A Supercharged New Moon in Capricorn and Aquarius Season is Here

 

We have yet another action-packed week ahead of us.  I am beginning to wonder if there will be any other kind in 2026.  On January 17, Venus enters Aquarius until February 10.  Aquarius is the fixed air sign known for being emotionally detached because it seeks freedom and unconventional ways to express love.  It is quite literally a cool customer and people who have a natal Venus in Aquarius aren't always interested in forever after.  When Venus is in Aquarius, love for friends becomes very important to us.  Community and intellectual endeavors are also quite appealing.

Also on January 17, the Sun in Capricorn is trining Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus.  This aspect makes us more open to change and making new friends.  Changes will flow more smoothly with a trine, so embrace the changes.

Mark your calendar for a busy day on January 18.  We have the first New Moon of 2026 in 28 degrees of Capricorn. There is an interesting pileup of planets in both signs of Capricorn and Aquarius.  The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars are in Capricorn while Venus has just entered Aquarius and Pluto is also in Aquarius.  They are close enough to be conjunct, creating a stellium, with strong Capricorn themes of planning, the past and structures meeting up with the Aquarius planets that represent the future.  Of course it is always a good idea to set new intentions on a New Moon, but Capricorn is the sign that excels at planning for the future, so don't waste this opportunity.  This is really the best time to set those New Year's intentions because the stellium of planets in Capricorn and Aquarius signifies a bridge between the past and the future we wish to create.

The New Moon in 28 degrees of Capricorn is forming a delightful trine to Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus, helping us to sow those seeds of change but it could also create some financial volatility.  The New Moon is also forming supportive sextiles to Saturn in 27 degrees of Pisces and Neptune in 29 degrees, which definitely facilitates us in helping us to make our dreams a reality and manifest in a structured way.  For me personally, the New Moon falls in my 4th house and opposes Jupiter and Uranus in Cancer in my 10th house while squaring my Neptune in Libra in my 1st house.  This will be a momentous New Moon for me with that lineup.

Mercury and Mars are conjunct in Capricorn on the New Moon, which might play out as more aggression and possible defensiveness.  Arguments are likely.  Try not to be too rude or abusive towards others with this energy.  I am just warning that there is a potential for hostility, irritation and anger with this aspect. Mercury in Capricorn is also forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in Pisces, which holds the promise of clear thinking, common sense, self-discipline and good judgment.

The Sun enters Aquarius on January 19 as the focus shifts to humanitarianism, social connection, groups, intellectualism and independence.  Innovation takes priority over convention, which marks a huge difference from the Sun in Capricorn.  Freedom is driving us now.  Venus and Pluto are also conjunct in Aquarius on that day too, which will supply us with more power to attract friends and lovers.  There could be some changes in money too.

On January 20, Mars in Capricorn will be trining Uranus in 27 degrees of Taurus.  We will feel the urge to break free of restrictions and take risks.  Feel free to start new projects.  Mars in Capricorn is also forming a supportive sextile to Saturn in 27 degrees of Taurus on that day, which is a boon for making progress on a long-term project. 

Mercury moves into Aquarius on January 20 until February 6, 2026.  Our thinking and communication become more futuristic, innovative and humanitarian.  We are more inclined to embrace technology and engage with groups.  Mercury is also conjunct Pluto in Aquarius on January 22, which adds more depth and intensity to our thinking and communication.  We find it easier to get to the bottom of things. Secrets could be revealed as hard truths could come to light. There is also a risk of coming on too forceful, so be mindful that this is yet another powerhouse day.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Mars Retrograde, Venus Enters Aquarius and Neptune Goes Direct in Pisces

 

We have yet another week of heavy astrological action ahead of us.  On December 6, Mars stations retrograde in 6 degrees of Leo.  Mars is retrograde approximately every two years, and we can expect delays in our progress towards our goals and desires when it occurs.  Mars retrograde can also deplete our physical energy. The last time that Mars was retrograde occurred from October 30, 2022 through January 12, 2023 and it was in Gemini the whole time. I remember that period well because I contracted COVID for the second time on October 31, 2022.

This Mars retrograde will be a bit more complicated because it starts out in Leo, but moves back into Cancer on January 6, 2025 before it stations direct in 17 degrees of Cancer on February 22, 2025.  It doesn't help matters that we are undergoing a Mercury retrograde at the same time. When Mars is retrograde, we need to review and reassess our relationship with aggression and drive.  Frustration abounds as we are confronted with all of those things that have been aggravating us recently.  Like it or not, we need to surrender to the moment and accept that progress is not going to happen on our timetable.  Mars is more comfortable in the fixed fire sign of Leo, but it will be opposing Pluto in 1 degree of Aquarius on January 3, 2025, which can set the stage for some ego clashes, power struggles and obstacles.  Mars will be in Cancer from January 6, 2025 through April 18, 2025.  Mars was previously in Cancer from September 4, 2024 through November 3, 2024, so don't be surprised if issues from that period resurface.  Simmering emotional resentments are common when Mars is in Cancer, as is passive-aggressive behavior.  Mars is not a happy camper in the cardinal water sign of Cancer and could be described as a whiny warrior.  Family issues could set us off while Mars is retrograde in Cancer, so try to use this transit constructively to set healthier boundaries with relatives.  And it goes without saying that anyone with Aries rising or Sun will feel the brunt of this Mars retrograde because Mars rules Aries.  The same can be said for Scorpio rising and Sun too because Mars was considered the ruler of Scorpio until Pluto was discovered in 1930.  Mars is still very closely associated with the sign of Scorpio.

On December 7, we have two more major astrological events.  Venus enters Aquarius at 1:13 a.m. and Neptune stations direct in 27 degrees of Pisces at 6:43 p.m.  When Venus is in Aquarius, we are drawn to more unconventional relationships and crave freedom of expression.  Friends can become lovers and there is an air of emotional detachment present.  Venus will also be conjuncting Pluto in Aquarius on the 7th, so don't be surprised if the urge for an intense conjunction is stronger, but be mindful not to be too possessive, jealous or obsessive.  Then Venus in Aquarius will be opposing Mars in 6 degrees of Leo on December 12, which can increase the level of sexual tension and physical desires.  If you don't have a sexual partner, try to release the tension through exercise or creative endeavors.  Venus will be in Aquarius until January 2, 2025.

Neptune has been retrograde in Pisces since July 2, 2024 and when it stations direct it is time to allow compassion and selflessness out into the world.  But there could be even more confusion and a desire for escapism. That is the way Neptune in Pisces rolls.  Whenever a planet stations, either direct or retrograde, its power is magnified.  And since Neptune has such a nebulous quality, you never know if it will manifest as confusion or the higher levels of spirituality.  It should be interesting...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! Venus Enters Aquarius and the Sun Sails into Pisces

 

The times they are a changing and there is ample evidence of that this week when Venus joins the Aquarius party on February 16.  We already have the Sun, Mars, Mercury and Pluto there, so now we can expect even more change and a need for freedom in our lives.  Venus in Aquarius has a more unconventional expression of love and craves experimentation.  Venus will remain in Aquarius until March 11 and we can expect to be desiring more space in our relationships as well as a need for fairness.  The lines between friendship and love can also become a bit blurred when Venus is in Aquarius.  Venus in Aquarius is more cerebral and detached; it is not exactly known for being warm and fuzzy but that can be a good thing if we need to talk things out rationally in relationships.  When Venus is transiting the sign of Aquarius we  might also find that our friendships become more important to us.  Venus will be conjunct Pluto in Aquarius on February 17 and this can add more layers of intensity and passion to relationships.  It can also motivate us to be more honest and get to the root of any issues that have been bothering us.  Spoiler alert, it can also bring up issues of control, power, jealousy and obsession on this day.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that on February 16 we have another blast of Aquarius energy when Mercury in Aquarius squares Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, so this is indeed a heavy hit as it doubly emphasizes the Aquarian and Uranian vibes. Mercury squaring Uranus can produce nervous energy and anxiety.  It also has a very unpredictable quality and there is a strong likelihood that things might not go as planned.  There is also a sense of brilliant thinking present as new information could emerge as well as different approaches to situations. I have a natal Mercury-Uranus square and I can tell you first-hand that it indicates an original thinker that doesn't follow the pack.  It could be an exciting day in terms of the news. Changes can occur in our routines and there is the potential for misunderstandings in communication.  Since Mercury also rules transportation, please be careful driving on this day too.

On February 18, the Sun enters the mutable water sign of Pisces.  So one planet is leaving the Aquarius party.  I must confess that I tend to love it when the Sun is in Pisces, probably because I am a Scorpio and at least the Sun is literally in my element now. It is in a fun part of my chart-my 5th house.  When the Sun is in Pisces, our focus shifts towards more compassion and empathy for others as altruism rules. We are inclined to follow our dreams and be more creative.  Just be mindful that there is a shadow side of the Sun in Pisces: don't get caught up in self-pity and martyrdom or victimization.  Addiction could rear its ugly head too and there might be a tendency towards escapism when the Sun is in Pisces. Channel that need for escapism constructively by going to the theatre, a museum or a movie.  You get the idea; you don't have to go down the rabbit hole.

On February 22, Venus in Aquarius meets up with Mars in 6 degrees of Aquarius.  This can be a very romantic time as passion and intimacy are amped up a notch.  If your Valentine's Day was a bit lackluster, this could be your chance to make up for it.  It represents an opportunity to meet new friends as well and to be creative.  So please make the most of this day and get out there if possible.

Venus is Calling the Shots as it Gets Busy with Pluto and Moves into Aquarius

 

Venus is really calling the shots in terms of launching the year 2023.  Right out of the gate on January 1 (Happy New Year) Venus and Pluto hook up in 27 degrees of Capricorn.  When Venus and Pluto meet up in this fashion, we can definitely expect more emotional intensity as our needs for love and affection become stronger.  We are craving more depth in our relationships.  This aspect also gives us more power to attract partners. For me, this conjunction falls in my 4th house conjuncting my natal Chiron in Capricorn and opposes my Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house while squaring my natal Neptune in Libra in my 1st house.  I suppose I should be grateful that it also forms supportive sextiles to my Venus and Ceres in Scorpio.  This should be interesting...

On January 2, Venus moves into the fixed air sign of Aquarius, where it resides until January 26.  Venus in Aquarius.  Venus in Aquarius is attracted to more freedom, independence and unconventionality in relationships.  It is a very different animal than Venus in Capricorn.  We tend to approach relationships and our values in a more detached perspective.  It is also a time when we can meet new lovers through friends or friends can become lovers.  On the same day, the Sun in Capricorn is exactly squaring Chiron in 11 degrees of Aries.  This can uncover fears and wounds regarding our ego and life path.  Insecurities are bound to crop up and we might find ourselves attracting teachers who can help us uncover our power and heal those wounds. So don't fret over the challenge that this aspect poses because it can lead us to a really positive and healthy place.

Venus in Aquarius is forming a supportive sextile with that other benefic planet Jupiter in 1 degree of Aries on January 4, 2023.  This is a real party time vibe, which inspires feelings of good luck, generosity and a desire to schmooze and socialize.  It has a very relaxing feeling and it is a perfect time to take a vacation if you can manage it.

The Sun in Capricorn is exactly trining Uranus in 15 degrees of Taurus on January 5, which reinforces the theme of anything can happen out of the blue, but the trine aspect makes it more likely that it will be pleasant surprises in store for us.  On January 6, we have the first Full Moon of 2023 in Cancer, which I will cover in next week's post.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. I no longer have my Brookline office, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. A Blend of Lucky Piscean Energy While Mars and Venus Enter Aquarius

 

Well, we are just coming off the New Moon in Pisces from March 2, 2022.  It was a complicated day and back then I tweeted:

Today’s #NewMoon in Pisces is conjunct Jupiter in Pisces which amplifies optimism as it forms a supportive sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Change is definitely coming but we still might not know how. #astrology

If you weren't feeling blessed on the New Moon, hold on for March 5 when the Sun and Jupiter conjoin in 14 degrees of Pisces.  This could turn out to be one of the luckiest days of the year.  When the Sun and Jupiter are conjunct, we can expect optimism to abound, good luck to appear and a general sense of well-being and happiness.  Other themes with this aspect include growth, spiritual connections and creative expansion.  It will definitely be a day to dream big and work on creating a miracle.  I am stoked because this aspect falls in my 5th house and trines my Sun and Saturn in Scorpio while also trining my Cancer Midheaven. Of course, we all know that Jupiter loves to do things in a big way, so watch out for boastfulness, extravagance and greed.  That is the shadow side of a Sun-Jupiter conjunction, but I personally think that we can handle it.

On the following day, March 6, both Mars and Venus depart the sign of Capricorn and enter the fixed air sign of Aquarius.  Mars and Venus have been dancing together for quite awhile and they aren't done yet.  This is because of the recent Venus retrograde in December 2021 and through most of January 2022.  Mars enters Aquarius at 1:23 am on the 6th and Venus moves into Aquarius at 1:30 am.  Mars will be in Aquarius until April 14 and Venus will be in Aquarius until April 5.  

I have a vested interest in this because I have a natal Mars in Aquarius.  When Mars is in Aquarius, we are motivated to stand up for our rights and fight for change, using our minds as weapons.  Mars in Aquarius loves fresh ideas and original plans for the future.  It is a real rebel vibe with radical energy levels.  Mars in Aquarius will also be a driving force for humanitarian actions, which are sorely needed now.

Venus in Aquarius is a time when friends could easily become lovers and it is possible to meet someone new through friends.  It is a more detached vibe and it places an unconventional spin on romance.  Honesty and friendship become extremely important in relationships.  High-tech gadgets can also be calling out to us to spend money on them.  It's okay to pursue your own passions now as they could very well generate more money for us.  Yes, Venus is also associated with money as well as love.

Mars and Venus will be conjunct in 0 degrees of Aquarius on March 6.  They were conjunct on the Full Moon of February 16 in 16 degrees of Capricorn.  But Mars and Venus conjunct in Aquarius is a whole different ball game.  Relationships will become more experimental and creative.  We will feel freer to take a break from obsession and rethink old relationship patterns. This conjunction is also triggering the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in 0 degrees of Aquarius that occurred on December 21, 2020.  Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions have a tendency to usher in new cycles.  No one can deny that since the pandemic began in 2020, we are in uncharted territory and a new age is upon us.

The Piscean energy continues on March 9 when Mercury enters Pisces, where it stays until March 27.  Yes, Mercury tends to move pretty fast when it isn't retrograde and March is one month when all of the planets are direct, so make the most of it. Mercury traveling through Pisces has a magical vibe and is great for artists and creative types.  Our thinking is more visual, intuitive and imaginative.  We are more attuned to our emotions but we are not too concise.  Try to embrace the concept of surrender, a key Pisces theme and by all means keep a dream journal because our dreams will probably be sending us a lot of important messages now.
