The Sun Enters Aries and Mercury Goes Direct in Pisces

 

Happy Astrological New Year!  The Sun enters Aries on March 20, marking the start of another astrological new year and the first day of Spring.  With the Sun in the cardinal fire sign of Aries,

we are embarking on a high energy period which encourages us to take action, be more courageous, ambitious, spontaneous and independent.  We are also inclined to be more impulsive, impatient, enthusiastic and competitive.  We can be quite direct now too, which is a marked change from the Sun in Pisces. That mutable water energy was pretty hard to pin down.  Living in the moment is our mantra now.

Mercury is also going direct in 8 degrees of Pisces at 3:33 p.m. after having been retrograde since February 26, when it stationed retrograde in 22 degrees of Pisces.  We can start to experience more clarity, less misunderstandings and problems with transportation.  The Mercury retrograde shadow period began on February 11 and it doesn't fully clear its retrograde shadow until April 9 when it hits 22 degrees of Pisces.

This Mercury retrograde in Pisces has caused a lot of people to deal with water issues.  I had to have a drain replaced in a sink because it was leaking.  I know that other people had roofs leaking and flooding due to the weather.  Another manifestation of Mercury retrograde in Pisces is dreaming about or actually hearing from people in our past.  I have had extremely vivid dreams regarding people from my past and I have been hearing similar stories from clients too. Mercury remains in Pisces until April 14, but we should start to experience some relief.  Just be mindful that it can feel a little unsettling for 2-3 days around the station (either direct or retrograde) of a planet and we will all be fine.

The Sun in Aries is very busy during its first week.  On March 22, the Sun and Neptune are conjunct in 1 degree of Aries.  This aspect has a theme of visionary action with a proactive approach to dreams.  This is actually the first time the Sun and Neptune have been conjunct in Aries since 1862.  The United States was undergoing the Civil War back then.  We might be feeling like we are supposed to start something now.  The Sun, the planet of identity and ego, is merging with Neptune, the planet of dissolution, imagination and transcendence.  This is quite a spiritual cocktail.  In fact, our interest in the spiritual world is bound to be stimulated.  Careful planning to attain our dreams is key.

On March 25, the Sun and Saturn meet up in 4 degrees of Aries.  Be prepared to face extra responsibilities on this day.  We can feel tested and life might feel hard.  The structures in our lives will require attention.  There can also be setbacks or challenges from authority figures when the Sun and Saturn are conjunct.  But this does afford us the opportunity build more self-reliance.  And if we have been working hard, we just might get some rewards for our efforts.  I have this aspect natally in Scorpio in my chart, so I know it well.

The Sun in Aries is also forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in 4 degrees of Aquarius on March 25.  This aspect  increases our need to succeed and empowers us.  Determination and sense of purpose are strong now.  Any obsessive or compulsive tendencies that we have can be chaneled to complete challenging tasks. Energy levels will be high, as is our resilience to bounce back from adversities.  So enjoy the energy transfusion that the Sun in Aries will provide.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mercury Goes Direct, Venus Enters Sagittarius and a Super Full Moon in Gemini

 

Save the day of November 29 because it will be a day of rejoicing: Mercury will FINALLY station direct in 20 degrees of Scorpio after having been retrograde since November 9, when it stationed retrograde in 6 degrees of Sagittarius.  Communication will get back on track and delays will start to fade away. This might have been a briefer Mercury retrograde than usual at 20 days, but I personally think it was the toughest Mercury retrograde of 2025 and I have been hearing that from many other people.  

When Mercury stationed retrograde in Sagittarius, people were acting more irrationally and reacted with a tendency to make demands.  Retrograde Mercury moved back into Scorpio on November 18, which had a tendency to trigger bouts of paranoia.  Major themes of Mercury retrograde in Scorpio involved speaking our truth and delving deeply into past emotional patterns that are still affecting.  Obviously, the signs of Sagittarius and Scorpio bore the brunt of this Mercury retrograde, but the remaining fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius as well as the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo and Pisces took a hit too. Retrograde Mercury in Scorpio was opposing Uranus in Taurus on November 19, which was quite intense and could have played out as electrical malfunctions.  I know that I had my share of electrical outages during this Mercury retrograde.  And when Mercury stations direct on November 29, it will be one degree away from my Sun in Scorpio in my 2nd house, so I know that something heavy will go down.  Mercury will move back into Sagittarius on December 11 and will clear its retrograde shadow on December 16 when it its 6 degrees of Sagittarius.  But the bottom line is that there is light at the end of the tunnel...

Venus moves into Sagittarius on November 30 and remains in the mutable fire sign until December 24.  It will be much lighter than Venus in Scorpio laser-focused intensity that is characterized by a desire for freedom, spontaneity and optimism.  Truth and seeking a higher meaning in life will take a front seat now, as will socializing, a craving for excitement.  Adventure rules.  But we can also be inclined to take more risks financially when Venus is in Sagittarius.

On December 4, we have a Super Full Moon (very close to the earth) in 13 degrees of Gemini. This one is chock full of mutable energy: the Sun, Mars and Venus are in Sagittarius, the Moon is in Gemini, Saturn and Neptune are in Pisces, while the North Node is in Pisces and the South Node is in Virgo.  Mutable planets are very adaptable, flowing and chameleon like but they tend to make us feel everything is all over the place.  On the plus side, we are more able to go with the flow.

Our dreams will probably be very heightened on this Full Moon.  The house of the chart that it falls in will undoubtedly bring some closure or completion.  This Full Moon is conjunct my natal Moon in Gemini in my 8th house, so this will be a big one for me.  The sign of Gemini is ruled by Mercury, so it should be very active and social media could be quite busy.  This can also denote a crossroads for many people with a karmic choice to be made that releases us from the old order.   The Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Gemini are squaring the Nodes in Pisces and Virgo, creating a mutable Grand Cross, reinforcing the theme a major decision.  The South Node in Virgo indicates that we might need to release some daily habits or health issues.  Relationships and finances could have major implications with the Moon in Gemini opposing Venus in Sagittarius.  The fact that the Sun, Mars and Venus are in Sagittarius illuminates the big picture and our dreams.  Trust my words that secrets will come to light on this Full Moon.

August Heats Up with a Full Moon in Aquarius, Mercury Goes Direct in Leo and a Venus-Jupiter Conjunction in Cancer

 

We have a super-charged Full Moon in 17 degrees of Aquarius coming up on August 9, 2025.  Mars recently entered sibling air sign Libra on August 6 and it's already been very busy.  Mars in Libra trines Uranus in Gemini on August 8 and also opposed Saturn in 1 degree of Aries on the same day.  Mars trining Uranus can lead to breakthroughs but its opposition to Saturn can slow us down and make us question the structures in our lives. Mars opposing Saturn while trining Uranus can make us feel like we are raring to move forward, but we keep getting pulled back.  It's a classic one step forward, two steps backward motion which can be very frustrating.

The major theme of a Full Moon in Aquarius is how to balance our individuality with the need to contribute to the collective.  That's a pretty big order to fill these days.  On the Full Moon we also have Mars in Libra opposing Neptune in 1 degree of Aries.  Our dreams and faith are being tested with the potential for confusion and exhaustion.  Patience is needed as we deal with the back-and-forth motion of Uranus, Saturn and Neptune interacting with Mars.  There are real obstacles and roadblocks, so it's going to take some time to get the results we want.  Don't be in denial about it.

This Full Moon in Aquarius is falling in the end of my 4th house and is in a three-degree separating orb from my Mars in Aquarius.  So there is absolutely no way that I am escaping the tension of this one....

Mars in Libra will be trining Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius on August 10, which will give us a boost of energy and sense of empowerment. It also means that we have received a Grand Trine in Air since Mars entered Libra on August 6: it trined Uranus in Gemini on the 8th and now on the 10th it trines Pluto in Aquarius.  I have a natal Grand Air Trine involving my Libra Ascendant, Moon in Gemini and Mars in Aquarius, so I can attest that this is very positive.  It's good stuff, so take advantage of whatever opportunities present themselves to you.  One thing I can tell you is that you really need to do something when opportunity knocks.  It's quite literally a case of when you snooze, you lose otherwise.

On August 11, Mercury finally stations direct in 4 degrees of Leo.  I don't know about you, but this has been one brutal Mercury retrograde.  I think that the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio bore the brunt of it.  Mercury has been retrograde since July 18, but it entered the shadow period on June 30.  It will clear its retrograde shadow on August 25 when Mercury is in 15 degrees of Leo.  But we can rejoice in the fact that things will get back on track with communication, transportation and with electronics.  The chaos and drama are starting to recede.

We have one really beautiful and lucky aspect to look forward to on August 12.  Venus and Jupiter (aka the Benefics) are conjunct in 14 degrees of Cancer on that day.  Good fortune, love and abundance could be coming your way on this day when these two planets meet up.  Don't forget that Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer.  This is a day to plant the seeds for our desires to be fulfilled.  I am looking forward to it because this conjunction is five degrees away from my Cancer Midheaven and trining both my Sun and Jupiter in Scorpio. Enjoy the day and prepare to reap the bounty of these two planets converging...

A Kinder, Gentler Vibe This Week with Sextiles, Trines and Mercury Direct

 

We are finally getting a break this week from the March madness and I am not talking about basketball.  In March we had two eclipses on top of Venus and Mercury retrograde in Aries and Pisces.

The positive aspects really kick into gear on April 4.  Saturn in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 24 degrees of Taurus.  This is truly a saving grace aspect for constructive changes.  Saturn and Uranus are not exactly the best of friends; they were squaring each other in Aquarius and Taurus during 2021 and 2022. Saturn represents the old guard, the status quo and authority while Uranus is all about the future, change and rebellion.  Sextiles provide us with opportunities that must be taken.  If we don't take advantage of the opportunities that sextiles provide, the old adage "if you snooze you lose" applies. The bottom line is that we will actually have the ability to have the past and future work together.  The old structures can work with that revolutionary urge to create the foundations for a better future. We get to experience this aspect two more times: on August 11, 2025 when Saturn is in Aries and Uranus in Gemini.  Both planets will be in 1 degree of their respective signs.  On January 19, 2026, Saturn will be back in 27 degrees of Pisces and retrograde Uranus will be in 27 degrees of Taurus. The planets Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are teasing us this year with previews of their forays into the signs of Aries and Gemini before they settle in for the duration in 2026.

Mars in Cancer is also sextiling Uranus in 24 degrees of Taurus on April 4.  This aspect should increase our desire for fun and excitement.  Mars isn't terribly comfortable in Cancer, so it can be a tad defensive in radical expressions of force, but it also encourages us to take risks.  So feel free to go for it...

Also on April 4, Mars in Cancer is trining Saturn in 24 degrees of Pisces.  Mars and Saturn aren't best buddies either, so it is a welcome change when these two planets are functioning on a cooperative level.  Trines are even luckier than sextiles because they just seem to bring good things to us.  Mars trining Saturn is perfect for tackling difficult tasks because we have more strength, ambition and perseverance. We are more focused and can work in a controlled manner.

The Sun in Aries is forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 16 degrees of Gemini on April 6.  This is an extremely positive vibe that brings opportunities for hope, optimism and good luck.  It can also deliver material or spiritual growth.

Venus in Pisces is trining Mars in 25 degrees of Cancer on April 6 as well.  This can be a boon for our love life as it reveals our softer, more tender side.  It also stimulates creativity.

On April 7 we have some really good news, quite literally.  Mercury stations direct in 24 degrees of Pisces after being retrograde since March 15 in 9 degrees of Aries. This has been a really grueling Mercury retrograde because it began in Aries with hot tempers and backtracked into Pisces on March 29, which tended to muddle and obscure communication even more.  If you felt like you were in a fog, having Mercury retrograde move into Pisces on a Solar Eclipse is the culprit.  It certainly didn't help matters having Mercury retrograde during eclipse season. Mercury retrograde is always irritating, but eclipses and Venus retrograde add to the mayhem.  Mercury will be direct on April 7, will move back into Aries on April 16 and will clear its retrograde shadow on April 25. But we can start to experience some relief in communication, transportation and electronic matters starting on April 7.  

Venus in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 25 degrees of Taurus on April 8.  This can make us crave fun and excitement, as well as the potential for good luck with finances.  It is associated with windfalls and can also attract new romantic partners if we put ourselves out there.

The astrological landscape will change next week with a Full Moon in Libra on April 12, but more on that in my next post. Feel free to enjoy the relatively calmer weather this week while it lasts...

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Full Moon in Gemini and Mercury Goes Direct in Sagittarius

 

Mark the day of December 15 on your calendar, folks.  There are two major astrological events occurring on this day.  We have a Full Moon in 23 degrees of Gemini at 4:02 a.m. and Mercury goes direct in 6 degrees of Sagittarius at 3:56 p.m.  Ironically, Mercury started the year 2024 retrograde in Sagittarius and stationed direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius on January 1, which was the degree it stationed retrograde on November 25, 2024.

A Full Moon in Gemini is going to give us lots to think about because Gemini loves to learn, think and talk.  Communication is its thing and big reveals are possible. But this Full Moon is squaring Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces, so we could wind up feeling confused or inspired. Or maybe a little bit of both. The Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Gemini are involved in a mutable T-square with Neptune in Pisces. This pretty much guarantees a great deal of mental stress on December 15.  We can be overly influenced by the opinion of others.  This is what I call a mutable mash because in addition to the mutable T-square involving the Sun, Moon and Neptune, we also have Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Gemini.  We can quite literally be emotionally all over the place and feeling rather unstable.  The mutable signs are Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius, so if you have any planets between 23 and 27 degrees of these signs, you will really feel this Full Moon big-time.  The saving grace of mutable signs is that they are adaptable and can go with the flow, so count on this to get you through the day.

Don't be surprised if this Full Moon in Gemini feels like an information overload.  Jupiter in Gemini loves to expand whatever it touches, and in this case it is information.  It can difficult to discern the truth with this mutable T-square.  The Sun in Sagittarius is also forming an irritating inconjunct to Uranus in 24 degrees of Taurus, which will increase our need for freedom and authenticity.  It is a very rebellious vibe.  Neptune in Pisces is a heavy hitter in this Full Moon too.  It can generate more compassion as well as confusion. But the perk of Neptune in Pisces during this Full Moon is that we should pay attention to our dreams and our intuition.  Neptune in 27 degrees of Pisces is also widely conjunct the North Node in 2 degrees of Aries, which can help us make our dreams a reality if we make the effort.

Mercury will station direct in 6 degrees of Sagittarius on December 15 and it will be trining Mars in 5 degrees of Leo. Mars is retrograde, which occurs every two years.  Mercury trining Mars is an energizing influence and can deliver urges for adventure, a vacation and just plain escapism.  I don't know about you, but I am very happy that Mercury is finally going direct.  Of course, when a planet stations, either direct or retrograde, its power is magnified.  So we can pretty much expect a great deal of news to be circulating on this day.  And keep in mind that while Mercury is officially direct, it doesn't clear its retrograde shadow until January 2, 2025 when it hits 22 degrees of Sagittarius.  I am beginning to wonder what the significance of 22 degrees of Sagittarius is to the year 2024.  I mean, we began the year in that degree.  I don't personally have anything aspected, but it might be very interesting if anyone reading this had planets in the mutable signs around 22 degrees.  Food for thought...

On December 19, we have a really delightful aspect that fosters the holiday spirit.  Venus in Aquarius is exactly trining Jupiter in 14 degrees of Gemini.  Jupiter is conjunct my Moon in Gemini in the 8th house, so I wonder what it will have in store for me. The trine between Venus and Jupiter (known as the benefics) has themes of optimism, good cheer and love.  It emphasizes socializing, can mend relationships and is quite favorable for shopping.  So take advantage of this day and use it wisely to purchase any gifts that you need to or attend a party.

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! Venus and Mercury on the Move as Mercury Goes Direct and Venus Enters Libra

 

What a week this has been!  Hopefully all of you have survived the Full Moon in Aquarius on August 19, when I posted:

Venus is still in Virgo until August 29 and it makes a couple of major aspects before it departs.  The first is on August 27 when it trines Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus. Trines are pretty nice and I happen to have this aspect natally, so I can personally attest to that.  When Venus is trining Uranus, we are likely to have the urge to try something new in life, either in romance, creative endeavors or our hobbies.  It's a perfect time for socializing and perhaps meeting someone new if you are unattached.  It can also pave the way for a financial windfall.

On August 28, Venus in Virgo will be opposing Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces. This aspect can create deceptions or illusions in relationships or finances.  Be mindful not to be too gullible or trusting because we are likely to fall victim to predators now who will take advantage of our good nature.  Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true.  A more constructive way to deal with this aspect is to engage in a more spiritual approach to life by engaging in some soul searching, meditating or just plain enjoying the arts.

The best thing about the date of August 28 is that Mercury stations direct in 21 degrees of Leo.  Mercury has been retrograde since August 4, when it reversed course in 4 degrees of Virgo.  I don't know anyone who doesn't agree that this has been one tough Mercury retrograde, especially with the recent Full Moon in Aquarius which Mercury in Leo opposed.  And it's always more complicated when a Mercury retrograde occurs in two signs.  We will start to feel some relief in matters related to communication and transportation.  And hopefully our electronics will start functioning normally again. Just remember that Mercury doesn't clear its retrograde shadow until September 12 when it hits 4 degrees of Virgo.  Mercury moves back into Virgo on September 9 and remains in Virgo until September 26.  But Mercury rules Virgo and is very comfortable there.

Venus moves into its happy place of Libra on August 29, where it stays until September 22.  Venus rules Taurus and Libra, so it is definitely in a better state.  Love is in the air as partnerships take on more of a priority in our lives.  It is a time to be fair and make whatever compromises are necessary to keep peace and harmony in our lives.  We also find it easier to cooperate with others.  And we could also find ourselves preoccupied with beauty and style.  So it is definitely a good time ahead.

Venus in Libra will be trining Pluto in Aquarius on the 29th, which can add intensity and passion to our relationships in a good way because it focuses on the joy piece of the equation.  Remember it's a trine, not a square or opposition.  We might feel compelled to splurge on some luxury items but we can also find new ways to increase our cash flow.

We are definitely getting a bit of a respite after an extremely volatile month, so make the most of it, everyone!
