Change is in the Air as the Sun and Uranus are Conjunct in Taurus and Mercury Enters Taurus

 

We are thick in the heart of Taurus season, especially with the New Moon in Taurus having occurred on May 7.  On that day I posted:

Uranus in Taurus is not through with its change-making action quite yet.  On May 13, the Sun and Uranus will be conjunct in 23 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect screams change and has a theme of the urge to break free from humdrum routines that feel stifling to us.  Unexpected change, freedom and rebellion are all on the agenda for this day.  Don't resist the change that will probably be thrust upon us, but I caution you not to take any unnecessary risks either or rebel against authority just for the sake of rebelling.  It should be an exciting day filled with unconventional occurrences.  It can be a time of reinventing the wheel, so to speak.

If you have any planets in 21-26 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, you will feel this energy quite intensely.  I have my Venus in 24 degrees of Scorpio and my Pluto in 26 degrees of Leo, so this will be activating my natal Venus-Pluto square.  I have been having the feeling that the month of May would be bringing big changes for me and this Sun-Uranus conjunction in Taurus could be the instigator for me.

Venus in Taurus is also forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 17 degrees of Pisces on May 13.  This will cause us to crave companionship, but the Saturn influence assures that we want it to be serious and committed in order to fulfill our needs.  This is not the aspect that encourages a light-hearted fling.  Venus sextiling Saturn is also favorable for conducting business transactions, paying off debts and starting a savings plan.

We have one other cause for celebration on May 13.  Mercury finally clears its retrograde shadow in 27 degrees of Aries.  How can we forget that Mercury stationed retrograde in 27 degrees of Aries on April 1?

Mercury enters Taurus on May 15 and remains in Taurus until June 3.  As you can see, Mercury has regained its momentum and is cruising at full speed.  Mercury was in Aries from March 9 and was a major player in eclipse season as it was retrograde during the Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8 and had already entered its retrograde shadow period on March 19 to have an effect on the Lunar Eclipse in Libra on March 25. 

When Mercury is in Taurus, our thinking and communication becomes more grounded, practical and down to earth.  Common sense will prevail after the impulsiveness of Mercury in Aries.  We will also have more patience with Mercury in Taurus.  It's a perfect time to solidify plans and get focused.  We are more purposeful, but be mindful that the shadow side Mercury in Taurus is a tendency to stubborn and inflexible.  But overall, the transit of Mercury in Taurus should be a welcome relief after the drama of Mercury in Aries that included eclipse season and Mercury retrograde.  I don't know about you, but I found that having Mercury retrograde in Aries seemed to make people more impatient and likely to fly off the handle.

I want to wish all of the mothers out there a Happy Mother's Day on May 12.  The Moon will be in Cancer on that day, and it will be sextiling the Sun, Venus and Uranus in Taurus while trining Saturn in Pisces, which should make it a pleasant day. The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Powerful Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio That Asks Us to Let Go and Venus Enters Cancer

 

This is it, folks - the big one is here.  At 1:34 p.m. on May 5, 2023, we have a Lunar Eclipse in 14 degrees of Scorpio. Lunar Eclipses tend to have themes of closure and completion and Scorpio is one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac.  Lunar eclipses are like Full Moons on steroids, so this is definitely a highly emotional time. Scorpio is also the most pessimistic of the water signs and tends to involve the past, the underworld and getting in touch with our inner demons.  Additionally, Scorpio is associated with secrets and scandals too.  And don't forget that Scorpio is also the sign of other people's money, so I wouldn't rule out the potential for some financial upheaval, especially with the Full Moon opposing Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  The Full Moon is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 9 degrees of Taurus, which adds to the volatile news that circulates.

Another key theme with this Lunar Eclipse is surrender.  Many of us could find ourselves having to let go of whatever is not working in our lives.  Emotional release will be required. Eclipses are wild cards and we can never totally predict how they will play out.  The fact that Uranus in Taurus is opposing the Full Moon only serves to reinforce this.  Yes, we are entitled to have our intentions, but with an eclipse in Scorpio, we really need to let go of how we will get our needs met.  Try not to control how it manifests and trust that it will happen the way it is meant to.

We do have one particularly positive aspect on this Lunar Eclipse.  Venus in Gemini is exactly sextiling Jupiter in 27 degrees of Aries.  This aspect can create opportunities for luck, socializing and loving feelings.  It can also benefit us financially.  Just be mindful of a tendency towards excess with this one as Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches.  And Mars in 21 degrees of Cancer is trining Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces, which is also quite favorable.  It can help us act on our spiritual urges in a practical way.

I am heavily impacted by this eclipse.  There is no way that I am escaping its effects. The Full Moon in Scorpio falls at the end of my 1st house and is conjunct my Saturn in the 1st house, my Sun in the 2nd house and squares my Mars in Aquarius in the 4th house.  I have been dealing with feelings of anger and frustration for some time now, and it could very well erupt on this eclipse.  How could it not when both the Sun and Moon are squaring my Mars in Aquarius? Anyone who has planets in the mid-degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will be taking some kind of hit from this eclipse.  You will feel its effects big time.  Some of you might have already started to feel it and it helps to know that its effects can linger for up to six weeks after the eclipse.

Venus departs the mutable sign of Gemini on May 7 to enter the cardinal water sign of Cancer.  It stays in Cancer until June 5.  Venus is very comfortable in Cancer and is more nurturing. Emotional security becomes more important to us and we are capable of achieving greater intimacy in relationships.  But right out of the gate, Venus in Cancer has a run-in with Pluto in Aquarius when it forms an irritating inconjunct to the planet associated with power and transformation.  Don't be surprised if a bout of defensiveness occurs.  When Venus is in Cancer, we tend to feel more vulnerable, sensitive and moody.

On May 9, the Sun and Uranus are exactly conjunct in 18 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can deliver unsettling events and breakthroughs.  There could be flashes of insight as we continue to process the changes that transpired during the eclipse.  And the Sun conjunct Uranus can also generate a lot of nervous energy.
