An Action-Packed Week Kicking off a Reset Starting with a New Moon in Taurus, Mercury, Mars, Venus and the Sun Changing Signs

 

The pace is really picking up this week.  We have a Super New Moon in 25 degrees of Taurus on May 16 that will serve as a perfect time to set intentions pertaining to financial stability and security.  Indulging in sensual pleasures is also a theme with this Taurus Moon that is ruled by Venus.  The Moon and the Sun are also conjunct Mercury in Taurus, which lends more groundedness to our thinking.  Another perk is that the Moon in Taurus is forming a supportive sextile to Jupiter in 21 degrees of Cancer, which can create opportunities for financial growth. Mars and Chiron are also conjunct in 28 degrees of Aries on the New Moon indicating that is okay to feel vulnerable and ask for help.  I am sure many of us have felt that we needed to be strong and self-sufficient but this is a time to acknowledge that we can't do everything alone.  Any way you slice it, this New Moon in Taurus is akin to hitting the reset button in our lives.

On May 17, Mercury enters Gemini until June 1.  Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo, so it is definitely a happy camper here.  This will be a high-octane period for communication, learning and mental agility.  We are more witty, inclined to make decisions rapidly and might be taking more short trips.  Mercury will also be conjunct Uranus in Gemini on that day, which can bring some real mental breakthroughs.  

Mars moves into Taurus on May 18, which is a huge shift from the impulsive action of Mars in Aries.  We are motivated to be more practical, stable and grounded.  Financial planning could take center stage in our lives.  The shadow side of Mars in Taurus is tendency towards stubbornness, as Taurus is fixed earth.  The fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio will feel this most acutely.

Venus is changing signs too on May 18.  It enters Cancer on that day until June 13.  Love becomes softer, more nurturing and healing. We crave deeper connections and might be prone to spending money on home improvements.  A desire for safety and security in relationships prevails now.  We can also find ourselves being more sentimental and nostalgic.

The Sun moves into Gemini on May 20 as our focus shifts to diversity, socializing, learning and curiosity.  Gathering information is important for us now and we are likely to have a finger in every pot so to speak.  We also might be a little fickle with the Sun in Gemini trying to sample as much variety as possible.  The Sun is moving toward its own conjunction with Uranus in Gemini, which will be exact on May 22.  But the theme of fresh starts and new chapters ring true with Mercury and then the Sun conjunct Uranus in Gemini.  The upsets of Uranus in Taurus over the last seven years are literally in our rear-view mirror now.

Uranus in Gemini will be trining Pluto in Aquarius from July 2026 through May 2028, which will be a welcome change from the turbulence we encountered with the Uranus in Aries squares to Pluto in Capricorn from 2012 through 2015. Trine are harmonious energy which facilitate implementing deep structural change. It won't be as chaotic as the squares and technology could be instrumental in delivering those changes.  Innovative thinking is also emphasized.  Bring it on, I say!  The days of feeling stuck are starting to fade as we create a new reality.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. The Sun in Leo Faces off with Pluto in Aquarius, Chiron in Aries Joins the Retrograde Party and Venus Sails into Cancer

 

How are you all faring with this Mercury retrograde in Leo?  As a Scorpio, I am definitely feeling its effects. The fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio are probably bearing the brunt of this Mercury retrograde. Since Mercury went retrograde on July 18, I have lost a Zoom recording, my phone has shut off and given me a "Phone unavailable" message and my Fitbit battery started draining rapidly.  And customer service for Fitbit (now owned by Google) was not able to help me.  I mention this because in addition to Mercury, Neptune, Saturn and Pluto retrograde, Chiron is joining the party this week.

The Sun in Leo is opposing Pluto in 2 degrees of Aquarius on July 25.  Power will be a key theme of this aspect.  We might be seeing a compulsive urge to take control, manipulative tactics, jealousy, intense emotions surfacing and some major confrontations.  But the silver lining of this aspect is that it can lead to transformation.  Hold that thought...

Chiron has been in Aries since 2019 and it will be joining the retrograde pileup of planets on July 30 when it stations retrograde in 27 degrees of Aries.  It is known as the "Wounded Healer".  Chiron will remain retrograde until January 2, 2026 when it stations direct in 22 degrees of Aries.  When Chiron is retrograde, it will bring up old wounds and traumas for healing.  In the sign of Aries, it can be a time to reclaim our courage and identity because it represents a time of empowerment.

I feel that the Chiron wound never really goes away and that when Chiron is retrograde, it can serve as an astrological therapist.  Yes, you have to face the pain, but you can emerge from this period (the rest of 2025 into early 2026) with the tools to heal and become more self-empowered.  I know this is definitely true in my case, as is it currently trining my Pluto in Leo, opposing my Neptune in Libra, and squaring my Uranus in Cancer.  During the retrograde, it will once again square my natal Chiron in Capricorn.  It happened the first time in May and I will get another hit in October.  I am not escaping the effects of this retrograde, and you shouldn't attempt to either.  As the saying goes, resistance is futile.

Venus is leaving Gemini on July 30 and entering the cardinal water sign of Cancer until August 25.  This will cause a major shift in relationships and finances as we are more likely to reflect on home and family.  We will feel a desire to create more safety and nurture our relationships.  It can also be described as a sentimental journey as we seek to strengthen our bonds with loved ones.  The shadow side of Venus in Cancer is that we can be moodier. The water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will benefit the most from this transit.

Summer is Coming as Venus, Mercury and the Sun Enter Cancer

 

Gemini season is winding down its journey and for many of us, it can't come soon enough.  The New Moon in Gemini on June 6 featured the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Gemini which generated a tremendous amount of nervous energy and had quite a few people feeling very scattered. It was very frenetic, to say the least.

But the Sun, Mercury and Venus in Gemini have a few more moves to make before they depart.  On June 14, the Sun and Mercury will be conjunct in 23 degrees of Gemini. This should actually be quite pleasant as thinking and communication are emphasized.  Mercury is very comfortable in Gemini, so it will probably entail more socializing and information processing.  The Moon is entering the air sign of Libra during the afternoon, which adds to vibe of wanting to connect with others.  And it's possible that we could be planning some short trips with the Sun and Mercury joining together.

On June 16, Father's Day, Venus in Gemini is squaring Neptune in 29 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect has the potential to create some insecurity and we need to be mindful of people trying to con us or deceive us.  Just remember that anything that seems to be good to be true probably is.  And this aspect occurs in the anaretic degree of both planets, so we could find ourselves needing to make decisions regarding long-standing issues in relationships or finances that have been colored by our idealism. The themes of escapism and substance abuse are also present with Venus squaring Neptune.  

On June 17 Venus enters the cardinal water sign of Cancer at 2:20 a.m. and stays there until July 11. When Venus is in Cancer, we are more sentimental, nostalgic and sensitive.  We are also more inclined to be affectionate and might feel like entertaining at home.  It is a time when our nurturing and protective sides come out to play big-time. Family can become more important to us. We are quite literally dedicated to those we love, but we are also prone to experience more ups and downs in love.  

Mercury is right behind Venus when it moves into Cancer at 5:07 a.m. on June 17.  It will quite literally be zipping through Cancer and will leave on July 2.  Be prepared for some deeper communication from the heart on a very deep instinctual level. Our thoughts will be colored by our emotions, for better or worse. We could wind up being snappy and saying spiteful things. Say good-bye to objectivity. Cardinal signs like to be in control and Mercury in Cancer is going to take that to an emotional level.  It does favor reviewing the past, though, so hold onto that thought and use it constructively.

The Sun enters Cancer on June 20 for the official launch of summer.  It is the longest day of summer and sunlight, so get out there and enjoy it. Our focus completely shifts when the Sun is in Cancer.  Our feelings are more important now as we become more emotional, self-protective and sentimental.  It is a quieter, more relaxed pace. This is probably why so many people plan their vacation at this time of year.  The Sun in Cancer might also be a nesting period for us when our home becomes more important and we could initiate some decorating or renovation projects.

A Powerful Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio That Asks Us to Let Go and Venus Enters Cancer

 

This is it, folks - the big one is here.  At 1:34 p.m. on May 5, 2023, we have a Lunar Eclipse in 14 degrees of Scorpio. Lunar Eclipses tend to have themes of closure and completion and Scorpio is one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac.  Lunar eclipses are like Full Moons on steroids, so this is definitely a highly emotional time. Scorpio is also the most pessimistic of the water signs and tends to involve the past, the underworld and getting in touch with our inner demons.  Additionally, Scorpio is associated with secrets and scandals too.  And don't forget that Scorpio is also the sign of other people's money, so I wouldn't rule out the potential for some financial upheaval, especially with the Full Moon opposing Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  The Full Moon is also opposing retrograde Mercury in 9 degrees of Taurus, which adds to the volatile news that circulates.

Another key theme with this Lunar Eclipse is surrender.  Many of us could find ourselves having to let go of whatever is not working in our lives.  Emotional release will be required. Eclipses are wild cards and we can never totally predict how they will play out.  The fact that Uranus in Taurus is opposing the Full Moon only serves to reinforce this.  Yes, we are entitled to have our intentions, but with an eclipse in Scorpio, we really need to let go of how we will get our needs met.  Try not to control how it manifests and trust that it will happen the way it is meant to.

We do have one particularly positive aspect on this Lunar Eclipse.  Venus in Gemini is exactly sextiling Jupiter in 27 degrees of Aries.  This aspect can create opportunities for luck, socializing and loving feelings.  It can also benefit us financially.  Just be mindful of a tendency towards excess with this one as Jupiter loves to expand whatever it touches.  And Mars in 21 degrees of Cancer is trining Neptune in 26 degrees of Pisces, which is also quite favorable.  It can help us act on our spiritual urges in a practical way.

I am heavily impacted by this eclipse.  There is no way that I am escaping its effects. The Full Moon in Scorpio falls at the end of my 1st house and is conjunct my Saturn in the 1st house, my Sun in the 2nd house and squares my Mars in Aquarius in the 4th house.  I have been dealing with feelings of anger and frustration for some time now, and it could very well erupt on this eclipse.  How could it not when both the Sun and Moon are squaring my Mars in Aquarius? Anyone who has planets in the mid-degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will be taking some kind of hit from this eclipse.  You will feel its effects big time.  Some of you might have already started to feel it and it helps to know that its effects can linger for up to six weeks after the eclipse.

Venus departs the mutable sign of Gemini on May 7 to enter the cardinal water sign of Cancer.  It stays in Cancer until June 5.  Venus is very comfortable in Cancer and is more nurturing. Emotional security becomes more important to us and we are capable of achieving greater intimacy in relationships.  But right out of the gate, Venus in Cancer has a run-in with Pluto in Aquarius when it forms an irritating inconjunct to the planet associated with power and transformation.  Don't be surprised if a bout of defensiveness occurs.  When Venus is in Cancer, we tend to feel more vulnerable, sensitive and moody.

On May 9, the Sun and Uranus are exactly conjunct in 18 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect can deliver unsettling events and breakthroughs.  There could be flashes of insight as we continue to process the changes that transpired during the eclipse.  And the Sun conjunct Uranus can also generate a lot of nervous energy.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Personal Planets on the Move as Venus Sails into Cancer and Mercury Enters Leo

 

We are just coming off of an extremely emotional Super Full Moon in Capricorn that occurred on July 13.  On that day I tweeted:

But we should be prepared for more emotional drama to unfold.  Two of the personal planets, Venus and Mercury, are about to change signs.  Venus is personal because it pertains to how we love and Mercury is personal in terms of how we communicate. Venus changes signs first, when it leaves the chatty air sign of Gemini and enters the cardinal water sign of Cancer on July 17 and stays there until August 11.  Mercury moves from Cancer to Leo on July 19 and zips through the fixed fire sign at breakneck speed before it enters Virgo on August 4.

When Venus is in Cancer, our emotional security becomes a priority.  Emotions are bound to surface with Venus in a sensitive water sign and it's no accident that the Moon is also in the water sign of Pisces on the 17th when Venus sails into Cancer.  We will be dealing with a lot of release, so don't be surprised if you find yourself crying when Venus is in Cancer.  Let it out. There will be ups and downs as the Moon changes signs every couple of days but hopefully we will also be experiencing more compassion and sympathy for others during this transit. We are getting in touch with our dreams and desires now.  The perk of this transit is that we are more likely to take action on those dreams with Venus in a water sign.  That's what water signs do.  Venus in Gemini may have talked a good game, but Venus in Cancer wants to experience those feelings and make them real.

Mercury in Cancer makes one final aspect on July 18 that is quite potent.  It opposes Pluto in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  This can play out as a battle of ideas that manifests in blow-ups and arguments.  Try to channel this energy into research activities and self-analysis.  It is a very favorable aspect for doing some therapy. Mercury will be conjunct my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer on that day, so it should be interesting...

Mercury in Leo is very creative and dramatic as we are prone to think big.  We come across as more confident in our communication.  It can lead to grand romantic gestures too. But the shadow side of Mercury in Leo can lead to tempers flaring and we aren't as adept at listening to others.  We might also tend to overlook small details because our focus is on the big picture with Mercury in Leo.

There is more planetary movement on July 19. Chiron is stationing retrograde in 16 degrees of Aries on that day.  Chiron is retrograde until December 23, 2022 when it stations direct in 11 degrees of Aries. When Chiron is retrograde, we have the opportunity to access our deepest emotional wounds and reflect on them so that we can use them as a source of power and healing. Chiron retrograde is also an optimal time for therapy.  Chiron retrograde is a much more subtle transit than Mercury retrograde and can be quite beneficial, so please don't be scared of this retrograde.
