A Sweet Valentine’s Day with Mercury and Jupiter Kissing and Then Saturn Squares Uranus and the Sun Enters Pisces

Today is actually the Lunar New Year of the Ox but yesterday, February 11, we had an amazing New Moon in Aquarius, which inspired me to tweet:

But Valentine’s Day is this Sunday and we actually have pretty pleasant aspects going for us.  The Moon enters Aries in the morning, which should add to our ardor and it conjuncts Chiron in Aries, and this is a good thing because it can help heal longstanding wounds in relationships.  But the sweetest aspect is Mercury and Jupiter conjunct in 13 degrees of Aquarius.   These two planets bring good news and optimism.  We are more prone to utter sweet nothings their union promotes peace and harmony, which are very Aquarian themes. I am psyched because these two are also conjunct my Mars in Aquarius in my 4th house.

But the elephant in the room is the big square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus occurring on February 17.  This is just the first of three Saturn-Uranus squares of 2021.  The next two fall on June 14 and December 24.  Mark my words, this aspect will be to 2021 what the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn was to 2020.  It will have far-reaching implications that will define this year of transition.  Many people have told me that they are already feeling its effects.

Saturn in 7 degrees of Aquarius is exactly square Uranus in 7 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect screams friction and has a strong theme of change but it can manifest as change that you don’t want or extreme difficulty in implementing the changes that you do want.  Add the fact that personal freedoms and rights have a restrictive vibe and you have a perfect storm.  The Moon is also in Taurus on the 17th conjuncting Uranus, so some kind of emotional upheaval is quite likely. The Moon is squaring Mercury and Saturn in Aquarius as well, amping up the level of tension and potential for conflict. Saturn is strong in Aquarius and was once considered to be the ruler of Aquarius, but Uranus is very uncomfortable in Taurus. Taurus is fixed earth and loves the finer things in life.  What we have here is a massive battle between structure and control vs. change.

This is certainly not the first time we have undergone a Saturn-Uranus square.  One of the perks of age is that you get to live through certain transits and acquire some insight from them.  The last time Saturn and Uranus were squaring each other was in May 2000, and, ironically enough, Saturn was in Taurus and Uranus was in Aquarius.  Technology featured prominently back then because the squares actually started forming in 1999, which inspired the great Y2K fear.  No, the Internet didn’t crash and ATM’s didn’t close down, but there were rampant fears back then that those things would happen.  We also saw the dot.com bubble which burst. And ultimately the Saturn-Uranus square of 2000 led to 9/11 and the War on Terror.  There is no denying that 9/11 changed the world as we know it and now we can say that COVID-19 has rocked our world and our use of technology has been an invaluable tool during this pandemic.  Where would many of us be without Zoom or FaceTime?  Probably a lot more frustrated than we already are.  We are dealing with internal terrorists, if the insurrection of January 6 is any indication.  The bottom line is that we are headed towards a new world that will be quite dynamic.  And the trick to dealing with this uncomfortable feeling is to not resist it too much.  Try to remember the concept of the Serenity Prayer: “God grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things I can and the WISDOM to know the difference.” And incorporate it into your life during these challenging times.

The Sun moves into the mutable water sign of Pisces on the following day, February 18.  This signifies the start of the Aquarius energy breaking up.  Okay, we still have Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius (Saturn is in Aquarius until March 2023) but even Jupiter takes a break from Aquarius and moves into Pisces briefly this year from May 13 to July 28 before it re-enters Pisces on December 28 for a longer-lasting run.  Venus leaves Aquarius for Pisces on February 25 and Mercury will leave Aquarius on March 15.

But what can we expect when the Sun is in Pisces?  Our energy is directed towards our dreams (start a dream journal now if you don’t already have one) and heeding our intuition and instincts.  We are being guided by altruistic feelings as we are more inclined to demonstrate empathy and selfless love.  As a Scorpio, I tend to love this transit because Pisces is in my 5th house for part of its transit and it trines my Scorpio and Cancer planets. Just be mindful of the shadow side of the Sun in Pisces: feelings of self-pity, victimization and a desire to escape, which can include addiction.  Enjoy the next few weeks before the astrological New Year begins in earnest when the Sun moves into Aries.

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I recently learned that I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. When it becomes clearer that the virus no longer poses a threat, I will find a new space to practice. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Valentine’s Day Astrology Features Mercury out of the Shadow and Back in Aquarius

The astrology for Valentine’s Day 2016 will be memorable if nothing else because the wrath of Mercury Retrograde’s shadow will finally be over.  I know that Mercury retrograde officially ended on January 25th, but like so many other people I have been in contact with recently (when I could reach them), the shadow has prevailed and caused quite a few snafus with email, computers, smart phones acting stupid (I typed at tweet that said rift and it came out gift), telephone messages and snail mail, including package deliveries.

On February 14th, Mercury re-enters Aquarius, the sign it was in when it stationed retrograde on January 5th.  I sense that there will be a collective sigh of relief heard around the world now that we FINALLY have a green light to pursue our goals and resolutions for 2016.  It appears that the Chinese New Year of the Monkey, which began on February 8th, is a more accurate predictor of when it feels like 2016 has been launched.

What it is it about this particular Mercury in Capricorn that has made it so challenging and difficult?  Plenty.  Mercury in Capricorn has conjuncted the Sun, Pluto and Venus in Capricorn while also squaring Uranus in Aries.  Did you feel the frustration and sense of delays in relationships and finances? Were you caught in the middle of some intense power plays?  While Mercury in Capricorn can be very focused, it is also very sober and practical and has a tendency to become too rigid while projecting a cold, harsh demeanor.  The bottom line is that we may have experienced trouble discerning the fine line between realism and pessimism.

Mercury in Capricorn conjuncted my Chiron in the 4th house and opposed my midheaven, Jupiter and Uranus in the 10th house and squared my Libra ascendant.  Is it any wonder that I have felt held back, irritable and impatient?  I know that I have been really hard on myself and those around me.  And winter weather, like snowstorms that keep me home and force me to reschedule Reiki appointments didn’t improve my disposition.

Now we know that Mercury is finally back in Aquarius, which is bound to make communication more unconventional and inspiring, which should lighten the tone.  But we have some other pretty nice aspects coming up on Valentine’s Day.  Mercury will form an out of sign conjunction with Venus in 26 degrees of Capricorn, so we may find it much easier to communicate and share with our loved ones on Valentine’s Day.  Neptune in Pisces is forming a nice conjunction with Ceres, the dwarf planet (formerly referred to as an asteroid) that is associated with nurturing.  How sweet is that?  Having both Neptune and Ceres will fuel our compassion and nurturing side through fantasy and imagination.  Prepare for a really romantic Valentine’s Day with this aspect.  The Pisces theme of compassion and healing is further emphasized by having Chiron in Pisces conjunct the south node of the moon in Pisces.  It can help release and heal old emotional wounds.  And Mars in Scorpio is sextiling Venus in Capricorn, which will ramp up the passion element.  Mars in Scorpio is also sextiling the north node in Virgo as well as Jupiter in Virgo which can help us deal with issues more directly thus avoiding ugly confrontations.

We are also still benefiting from the ongoing alignment of Jupiter conjuncting the north node in Virgo as it guides us intuitively on our path. The north node in Virgo has an underlying theme of service to others.  In that spirit of pursuing my path as a healer, I am channeling that north node and Jupiter in Virgo energy by offering my Reiki services. If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off.  Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

Ceres Dominates -The Dwarf Planet Rules for Valentine's Day

Ceres, the former asteroid reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006, is presiding over and ruling the action for Valentine's Day this coming weekend. In a week where the only other major astrological activity going on was Mercury resuming direct motion on February 11th, Ceres became the key player.

Ceres is currently in the sign of Capricorn, and this placement has a tendency to align our self-worth with our latest accomplishments, but on February 12th it squared Uranus in Aries. This could have definitely triggered a rebellious attitude in this area and a strong desire for change.

What exactly does Ceres represent astrologically? In her groundbreaking book Asteroid Goddesses written in 1984, Demetra George said:

"Ceres describes the ways in which we face the issues of self-worth and self-esteem, relationships to our parents and children, attachment, dependency, loss and separation, rejection, grief, sharing, work and productivity."

She also says that the multitude of psychological traits Ceres governs make it impossible to rule just one sign. As the ruler of Cancer, Ceres addresses the issues of how we give and receive nurturance, develop feelings of self-worth, how we provide and care for others and how we respond neurotically if these needs are not met. Ceres also rules the Taurus-Scorpio polarity, which involves lessons of attachment and aversion, the pathology of loss and rejection, the capacity for grief and sorrow and the principle of sharing. And finally, Ceres' rulership of Virgo addresses the issues of productivity, growth, self-reliance and work. I don't know about you, but I think that calling Ceres a dwarf planet is kind of a misnomer with her workload!

Ceres was once thought to be part of Pluto and on February 15th, Ceres will conjunct Pluto in 15 degrees of Capricorn. How is this aspect going to play out? For starters, it will demand that we release goals and attachments that no longer serve us. We will also need to accept that our fear of loss might very well represent a necessary death on some level which precedes a rebirth.

Ceres is becoming a major player in the ongoing Uranus Pluto square, which will be exact on March 17, 2015 in 15 degrees of Aries and Capricorn. But many of us are already feeling its effects now, especially in the area of relationships. I don't think it is a cosmic accident that Ceres formed major aspects with both Uranus and Pluto around Valentine’s Day. It is preparing us for the final round of changes the last Uranus Pluto square will deliver. Changes in relationships are a huge issue for many folks these days.

Naturally, this prompted me to examine my own Ceres. I have Ceres in 27 degrees of Scorpio conjunct my natal Venus in the 2nd house and squaring my Pluto in Leo in the 11th house. I'm sure this placement has a lot to do with my love of harmony and beautiful things (Venus conjunct Ceres knows no bounds when it comes to self-nurturing through shopping), but it also explains my desire to nurture others, provide for them and be an agent of healing and transformation. Ceres squaring my natal Pluto is not so easy to deal with, however. This is definitely where the power struggles and negotiations for nurturing comes from. It also contributes to my frequent inability to let go--I can be like Ceres negotiating with Pluto for Persephone!  But the positive side of Ceres squaring Pluto can be the ability to nurture others back to health and transform them through nurturing. I sense that my becoming a healer is a more constructive use of that aspect.

I also have Ceres trining my natal Uranus in Cancer, which has led me to pursue a path of spiritual growth in some rather unique ways. After all, I am an intuitive astrologer, psychic and Reiki healer. The other piece with Ceres trining Uranus is that it makes me cherish and appreciate the need for both intimacy and space in relationships.

I am also pondering how transiting Ceres in Capricorn will be affecting me during the Uranus Pluto square in March. It won't be in the middle degrees of Capricorn then; it will be closer to the end of Capricorn and conjunct my natal Chiron in the 4th house. I am no stranger to Chiron transits, having recently survived Chiron's long-term square to my moon, which was not exactly a day at the beach, despite the waterworks it triggered.  But it did manage to achieve a great deal of emotional healing. Hopefully, this upcoming transit will require a less painful form of surrender for any more healing to occur.

I'd like to wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day by engaging my Ceres with a special Valentine's Day promotion. Full Snow Moon in Leo on Valentine's Day

How terribly ironic that as I began writing this post, a snowstorm was raging in full force with the moon in Leo!  I always associate the sign of Leo with the sun, warmth, optimism, and the heat of summer yet here we are in the midst of a long, cold snowy winter that is becoming downright depressing for many of us.  Leave it to a Leo moon to dramatize the contrast.  And that moon is full at 26 degrees of Leo at 6:53 p.m. tonight.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

I have no doubt that this will be a memorable Valentine’s Day astrologically speaking.  This whole week has been building up to an emphasis on relationships.  On February 11th the Sun in 22 degrees of Aquarius squared Saturn in 22 degrees of Scorpio.  This aspect certainly delivered a reality check and forced us to confront some rather inconvenient truths.   The recent Venus Pluto conjunction in Capricorn has caused a major shift in relationships by forcing us to get real and serious.  There is a take no prisoners’ quality to this aspect; it is all or nothing.  It was high time to let go of grudges and get to the bottom of things in order to heal and rebuild on a more solid foundation.  If fear of commitment was one of those issues, it had to be addressed.  Venus and Pluto in Capricorn want deep, committed love, no bones about it.  We also have Mars in an extended stay in Libra, the sign of relationships, triggering issues of control versus surrender and compromise in relationships.  Mars in Libra wants to achieve a balance between dominance and submission because it is the key to ensuring a lasting bond.

This full moon amplifies the potential for emotional outbursts, but the wisest course of action is step back when things get too hot and don’t react.  I know that sounds easier said than done, but we do need to be mindful of balancing the heart (Leo) with the head (Aquarius).  The full moon also features in a t-square with Saturn in Scorpio testing the limits of relationships and urging us to be mindful of our decisions. Saturn’s role in this full moon is to help us create a balance between male and female energy. Molly Hall succinctly pointed out that we need to trust in the process of death and rebirth during this full moon.  A full moon in Leo also supports the need to love ourselves by paying attention to that inner child, awaken to our heart’s desires, and act on our truth so that we can more fully love others.

I confess that this full moon is impacting me pretty intensely.  The full moon forms an exact conjunction with my natal Pluto in the 11th house.  I have endured emotional extremes and constant confrontations of my fears.  I am sure that power struggles will loom on the horizon as well before this full moon is over.  I am conscious of the 11th house implication because I am contemplating becoming an independent contractor with a healing center by practicing Reiki.  There is definitely a part of me that wants to belong to a group that is doing work that resonates with my soul.  But this involves renting space and interestingly enough, this full moon also squares my natal Venus in Scorpio in the 2nd house.  Is it any wonder that I am unsure of how to proceed with financial matters?  I am hesitant to sign anything with Mercury still retrograde!  My instincts are telling me not to commit to anything until late March when Mercury is finally out of its retrograde shadow.  And this full moon is also sextiling my natal Neptune in Libra, which reinforces my intuitive insights and creative abilities.  I need to trust those instincts and find the best fit for an alliance that will best serve all parties, including my potential new clients.

This is the absolute last chance to take advantage of my special Valentine’ Day promotion.    I am offering a 20% discount on my Composite Couples, Healing Your Love Karma and Black Moon Lilith Shadow reports. You will need to contact me directly by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205 to receive this special discount.
