The Squares Continue with Mars in Sagittarius Squaring Neptune in Pisces, the Sun in Sagittarius Squaring Saturn in Pisces and Mars Enters Capricorn

Are you still standing from the Mars-Saturn square of December 8?  It was not an easy day for me, especially since I am one of those people who are born with that aspect. Talk about frustration, delays and getting nowhere fast.   But on December 14, Mars in Sagittarius will be squaring Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces, so the squares are not over by a long shot.  At least Neptune is direct at last.

What can we expect from Mars in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces?  The themes of confusion, self-deception, lies, guilt, low energy and passive aggressive behavior are all rampant.  Addiction could rear its ugly head and the potential to be victimized is also possible.  Our immune systems could be compromised, so don't hesitate to get any health concerns checked out.  It can be a time of spiritual crisis, but also keep in mind that things can seem worse than they really are.  Just be careful on this day...

On December 16, the Sun in Sagittarius is squaring Saturn in 25 degrees of Pisces.  This marks another day of being tested and challenged.  We can be prone to pessimism and depression.  This is not a day to shirk responsibilities. Like it or not, we need to cultivate patience, determination and a strong work ethic.  Slacking is not an option on this day.  We need to be self-disciplined even if isn't fun as the Sun squaring Saturn represents a major reality check time.

We do get some help on December 15 when Mars enters Capricorn until January 23.  Good news, Mars is exalted in the sign of Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn.  The Mars in Capricorn transit will assist us in accomplishing our goals because it is a very effective Mars for producing results.  When Mars is in Capricorn, we are more ambitious, hard-working and driven to succeed.  We should feel a boost in energy and momentum after last month and the recent retrogrades. We will be doing things with purpose and Mars in Capricorn is also quite helpful in terms of securing finances. We can expect a boost in confidence and assertiveness.  Mars in Capricorn is more focused than Mars in Sagittarius, which tends to be all over the place and motivated by the big picture.  Dare I say that we might feel like we have more control over our actions and our lives when Mars is in Capricorn?

I can't promise you that the challenging square aspects are over (more to come next week), but we do have a strong and empowered Mars to energize us in the days to come and that is nothing to sneeze at.  Let's be grateful for this cosmic blessing.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and Mars are on the Move as We Blast into the New Year

 

Prepare to get unstuck as we move towards a new year.  2024 is coming and the planets are moving forward.  We had a Full Moon in Cancer on December 26 and Chiron stationed direct in Aries as well on that day, inspiring me to post:

On December 29, Venus departs Scorpio to frolic in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius.  It stays in Sagittarius until January 23, 2024.  When Venus is in Sagittarius, it is a much lighter vibe than Venus in the intense fixed water sign of Scorpio; it is up for romantic adventures and taking a chance on love.  It is a party sign, for sure.  Sagittarius is associated with finding the truth and we could find ourselves having some brutally honest conversations or some confessions could emerge as the truth spills out.  Don't expect much commitment in love while Venus is in Sagittarius though, because Sagittarius also loves its freedom and space.

Jupiter stations direct in 5 degrees of Taurus on December 30 after having been retrograde since September 4.  This will bring an enormous sense of relief as we feel freer to dive deeply into different belief systems.  It is time to implement the insight we have obtained since September, when Jupiter stationed retrograde in 15 degrees of Taurus.  It will be easier to achieve financial gain and a sense of security too.  Many people have really felt unable to move forward during Jupiter retrograde and it is really encouraging to end the year with Jupiter direct guiding us forward with an expansive influence to start 2024.  It's like Santa Claus came a little late, but at least he arrived!

On January 1, 2024, Mercury will station direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius.  It has been retrograde since December 13, 2023 when it stationed in 8 degrees of Capricorn.  Happy New Year!   I am sure that I am not the only one who thinks that this has been one tough Mercury retrograde, especially falling in the holiday season.  Mercury is not all that comfortable in Sagittarius, but its direct motion is bound to be an improvement as we find it easier to process information more easily.  Mercury will return to Capricorn on January 13 and then it will be even better as we are more practical and realistic.  Mercury will finally clear its retrograde shadow on January 20 when it hits 8 degrees of Capricorn.  That is also the day that the Sun and Pluto are conjunct in 29 degrees of Capricorn before they enter Aquarius, so we can literally consider that to be a real kick start to the year 2024.

There is yet another planetary change afoot.  On January 4, 2024, Mars leaves Sagittarius and enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn until February 13, 2024.  Mars is a very happy camper in Capricorn.  Cardinal signs love to initiate and Mars in Capricorn is brimming with ambition and likes to act with purpose and hard work to accomplish great feats.  We are motivated by goals and want to achieve great things.  We also have the persistence to go the distance.  If you haven't set any New Year's resolutions yet, this is the perfect day to do so.  The shadow side of Mars in Capricorn is a tendency to be rigid, but otherwise we should feel invigorated.

I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, one of the latest variants of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

A Productive Week Ahead with the Sun Conjunct Saturn and a Busy Mars in Capricorn

 

Saturn in Aquarius has definitely been calling the shots lately in case you haven’t noticed.  We did have a New Moon in 12 degrees of Aquarius on February 1 but it was not as invigorating as many of us would have preferred due to that New Moon’s conjunction to Saturn in 15 degrees of Aquarius.  Progress in implementing new goals seemed hard to come by.  That is the secret to Saturn: it makes you work hard to get what you want and tests you like crazy.  On February 1 I tweeted:

The #NewMoon and Saturn are conjunct in Aquarius today indicating that we will need to work hard at creating some structures in our lives to implement change. It won’t be easy but it’s worth the effort. #astrology

On February 4, the Sun and Saturn form an exact conjunction in 15 degrees of Aquarius.  This aspect will force us to be realistic, be disciplined and face our responsibilities as our challenges are amplified.  It demands that we exercise some patience, which these days seems to be in short supply.  And oh yes, we will have to work hard to achieve what we want.  When the Sun is conjunct Saturn our shadow side can rear its ugly head too, frequently in the form of depression and pessimism. The best way to deal with this energy is to put our nose to the grindstone, simplify and declutter as much as possible.  I am no fan of this aspect, as I have it natally in Scorpio with a seven degree orb.  I have never felt that anything comes easily to me in life and have felt responsible all of my life.  I suppose this is good, but I confess that at times it can be exhausting and contribute to being somewhat judgmental.  But now is not the time to slacken up.  We finally have a brief window of time until April 29 when all of the planets are direct, so we need to make the effort to move forward and make some effort.

But Mars in Capricorn is forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 7 degrees of Pisces on February 4 as well.  This is a very positive and auspicious aspect because it fosters bravery, courage to pursue our passions and the ability to take calculated risks.  Mars in Capricorn is a real work horse.  It also helps us to take the initiative because we are feeling stronger.  It’s also an aspect that requires physical action, so make sure that you move on this day.  Exercise will only enhance that feeling of physical strength and well-being.  This can help mitigate the harshness of the Sun-Saturn conjunction.

On February 6, Mars in Capricorn will be forming a challenging square to Chiron in 9 degrees of Aries.  This can trigger some frustrations and anger if we are feeling controlled but we can heal if we nurture that insecure inner child within us.  So don’t trash this aspect because it brings a valuable opportunity for healing.

Mars in Capricorn is providing us with more opportunity on February 8 when it trines Uranus in 11 degrees of Taurus.  This is when the magic could literally happen if we are open to action.  It is a time to take steps in transforming our lives into something different and unconventional.  Our instincts are accurate and we should be able to find the courage to take risks.  It is so much nicer when Mars is trining Uranus rather than squaring it, which tends to cause accidents if we take too many risks.  This trine will reward our actions, so make the most of it.

The Sun and Mercury Meet Up in Aquarius and Mars Enters Capricorn

The coming week is relatively quiet astrologically after this past week, which featured Mercury stationing retrograde on January 14, a Full Moon in Cancer on January 15 and Uranus stationing direct in Taurus on the 18^th coupled with the Nodes of the Moon moving into Taurus and Scorpio on the same day.  Then the Sun entered Aquarius on January 19. On January 18 and 19 I tweeted:

The action this week revolves around the Sun and retrograde Mercury being conjunct in 3 degrees of Aquarius on January 23, 2022.  I don’t know about you, but I am definitely feeling this first Mercury retrograde of 2022 big time.  Almost every package I was expecting this week has been delivered to the wrong address and my computer and phone have experienced more than their fair share of malfunctions.  I was really beginning to wonder if this post was going to get written.  Of course a major factor in these travails is that Mercury retrograde is in Aquarius, which is associated with electronics.

What can we expect when the Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Aquarius?  Well, there will be an emphasis on technology and humanitarian efforts.  We will also see a focus on thinking, communication and short distance travel.  We can find ourselves sharing ideas that are very progressive because let’s face it, Mercury in Aquarius is very smart and innovative.  Just remember to carefully review everything that is said because Mercury is in trickster mode when it is retrograde.

On January 24, Mars departs the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius for the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn.  Mars is actually considered to be exalted in Capricorn because it is more ambitious and is inclined to act on its impulses in a constructive manner.  Mars will remain in Capricorn until March 6, 2022.  When Mars is in Capricorn, we are motivated to be more deliberate, persistent, level-headed, reliable and realistic.  This is a very powerful placement for Mars because Capricorn is renowned for being hard-working.  We have a prime opportunity to set clear goals and pursue them.  Just be mindful of the shadow side of Mars in Capricorn: a tendency towards blind ambition, and rigidity. This is a real mover and shaker transit that can be quite productive, so make the most of it.

On January 25, retrograde Mercury slips back into Capricorn and we can find ourselves communicating in a more practical and organized tone.  But it is important to remember that while Mercury in Capricorn is realistic that it can very easily drift into pessimism if we are not mindful.  And with Mercury being retrograde, we can find ourselves going back into our old rabbit holes… Mercury will station direct in 24 degrees of Capricorn on February 3 and will re-enter Aquarius on February 14 for Valentine’s Day.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine.  If you are eligible for a booster shot, get it. The Omicron strain of the virus is spreading like wildfire these days.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! A New Moon in Pisces is Heavily Influenced by Retrograde Mercury and Neptune in Pisces

Mercury is officially retrograde as of February 16, 2020, when I tweeted:

I don’t know about you, but I am already feeling the effects of Mercury retrograde big time.  I have already experienced a Lyft ride that took me miles away from my destination because the driver claimed his GPS was telling him to go one way when I told him the other way and a package that was not delivered on time.  Fortunately both situations were satisfactorily resolved; I got home later than I had anticipated and my package was ultimately delivered 12 hours later than the tracking indicated.  But this is the kind of thing we can expect when Mercury is retrograde in the mutable water sign of Pisces, renowned for its nebulous quality. 

On February 23, 2020, we have a new moon in 4 degrees of Pisces.  New moons are considered to be a cosmic opportunity to set new intentions and start a new chapter in our lives.  But a new moon in Pisces can be simultaneously delightful and tricky.  I was watching Penny Thornton’s latest YouTube video about the new moon in Pisces and I couldn’t agree with her more about a Pisces new moon being a “psychic reboot” and a time of “psychic housekeeping”, to use her words because Pisces is the 12^th sign of the zodiac and is associated with the 12^th house, which is the unconscious mind.  It is indeed a time for processing what is occurring in our lives and with a new moon in Pisces, some of that processing could manifest through dreams and sudden insights.  Most people would agree that it feels like things are very weird these days and out of control as we watch things slip away.

Retrograde Mercury in 10 degrees of Pisces and Neptune in 17 degrees of Pisces are conjunct on the day of the new moon.  So this will be one very Neptunian new moon.  We may experience events that feel very synchronistic and we might find ourselves running into people from our past because Mercury retrograde has a way of bringing back people from our pasts. When Mercury and Neptune are conjunct, we can be very sensitive, intuitive, and psychic but we can also be elusive and evasive with deception possible.  Trust me on this one because I have Mercury and Neptune conjunct natally in my 1^st house of self.  And this new moon falls in my 5^th house and trines my Mercury in Scorpio.  So I anticipate that I will be feeling even more intuitive and creative during this new moon.

One important takeaway from this new moon is to remember that there is a reason that things are unfolding as they are, uncomfortable as it may feel.  We need to faith in the process and trust in it because panic is counterproductive.  Quite literally, the only way out is through.

The new moon on February 23^rd features a lot of Pisces energy with the sun, moon, Mercury and Neptune all in Pisces, but it also features a great deal of Capricorn energy.  Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all in Capricorn.  Water and earth are actually very compatible.  The Pisces planets represents our soul energy while the Capricorn planets represents our physical drive and need for grounding.  Neptune is invisible and its shadow side can lead to addiction, while Saturn is practical and needs order and structure.  Of course the shadow side of Capricorn energy can lead to too much control.  I’d like to float the idea that perhaps some of us need to set new resolutions on this new moon that involve setting boundaries.  The perfect use of this Pisces and Capricorn energy is to make our dreams a reality.  Mars in Capricorn is a real boon for this.  While many people associate Mars being strong in Aries and Scorpio, it is actually exalted in the sign of Capricorn.  It entered Capricorn on February 16, 2020, inspiring me to tweet:

Mars enters Capricorn today until 3/30/20. We are able to act in a more deliberate and stable manner when Mars is in the sign of its exaltation. It’s a boon for accomplishing goals. #astrology

On the day of the new moon, Mars in 4 degrees of Capricorn will be conjunct the south node in 6 degrees of Capricorn.  This may play out as feeling compelled towards old patterns, but we need to remember that the south node also represents karmic baggage that we need to release and integrate into the qualities of the north node in Cancer.  So we should take the high road and become more gentle, nurturing and compassionate towards others.
