September Ushers in a Period of Progress as Mercury Enters Virgo and Saturn Stations Direct

Prepare to get unstuck in the month of September.  I know that many people, myself included, have felt the palpable frustration of feeling stuck this summer.  A huge reason for this malaise was the retrograde party that was in effect during the summer.  Mars retrograde certainly didn’t help matters, either.  But Mars stationed direct on August 27, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:
August has been a really difficult month with Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Pluto, Uranus, Neptune and Chiron retrograde, a powerful solar eclipse in Leo on August 11th and an emotionally charged full moon in Pisces on August 26th.  And then were the deaths of Aretha Franklin, John McCain and Neil Simon.  It has been a real clearing process.  August is always a difficult month for me personally because it marks the deaths of my mother and brother, but this year death seemed to be a major theme.  But I keep reminding myself that rebirth follows death and I think that is something we all need to remember. Personally, I will be thrilled when the month of August is over.  Enough already, I say.

Mars stationed direct in 28 degrees of Capricorn on August 27, 2018.  It will remain in the sign of Capricorn until September 10, 2018 when it re-enters Aquarius.  While Mars is still in Capricorn, I urge everyone to take responsibility for launching your goals.  Mars in Capricorn imbues us with a sense of needing to take things seriously and Capricorn is definitely renowned for its responsible nature.

Communications start to improve on September 5, 2018 when Mercury enters its home sign of Virgo where it remains until September 21, 2018.  Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, so it is very comfortable there.  The transit of Mercury in Virgo will add a precision to our speech, thought and process.  Our minds will be as sharp as a tack as we find ourselves to communicate more efficiently, focus on details more easily and make practical decisions.  This can be a very productive time so make the most of it.  The only downside of Mercury in Virgo is a tendency to be too critical.  If we are mindful of that, we will reap the benefits of the Mercury in Virgo transit.

On the following day, September 6, 2018, Saturn will station direct in 2 degrees of Capricorn.  Saturn has been retrograde since April 17, 2018, so this will definitely be a welcome change. Saturn inherently likes to test our patience and discipline, but when it is retrograde, that energy is internalized and the testing process feels even more frustrating.  And having Saturn and Mars retrograde was truly a karmic testing period when progress seemed totally elusive and frustration and delays were a way of life.

Saturn in direct motion will provide us with the energy to move forward in a more organized and focused manner. We can start to take actions that will affect our destiny.  It is literally like a karmic weight has been lifted and we feel free to get on with making the changes that will positively impact our future.  If we have done the work of reviewing our goals and doing our due diligence, we face a time of reaping the rewards that we have so justly earned during this trying summer of retrogrades.  And on September 30, 2018, Pluto will station direct in 18 degrees of Capricorn.

So the good news about September 2018 is that we get a chance to make some headway and progress in our lives after months of feeling tied down.  As a tarot reader, I feel that the past few months have been symbolized by the Eight of Swords tarot card.

I am choosing to believe that September 2018 will usher in a period of mastery and change, which I think is best represented by the Magician card.

Here’s to putting the wisdom that we have attained in the past few months to constructive use as we cross the threshold of change.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including this summer’s eclipses, Pluto in Capricorn retrograde, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. I even offer the option of tarot readings. There is something for everyone.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.

Recently I undertook an intensive life purpose coaching training program and became certified as a Life Purpose Coach.  It was an intense, eye-opening experience that changed my life as it caused me to reflect on the story of my life.  But I left it with feelings of hope and light for the future that I want to share with others.  To that end, I am now offering Life Purpose Coaching to my menu of services.  You can read more about it at:
As an astrologer, I have decided to include an interpretation of the north node by sign. If you are feeling stuck and need some help in getting from Point A to Point B in your quest for making positive changes in your life, please email me at lindasim54@gmail.com to schedule a complementary telephone consultation to discover if you are a good fit for this program.  I look forward to hearing from you.

For my clients who can’t fit Friday into their schedule for a treatment or have difficulty traveling, I have also recently begun doing distance Reiki sessions for them.  I have a conversation with them about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages.  I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205.  I am also offering Reiki treatments in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline on Sunday afternoons.

A Spiritually Healing Full Moon in Pisces and Mars Direct

We have a full moon in 3 degrees of Pisces coming up on August 26, 2018 but this may turn out to have plenty of opportunity for spiritual healing and not manifest as the usually dreaded full moon.  For starters, it’s not a lunar eclipse like last month.  A full moon in a water sign is bound to be emotional, especially when it occurs in Pisces, probably the most sensitive of the water signs, but this contains a strong theme of spiritual healing if we tap into its energy.  The highest level of a Pisces moon entails themes of compassion, kindness and a very mystical quality.  Don’t forget that we are still under the benevolent influence of that Jupiter in Scorpio/Neptune in Pisces trine that was exact on August 19, 2018.  This aspect encourages us to dream big and gives us a mystical connection to our source of inspiration.  It is indeed a time to expect miracles and manifest our dreams.

A Pisces moon can bring confusion, feeling like one is in a fog, overwhelmed or victimized.  Just don’t get caught up in the victim role and watch out for those addictions. Feelings will come to a head during this time as emotions are always heightened during a full moon in a water sign.  But it can shine a light on what you need to know.  I think that this is especially true in my case because this full moon in Pisces will trine my Mercury in Scorpio.  That phrase “more will be revealed” is definitely relevant for me personally.

One potential sticky aspect with this full moon is the fact that Venus in Libra is squaring Pluto in Capricorn.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square and I am fully aware of the fact that this aspect has the potential to bring intense feelings in relationships with issues of power and control emerging.  It has a fated quality about it and it could even bring a new relationship into your life.  If you have any planets in 18 or 19 degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn you will definitely feel this aspect.  Once again, I am in the astrological crosshairs of this aspect with my midheaven in 19 degrees of Cancer.
Another challenging aspect that occurs on the full moon is Mercury in 15 degrees of Leo inconjunct Neptune in 15 degrees of Pisces.  The major theme of inconjuncts is the need to make adjustments and in this case we may need adjust the need to communicate and make an impact with our words while surrendering our expectations for a specific outcome.  It is requiring us to trust in the process, surrender and have faith.  All of this is easier said than done, but it is a very Piscean theme.

A really important thing to remember with this full moon is that while the moon is in the sensitive sign of Pisces, the sun is in the practical earth sign of Virgo.  Virgo is very detail-oriented and efficient.  A full moon in Pisces calls for us to find a balance between practicalities and our connection to a Higher Power.  Astrologer Pam Gregory described it as “Divinity in the Detail” and I couldn’t agree more.

There is actually a Grand Earth Trine that occurs on August 25, 2018 involving the sun in 2 degrees of Virgo, Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus and Saturn in 3 degrees of Capricorn.  This is a very stabilizing influence for new and inspired forms to support our healing and growth.  With Saturn and Uranus working harmoniously together, we can experience innovation and new ideas for the earth.  It is also very grounding energy for reaching out to attain our bigger dreams and let’s not forget that this full moon can be an opportunity to manifest our dreams.

The earth energy has been building and supporting us all week. On August 21, 2018 the moon in Capricorn trined Uranus in Taurus and conjuncted Saturn in Capricorn, inspiring me to tweet:
But I am saving the best for last because the icing on the cake occurs on August 27, 2018 at 10:05 a.m. on the east coast when Mars stations direct in 28 degrees of Capricorn.  For those of you living under a rock, Mars has been retrograde since June 26, 2018 and Mars Retrograde has been the bane of many people’s existence all summer.  We always have several planets retrograde in the summer, including Mercury, but between Mars Retrograde and three instead of two eclipses, it has been a tough summer. Most people that I know, both friends and clients, have described it as feeling just plain stuck.

Now that Mars is going to station direct, we will all have more energy to move forward.  Of course, it’s important to remember that when a planet is stationary, its energy is magnified.  Mars is also about heat and fire and there is no denying the fact that this summer has seen more than its fair share of excessive heat and fires.

It may take a few days for us to reap the full benefits of Mars direct, but I feel confident that by early September we will feel more energetic and confident to move forward.  Mercury will have cleared its retrograde shadow by September 2nd, and Mars will move back into Aquarius on September 10, 2018.  Full steam ahead in terms of making progress on those goals we have spent the summer reviewing and revising.  Transiting Mars in Aquarius will actually be conjuncting my natal Mars in Aquarius in mid-October 2018, so I will definitely be feeling a surge of energy as I experience my Mars Return.

If you are curious as to how all of the planetary changes, including this summer’s eclipses, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn retrograde, Mars retrograde in Aquarius, Jupiter in Scorpio, Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus will be affecting you in 2018, please consider getting an astrological reading.  A transit reading might be just what you need right now to make the most of Jupiter in Scorpio.  Jupiter transits are all about taking advantage of opportunities and if you snooze you lose with Jupiter.  You have to be aware and strike while the iron is hot. Post Eclipse Season Brings Blessings as Jupiter Trines Neptune and Mercury Stations Direct

Well, the summer eclipses are finally over and the dust is clearing so to speak astrologically. Many people, myself included, are feeling as if the last solar eclipse in Leo on August 11th helped to release some heavy burdens. I made full use of the solar eclipse energy by engaging in some meditation and setting some new intentions.  But there is still a strong theme present of letting go.  In fact, upon reflection of the summer so far, and from what I have been hearing from friends and clients, this has indeed been a summer steeped in reflection on the past as old repressed emotions have come up for review and release.  The moon moved into Libra on August 14th but it posed some challenging emotional aspects, including a square to Pluto on August 15, 2018.  On that day I tweeted:
We are in the midst of an incredible healing journey which is by no means complete.  But there is some light at the end of the tunnel with two very favorable astrological placements this weekend.  The first one involves Jupiter in Scorpio trining Neptune in Pisces in 15 degrees of their respective signs on August 19, 2018.  This is the third Jupiter/Neptune trine since December 2017.  The first one occurred on December 2, 2017 in 11 degrees of both signs and the last one happened on May 25, 2018 in 16 degrees of Scorpio and Pisces.

Jupiter trining Neptune is an aspect that is amazingly spiritual and harmonious that contains a strong theme of forgiveness.  Although this aspect has been exact on only three dates in the past few months, it has been a predominant influence for the past nine months.  Nine months is also the time period for a human pregnancy, so it has the potential for rebirth.  This aspect, especially in super sensitive water signs, dissolves boundaries and limitations.  It places an emphasis on faith over realism.  Under the influence of this aspect, we tend to seek meaning beyond the material world.  It has a very idealistic vibe and can also indicate a spiritual teacher coming into your life.  It favors creativity, daydreaming and romance but it also has a lazy quality that can make it difficult to accomplish anything.  And it could be detrimental for those with addiction issues.

Personally, I have not experienced the lazy side of it because Jupiter in Scorpio has been conjuncting my Saturn in Scorpio in my 1st house and will move back into my 2nd house on August 18, 2018.  Then I can eagerly anticipate transiting Jupiter conjuncting my Sun and Venus in Scorpio in September and October.  I’m confident that it will be a lot more pleasant than Jupiter on my Saturn and that I can see more progress in my life. Neptune is still in my 5th house, which has been a perk in the creativity department.

The next ray of light at the end of this tunnel actually occurs about three hours before the Jupiter/Neptune trine on August 19, 2018 at 12:25 a.m. on the east coast of the United States.  Drum roll, please- Mercury stations direct in 11 degrees of Leo.  Ta-da!  Mercury has been retrograde since July 26, 2018 when it stationed retrograde in 23 degrees of Leo.  I’m sure that there will be a collective sigh of relief when Mercury stations direct.  Mercury retrograde started in my 11th house and then entered my 10th house on August 5th.  I had a pretty typically frustrating Mercury retrograde experience in the 11th house in terms of missed connections with friends and goals feeling stuck and as far as my 10th house, I sense that Mercury retrograde has been the culprit for last minute cancellations in my business.  But Mercury stationing direct on August 19th and finally clearing its shadow on September 2, 2018 will give us all a green light to proceed forward with our plans.

If you have been feeling more tired than usual lately, blame it on the Mars Retrograde.  For the first time in my life, I have been finding it necessary to take naps.  My mother used to say that she could never get me to take naps as a child and I always wanted to go to bed late.  Quite a few people on Twitter were commenting about the fatigue factor this week and I chimed in myself on August 15, 2018:
But fear not, Mars will be stationing direct in 28 degrees of Capricorn on August 27, 2018, one day after the full moon in Pisces on August 26, 2018.  More on that in my next post.  In the meantime, just listen to your body and take a nap if you need to.  Sleep is part of the healing process.

A Solar Eclipse in Leo Caps Off Eclipse Season

The final eclipse of 2018 may be a partial solar eclipse, unlike the total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, which was also known as the Great American Eclipse, but it will by no means be inconsequential because it also a Supermoon. It will occur on August 11, 2018 in 18 degrees of Leo at 5:58 a.m.

Leo is the sign that rules the heart and love. This eclipse will feature themes of love, creative self-actualization and making choices from our heart.  It will be a time to explore the path of your heart’s desires. There is a new state of awareness coming and it is futile to resist it.  This eclipse is also a repeat of a solar eclipse that occurred on August 11, 1999 in 18 degrees of Leo.  If you are old enough to remember it, I encourage you to reflect on your soul’s growth in the past 19 years because there could definitely be some themes repeated or even closure of a cycle in your life.  I can tell you that this eclipse will bring sudden, radical shifts as it can result in a collapse of existing structures and the rebuilding will have far reaching effects.  And the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will feel it the most.

The astrological panorama for this solar eclipse is intense, to say the least.  For starters, it features seven (7) retrograde planets: Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Pluto and Uranus, which stationed retrograde on August 7, 2018, inspiring me to tweet:
Eclipses are always considered to be wild card energy, but this one is particularly Uranian because it occurs only four days after Uranus stationed retrograde.  Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus is also squaring the north node in 5 degrees of Leo and the south node in 5 degrees of Aquarius.  The bottom line with Uranus squaring the nodal axis on the day of a solar eclipse of this magnitude is that it will have a major impact on our collective future destiny.  Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus is also trining Saturn in 3 degrees of Capricorn.  While trines are usually considered to be favorable aspects, the diametrically opposed natures of these two planets are not exactly compatible. They are literally a clash of viewpoints. Uranus craves freedom and Saturn is all about preserving the status quo.  This can play out in a real stop and go type of vibe in which it feels difficult to make any progress.  But the saving grace of this aspect is that if we exercise patience and diligence (Saturn) we can achieve the change we desire (Uranus).

The solar eclipse in 18 degrees of Leo also squares Jupiter in 14 degrees of Scorpio.  Since Jupiter loves to amplify anything it touches, count on it to magnify our feelings and we may be prone to overreacting, especially with the sun and moon in Leo, a sign that loves drama.

We do have one especially nice aspect featured in this solar eclipse: the ongoing trine of Jupiter in Scorpio to Neptune in Pisces.  This is a marvelous aspect for instilling compassion and faith.  Meditation, reflection and soul searching are favored with this aspect.

There is an extremely fated quality about this eclipse because it features a yod involving Pluto in 19 degrees of Capricorn and Neptune in 15 degrees of Pisces.  Pluto and Neptune are forming a supportive sextile with each other but both are forming an irritating inconjunct with the sun and moon in Leo. Pluto’s role in this eclipse contains themes of transformation and loss while recognizing our fears and adjusting our behavior to adapt to the ever changing and challenging circumstances that we face.  And there will be issues of authority with Pluto involved.  We will have lessons to learn regarding personal will and power in terms of letting go of our ego as learn to rule with Neptune’s compassion while utilizing Pluto’s insight to incorporate our spiritual values into our use of personal power.  There is a very mystical feeling with this yod.  It is also a fabulous opportunity to change our emotional patterns to support the changes and move forward.

Don’t forget to set a new intention on the day of the solar eclipse because it is literally a new moon, even if I tend to refer to solar eclipses as new moons on steroids.  And the same holds true for lunar eclipses; they are like full moons on steroids.  Take a look at what house this eclipse falls in your chart and set a new intention through prayer, meditation, affirmations or whatever ritual you feel comfortable with.  This eclipse falls in my 11th house, so I should be setting new intentions for my goals and social networks.   It is also squaring my natal sun and Venus in Scorpio and opposing my natal Mars in Aquarius.  So I am not kidding when I say that this solar eclipse will affect fixed signs.

Venus Enters Libra and Uranus Retrogrades

This is an uncomfortable, difficult and challenging time for many people these days.  Last week we saw Mercury station retrograde and a powerful lunar eclipse in Aquarius on July 27, 2018. And this is also the time between eclipses, which is always awkward and tense.  The next and final eclipse of 2018 will occur on August 11, 2018 in 18 degrees of Leo.  I think that the general consensus is that most people or at least empaths, feel that the week between eclipses is like waiting for the other shoe to drop in terms of trying to be prepared for whatever unexpected events the universe hurls at us.  On some level, we know that deep change is coming but there is a natural fear of the unknown accompanied by anxiety.  Intellectually we realize that change needs to happen but emotionally we fear it.  Both personally and collectively, I sense that this summer has been all about reflecting on the past, purging and releasing what no longer serves us.  The fifth and final eclipse of 2018 (and it is indeed rare to have five instead of four eclipses in one year) will hopefully serve as a catalyst to closing the door on the past and propelling us on a new path.

Mars retrograde has been a heavy hitter ever since it stationed retrograde on June 26, 2018.  It was very active in the lunar eclipse of July 27th and on August 1, 2018, it formed the second of three exact squares with Uranus in Taurus, inspiring me to tweet:
But we have a couple more major astrological events coming up before the next eclipse, which I promise to cover in more detail in next week’s post.  On August 6, 2018, Venus enters its ruling sign of Libra (actually Venus rules both Taurus and Libra) where it will be eminently more comfortable and right at home.  Venus thrives in the sign of Libra due to its natural affinity for beauty, luxury and pleasure.  Venus in Libra craves harmony, is open to compromise and is renowned for seeking balance.  Venus is not just about love and relationships, it also pertains to money and values.  So charm, diplomacy and tact will be key features of this Venus in Libra transit.  But the flip side of the Venus in Libra transit is the tendency to engage in indecisiveness, dependency and superficiality.

Venus begins its transit of Libra in my 12th house and enters my first house on August 24, 2018.  After conjuncting my ascendant, it will also conjunct my Juno and Neptune in Libra, which should be pretty sweet transits.  But Venus leaves Libra on September 9, 2018, so make the most of this Venus in Libra transit.  Venus will enter Scorpio on that day, but will station retrograde in 10 degrees of Scorpio on October 5, 2018 and will remain in Scorpio until January 8, 2019.

Uranus in Taurus has been slowing down and will station retrograde in 2 degrees of Taurus on August 7, 2018.  It will slip back into the sign of Aries on November 7, 2018 and will end its retrograde in 28 degrees of Aries on January 6, 2019.  Uranus will re-enter Taurus on March 8, 2019 for the next seven years.

Uranus retrograde is found of 40% of all charts, so it is not as uncommon as Mars retrograde, which occurs every two years.  When Uranus is retrograde it is more difficult to restrain the erratic and impulsive urges of Uranus.  Uranus retrograde also has the tendency to internalize the disruptive nature of Uranus, which can result in nervous anxiety, rapid personality changes or just plain neurotic behavior.  It represents a time of inner change in response to external changes in life and it helps us process things internally before we manifest the external changes that will allow us more freedom (which is what Uranus craves, after all) when Uranus stations direct.

Uranus retrograde is a good time to go within to seek patterns that need to be released.  This seems to be a recurring astrological theme this year.  But it is very complicated with the ongoing Mars/Uranus square, which will be exact for the third and final hit on September 18, 2018 in 1 degree of Mars in Aquarius and 1 degree of Uranus in Taurus.  Mars squaring Uranus is indeed a test of patience and many of us may find ourselves needing a creative outlet for all of that frustrating energy.  This aspect tends to trigger our anger and frustration, ramping up our impatience. Uranus in Taurus rules nature, so I am not surprised to hear the news about fires, earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural disasters occurring.  Uranus in Taurus is literally shaking up our planet.

I am one of those 40% who have Uranus retrograde natally in my chart and usually its retrograde period doesn’t bother me too much because I am fairly comfortable with it due to my own retrograde Uranus.   But this year I am a little more concerned about the effects of its transit.  When Uranus re-enters Aries in November, it will form some pretty challenging aspects to my natal chart.  It will square my Jupiter and retrograde Uranus in Cancer in my 10th house and will oppose my Neptune in Libra in my 1st house.  This time around it will be getting really personal and could have some far-reaching implications for major changes in my life.

The Services Offered page of my site describes the menu of services that I offer. There is something for everyone.

My site also offers the opportunity to provide a donation in the amount of your choice to demonstrate your support for my blog and daily astrological insights on Twitter at:

A contribution in any amount is deeply appreciated as gratitude is a daily part of my spiritual practice.

I am also offering my Mars Retrograde Special reading which is another tool for dealing with the frustrations of the Mars retrograde transit, which began on June 26, 2018.

If you are in the Boston area, please consider getting a Reiki treatment at Acupuncture for Everyone in Copley Square to destress, revitalize and remove blockages to healing.  It’s a perfect way to start your weekend off and can also be described as a spa for the soul to boot!   Reiki is the most profound treatment for stress relief because it concentrates on CALMING your body.

For more information on my Reiki services, please see this page on my site:

But the big news is that I have created and launched a new website devoted exclusively to my Reiki practice. Please feel free to check it out at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I have also revised my package deals and I am now offering two options for package deals: Silver and a Tarot special for my tarot clients. Please check it out at:
