. This is quite a historical lineup and if you have planets in 4 degrees, pretty much in any signs, but especially in fire and air signs, you will definitely feel the impact of this lineup. While the Jupiter-Pluto opposition is the driving force of this basket, don't forget those supportive sextiles and trines involving Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Aries.
This new world we are headed into probably be won't be the smoothest ride, but it began under very harsh and austere conditions back in 2020. We are just beginning to turn a corner from leaving that old world behind for good, so try to have a little grace, patience and resilience as we find our way forward.
The Sun enters Leo on July 22, 2026. The energy is fixed fire, more proud, playful and creative. We want to shine, be admired and have fun. Our self-confidence is at an all-time high. The Sun rules Leo, so it's a very happy camper now. Let that inner child out to play now.
On the following day, July 23, Mercury goes direct in 16 degrees of Cancer. It has had a particularly long retrograde, as it stationed in 26 degrees of Cancer on June 29. It's been especially moody and emotional in the cardinal water sign of Cancer. If you have been reflecting on the emotional roots of your thoughts and patterns, you are not alone. Childhood memories have literally come home to roost. Mark your calendar for July 23 to be a day of rejoicing! Just be advised that while communication and transportation snafus should start to lift, Mercury officially clears its retrograde shadow on August 6, 2026 when it hits 26 degrees of Cancer.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client. I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed.
