A Super Emotionally Charged Full Moon in Scorpio, Mercury Enters Taurus and Pluto Stations Retrograde in Aquarius

 

Away we go with the Merry (?) month of May.  On May 1, we have a super-charged Full Moon in 11 degrees of Scorpio.  Full Moons always raise the emotional ante, but when you have a Full Moon in a water sign, especially Scorpio known for its still waters run deep persona, it can feel off the charts.  Prepare for a massive case of the big feels as it squares Scorpio's ruling planet Pluto in Aquarius  Major secrets could be revealed on this day as we dig deep to leave no stone unturned.

There is a fixed T-square on the Full Moon involving the Sun in Taurus, Pluto in Aquarius and Moon in Scorpio.  T-squares tend to provide so much friction that they motivate us to do something.  Because all of these planets are in fixed signs, we can anticipate stubbornness, demands, high levels of determination and a battle of wills that could be accompanied by manipulation and control tactics.  The saving grace aspect of this Full Moon is the trine between the Moon in Scorpio and Jupiter in Cancer.  This enhances our intuition and empathy.  It provides optimism so that we have more faith and optimism during these challenging times.

Mercury and Chiron are conjunct in 27 degrees of Aries on the Full Moon, indicating a potential for wounding words to surface for the process of healing.  A Full Moon in Scorpio has a strong theme of rebirth and transformation.

There is also a Yod aspect on this Full Moon involving Venus in 8 degrees of Gemini, Saturn in 9 degrees of Aries and the Moon in 11 degrees of Scorpio.  I have a Yod in my natal chart with my Moon in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio and North Node in Capricorn.  Yods have a way of making you feel like a victim and questioning why such bizarre things keep happening to you.  The bottom line is that they require adjustment because Venus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries (which form a supportive sextile that can create opportunities) are inconjunct the Moon in Scorpio.  We are being called on to integrate the open-minded energy of Venus in Gemini with the responsible energy of Saturn in Aries through the emotional depth of the Moon in Scorpio.

Responsibility is a key theme of this Full Moon.  We have two other Yods in this Full Moon.  The South Node in Virgo is inconjunct Saturn in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius, which indicates that we will need to release patterns of perfectionism and self-criticism.  The third Yod involves Saturn in Aries inconjunct the South Node in Virgo and the Moon in Scorpio.  Responsibility, dedication and consistency are highlighted.  Use the intensity of your emotions as the fuel to transform.  It will be difficult but we need to persevere.  This Full Moon is conjunct my Saturn in Scorpio in my first house, so it really hits home for me.

This will be the most powerful Full Moon of 2026 so far, but if we have the courage to face whatever comes our way, we can heal and be reborn.  Remember that Venus in Gemini is sextiling Saturn in Aries, which is a blessing for us to stay the course and heal our relationships. This is by no means a fluffy, feel-good Full Moon but it can get us to the other side.

Mercury enters Taurus on May 2 until May 17.  We can look forward to more practical and grounded communication.  Our decision-making should be more stable than when Mercury was in Aries and we can engage in sound financial planning.  We might be a little stubborn though because Taurus is fixed earth.  That is the shadow side of Mercury in Taurus.

Pluto stations retrograde in 5 degrees of Aquarius on May 6 until October 15 when it goes direct in 3 degrees of Aquarius.  It's time to channel our inner phoenix and transform on a deep inner level so that we can implement those changes in the collective.  There can be technological advances and we have the opportunity to reexamine our relationship with power.  Pluto is retrograde every year and it is much more subtle than having Mercury, Saturn, Mars or Venus retrograde.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Venus and Neptune Conjunct in Aries and Pluto Stations Retrograde

 

Save the date of May 2.  Venus and Neptune are conjunct in 0 degrees of Aries for the first time since 1861.  Venus just entered Aries on April 30 and Neptune entered Aries on March 30.  This is very dreamy energy which can bring in new romance or can deliver disappointments or a sense of loss.  It's important to remember that Venus is not particularly happy in Aries.  

While this conjunction between Venus and Neptune in the sign of Aries is the first one since 1861, it won't be the last.  It will be occurring every year until 2039.  Next year it will happen on March 7, 2026 in 1 degree of Aries. Yes, folks, Neptune will slip back into Pisces for one last trip on October 22, 2025 through January 26, 2026 and then it remains in Aries.

How is this aspect going to play out for you? Well, it depends on where it is falling in your chart and if it is making any aspects to planets in your chart.  It is important to remember that this conjunction is falling on the world point because it is in the cardinal sign of Aries, so there is definitely potential for new life and developments.  It is applying to make a sextile to Pluto in 3 degrees of Aquarius, which also alludes to major changes.  If this conjunction in Aries is squaring or opposing any planets within a three-degree orb, you might experience some disappointment or loss.  So if you have planets or points (like the Ascendant, Midheaven or Nodes of the Moon) in the cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you will be feeling the heat from this aspect.  And if Venus and Neptune are conjunct anything in your chart between 0-3 degrees of Aries, you just might experience powerful new beginnings in Venus ruled matters.  This pertains to love and finances.  

If you do experience some disappointment or loss due to a square or opposition transit, just try to realize that by next year's conjunction, you will probably feel grateful for having escaped a bad situation.

There is one other astrological event occurring on May 2 which is cause for rejoicing.  Mars clears its retrograde shadow in 6 degrees of Leo.  How can we forget that Mars retrograde transit from December 2024 through February 2025 when we all pretty much felt stuck in terms of moving forward.  Mars is the planet of action, motivation, courage and desire.  So we have a cosmic green light to move forward with our plans.

On May 4, Pluto stations retrograde in 3 degrees of Aquarius until October 13, 2025.  Pluto stations retrograde every year (unlike Mars and Venus) and it is not as traumatic as Mars, Venus, or Mercury retrograde, which we have all endured so far in 2025.  We tend to feel Pluto retrograde most acutely when it stations, either retrograde or direct.  And unlike 2024, we don't have to worry about Pluto dipping back into Capricorn during this retrograde.  Pluto is here to stay in Aquarius; it stations direct in 1 degree of Aquarius on October 13.

It's possible that we might have more earthquakes or see power struggles erupting when Pluto stations retrograde on or around May 4.  But for the most part Pluto retrograde is more of an inside job where we look inwards at our compulsions and obsessions to determine how we can transform them into something more positive.  Don't be surprised if you find old fears or patterns resurfacing during this time period; they are allowing us the opportunity to embrace change and tap into our inner strength to implement a new life.

Mars Conjuncts Neptune in Pisces, Mars and Venus Move into Their Happy Places, and Pluto Stations Retrograde

 

We are on the precipice of a new world, so to speak.  During the past week we have experienced a rare Jupiter-Uranus conjunction on April 20 and an extremely intense full Moon in Scorpio on April 23. On those days I posted:

Okay, if you are still standing, please be advised that the month of April still has a few tricks up its sleeves.  On April 29, Mars and Neptune are conjunct in 28 degrees of Pisces.  This aspect can sometimes get a bad rep because there are myriad ways that it can play out: it can be very romantic, creative, spiritual, delusional or paranoid.  Obviously the best way to channel its energy is to devote yourself to your dreams and goals.  It does have a shadow side of being unrealistic with a penchant for overidealizing partners (relationship red flag) and getting taken advantage of.  Substance abuse can also be an issue with this aspect.  As for me personally, the conjunction is falling in my 6th house and it just so happens that I am having my annual physical on that day.  Ideally, I would like to be practicing more Reiki on that day, but I might be devoting more energy to my own health.  We shall see how this plays out...

Venus is departing the cardinal fire sign of Aries for the fixed earth sign of Taurus on April 29.  Venus rules Taurus (in addition to Libra), so is it is a very happy camper in Taurus.  Venus remains in Taurus until May 23.  When Venus is in Taurus, we are more grounded, rational, nurturing and sensual.  We want to enjoy the finer things in life and commitment is more appealing, which is a marked change from Venus in Aries, which loves the thrill of the chase.  Kindness and common sense prevail with Venus in Taurus.  Since Venus is also associated with finances we can also be more focused on building wealth and saving money. Just be mindful that Venus in Taurus has a tendency to be stubborn and possessive, but otherwise, this should be an enjoyable transit.

On April 30, Mars enters Aries and stays there until June 9.  Mars is definitely in its happy place in Aries because it rules the cardinal fire sign of Aries.  It will be a time of initiation and activity. We will have more confidence and increased drive.  It denotes a period of moving forward and implementing plans.  And, now that Mercury is finally direct, that is a good thing.  Of course, the shadow side of Mars in Aries is being too impulsive in our behavior or having angry outbursts.  But any inertia or lack of clarity in our actions that prevailed when Mars was in Pisces is gone.

May kicks off with Pluto stationing retrograde in 2 degrees of Aquarius on May 2.  Pluto will remain retrograde until October 11.  Pluto is retrograde for about five months every year, but this year it starts out in Aquarius and moves back into Capricorn on September 1 for one last time until November 19.  Then Pluto is in Aquarius until March 8, 2043. When Pluto is retrograde, we need to reckon with our inner shadows, toxic beliefs and patterns and deep-rooted psychological and emotional wounds in order to regenerate.  It is an opportunity to resolve compulsive behaviors and addictions.  When Pluto is in Aquarius, there will be collective transformation, societal upheavals and revolutions.  And Pluto's sojourn into Capricorn will see some structural overhauls and power shifts.  In short, this year's Pluto retrograde will be one big purge period.

Mars and Uranus Meet Up, Pluto Goes Retrograde and Venus and Neptune Square Off

 

We are in that weird, somewhat uncomfortable space that is the week between eclipses.  On April 20, 2023, we had a potent Solar Eclipse in 29 degrees of Aries, the second New Moon in Aries of this year.  The effects of that eclipse are still being felt: both Tucker Carlson of Fox News and Don Lemon of CNN were released from their respective networks on April 24 and Harry Belafonte died on April 25.  Who says that eclipses don't bring dramatic endings so that new beginnings can happen? The next eclipse occurs on May 5 in 14 degrees of Scorpio, and it promises to be a highly emotional Lunar Eclipse.

On April 29, Mars in Cancer is forming a supportive sextile to Uranus in 18 degrees of Taurus.  I personally love sextile aspects because they present as opportunities.  Mars is the planet associated with action and getting your desires met, but Mars is not all that comfortable in the sign of Cancer.  It is considered to be in fall and tends to be more timid or passive-aggressive in Cancer.  Uranus is not all that comfortable in Taurus, either, but it has been in Taurus since 2018 and has been acting out by quite literally blowing up the earth and shaking up our financial systems.  When Mars in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus are sextile on April 29, there will be opportunities for growth and productivity.  Fun and excitement are possible, as new people and situations could come into our lives.  Uranus will enlighten us and reveal something to us.  However, we need to be mindful of the fact that Uranus in Taurus will change our circumstances in a way that feels like the rug is being pulled out from under us, pushing Mars in Cancer to find the courage to pursue our desires.  The Moon enters Virgo about an hour before the sextile occurs and forms an irritating inconjunct to Pluto in Aquarius.  We all know that inconjuncts demand that some kind of adjustment be made.  The Virgo Moon inconjunct Pluto in Aquarius will require some kind of psychological adjustment and if you are currently experiencing any health issues, I encourage you to get them checked out at this time.  More could be revealed by the time of the Lunar Eclipse on May 5.

I am trying to be hopeful about this upcoming sextile because it does heavily influence my natal chart.  Mars in Cancer will be conjunct my Cancer Midheaven and Uranus in Taurus is opposing my Sun in Scorpio. Both of these aspects have a one-degree orb with my Midheaven and Sun.  I have had transiting Uranus opposing my Sun since June 2022 and it will be exact in mid-May 2023.  I wouldn't call it a fun transit, but it is forcing me to accept the challenges that it is presenting and I am trying to go with the flow, which is often easier said than done.  I am trying to rely on Mars in Cancer trining my Sun in Scorpio to supply the courage to move forward, as we all must these days.  If you have any planets around 18 degrees of the cardinal or fixed signs, I can tell you that you will feel the effects of this aspect and I encourage you to make the most of it.  Just be very grateful that Mars and Uranus are not squaring or opposing each other, because that can generate quite a bit of tension and upheaval.

On May 1, Pluto stations retrograde in 0 degrees of Aquarius.  This means that Pluto will slip back into Capricorn on June 11, 2023.  Pluto will remain retrograde until October 10, when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  Pluto doesn't get back into Aquarius until January 20, 2024 but it only stays in Aquarius until September 1, 2024.  It has one more trip into Capricorn until it re-enters Aquarius on November 19, 2024 to stay until March 8, 2043.

Pluto retrogrades every year, but it will be a little different this year because it is straddling the two signs of Aquarius and Capricorn.  Pluto retrograde represents a time of reckoning so that we can focus on our own personal shadow side: our unpleasant qualities, including our need for control and power.  It is when we should be purging our resentments and letting go is a key theme.  This can definitely involve releasing people from our lives.  I am not flat-out predicting deaths and major break-ups but they could happen, so be prepared...

We have one more aspect prior to the Lunar Eclipse on May 5 that could have a major impact on love and finances.  On May 4,  Venus in Gemini is exactly squaring Neptune in 26 degrees in Pisces.  Our insecurities about our self and our appearance could surface.  It will be very easy to get taken advantage of, be disappointed and we will be prone to a lack of self-esteem and self-discipline.  All I can tell you is not to get seduced by romantic ideas because the rose-colored glasses are out in full force.  There is one perk with this aspect, though--if you are a creative type, you just might be on the receiving end of some major inspiration.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Pluto Retrogrades in Capricorn, Mercury Enters Its Home Sign of Gemini and Eclipse Season Kicks off with a Solar Eclipse in Taurus

 

This is one of the biggest weeks astrologically speaking of the year 2022.  On April 30, we have our first eclipse of the year: a Solar Eclipse in 10 degrees of Taurus.  But on April 29, Pluto stations retrograde in 28 degrees of Capricorn until October 8 and Mercury enters Gemini for an extended stay due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde on May 10.

Pluto retrogrades every year for about five months and it's not as traumatic or dramatic as Mercury, Mars or Venus retrograde.  But it does force us to confront issues of power and control on an internal level.  And the thing about Pluto retrograde is that its effects can be felt strongly for about five days before and after the station, so pay attention to what comes up for you between April 24 and May 4.  Pluto retrograde has a theme of spiritual transformation and indicates a time when you feel the need to step into your power. It's an inside job; nothing is going to change on the outside until you change your approach to power and control.  It's also no secret that anyone with planets in 27-29 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn will be feeling the effects of this Pluto station the most intensely.  Once again, I am in the line of fire with my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer.

Mercury is moving into Gemini on April 29, the day before the Solar Eclipse.  Mercury is a happy camper in Gemini, since it rules Gemini and Virgo.  When Mercury is in Gemini, we are more communicative, curious and sociable. We are more inclined to pursue a more superficial level of knowledge on a variety of subjects rather than focus intently on one subject.  There is a lot of nervous energy present and we can be easily distracted.  Mercury will be spending quite a bit of time in Gemini due to the upcoming Mercury retrograde that I mentioned earlier.  Mercury stations retrograde in 4 degrees of Gemini on May 10, shifts back into Taurus on May 22, stations direct in 26 degrees of Taurus on June 3 and re-enters Gemini on June 13, where it stays until July 5.  So Mercury is having a long run in one of its home signs.

The Solar Eclipse in 10 degrees of Taurus happens on April 30.  Solar Eclipses can be felt up to three months before they occur and up to one year afterwards.  Eclipses deliver big changes; there is no doubt about it.  This is a north node Solar Eclipse (the north node is currently in Taurus), which is very future-oriented and has a lot to do with our collective destiny.  An eclipse in Taurus will undoubtedly have major impacts on money and our values.  This Solar Eclipse is also widely conjunct Uranus in 14 degrees of Taurus, raising the ante for surprises, breakthroughs, liberation and the potential for explosive events.  This includes the possibility of financial upsets.  It can bring fresh perspectives, clarity and reveal some secrets.

What else is happening planetarily on this eclipse?  Venus and Jupiter are conjunct in 27 degrees of Pisces.  This is definitely a big love aspect that brings out our compassion and love of the arts.  So it's a boon for creativity as well.  If you are looking for love, this is the perfect day to set some new intentions for love because a Solar Eclipse is a New Moon on steroids and we all know how beneficial it can be to plant the seeds for a new way of life on a New Moon.

Venus in Pisces is also trining the South Node in 22 degrees of Scorpio on the Solar Eclipse, further emphasizing the themes of love, money, values and passions.  This aspect can manifest in some type of loss or rebirth too.  We can't forget that Saturn in Aquarius has been squaring the North Node in Taurus and South Node in Scorpio, which has been challenging our structures and the choices we are making for the future.

You might want to reflect on the last time we had a Solar Eclipse in Taurus and a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio.  Yes, folks, eclipses come in pairs, which means that we have a Lunar Eclipse coming up in 25 degrees of Scorpio on May 16.  This eclipse pairing last occurred in April and May of 2013.  Back then we had a Lunar Eclipse in 5 degrees of Scorpio on April 25 and a Solar Eclipse in 19 degrees of Taurus on May 10.  I like to believe that Solar Eclipses are a little easier to take because they symbolize fresh starts and new beginnings, while Lunar Eclipses tend to bring some closure or completion of a cycle.  Back in 2013 the world was dealing with the tumultuous squares between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.  On a personal level, I was profoundly affected by these eclipses because I was in the throes of deciding to leave a job in the real world and pursue my passion of astrology.  I had a feeling that a period of my life was coming to a close and it was scary, sad and invigorating all at the same time.  Now I am sensing that my life is about to undergo another massive change, perhaps an ending of the cycle that I embarked on nine years ago.  Time will tell, but I can tell you that the Solar Eclipse in Taurus is opposing my Saturn in Scorpio and squaring my Mars in Aquarius.  And the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 16 will be conjunct my Sun and Venus in Scorpio while squaring my Pluto in Leo.  Of course the Lunar Eclipse also trines my Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer, so there is hope...
