The sun will
enter the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn on December 21, 2018 at 5:23 p.m. on
the east coast of the United States and this marks the official start of winter,
or the Winter Solstice. The sun appears
to be standing still and this day will be the shortest day and longest night of
the year. The sun in Capricorn has a
very different vibe from the sun in Sagittarius. When the sun is transiting Capricorn, it is
time to get more serious, set boundaries, make a business plan and take care of
your teeth and bones because Capricorn is ruled by Saturn.
We do have some
pretty sweet astrological aspects on December 21st to help us deal
with the lack of sunlight. Venus in 13
degrees of Scorpio is trining Neptune in 13 degrees of Pisces and this adds
themes of love and harmony to the day.
It also favors healing and releasing darker emotions so that we can
experience more emotional and spiritual intimacy.
Mars in Pisces
has been a key player in activating the healing theme that has been prevalent
and will continue through the end of 2018.
On December 17, 2018 Mars in Pisces was sextiling Pluto in Capricorn,

Mars in Pisces
has also been involved in a conjunction to Neptune in Pisces for much of
December. This aspect can play out in a myriad
of ways: if we take the high road, we can direct our energy into a more
spiritual practice and act with more compassion. But the darker side of a Mars
Neptune conjunction can also manifest in more scandals and secrets coming out.
Mercury and
Jupiter are conjunct in 9 degrees of Sagittarius on December 21, 2018. If nothing else, this aspect should give you
a boost of holiday spirit because Jupiter literally is the Santa Claus of
planets, magnifying anything it touches.
It has a very inspirational vibration and can be overly optimistic. It can lead to overindulging or a tone of self-righteousness,
but overall it is a delightful aspect to be occurring during the holiday season.
On December 22,
2018, we have a powerful full moon in 0 degrees of Cancer. This full moon will pack an emotional punch
because, let’s face, it, the moon is in its own sign of Cancer and there is
bound to be a great deal of emotional sensitivity, strong emotions, moodiness,
and sentimentality accompanied by a need for security. Feelings will come to a head and there could
be widespread global implications as well.
The theme of nurturing others is highlighted, especially with the north
node currently in Cancer. And Mars is
also conjunct Chiron in Pisces, which further fuels the theme of healing others
that has been pervasive during the month of December. It’s certainly an ideal way to end 2018,
which has been a pretty turbulent year for many people.
There is also a
great deal of cardinal planetary energy involved in this full moon. In addition to the sun, Saturn and Pluto in
Capricorn, the moon is in Cancer and Uranus is in Aries. With a preponderance of planets in cardinal
signs, this is a perfect time to initiate things. Get moving and strike while the iron is hot to implement any plans you have been considering.

The moon will be in Leo on Christmas, having entered Leo on December 24,
2018 at 11:59 a.m. on the east coast of the United States. It will be trining
