Halloween Has Some Astrological Tricks and Treats in Store for Us

Scorpio season is officially here, as I noted in my tweet of October 23, 2018:
The season of Scorpio has only one holiday and that is Halloween on October 31st.  This year features a plethora of aspects that are quite the bag of tricks and treats astrologically.

Mercury enters the sign of Sagittarius at 12:38 a.m. on the east coast of the United States.  This will definitely cause a shift from plumbing those Scorpionic depths to learning more about a wide range of topics as our thinking becomes more idealistic, optimistic and we experience an increase in faith. Faith is something that we could all use more of in light of recent events in the world.  When Mercury is in Sagittarius, facts are less important and details can be overlooked as the truth becomes an issue. Mercury in Sagittarius is prone to speaking without thinking, however, so beware of foot in mouth disease and being too blunt, especially with Mercury retrograde approaching on November 16, 2018.  Mercury will station retrograde in 13 degrees of Sagittarius on that day, slip back into Scorpio on December 1, 2018 and station direct in Scorpio on December 6, 2018 in 27 degrees of Scorpio.  But then Mercury will move back into Sagittarius until January 5, 2019.

Mercury retrograde’s shadow will officially begin on October 29, 2018 in 27 degrees of Scorpio and it will leave its shadow period on December 24, 2018 in 13 degrees of Sagittarius.  Merry Christmas!

On Halloween, the newly minted Mercury in Sagittarius will form an irritating inconjunct with retrograde Uranus in Taurus.  This aspect can bring an overload of upheaval related to communications and adjustments in ideas may be necessary to implement any changes we need to make in our lives.  Adjustment is always a key theme with inconjuncts, no two days about it.

The moon is in Leo on Halloween and it also forms a couple of irritating inconjunct aspects.  It inconjuncts Saturn in Capricorn, which can bring up issues of discipline, responsibility and organization.  I have a natal moon/Saturn inconjunct and I can attest that is an aspect that forces you to grow up early due to a parent not being present either on a physical or emotional level.  So if you are feeling like you are forced to take responsibility on Halloween, this is the reason.

The Leo moon also inconjuncts Neptune in Pisces.  This aspect can manifest in extreme emotional sensitivity in terms of picking up others’ feelings.  Once again, there is an aura of emotional overload and we may feel confused, question our instincts or engage in escapism, such as drugs, alcohol, movies or music.  This is exacerbated by Neptune’s placement in its ruling sign of Pisces, which takes the art of escapism to a whole new level.  The key to adjustment here may lie in finding a way to filter the psychic information that is being received.

The Leo moon is also busy forming a challenging square to the sun in Scorpio on Halloween.  This will undoubtedly bring to the surface any relationship tensions that have been simmering.  Obstacles may manifest through attracting challenging situations as an unconscious attempt to recreate some unresolved conflicts from childhood.

Venus is also a key player in the Halloween drama of trick or treat.  Retrograde Venus in Scorpio starts the day off by opposing retrograde Uranus in Taurus. How is this going to play out?  It can indicate changes in our love life, finances or values and bring tension to existing relationships.  Or we could find ourselves attracted to unusual people. Financial windfalls are also possible, but there is also the potential to feel like gambling.  You never quite know with Uranus, as it has a wild card vibe and is retrograde to boot.

But the real astrological treat of Halloween is that retrograde Venus slips back into the more harmonious and friendly sign of Libra at 3:42 p.m. on the east coast of the United States.  Venus in Libra is very comfortable and it lends a peacemaking vibe to relationships.  Venus will station direct in 25 degrees of Libra on November 16, 2018 and will remain in Libra until December 2, 2018.  When Venus is in Libra, we find that cooperation is easier as we are naturally more polite, charming and diplomatic.  Make the most of this lighter Venusian energy as it is truly a do-over for any events that transpired in early September 2018.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot and we only have another couple of weeks of Jupiter in Scorpio. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. I even offer the option of tarot readings. There is something for everyone.

And don’t forget about my Venus Retrograde Special.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.  I am also offering Reiki treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.

But the big news is that I have created and launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel free to check it out at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

Transformation Continues as the Sun Enters Scorpio and a Full Moon in Taurus

.
The transformation train shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.  Pluto in Capricorn has been taking some heavy hits lately, especially with its recent square from the sun in Libra on October 12, 2018 and the Capricorn moon conjuncting it and squaring the Libra sun on October 16, 2018. That kind of energy screams transformation and evokes the intensity of Scorpio.  On October 12, 2018, I tweeted:

And on October 16, 2018, I tweeted:
But on October 23, 2018 the sun enters Scorpio, joining Mercury, retrograde Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio.  Mercury and Venus leave Scorpio on October 31, 2018 and Jupiter enters Sagittarius on November 8, 2018.  Venus will return to Scorpio on December 2, 2018.

As a Scorpio, I tend to love the transit of the sun in Scorpio because it is my birthday season and birthdays always tend to infuse us with a boost of energy. Scorpio is not a sign for lightweights, though. When the sun is in Scorpio, we tend to experience depth, intimacy and extremes of feeling.  We desire (a key word for Scorpio) getting to the bottom of matters and crave anything that is hidden, taboo or secret.  The vibe is passionate and intense.  Scorpio energy is strong-willed because it is fixed water but it can be incredibly healing and transformative.  But watch out for a tendency to be jealous, obsessive, vindictive and manipulative when the sun is in Scorpio (until November 22, 2018, which is Thanksgiving in the United States).  That is the dark, shadow side of Scorpio.

On the following day, October 24, 2018, we have a powerhouse full moon in 1 degree of Taurus.  This full moon is bound to affect relationships because it is ruled by Venus and the sun conjuncts retrograde Venus in Scorpio while the moon opposes it.  The real heavy hitter in this full moon is retrograde Uranus in 0 degrees of Taurus.  The full moon is conjunct Uranus while the sun and Venus in Scorpio oppose it.  This could also play out in feelings of isolation and detachment in our relationships.   A full moon conjunct Uranus tends to manifest in feelings of rebelliousness and very disruptive energy. Surprises and changes could definitely be coming in relationships, finances and values.  Impulsive reactions and sudden events are key themes with this full moon.

There is a tremendous amount of fixed energy present with this full moon in Taurus.  We have seven planets in fixed signs: the sun, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio, Mars in Aquarius and the moon and Uranus in Taurus. This creates a planetary configuration called a Fixed Grand Cross with all of these oppositions and squares. Stubbornness is a given but the fixed energy does give us the determination and tenacity to achieve our goals. It reinforces the T-square of Uranus in Taurus to the north node in Leo and the south node in Aquarius.  The full moon squares the south node in Aquarius, forcing us to move on from detachment and rebellion to the future of the north node in Leo, which entails finding what makes you proud.  And the nodes will be changing signs on November 7, 2018 into Cancer and Capricorn. So this really is our last shot at letting go of what no longer serves us before the first week in November when retrograde Uranus re-enters Aries, Jupiter enters Sagittarius and the north node enters Cancer while the south node enters Capricorn.

Retrograde Venus in Scorpio opposing retrograde Uranus in Taurus will trigger issues of control versus independence in relationships.  It could get messy and complicated.  Uranus in Taurus is known for its association with extreme weather and earth events. When Uranus entered Taurus in mid-May, a volcano erupted in Hawaii.  I hope that we don’t have any more catastrophes during this full moon, but it wouldn’t surprise me if something happened.   Uranus does re-enter Aries on November 6, 2018 (Election Day in the United States) until March 6, 2019, when it resumes its transit in Taurus until 2026.

I know that this full moon sounds like it is a tale of gloom and doom, but we do have some positive aspects going for us once we get past the Uranus factor.  I am definitely in the crossfire with my Mercury in 0 degrees of Scorpio taking a major hit.  But I have been undergoing the transit of Uranus opposing my natal Mercury for some time now.

The good news with this full moon is that Saturn in 4 degrees of Capricorn is forming a flowing, beneficial trine to the Taurus moon can help turn those unexpected changes that Uranus brings into unexpected opportunities and guide us into reassurance with all of this relationship uncertainty.  It is a mitigating factor for the upheaval that Uranus in Taurus delivers. And it can give us the patience and emotional strength to handle difficulties in our relationships.  For once, Saturn is not playing the bad guy by lending a note of stability to all of this upheaval.

Venus in Scorpio is forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in Capricorn, which gives Saturn more help in mitigating any damage caused by the impulsive and Uranus in Taurus.  That is nothing to laugh at either.  We also have Mercury and Jupiter conjunct in Scorpio which favors thinking big and fosters the ability to see the big picture and brighter horizons.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including this summer’s eclipses, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot and we only have another couple of weeks of Jupiter in Scorpio. Challenging Pluto Aspects Create a Scorpio Vibe and Chiron Retrograde in Pisces Provides Another Shot at Seeking Justice for Feelings of Victimization

I know that we just had a new moon in Libra on October 8, 2018, but many of us felt like we were experiencing a full moon.  On October 9, 2018 I tweeted:
When the moon forms a challenging square aspect to Pluto, we are dealing with some very serious, complex energy that evokes a real Scorpio vibe and issues of emotional wounding surface.  Issues of power struggles, obsession, control and manipulation run rampant.

On October 12, 2018 the sun in 18 degrees of Libra squares Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  Once again, power and control issues surface because this is intense and passionate energy.  And there are the accompanying themes of jealousy and obsession with a tough, edgy quality to boot. The sun represents who we are while Pluto represents what is hidden, secretive and buried.  But Pluto is also about transformation.  I have this aspect natally with my Scorpio sun squaring my Pluto in Leo.  Sun square Pluto has stubborn quality to begin with and having it in fixed signs doesn’t make it easier, I can tell you.  But it does have the potential to be very empowering if we make an effort to work with this energy.

The sun may be in Libra through October 22nd, but it’s feeling a lot like Scorpio these days. Mercury entered Scorpio on October 9th as well and on that day I also tweeted:

Mercury and Venus will be conjunct in 9 degrees of Scorpio on October 15, 2018 and this aspect should have a serious impact on relationships and finances as we are forced to dig deep. But it can have a very beneficial effect if we take the time to tell someone how much we love them.  This aspect also makes us open to receiving love and gifts.  This is definitely one of the more benign aspects involving retrograde Venus in Scorpio. Venus is retrograde until November 16, 2018 and is triggering the Venus Retrograde that occurred back in October 2010.  I don’t know about you, but I have been hearing from friends and clients that similar if not identical issues are cropping up from that period.  I am offering my Venus Retrograde special again, so why not do yourself a favor and get some insight into how this transit is affecting you.

We are also under the influence of retrograde Chiron in Pisces.  Chiron is retrograde in Pisces until December 9, 2018, when it stations direct in 27 degrees of Pisces.  Chiron returns to sign of Aries in February 2019.  Astrologer Michael Lutin astutely noted that Chiron retrograde in Pisces is bringing up complex issues that need to be courageously faced and resolved that involve themes of forgiveness/retribution, perpetrator/victim and innocence and guilt.  The bottom line with this transit is obtaining justice.

I was reflecting on how the Chiron retrograde transit is affecting my chart.  Initially I was pleased with the trines to my natal Venus in Scorpio and Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer, but then I realized that it was also forming some rather challenging, irritating inconjuncts to my natal Pluto in Leo and Neptune in Libra.

I have a natal Chiron/Pluto inconjunct, so this transit is triggering that aspect for me.  Chiron inconjunct Pluto has a tendency to create irritating and frustrating feelings that impel us to heal our wounds and transform our consciousness.  But if we don’t do the work on ourselves, we may wind up projecting our irritation, frustration, negativity on others.  There is a lot of nervous energy present but it can be a boon for healers and athletes. Chiron is currently transiting my 6th house and while my health has survived two cataract surgeries this year, I am feeling quite powerless over the health of a loved one.  So this transit is intensely personal for me.

Chiron in the late degrees of Pisces is also forming an inconjunct to my natal Neptune in Libra.  My natal Chiron in Capricorn squares my natal Neptune in Libra, and Chiron squaring Neptune (a very common generational aspect) feels a lot like Chiron in Pisces.  And Chiron in Pisces does have a way of triggering feelings of betrayal and abandonment.  Obviously I still have some work to do with Chiron in Pisces.  In many ways it feels like yet another Pluto transit because it is so challenging and confusing.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including this summer’s eclipses, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot and we only have another few weeks of Jupiter in Scorpio. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. I even offer the option of tarot readings. There is something for everyone.

Relationships Are Emphasized with a New Moon in Libra and Mercury Entering Scorpio

Big changes are on the horizon for relationships.  After several months of enduring months of planets retrograde, we caught a break on September 30, 2018 when Pluto stationed direct in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  On that day I tweeted:
This means that the only outer planets that are retrograde now are Uranus in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces.  Of course, Venus is stationing retrograde in 10 degrees of Scorpio on October 5, 2018 until November 16, 2018, which I covered in last week’s blog post.

But relationships are definitely set for some major changes this week.  On October 8, 2018, we have a new moon in 15 degrees of Libra.  We all know the theory about new moons being a perfect time to initiate changes, but when that new moon is squaring the newly direct Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn, transformation and change are inevitable.  We also have five planets in cardinal signs on the day of the new moon: the sun in Libra, the moon in Libra, Mercury in Libra, Saturn in Capricorn and Pluto in Capricorn.  The cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are literally the movers and shakers in the astrological universe.

The sun and moon in the relationship oriented sign of Libra squaring Pluto in Capricorn brings themes of intensity, power plays, control, manipulation and jealousy.  And to cap off that intensity, Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, the sign ruled by Pluto.  Venus in Scorpio is also squaring Mars in Aquarius and opposing Uranus in Taurus, which can emphasize the polarity between control and possessiveness vs. independence and freedom.

We are catching a couple more breaks astrologically with this new moon, however.  The Mars in Aquarius/Uranus in Taurus square which has been active since mid-May 2018 is finally separating.  Hopefully this will tame or at least reduce some of the extreme earth events (volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, etc.,) that have characterized Uranus in Taurus.  And Venus in Scorpio is sweetly trining Neptune in Pisces, which should provide a softer and more creative vibe as we can hope to attain more of an internal feeling of oneness, especially with both planets being retrograde.

Uranus in Taurus will be squaring the nodes of the moon in Leo (north node) and Aquarius (south node) through the rest of 2018, despite Uranus dipping back into Aries in November 2018.  The nodes will be moving into Cancer and Capricorn in early November but will face the same Uranus transit due to Uranus in Aries. The north node represents our collective destiny and with Uranus squaring it, we can expect some technological innovations.  But we must also be prepared for sudden shocks, surprises and strange political events.  If you have any planets in 0-3 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, you will feel this effect big time.  My natal Mercury is in 0 degrees of Scorpio, so I have also been experiencing an opposition transit.

Communication in relationships will get a lot more serious on October 9, 2018 when Mercury enters Scorpio until October 31, 2018.  Mercury in Scorpio will shine a light on the darkest parts of ourselves.  It brings more awareness of our fears and desires but also uncovers our inner skeptic and places more of an emphasis on negative thinking as we become more suspicious and obsessive. Communications will undoubtedly get a lot more probing and intense.  I can certainly attest to this truth with my natal Mercury in Scorpio.

The new moon in Libra and Mercury in Scorpio are also playing out against the backdrop of Venus retrograde in Scorpio.  Venus retrograde is a time to reflect on relationships and indulge in a little bit of self-love.  But I do caution against getting married or investing in major cosmetic surgery during Venus retrograde.  If the Venus retrograde is occurring in your 1st, 5th, 7th, or 11th house, you will experience some deep reflections and insights in your relationships, even if it is not romantic relationships.  Don’t forget that the 11th house pertains to friendships, and many people have been undergoing big changes in their friendships lately.

This Venus retrograde period, which starts at 10 degrees of Scorpio and ends at 25 degrees of Libra on November 16, 2018, is a repeat of the Venus Retrograde that occurred in October 2010.  You might find it helpful to reflect on what issues were prevalent in your life back then. I am also offering my Venus Retrograde Special again through mid-November 2018 for $25 if you are interested to see how it is impacting you.  Just email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to request it.
