Prepare to Surrender for Maximum Healing as Mars Retrogrades

I think that many of us are still reeling from the effects of the Aries New Moon of April 7th in 18 degrees of Aries.  It had quite a buildup earlier in the week, especially on April 6th when the Sun in Aries squared Pluto in Capricorn.  On that day I tweeted:

“Aries sun squaring Pluto in Capricorn today has the potential for major power struggles.  Past conflicts could reemerge.”

I know that I have been pretty emphatic recently about how change is coming and that we need to embrace it. But the Sun Pluto square on April 6th also set off the infamous Uranus Pluto square of 2012-2015, so issues of control are bound to surface.  Uranus will also play its part in triggering the Uranus Pluto square on April 9th when it conjuncts the sun in Aries.  Those seven squares ruled the astrological climate for the first five years of this decade, and their effects are not going away anytime soon.

I think that I finally had an AHA moment this week when I realized that as much as I want change, I have no power to control how it will manifest in my life.  And that is one tough lesson to learn. I don’t do unpredictable very well, and a preponderance of planets in fire signs, especially a new moon in Aries aspecting both Uranus and Pluto tends to rock my fixed Scorpio core.  Saturn in Sagittarius was prominently featured in this new moon because it trined that new moon.  Trines are easy, flowing aspects, so it was definitely a good thing.  Saturn’s grounding influence should allow us to adapt to the massive changes that are coming a little easier.  But Saturn is also known for its delays and its endless need to test our faith.

During the past week I have sensed a general slowing down of energy in my business.  I am still getting inquiries, but people are taking their time to consider what I have to offer them. This is not a new occurrence and in the past people have subsequently booked either Reiki sessions or astrology and tarot readings after an initial inquiry.  I’m trying not to take it personally, as I am well aware that Mars will be stationing retrograde on April 17th. It stations retrograde in 8 degrees of Sagittarius and winds up back in Scorpio on May 28th.  Mars stations direct in 23 degrees of Scorpio on June 29th and reenters Sagittarius on August 3rd.  The Mars retrograde is in my 2nd house, so no wonder I am feeling this way.  My values in addition to my finances are already feeling the hit. We all know that planets tend to slow down before the retrograde actually occurs which encompasses the shadow period.  When Mars stations direct in August it conjuncts my Venus in the 2nd house, so I expect that I will reap the harvest then.  I have implemented some changes in the services that I offer but I was very mindful to do so before Mars retrogrades.

Mars only retrogrades every two years, so it literally is a big deal when it happens.  What are the themes of Mars retrograde?  Well, the most important thing to remember is that when Mars is retrograde it tends to deplete vitality, so it is definitely not a good time to initiate new ventures.  Mars retrograde also cautions against buying anything mechanical if you can help it.  So don’t be surprised if computers break down or office machinery malfunctions.  Since Mars rules both Aries and Scorpio, these signs and anyone with planets in these signs will feel the effects.  But I would surmise, based on my own personal experience of coming to terms with the need to slow down and reassess, that Aries and Scorpio natives will find themselves having a little more patience to wait on circumstances, sitting back and reviewing matters in a more detached way.  This is where the concept of surrender comes into play.  It’s time to slow down and reevaluate so that healing can occur to pave the way for change.  There will be plenty of time and a sense of renewed vitality to initiate changes when Mars stations direct this summer.  If you don’t have a lot of Aries or Scorpio energy in your chart, conversely, you may feel more impatient to force matters to a conclusion.  This is NOT a wise move because if you do, things may fall apart.

Healing is very much on my mind these days because I am also attending a Celebration of Reiki conference on April 10th.  The moon will be in Gemini that day and I am looking forward to some lively conversation with a diverse group of healers.  I am certainly open to learning new things about Reiki and the healing process.

I would also like to include a post that resonated big-time for me from fellow astrologer Robert Ohotto’s site www.ohotto.com

“Healing has to be understood as a verb:

It is a constant process of retrieving our spirit from where it has been frozen, locked in a time warp, then releasing it into the moment, and that’s when you recover.”

Healing is a big component of my soul’s path and after undergoing a challenging Chiron square transit to my moon during the last couple of years, I am now able to feel more empowered by having transiting Chiron in Pisces trining my natal Venus in Scorpio and sextiling my natal Chiron in Capricorn for the next couple of years.  So I do think that Robert Ohotto definitely captured the zeitgeist of the current astrological climate.

Hello to Aries,Spring and A Lunar Eclipse

The month of March 2016 has been quite astrologically active so far and shows no sign of ceasing its activity anytime soon.  We had a super moon solar eclipse on March 8th in 19 degrees of Pisces and this week we had Pluto in Capricorn trining Jupiter in Virgo on March 16th.  On March 16th I tweeted:

“Jupiter in Virgo trining Pluto in Capricorn today gives us a big boost in terms of empowering us to attain our goals.”

Many of us are still processing that first eclipse on March 8th.  A major theme of that eclipse was letting go of the old.  This was doubly emphasized by the fact that it was a south node eclipse (old karmic baggage) in the sign of Pisces, which is the last sign of the zodiac.

The Sun will enter the sign of Aries on March 20th and it signifies the vernal equinox, which is the beginning of Spring.  It is also the beginning of the astrological New Year.  There is a lot going on astrologically on March 20th.  Neptune, Chiron, Venus, Mercury, the south node, and Ceres are still in Pisces, so we are being given yet another opportunity to heal old patterns of helplessness and powerlessness.  Venus and Neptune are actually conjunct in 10 degrees of Pisces on March 20th, which is pretty sweet in terms of amplifying the themes of compassion, forgiveness and unconditional love.  The only caveat with this aspect is not to be too idealistic, which both Neptune and Pisces share as calling cards. This comes on the heels of a week in which many of us may have had to face some pretty hurtful truths.  The phrase “no pain, no gain” was especially relevant this week.  It’s been a pretty weird time energy wise, this period between eclipses.  I have had my share of painful revelations about family, which shouldn’t surprise me because I do have Chiron in the 4th house. And Chiron is a pretty heavy hitter these days astrologically.  But I have been hearing similar stories from friends and clients as well.

So the next major astrological event is the lunar eclipse on March 23rd in 3 degrees of Libra.  The sabian symbol for 3 degrees of Libra literally means “The Dawn of a New Day Reveals Everything Changed.”  This is a great way of reminding us that eclipses don’t necessarily have to be all gloom and doom; they can bring wonderful opportunities. I can personally attest to the effects of the solar eclipse on March 8th that formed a grand water trine with my Sun and Venus in Scorpio in my 2nd house and my Cancer midheaven because my business is increasing and I am finding new opportunities to share Reiki.  Last weekend I made a house call to an existing Reiki client and I have also begun sending distant healing to other clients.  I am also including shorter astrological forecasts as part of my services.  Many of my clients purchase solar returns for a yearly tune up, but for those of you who can’t wait for your birthday, I can also do forecasts for three or six months.  So my world is expanding!  Feel free to contact me at lindasim54@gmail.com if you are interested in any of these options.

Mercury will be conjunct the Sun in Aries on March 23, 2016, so don’t be surprised if you wind up reevaluating your friendships as a result of this eclipse.  Relationships are bound to change as a result of this lunar eclipse which falls in the relationship oriented sign of Libra.  The lunar eclipse on September 27, 2015 occurred in 4 degrees of Aries, so these two eclipses are in direct opposition to each other.  We might be facing similar issues in our lives now that could reach a final resolution during this eclipse.

We are also under the influence of a mutable T-square in the form of Jupiter in 16 degrees of Virgo squaring Saturn in 16 degrees of Sagittarius on March 23rd with a wide opposition to Neptune in 10 degrees of Pisces. Jupiter is already retrograde and Saturn stations retrograde on March 25th.  The themes involved with this astrological configuration which will persist through August 2016 include chaos, order, turbulence, tension, global economic meltdowns and more issues with refugees.  It certainly reflects the current political climate.

The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services. If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

Sunday Bloody Sunday- Super Blood Moon Eclipse

Is the world coming to an end on Sunday, September 27th at 10:51 p.m. with the total lunar eclipse?  This is a rare event, the first super blood moon eclipse since 1982 and the 4th in a series of blood moon eclipses that began in April 2014.  Historically, blood moon eclipses have been associated with powerful changes, endings and beginnings.  Religious circles have had a tendency in the past to interpret blood moon eclipses as either an apocalypse or Armageddon.  While I doubt that the world will come to an end, I do sense that the world as we know it is headed for many changes.

This event is a big deal, both astrologically and astronomically.  While lunar eclipses are not that rare (just your average full moon on steroids), this one is a supermoon because the moon makes such a close approach to the earth that the moon, which will be visible, appears red or coppery.  The cycle of four blood moon eclipses began on April 14-15, 2014 in the sign of Libra.  The next blood moon eclipse occurred on October 7-8, 2014 in the sign of Aries.  The third blood moon eclipse occurred on April 4, 2015 in the sign of Libra and the fourth will happen on September 27, 2015 in 4 degrees of Aries.  The continuing themes of these eclipses pertain to relationships (Libra) and new beginnings (Aries).  I think it is fair to say that whatever story began in our lives back in April 2014 with relationships and new beginnings may come to a close or a resolution will be in order.  I loved what astrologer Jessica Adams had to say about blood moon eclipses tending to be about cover-ups.  This seems to be an accurate description given today’s political climate.  And we all know that eclipses tend to obscure things, so be aware that there may be temporary blind spots.  It could be months before the truth is finally revealed.

This eclipse is especially potent because with the Aries moon opposing the Libra Sun, lessons of cooperation and reassessment in relationships are at the forefront while trying to balance the Aries energy of individuality and self-determination.  Astrologer Molly Hall interpreted the theme of this full moon as “achieving balance between me and we.”  She definitely nailed it!

There was a major planetary build up to this eclipse, featuring Pluto stationing direct in 12 degrees of Capricorn on September 25th.  Pluto has been retrograde since April 16, 2015.  Pluto direct will bring major changes and free us from places we have been stuck in by empowering us.  Mars entered Virgo on September 24th and promptly squared Saturn in Sagittarius on September 25th as well.  Mars squaring Saturn is all about aggravation, frustration and control issues.  Trust me on this one—I have a natal Mars Saturn square in my chart in fixed signs, and it ain’t pretty or easy to live with.  The saving grace of this Mars Saturn square is that at least it falls in mutable signs, so we may find it easier to learn Saturn’s lessons and not let ourselves get too frustrated in the process. With Saturn in Sagittarius, Saturn’s lesson will probably manifest as a test of faith with the square to Mars in Virgo.

So, the heavy hitters of Mars, Pluto and Saturn are featured prominently in the prelude to this super blood moon eclipse.  Pluto in Capricorn also squared Mercury in Libra on September 24th, inspiring me to tweet:

“Communication can get sharp today as retrograde Mercury in Libra squares Pluto in Capricorn.  Old issues & themes may resurface.”

Neptune in Pisces further reinforces the theme of obscuring information by opposing both Mars and Jupiter in Virgo.  Neptune wants creativity and some escapism, but we are all better off if we channel the Virgo qualities of moderation, patience and devotion constructively.  Easier said than done.

On a personal level, this eclipse in 4 degrees of Aries falls in my 6th house of work, health and daily routines.  Next week I am changing my hours of Reiki treatment from Thursday morning to Friday evenings, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.  So my daily routine in terms of when I practice healing in a work setting is definitely changing.  I am hoping that this results in an increase in business so that people will have the opportunity to de-stress after a tough week at work.  If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off.  Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

In the Zone - The Week Between Eclipses

This has been a strange week astrologically speaking. There were no major, mind-blowing aspects like last week's Uranus Pluto square and solar eclipse in the last degree of Pisces on March 20th before the Sun entered Aries. But there has definitely been an undercurrent of highly sensitive energy that is preparing us for the lunar eclipse on April 4th in 14 degrees of Libra. If we are wise, we will tune in to our higher self to facilitate the implementation of the changes that are coming. It is well known that eclipses are the harbingers of massive change and there is usually a two week period between eclipses that afford us the opportunity to catch our breath. It is literally a bridge between two worlds. Michael Lutin brilliantly described the time between two eclipses as: "Swinging between a past it's hard to let go of, and uncertain future, but hey, that's evolution!"

Venus entered the sign of Taurus on March 17th and formed a dreamy sextile with Neptune in Pisces on March 23rd after conjuncting the moon in Taurus the previous day. The vibe on both days was kind of laid back, and people were more in a mood to enjoy themselves. We may have been seeing life through rose colored glasses on the 23rd with that aspect to Neptune. Venus rules Taurus and Taurus does love the finer things in life. So if you engaged in a little retail therapy, fine dining, culture and the arts, or even a massage, blame it on Venus in Taurus. And Venus in Taurus squares Jupiter in Leo on March 27th, which only serves to amplify that theme of too much of a good thing.

But we can't ignore the Sun in Aries. I swear that I can always tell when the Sun is in Aries because I become more impatient and irritable. Waiting in lines at the grocery store nearly gives me a meltdown! I just want to get my food and get it home. We experienced a semblance of ambition on March 25th when the Aries Sun trined Saturn in Sagittarius. It was a good day to start on projects and get some structure going in our lives. I actually accomplished a lot that day with my Reiki, psychic reading and astrology clients.

On March 26th I read a post on Twitter that resonated for me about this energy I was feeling and I retweeted it. It was about becoming aware of old patterns because the Sun is diving into the south node of the moon and releasing people, relationships and past cycles. I subsequently posted a tweet that it's spring cleaning of the soul!  This aspect will be exact on April 1, 2015. What perfect timing as a prelude to a lunar eclipse in the relationship oriented sign of Libra on April 4th! Aspects or transits to the south node are all about letting of what no longer serves our highest good, but most of us have a tendency to cling to them for dear life. Indeed, the south node is our comfort zone, our security blanket. When the south node is activated, we are literally pushed and propelled forward towards our north node, which is our soul's mission. It may not be an easy mission, but it is worthwhile. So let's practice a little mindfulness in this zone that doesn't quite feel real and soon enough we will get to our soul's destination where there will be a new reality.

If you are confused during these challenging times and need some guidance in empowering you to move forward, please consider getting an astrological reading.  You can learn more about my menu of astrological services at:

Embrace the Season of Pisces and Welcome and Mars and Venus in Aries

The planets are changing signs this week and gearing up for the massive changes that will happen in March and April with the seventh and final Uranus P!uto square exact on March 17th and eclipses on March 20th and April 4th. The Sun entered Pisces on February 18th, literally a few minutes after this year's second New Moon in 29 degrees of Aquarius. A second new moon in Aquarius is rare, and gives us a second chance to pursue our dreams. On February 18th I tweeted:

"#New #Moon in 29 degrees of Aquarius today, the 2nd this year. Make the most of pursuing your dreams and celebrate Sun entering #Pisces."

What are the themes pertaining to Pisces? Pisces rules surrendering to the process and trusting in the unfolding of life events, especially when we have no control over the outcome. This is very familiar territory for many of us these days and a perfect backdrop for the upcoming Uranus Pluto square, which demands that we trust in the process of whatever changes come our way by believing that it will ultimately serve our best interests. Am I under the influence of a Piscean Neptune ruled fog with this belief? Well, the flip side of Pisces is delusion, deception and escapism, but I do have more faith that this last Uranus Pluto square will be less traumatic than previous ones because both of these planets are direct. I am choosing to believe that whatever changes come will be easier to accept this time around.  Pisces season also enhances faith and creativity, so let those creative juices flow. And check back with me in a month to see if my faith was justified.

Mars entered the sign of Aries at 7:12 p.m. on February 19th. Mars is very comfortable in Aries, a sign it rules. It encourages us to embrace the new and take action. If you have been considering implementing a new fitness routine, Mars in Aries gives you a green light to go for it. But it also has a tendency to make us more impetuous, irritable and act out our frustrations. Mars in Aries will also be trining Saturn in Sagittarius on February 25th, and this is a favorable aspect that facilitates achieving our goals.

Venus enters Aries on February 20th at 3:00 p.m. Venus is not so comfortable in Aries; in fact it is in one of its signs of detriment, the other sign being Scorpio. Venus has just left Pisces, the sign of its exaltation, so it is a little uneasy in Aries. Venus will hook up with Mars in Aries by conjunction on February 21st, so be prepared for passions to explode and relationships to be fast-paced. Venus in Aries is a time of action and awakening new energy or revitalizing a current relationship. Aries is a cardinal sign, so Venus in Aries will be in its element in terms of initiating action in matters of love and self-expression. Just be careful not to stir up trouble!

So take full advantage of the creative, inspirational energy of the Sun in Pisces and the initiating, action-oriented vibe of both Mars and Venus in Aries. Personally, I love it when the Sun is in Pisces because it spends more than half its transit in my 5h house, so I enjoy the burst of creativity it gives me.  This could prove to be one of the most creative times of 2015 if we utilize the power of combined water and fire planets. Don't forget that Jupiter is also in the fire sign of Leo to boost that enthusiastic energy.

Goodbye Pisces Sun, Hello Aries and Happy Astrological New Year

The Sun entered the sign of Aries at 12:57 p.m. on March 20, 2014, officially kicking off the Spring Equinox and the astrological New Year.  After all, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac.  Although a month ago I was extolling the virtues of the sun in Pisces, I am more than ready for the action period that Aries represents.  I can’t deny that the sun in Pisces was a boon for my creativity but it was also a time when I had to dive deeper into that emotional ocean it represents than was in my comfort zone.  And the moon was in deep watery Scorpio until 8:39 a.m. today, so it was pretty intense, especially so with its last aspect being a conjunction to Saturn.  I have a moon Saturn aspect in my chart, so I always feel that particular contact pretty strongly.  I am trying to regard that conjunction as an opportunity to clean up old emotional patterns that no longer work and move forward.  Aries is a cardinal sign that supports moving forward in a big way.  I don’t have much fire in my chart, being mostly water and air, but I am learning to embrace the enthusiasm of fire signs as I get older.  Aries represents leadership, initiative, courage, determination and action. It is a time to try something new and be more spontaneous.  And today’s Sun in Aries trines the Sagittarius moon, so adventure may be on the horizon for the weekend.

While the Sun may have left Pisces, we now have Mercury in Pisces again.  Mercury entered the sign of Pisces on March 17th and today it will finally be out of the retrograde shadow.  Have we forgotten that recent Mercury retrograde period from February 6th through February 28th?  I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling that “shadow” for the past couple of weeks and am quite ecstatic that Mercury is finally out of that shadow so we can really move forward.   Talk about TGIF!  Mercury in Pisces will be conjuncting Neptune in Pisces on March 22nd, so sensitivity will be ramped up to a whole new level and the tendency to see things through rose-colored glasses is prevalent.  Neptune will be in its home sign of Pisces until 2025, so we have quite a few more years of the annual Mercury Neptune conjunction to experience.   Molly Hall wrote a beautiful piece called Neptune Goggles On: Sensitized Sight. Check it out at:

I loved what she said about Mercury crossing 3 degrees of Pisces being a release phase of the retrograde—an atmosphere to see into subtle and soulful realities.  Epiphanies may very well manifest in the coming days.

And then there is Chiron in Pisces.  Chiron will remain in the sign of Pisces until 2019.  Michael Lutin’s Next Week in Review had the following to say about Chiron in Pisces on his site:

The last two weeks
have seen a major Chiron incident
in everybody's life---
one that produced
a highly emotional
response.
Love
Pain
Dedication
Regret
Guilt
Creativity
Some saw God
Others lost faith
This week is a week of recovery.
Step back if you will
and look back
could you really have done something different
to change where it all stands today
or did it happen
Exactly the way it had to?
Action is one thing
destiny quite another.
Even though in private your mind keeps going over
and over and over
the incidents of the past month,
you must attempt
to move forward
because life demands it.

I think that really nails the Chiron in Pisces experience, especially its reference to when Chiron conjuncted the Sun in Pisces on March 3, 2014.

Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer and has a fifty year cycle.  I started wondering what was going on the last time Chiron was in Pisces, from 1962-1968. Chiron in Pisces represents the last stage of healing at the soul level.  I also realized that the current transit of Chiron in Pisces has been squaring my natal moon in Gemini since late January 2014 and will continue to do so throughout 2014.  I checked the ephemeris and realized that the last time I had this transit was back in February 1964.  My father nearly died of a bleeding ulcer back then.  Trips to the hospital were part of my life then, as they are now.  My father’s hospitalization occurred on February 9, 1964.  How did I remember the date?  I confess it was because I remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show that night.  If you were alive back in 1964, who could forget the first time you saw the Beatles?

What is the theme of Chiron transits to the natal moon?  Well, they force you to look at emotional  hang-ups caused by psychological scars of the past which can be related to the mother.  That resonated for me because my maternal grandparents died in November and December 1962 when Chiron was also in Pisces.  My mother was devastated by their deaths which occurred within less than six weeks of each other and in many ways I felt emotionally abandoned and a sense of responsibility for her emotional well-being.  So when my father got sick my mother must have been terrified, especially when my brothers and I started expressing our fears that our father would die.  So Chiron is once again opening up old emotional wounds regarding my fears of emotional abandonment and loss of a loved one through death.  My loved one is still in the hospital awaiting the green light for surgery that will improve the function of his enlarged heart.

But the Sun is in Aries and it is time to move forward and heal.  I will actually be starting to offer Reiki treatments on March 26th at my favorite acupuncture clinic, so I am getting in the spirit of that Aries energy by trying something new.
