Mercury and Venus Change Signs While Neptune Goes Direct

 

We are coming off an intense Full Moon in Gemini that occurred on November 27, when I posted:

I hope you all survived it because Mercury in Sagittarius was also squaring Neptune in Pisces on that day.  The big news now is that Mercury moves into Capricorn on December 1 and stays there until December 23.  But we do have a Mercury retrograde that starts on December 12 in 8 degrees of Capricorn.  Mercury is stationing retrograde right on my North Node in Capricorn in my 3rd house, so this one should be interesting, to say the least...Mercury moves back into Sagittarius on December 23 and stations direct in 22 degrees of Sagittarius on January 1, 2024.  Happy New Year! Mercury moves back into Capricorn on January 13, 2024 and stays there until February 5, 2024.

What can we expect when Mercury is transiting the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn? Our ideas are more realistic, practical and down-to-earth when Mercury is in Capricorn.  Thinking and communication can be more methodical and rational.  We will definitely be more direct in our style of communication, but not in the blunt style of Mercury in Sagittarius. However, Mercury in Sagittarius will return in time for the holidays.  But the shadow side of Mercury in Capricorn is a tendency towards rigid thinking, pessimism and an authoritarian style of getting our point across.

Venus, the other planet that travels so closely to the Sun, is getting ready to change signs too.  It makes one last major aspect when Venus in Libra squares Pluto in 28 degrees of Capricorn on December 3.  Venus rules Libra and is very comfortable there, but there is no doubt that Venus squaring Pluto is a challenging aspect. Venus squaring Pluto can see us questioning our worth in relationships while it is accompanied by struggle, conflict and control issues.  I can personally attest to the fact that is a tough aspect because I have it natally with my Venus in Scorpio squaring Pluto in Leo.  Venus has a bit of an edge and more power when it is in Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn, so don't be surprised if there is a rebalancing of power in relationships on this day.

On December 4, Venus moves into Scorpio and stays there until December 29, 2023.  Venus is considered to be in detriment in Scorpio because Venus rules Taurus and Libra.  It will be a big change from Venus in Libra.  Venus in Scorpio is not into lightweight dating and craves deep, passionate and intense relationships.  Profound intimacy is the end game with Venus in Scorpio.  Be prepared for a roller coaster ride in your love life while Venus is cruising through Scorpio. The perk of Venus in Scorpio is that it can be good for finances, as Scorpio is associated with other people's money and the 8th house. 

Neptune stationed retrograde in 27 degrees of Pisces on June 30, 2023 and it will finally go direct in 24 degrees of Pisces on December 6, 2023.  It you have any planets from 24-27 degrees of the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius, you probably felt this transit the most intensely.  I also think that if you have planets in these degrees of Cancer or Scorpio, you received a trine aspect from this transit and also felt it to some degree.  Personally, my Venus in Scorpio and Uranus in Cancer (both of which are retrograde to boot) got this transit.

When Neptune was retrograde it was a period of confusion, introspection and spiritual exploration.  It could have been a time of engaging in massive self-care.  Neptune being direct can give us more clarity after five months of digging deep.  We should have more empathy and compassion available to extend to others.  It can also be a time to manifest our dreams.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Venus in Libra is on the Move and Neptune in Pisces Takes Some Hits

 

Venus has been in the balance-seeking air sign of Libra since September 29 and it has already been quite busy.  On October 9 we had a Full Moon in Aries that opposed Venus in Libra and on that day I tweeted:

Today’s #FullMoon in Aries is opposing Venus in Libra and conjunct Chiron in Aries which can actually help us release old emotional wounds if we have the courage to face them. #astrology

Venus in Libra is trining Saturn in 18 degrees of Aquarius on October 14.  This is actually quite a positive aspect because it lends a steady and sensible approach to relationships.  It affords us the opportunity to share our thoughts and feelings with those we care about. Another perk is that we will probably find it easier to be vulnerable.  I think that is carrying forward the energy of the Full Moon that was conjunct Chiron in Aries and allowed us to feel vulnerable enough to access those wounds.

Venus in Libra makes three more pivotal aspects during the coming week, but before it does, the Sun in Libra is inconjunct Neptune in 23 degrees of Pisces on October 15.  This aspect is not nearly as comfortable; we are bound to feel somewhat overwhelmed and sense that we are unable to meet the demands of life.  Low energy is also possible on this day.  Situations can appear hazy and it could be a wake-up call to take off the rose-colored glasses and make some adjustments to accept reality.  

Neptune in Pisces gets another wake-up call on October 17 from Venus in 23 degrees of Libra.  This one is going to require some very difficult emotional adjustments, as we could be experiencing some confusion in love or finances.  There is strong potential for deception in relationships and financial transactions.  Don't forget that Venus is not just about love, beauty and the arts--it has to do with our money.

We get a brief respite on October 18 when Venus in Libra is forming an exact trine to Mars in 23 degrees of Gemini.  This aspect can accelerate our desire for social contact and enjoyment of life.  It also stimulates our creativity and increases our chances of finding the perfect partner.  So hold that date if you are looking for love...

On October 20, Venus in Libra will be forming an exact square with Pluto in 26 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a tough one, I kid you not.  I have a natal Venus-Pluto square in the signs of Scorpio and Leo, so I have lived with this intensity all of my life.  Power and control issues will surface in relationships, mark my words. Watch out for manipulative behaviors; jealousy, obsession and possessiveness can rear their ugly heads.  Threats and ultimatums are also likely with this aspect, but that doesn't mean that they are the solutions to whatever problems emerge. It's also possible that you could meet someone new that you feel a powerful instant attraction towards, but I wouldn't take it to the bank in terms of the potential for this becoming a healthy, long-lasting relationship.

If you have been feeling like life is a roller coaster, and you don't know what to expect next, the explanation is that we are entering eclipse season.  I will cover the first of the upcoming two eclipses next week, but we are already in the thick of it.  Most of us felt it kick in during the Full Moon in Aries on October 9, but just know that a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on October 25 and a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on November 8 are going to rock your world and deliver massive changes.  I loved what Anne Ortelee advised in her Weekly Weather on YouTube: either go with the flow or hang on for dear life. She said that either option works.  Personally, I am experiencing an astrological deja vu of the notorious Uranus-Pluto squares that occurred between June 2012 and March 2015.  I think that I did a little bit of both during those Uranus-Pluto squares to come out to the other side. This was a time of serious transformative upheaval that hadn't happened since the Uranus-Pluto squares of 1932-1934.  Obviously I wasn't around back when Uranus was in Aries and Pluto was in Cancer in the 1930's but I know enough history to realize that the world was dealing with the Great Depression, the invention of the atomic bomb and the rise of Adolph Hitler. And I sense that the upcoming eclipses will deliver more upheaval and transformation.  Stay tuned...

A Powerful New Moon in Aries and Venus Enters Taurus

We are heavily entrenched in the season of Aries, which became even clearer on April 3 when Mercury entered Aries, joining the Sun, Venus, Ceres and Chiron.  On that day I tweeted:

The major astrological event of the day is Mercury entering Aries tonight. Communication is about to get more impulsive, direct and passionate with more spontaneity. #astrology

I don’t know about you, but I noticed the change to Mercury in Aries immediately.  For me it has been manifesting in sudden bouts of anger.  Okay, I admit that when the cleaning person broke my lamp and I contacted her boss with a photo of the broken lamp shade pieces it was justified, but I was uttering some choice words before I breathed and texted her. She has agreed to compensate me financially for it, so it all worked out.

The aspects were fairly mellow this week after Mercury entered Aries, until April 9 when Mars in 21 degrees of Gemini squares Neptune in 21 degrees of Pisces. This aspect is not going to be fun, folks.  It will be rife with confusion, deception and manipulation.  I loved what astrologer Pam Gregory said about Mars square Neptune: “aggression at sea.”  I certainly hope that she is wrong, but it is an apt interpretation. It doesn’t help that the Moon in Pisces is conjunct Neptune. That is kind of a double whammy if ever I saw one.  I have Neptune in the 1^st house conjunct my ascendant, and I love to extoll the spiritual qualities of Neptune, but I think that we might be hard pressed to find them with this aspect, as it tends to dissipate energy.  Just be kind to yourself and keep your expectations for productivity low on this day.  It also seems that there is news about COVID-19 whenever Neptune is aspected.

But the New Moon in 22 degrees of Aries on April 11 will be akin to a gun being fired at the start of a race to set things in motion quickly. Big decisions will be made. I mentioned earlier that a lot of this action is due to the fact that the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Venus, Ceres and Chiron are in Aries.  Action is a major theme of this New Moon. 

When the Moon is in Aries, we are more courageous and a New Moon that just happens to be conjunct Mercury in Aries supplies the courage to take more risks and say what we are feeling.  The Moon enters Aries on April 10 and on that day it conjuncts Chiron in 5 degrees of Aries, so there is a strong likelihood that we will be getting in touch with some old emotional wounds for the purpose of healing them.  Pluto in Capricorn is a heavy hitter in this New Moon.  Venus in 26 degrees of Aries is squaring Pluto on April 11 and this aspect will generate tension, conflict, control issues and obsessive-compulsive behavior.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square, so I am all too familiar with what it entails.  It could also bring up issues with a third party in and highlight triangles in relationships.  But it does have a way of weeding out toxic habits and perhaps ending relationships that no longer serve us. It is a pretty safe bet to predict that there will be lots of emotional intensity and themes of freedom, independence, safety and security will be rampant.

Pluto in Capricorn is very busy on a decluttering mission for the first half of April. The Sun in Aries will be exactly squaring Pluto on the 13^th and Mercury in Aries will be squaring Pluto in Capricorn in mid-April.  When the Sun is squaring Pluto, we will be dealing with control issues and ego conflicts.  It’s important to remember that we need to let go, let the transformation occur and reclaim our inner power.  Mercury squaring Pluto will bring intense interactions with others and we could find ourselves communicating in a very defensive manner. But we are releasing toxic thoughts that need to go.

All is not lost with this upcoming New Moon, however.  We have some very positive aspects occurring.  The New Moon in 22 degrees of Aries is forming supportive sextiles to Mars in 23 degrees of Gemini and Jupiter in 25 degrees of Aquarius.  These sextiles supply energy, luck and foster expansion of our goals.  And Mars in Gemini and Jupiter in Aquarius are trining each other, which provides energy for our visions of the future and Jupiter expands our courage to pursue those dreams.  These are definitely bright spots on the New Moon and we should focus on those while we are setting new intentions, which is what we should be doing on a New Moon.

On April 14, we have an astrological treat in store for us when Venus leaves Aries and enters one of its happy places, Taurus.  Venus is exalted in Pisces, but it rules Taurus and Libra, so it is right at home in Taurus and eminently comfortable. Just in case you hadn’t noticed, Venus is not the happiest camper in Aries.  When Venus is in Taurus, it is more sensual and seeks security and values that will go the distance.  We will also feel more emotionally grounded.  But we can be torn between spending money on our love of luxury versus saving.  And the shadow side of Venus in Taurus is possessiveness.  Venus will remain in Taurus until May 8, so enjoy the ride.

I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Super New Moon in Libra Helps Us to Set Some New Intentions to Achieve Balance in Relationships

Libra season is in full force these days and it became official on September 23, 2019 when the sun entered Libra.  On that day I tweeted:

The sun joined Mercury and Venus in Libra.  On September 28, 2019, we will have a Super New Moon in 5 degrees of Libra. It’s called a super new moon because the moon is in very close orbit to the earth and that makes its influence even more potent.  This new moon is centered on many of the traditional Libra themes of justice, rebalancing extremes and obtaining more harmony in relationships. 

But this new moon has some very intriguing aspects involved that supply an added emphasis and oomph to the relationship theme.  For starters, the sun and moon in 5 degrees of Libra are opposing Chiron the wounded healer in 3 degrees of Aries.  This opposition to Chiron can activate a healing process or even a crisis.  It may very well require that we release our fears of not being good enough.  It could provide a powerful opportunity to heal some longstanding wounds in relationships.

The sun and moon in Libra are also forming an inconjunct to Uranus in 5 degrees of Taurus.  Since Uranus is the planet associated with sudden upsets, an undercurrent of rebellion could rise to the surface very suddenly.  We could find ourselves craving freedom big time if we have felt the least bit stifled in our relationships.  And since the inconjunct is the aspect that pretty much demands adjustments in order for the planets involved to co-exist, we may have to make some compromises as we reevaluate our priorities in existing relationships. 

The aspects that this new moon makes to both Chiron and Uranus are compelling us to move forward spiritually.  Chiron in Aries pertains to healing our own wounds around identity and Uranus in Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus, can deliver some new insights into healing old relationship issues.  This will be an action packed new moon because we have six planets in cardinal signs: the sun, moon, Mercury, and Venus in Libra in addition to Saturn and Pluto and Capricorn.  Cardinal signs love to initiate action, which is a big change from the Virgo season of mutable energy, which can at times be so confusing that it is hard to make any discernible progress.

There is also a very karmic feeling to this new moon in Libra courtesy of Saturn in 14 degrees of Capricorn conjunct the south node of the moon.  It can be a time of getting what we have earned for past efforts.  Something from the past could resurface to literally tip the relationship scales or some relationships could end if they have run their course.  Saturn has a way of testing us and removing outworn structures that no longer serve our best interests.  Saturn in Capricorn has been squaring Venus in Libra since September 25^th and while this is definitely a testing aspect, it can help us to be more realistic about relationships and perhaps set some much needed boundaries.  I know that I personally will be feeling the karmic nature of this new moon as it falls in my 12^th house and squares my north node in Capricorn and south node in Cancer.

Pluto in Capricorn isn’t letting us off the hook with this new moon either.  We will be feeling its influence due to an approaching square from Venus in Libra that is exact on October 1, 2019 in their respective signs.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square, so I am all too familiar with the havoc this aspect can wreak.  Venus square Pluto can trigger feelings of jealousy and possessiveness.  Obsession is its theme song.  Mercury in 22 degrees of Libra is also squaring Pluto in 20 degrees of Capricorn on the new moon, which can generate quite a bit of intensity, manipulation, jealousy and control issues on its own.  So communications could get a little heated on this new moon.

Mercury Retrograde in Aries

Mercury entered the sign of Aries on March 6, 2018 and isn’t leaving until May 13, 2018 because it stationed retrograde on March 22, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:

This is a ten week transit of Mercury in Aries and when Mercury is retrograde in a fire sign it can be even more challenging because fire signs are known to be more blunt and impulsive in their communications.  And we have quite a posse of planets in Aries these days: Uranus is winding down its transit in Aries before it enters Taurus on May 15, 2018, Venus has been in Aries since March 6, 2018 and the Sun entered Aries on March 20^th, when I tweeted:

What can we expect when Mercury is retrograde in Aries?  In addition to the usual cautions about signing contracts or buying a house or electronic goods, Mercury retrograde in Aries carries the added potential for getting into an argument from receiving the wrong information.  Mercury in Aries is fast talking and impulsive and speech tends to lose its filters when Mercury is in Aries because it wants instant gratification. And there is also the danger of making rash decisions that we might later regret.

The Aries energy is particularly volatile during the first weekend of Mercury retrograde.  On March 23, 2018, Venus in 16 degrees of Aries is forming a very challenging square with Pluto in 21 degrees of Capricorn which can definitely wreak havoc on relationships.  Venus in Aries is very me oriented, passionate and wants what it wants NOW.  Pluto in Capricorn is very much into power and this aspect (which I have natally, so I am all too familiar with its pitfalls), so when these two planets in cardinal signs square off, the themes of passion, obsession and power struggles run rampant.  Relationships might very well be put through the ringer under the influence of this aspect.

The volatility ramps up a notch on March 24, 2018 when the sun in Aries forms an exact square with Mars in Capricorn in 3 degrees of their respective signs.  This will certainly stimulate passion but the sun square Mars (another aspect that I have natally) is tense energy that requires constant action or can become easily frustrated.  A creative or physical outlet is key to resolving the fiery willpower and competitive spirit that accompany this aspect. Sun square Mars has a high energy, “me first” vibe about it. The fact that it is occurring with the sun in Aries is exacerbating the volatility of the aspect.  Sun squaring Mars in cardinal signs is frequently accompanied by impulsiveness and short tempers.  So the Mercury in Aries retrograde energy of impulsive energy is being fueled by both Venus in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn and the Sun in Aries squaring Mars in Capricorn.

Despite the fact that the sun is no longer in Pisces, Neptune is still in Pisces and Chiron is concluding its transit of Pisces, set to enter the sign of Aries on April 17, 2018.  Chiron in the last two degrees of Pisces is forcing a lot of people to deal with their existential pain and grief these days and one way of dealing with the retrograde Mercury in Aries is to try to be a little more sensitive and compassionate towards others.  Please try to think before speaking and empathize with the collective pain that seems to be so pervasive these days.

Otherwise, just remember the re in retrograde and use this time period to review, renegotiate and research any matters in your life that require major decisions before implementing any major changes.  That is truly the best way of surviving the transit of Mercury Retrograde.
