Super Full Moon in Cancer and Uranus Stationing Direct Starts 2018 with a Bang

The year 2018 starts off on a highly charged emotional note with a super full moon in 11 degrees of Cancer on January 1, 2018.  This is the first of two full moons in January, the second one (aka a blue moon) ushering in the first eclipse of 2018 in the form of a lunar eclipse in 11 degrees of Leo.

The full moon on January 1, 2018 is a big deal for a multitude of reasons.  First of all, the moon will be in its home sign of Cancer, so expect it to be highly emotional.  It’s also a super full moon because it is so close to the earth and will be strikingly visible.  Super full moons have a much stronger pull on our psyche and a full moon in Cancer is incredibly emotional.  This full moon is also involved in a grand water trine with Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces and Mars in 14 degrees of Scorpio.  It will be a profoundly sensitive, psychic and creative time.  And with Jupiter in Scorpio, I wouldn’t be surprised if more deep secrets regarding sex and abuses of power are revealed.

We also have the sun, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn adding to the heady mix of this full moon.  Naturally the sun would be in Capricorn during a Cancer full moon, but having two heavy hitters like Saturn and Pluto (who are headed for their own rendezvous courtesy of a conjunction in 22 degrees of Capricorn on January 2020) increases the emphasis on emotional and practical security.  Issues of social control are bound to come up and we may be hearing more news about resistance to governmental control.  The north node in 15 degrees of Leo will also be conjunct Ceres in 17 degrees of Leo during this full moon, triggering a sense of courage and bravery to protect the earth at this time.  And with the extremes of weather we have been facing recently, this can’t come soon enough.

Full moons can also be a time of closure and endings.  On a personal level, it is conjunct my south node in Cancer in my 9th house.  I guess it will definitely be time for me to release some old karmic baggage and emotional dependency issues.  This is a pretty loaded transit. But releasing outworn behavior patterns is a good thing and a fine way to ring in the new year of 2018.

On January 2, 2018, Uranus in 24 degrees of Aries will station direct after being retrograde since August 3, 2017.  Uranus stationed retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries in August just prior to the August eclipse season.  All of that internal rebellion that has been simmering since then is ready to explode so that the rebellion can be more externalized.  The inner rebel is about to go very public and gets a gigantic cosmic boost with all of the planets being direct.

Mars in Scorpio will also be squaring the nodes of the moon in 15 degrees of Leo and Aquarius on January 2, 2018, which could definitely trigger some issues from that first lunar eclipse in 15 degrees of Aquarius on August 7, 2017. Hopefully it can manifest in some cooperative work efforts to start off 2018 in a more constructive fashion.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including eclipses, Saturn in Capricorn and Jupiter in Scorpio will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. Capricorn Season is Officially Launched as the Sun and Venus Enter Capricorn and Mercury Stations Direct

The season of Capricorn is officially here.  Saturn entered Capricorn on December 19, 2017, inspiring me to tweet:
Saturn joined Pluto in Capricorn, which has been with us since 2008 and the Sun entered Capricorn on December 21, 2017 for the Winter Solstice.  The sun also conjuncted the newly minted Saturn in Capricorn on December 21. 2017.  The sun conjunct Saturn is a very serious aspect.  Trust me on this one because I have the sun conjunct Saturn natally in Scorpio.  The sun conjunct Saturn can feel restrictive and sometimes depressing because Saturn has a way of restricting the life force of the sun.  And this aspect did occur on the day when we have the least amount of sunlight, literally the shortest day of the year. But there is a perk to a Sun/Saturn conjunction: it can make you feel more focused and self-disciplined so that you get back on track in terms of achieving your goals and creating new enduring structures.  Yes, this aspect has a get down to work quality about it, but like all things Saturn, it can reap great rewards if we buckle down and tend to business.

Mercury is stationing direct in 13 degrees of Sagittarius on December 22, 2017 at 8:51 p.m. on the east coast of the United States.  I can already hear the collective sighs of relief on this one.  It has indeed been a particularly grueling Mercury Retrograde and it is literally a cosmic gift for the holidays that Mercury is finally starting to move forward.  Of course, there is still the matter of the Mercury Retrograde shadow that doesn’t clear until late January 2018, but at least Mercury is starting to move faster and we’ll take it. But with Mercury stationing direct, we are also under the influence of a somewhat confusing, nebulous square to Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces for the better part of a week.  How is this aspect going to play out?  Well, on its most evolved level, it can be a highly spiritual and introspective time, which I think many people are already experiencing after a turbulent 2017.  But Mercury squaring Neptune can also mean that imagination can cloud or create a smokescreen regarding logical and rational thinking.  Mercury and Neptune are both in mutable signs, so there is even more of a propensity to literally be all over the place and feeling like we are in a fog. But this aspect is over by the end of 2017, which can help us more forward with more confidence in 2018.  Mercury in Sagittarius is also forming a favorable trine with the north node in 15 degrees of Leo, which is helping us expand the possibilities for our future.  On a personal level, Mercury will be at the end of my second house and the north node is at the end of my tenth house, so I am encouraged by that aspect.

On December 25, 2017 (Christmas Day) Venus joins the Capricorn party when it too enters the sign of Capricorn.  It also conjuncts Saturn in Capricorn, so don’t be surprised if there is a slightly Scrooge vibe to the day.  There may be a heavy emphasis on responsibilities (a key word that describes Saturn) and past hurts may flare up.  On Christmas Day, then moon starts off in Pisces and conjuncts Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces, which certainly supports that theory.  But the moon enters Aries at 7:27 p.m. on Christmas night, so we should be able to recover from any emotional wounds by then and move on emotionally towards our next adventure.

Venus will remain in Capricorn until January 17, 2018.  What is Venus like in Capricorn?  Well, for starters, it’s not as fun-loving as Venus in Sagittarius.  But it does encourage us to get serious about finances and helps us approach relationships in a more mature manner.  Venus in Capricorn gives off a vibe that love must be earned and we are more willing to put in the hard work in relationships to get our needs met. If we do this, we just might be pleasantly surprised at the rewards we reap in those relationships.  Since Capricorn is a more reserved, conservative sign, we also might ourselves adopting a more refined fashion or beauty style.  Venus is also associated with beauty and the arts, so when Venus transits Capricorn, it is an optimal time to get started on artistic projects.  Venus in Capricorn is a worker bee, but that is not a bad thing.  Just be mindful that it has a completely different vibe than Venus in Sagittarius.

I also want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

If you are curious as to how Saturn in Capricorn will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. New Moon in Sagittarius and Saturn Comes Home

The year 2017 is winding down and it is going out with a bang, not a whimper.  On December 9, 2017, Mars entered its home sign of Scorpio, inspiring me to tweet:

But on December 18, 2017, we have a truly stellar lineup in Sagittarius with a new moon in 26 degrees of Sagittarius.  Not only are the sun and moon are in Sagittarius, but Saturn, Venus and retrograde Mercury are all in Sagittarius.  That is five planets in Sagittarius and we also have Uranus in 24 degrees of Aries, another fire sign, trining that new moon. That trine to Uranus in Aries will provide support for making electrifying changes in our lives. With six planets in fire signs, that is a lot of energy adding to the passion, motivation and heightened energy that Mars in Scorpio is already providing.

Sagittarius is a sign associated with optimism, faith, hope and inspiration while a new moon is the optimal time to set new intentions and plant new seeds.  Sagittarius is a very future oriented sign and with Saturn there in its final days it is actually helping to ground us and manifest those new ideas that are buzzing around.  This new moon in Sagittarius should be fairly crackling with inspiration.

Since this is the last new moon of 2017, it is prime time to review what changes we want to make for the next year.  Saturn conjunct the new moon supports change without upsetting the existing structures in our lives, which is a real bonus.  It also reinforces the theme of the Saturn in Sagittarius/Uranus in Aries trine that has been a prominent aspect of 2017.  It’s kind of like your last call to implement those changes. It is an ideal time to act more responsibly and pursue the recognition and achieve the goals that you have been aspiring to. This new moon also forms a conjunction to Venus in Sagittarius, which favors making commitments in relationships.

We have one another important aspect featured in this Sagittarius new moon.  Chiron in 24 degrees of Pisces is squaring the sun, moon and Saturn in Sagittarius.  Yes, I know that Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer, which sounds like a downer with all of the upbeat Sagittarius energy.  But the perk of this aspect is that it can deliver more awareness of those wounds and it can inspire us to make the changes necessary to build a better world.

On December 19, 2017 Saturn will depart the sign of Sagittarius and enter its home sign of Capricorn, where it is truly comfortable.  Mark my words, Saturn in Capricorn through most of 2020 will provide a reality check.  Saturn in Capricorn is all about integrity, sincerity and authenticity.  It seeks quality over quantity and seeks perfection.

With Saturn in Capricorn, the reality check will play out in the areas of finance, world economy and government.  Our leaders will be called to task when Saturn is in Capricorn.  Saturn in Capricorn has a conservative note and it can be a time of tightening resources.  There may be some issues with control from our leaders, but there will still be resistance if that control gets too overbearing.

Saturn in Capricorn wants to restructure.  For many people, that may involve new career choices.  People will definitely be putting in efforts to rebuild, create and restore order. Saturn is the planet associated with aging and is also linked to the skin, teeth and bones.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some anti-aging innovations discovered during the transit of Saturn in Capricorn.  As a baby boomer who has “’age-related cataracts” and is facing cataract surgery in January 2018, I am more than open to some anti-aging innovations.

Saturn has a long run in the sign of Capricorn.  It briefly leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius on March 21, 2020, but due to its retrograde motion, it will re-enter Capricorn on July 1, 2020 until December 17, 2020.

The year 2020 will be a pivotal year, not only because it is the next United States Presidential election.  Saturn in Capricorn will finally align with Pluto in Capricorn in 2020.  This will literally be the Pluto return of the United States.  The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was during the American Revolution because Pluto has a 243 year cycle. When Saturn and Pluto align, there will be major cultural, historical and social changes.  Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will continue to wreak destruction in banking and governments until 2024.  But Pluto also promises rebirth and with the help of Saturn these decaying structures can be rebuilt.

As for me personally, transiting Saturn in Capricorn will conjunct my north node in my third house in March 2018 and it will still be on my north node when it stations retrograde in 9 degrees of Capricorn on April 17, 2018. So I have no doubt that 2018 will be a year of serious changes for me as I continue the journey of my soul’s path.
If you are curious as to how Mars in Scorpio, Mercury retrograde and Saturn in Capricorn will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. Mars Comes Home to Scorpio and Stirs Our Passions

Life is about to get a lot more interesting and passionate as Mars prepares to leave the sign of Libra, where it is distinctly uncomfortable, and enter its home signs of Scorpio.  Mars is right at home in Aries and Scorpio, the two signs that it rules. But before Mars leaves Libra on December 9, 2017, it managed to knock a home run out of the park when Mars in 28 degrees of Libra sextiled both Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius, inspiring me to tweet:
Mars represents our desire nature and when it is in the sign of Scorpio (until January 26, 2018) our desires can be channeled through that renowned Scorpio willpower and focused intention. Mars is very strong in the sign of Scorpio but it also has a tendency to move in secret and in the shadows.  Mars in Scorpio will help us develop a laser sharp focus with our intentions. Not only are our desires stronger when Mars is in Scorpio, our determination to get what we want is even stronger.

Sexuality will be heightened and for those of us with a heavy emphasis on Scorpio or the 8th house in our charts (mea culpa), we may find ourselves becoming downright obsessive in our relationships.  Feelings of aggression, anger and fear of losing control that remained dormant during the transit of Mars in Libra may surface.  We may also find ourselves attracted to crisis, as it is emotionally exciting and can be ultimately transformative, Scorpio is all about transformation and it is an extremist sign, finding it difficult to maintain a middle ground.  Scorpio is an all or nothing sign, no doubt about it.

But Mars in Scorpio does give us the courage to confront our inner and outer demons.  The downside of Mars in Scorpio is that it has an excellent memory and forgiveness does not come easily with this astrological influence.  Mars in Scorpio does not suffer fools gladly.
Obviously, Mars in Scorpio is going to be hitting my chart pretty heavily, with my Mercury, Saturn, Sun, Ceres, Black Moon Lilith and Venus in Scorpio.  I will probably be a force to be reckoned with on December 9th when its conjuncts my Mercury, but my main concern is how I will fare when it conjuncts my Saturn from December 28, 2017 through the end of 2017.  I am well aware of the potential pitfalls of this transit. It could ignite my darkest desires or provide me with the stamina and patience to complete difficult tasks.  It is common knowledge that feelings of anger or resentment could be roaring out of the starting gate with this transit, but I hope that I will have the presence of mind to channel and transmute these feelings productively into positive achievements instead of getting mired in the destructive Scorpionic cycle of revenge.

But Mars in Scorpio will be making a marvelously beneficial conjunction to Jupiter in 17 degrees of Scorpio on January 6, 2018. Mars will get a real lift from hooking up with Jupiter in Scorpio and Jupiter will have more depth with the winning combination of desires (Mars) and faith (Jupiter).  I am sure everyone has noticed how many sexual secrets have been coming out since Jupiter entered the highly charged sex sign of Scorpio.  Mars joining Jupiter will amplify the emphasis on private matters that were unethical, abusive, illegal and unacceptable.

Mars conjunct Jupiter in Scorpio will be an opportune time to start anything that requires initiative, energy and courage.  Physical energy is augmented as is self-confidence. There is also strong potential for new relationships to occur because many will feel the need to literally get physical. This aspect is two degrees away from my sun and I am looking forward to this conjunction.

I would be remiss if I didn’t warn you about one thorny aspect that occurs on December 10, 2017.  Venus in 11 degrees of Sagittarius forms a challenging square with Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces.  This can be pretty tough on love and finances because Neptune is notorious for bringing an unrealistic perspective.  But it does have an upside because it fuels imagination and bouts of heightened creativity.

If you are curious as to how Mars in Scorpio, Mercury retrograde and the season of Sagittarius will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. Double Whammy with Mercury Retrograde and a Super Full Moon in Gemini

December 3, 2017 will be one astrologically intense day, mark my words.  We will literally be undergoing a double whammy with Mercury stationing retrograde in 29 degrees of Sagittarius at 2:34 a.m. and a full moon in 11 degrees of Gemini opposing the sun at 10:47 a.m.  Full moons are always a time of heightened emotions, but this is technically a super full moon because the moon is very close to the earth.  It will have a strong effect, some of us may face closure and there could be even more scandalous revelations.

Gemini is one of the signs ruled by Mercury (Virgo is the other sign) and Gemini is all about communication and logic.  And Mercury stationing retrograde on the same day of a full moon is extremely problematic and complicated.  This full moon will be forming a T-square to Neptune in 11 degrees of Pisces because both the sun in Sagittarius and moon in Gemini square it, which can have a tendency to dissolve that Gemini logic.  It can, however, be a highly creative and spiritual time.

Another important aspect that occurs on this full moon is that Mercury stationing retrograde will be conjunct Saturn in Sagittarius.  This aspect also occurred on November 28th, inspiring me to tweet:

And this aspect occurs again on December 6, 2017.  This is a big deal because Mercury stationed retrograde in 29 degrees, which is considered the critical degree... What happens when Mercury conjuncts Saturn?  Serious news comes out and with a full moon in Gemini, this could play out as some rather revealing emails being exposed.  But the plus side of Mercury in Sagittarius is that it does seek out higher consciousness and the meaning of wisdom.

Here is a litany of the themes that could manifest with this full moon due to its T-square to Neptune in Pisces: deception, scandals, thefts, difficult to diagnose illnesses and experiences that seem to defy reality.  The sun in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces increases the risk of confusion, deception and disappointment.  Depression is also possible, as is the tendency to engage in substance abuse.  The moon in Gemini squaring Neptune in Pisces cautions us to beware of making important decisions and not be taken in by con artists.  The bottom line is to not fall in the trap of being gullible during this full moon.

Now that I have everyone alarmed regarding this full moon, I also want to alert you to the saving grace of this full moon which is quite literally a silver lining.  There is an amazingly wonderful Jupiter in Scorpio/Neptune in Scorpio trine that is exact on the full moon and pretty much in effect through August 2018.  Jupiter in Scorpio will expand the divine spirituality of Neptune in Pisces. This lovely, flowing aspect will allow us to shift our consciousness and create a new reality.  It is marvelous healing energy and a perfect time for experiencing new healing modalities, especially energy healing.

I don’t want to minimize the potential for this particular Mercury retrograde to wreak havoc.  Mercury in Sagittarius is not especially detail oriented, so it is highly likely that there will be many communication and transportation snafus during this holiday season.  Mercury will station direct on December 22, 2017 in 13 degrees of Sagittarius, but I wouldn’t want to be traveling during the holidays.  Mercury retrograde before the holidays increases the potential for gifts ordered online not reaching their destination before Christmas.  Remember the key words associated with Mercury retrograde: research, review and revise.  Try not to sign any contracts, accept a new job or launch any new endeavors if you can help it. Consider where this Mercury retrograde is happening in your chart.  It starts in my 3rd house and it stations direct in my 2nd house in 13 degrees of Sagittarius.  First I get the full communication issues experience during Mercury retrograde (talk about another double whammy) and then financial ones.

As for the full moon in 11 degrees of Gemini, it falls in my 8th house and conjuncts my natal moon.  The theme of finances continues for me.  I’m sure I will be in highly emotional state that day but at least it will be beneficial for my Reiki work!

We have another bit of astrological good tidings coming up.  On December 5, 2017, Chiron stations direct in 24 degrees of Pisces.  Chiron has been retrograde since July 1, 2017.  Chiron is frequently referred to as the Wounded Healer and I suspect that many of us have spent the last five months getting deeper in touch with our wounds.  Now that Chiron is moving in a direct motion (it will be actually be entering the sign of Aries briefly in April 2018) we are in a better place to accept our wounds and learn from them so that they can truly teach us as we move forward and heal.

If you are curious as to how Mercury retrograde and the season of Sagittarius will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. Recently I undertook an intensive life purpose coaching training program and became certified as a Life Purpose Coach.  It was an intense, eye-opening experience that changed my life as it caused me to reflect on the story of my life.  But I left it with feelings of hope and light for the future that I want to share with others.  To that end, I am now offering Life Purpose Coaching to my menu of services.  You can read more about it at:

As an astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign. Especially with 2017 being a Universal Year 1, this is a marvelous time to navigate a new direction in your life that will fulfill you and your soul’s purpose. If you are feeling stuck and need some help in getting from Point A to Point B in your quest for making positive changes in your life, please email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to schedule a complementary telephone consultation to discover if you are a good fit for this program.  I look forward to hearing from you.

If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.  I am also offering Reiki treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.

But the big news is that I have created and launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel free to check it out at:

I was also featured in the July 3rd edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

As the holiday season approaches, you might want to consider purchasing a package deal as a special gift for your loved ones. I am offering four options: Silver, Gold, Platinum and a Tarot special for my tarot clients. Please check it out at:
