Saturn Re-enters Pisces and Mercury Moves into Virgo as We Prepare for Eclipse Season

 

In case you have been living under a rock, we are entering the portals of eclipse season. Spoiler alert- big changes are coming! But I always tell my clients that the effects of Solar Eclipses can be felt for up to three months before and after they occur, while Lunar Eclipses are most potent six weeks before and after they occur. So many of us are in the thick of it now and feeling it big time. The month of September features a Lunar Eclipse in 15 degrees of Pisces on September 7 and we have a Solar Eclipse in 29 degrees of Virgo (our second New Moon in Virgo this year) on September 21.

The month of September will be launched with Saturn backtracking into Pisces until February 13, 2026.  I know, Saturn was previously in Pisces from August 1, 2023 through May 24, 2025.  Saturn has been retrograde in Aries (it only made it to one degree) since July 13 of this year.  It will station direct in 25 degrees of Pisces on November 27, 2025.  Saturn is not particularly comfortable in Pisces because Saturn is all about form and structure, while Pisces is more about spiritual awakening, reality checks, karmic cleansing and a test of compassion. Saturn in Pisces challenges us to make our dreams a reality, which is no short order.  It's literally a meeting of form and formlessness. When Saturn is in Pisces we can also experience health issues with our feel and be prone to auto-immune diseases.  

All I can say that is whatever we didn't finish up between August 2023 and May 2025 is calling out for one last do-over.  It's time to tackle that unfinished business before Saturn moves back into Aries on February 13, 2026 and remains there until April 12, 2028.  Saturn is not particularly patient in Aries, so the future should be interesting...

When Saturn stations retrograde in 29 degrees of Pisces on September 1, it will be in my 6th house of work and health while exactly trining my Jupiter in 29 degrees of Cancer in my 10th house of career and public standing.  At least it's a trine.  I can say that this aspect will give me patience, endurance and the ability to solve financial problems.  Saturn trining Jupiter also helps you practically focus on long-term goals and take responsibility.  Not exactly fun stuff to hear, but it is what it is...

On September 2, Mercury moves into Virgo, one of its home signs.  Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, so it is always a very happy camper when it is in these two signs.  Mercury will quite literally be zipping through Virgo, as it leaves on September 18. When Mercury is in Virgo, we are more analytical and better equipped to deal with details.  Our speech is more precise and we tend to be more productive.  Just be mindful that the shadow side of Mercury in Virgo is a tendency to be more critical and we should all be fine with this Mercury transit.

Mars in Libra will be squaring Jupiter in 18 degrees of Cancer on September 4.   Despite this being a square, it will give us a boost of energy to start new projects, provide courage and allow us to take risks.  Okay, we might be on overconfident, impatient and exaggerate to take those bold moves.  But even the squares to Jupiter aren't as harsh say as a Venus-Pluto square.

This is what we have to work with until that Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 7, although Uranus will achieve its own fame on September 6 when it stations retrograde in 1 degree of Gemini on September 6.  Yes, Uranus will get back into Taurus to tackle its own unfinished business from November 7, 2025 through April 25, 2026.  More on that in that next week's post about the Lunar Eclipse.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. Reality Bites with the Sun Conjunct Saturn in Aquarius and a Full Moon in Leo

 

The United States survived the Mars-Uranus square on January 20, 2021.  Like many astrologers, I had major concerns about the Inauguration and expressed it on Twitter:

Enthusiasm was running high on that day but no one can deny that the reality of our problems still exists. We have a powerful Full Moon in 9 degrees of Leo on January 28 but before that we have the Sun and Saturn conjunct in 4 degrees of Aquarius on January 23 along with Mars in Taurus exactly squaring Jupiter in 4 degrees of Aquarius on the same day.

I have a natal Sun-Saturn conjunction in Scorpio, so I am all too familiar with what this aspect means.  It will provide a major reality check and requires hard work, discipline and patience in order to achieve goals.  Extra responsibilities are part and parcel as is an emphasis on structures.  There are no shortcuts with these two planets hooking up. But the perk of having this aspect occur in a fixed sign is the inherent tenacity; we won’t give up easily.

But having Mars in Taurus squaring Jupiter in Aquarius on the same day is a whole different ball game.  There is definitely energy and initiative to start new projects and take the risks necessary to accomplish our objectives in a big way.  Courage is strong but we need to be mindful not to go into attack mode but choose our battles wisely.  Avoid acting too rashly in order to preserve our energy levels. 

The first Full Moon of 2021 is in 9 degrees of Leo on January 28.  A Full Moon in Leo has themes pertaining to leadership and heart energy.  Full Moons have a way of providing closure, completion and shining light on secrets.  This particular Full Moon can provide some closure on a cycle that began with the New Moon in Leo on August 18, 2020.  Think back to whatever began for you back then to see what has transpired in your life.

This will be a complicated, Full Moon with a T-square pattern involving the Moon in Leo opposing the Sun, Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius and squaring Mars and Uranus in Taurus.  It’s a lot of fixed energy and tempers could flare more than with the usual Full Moon because this is a very combative vibe.  The Moon squaring Mars in Taurus amps up the frustration level and its opposition to Jupiter in Aquarius can make us lazy, self-centered and prone to excessive behavior.  The perk of the Full Moon opposing Jupiter though is that it holds the potential to be a very creative period that is growth oriented and can provide hopeful opportunity.  Hold that thought.  But the Moon opposing Saturn will place some limitations and restrictions in our path and could induce a temporary feeling of depression. 

We have one other major aspect that serves to complicate this Full Moon.  Venus and Pluto are conjunct in 25 degrees of Capricorn.  This adds another layer of intensity to the mix in relationships, so watch out for guilt trips and manipulative behavior.  Compulsion and obsession are also featured when Venus and Pluto hang out together.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the most positive aspect of this Full Moon.  Yes, I saved the best for last. The Sun and Jupiter are conjunct in 9 degrees of Aquarius and this will bestow a general feeling of happiness and optimism.  We can literally be feeling lucky and open to opportunities for growth.  Just don’t be too greedy about whatever manifests and remember to embrace the heart-centered theme of a Full Moon in Leo by being kind to others.

Super New Moon in Cancer and Mars Squares Jupiter

Summer is officially here! Both the sun and Mercury entered the emotional water sign of Cancer on June 21, 2017, aka the Summer Solstice, inspiring me to tweet:

But we have a special astrological treat in store for us on June 23, 2017 with a Super New Moon in 3 degrees of Cancer at 10:31 p.m.  It is classified as a super new moon because it so close to the earth’s orbit.  The moon rules Cancer, and is right at home in this emotional, nurturing, sensitive sign. This will be a very strong new moon that will rock our emotional core and give us access to information from a higher source.  It will be a very psychic time indeed.

This new moon also features a stellium in Cancer—in addition to the sun and moon in Cancer, Mercury and Mars are also in Cancer. The new moon is 3 degrees away from Mercury, emphasizing communication and amplified emotional sensitivity.  Chiron in Pisces is a major player in this new moon as well.  Chiron is currently in 29 degrees of Pisces and 29 degrees of any sign is referred to as the critical degree.  Chiron will station retrograde in 29 degrees of Pisces on July 1, 2017 and it will not enter Aries until April 2018.  The last aspect that the departing Gemini moon makes before it enters Cancer is a square to Chiron in Pisces.  This heightens emotional sensitivity and ramps up the intensity regarding vulnerability and old wounds.  It can also make us feel like victims and we need to counteract this effect by trying to feel more empowered.

This new moon in Cancer holds the promise of new beginnings for homes and families accompanied by a strong focus on emotional security. The sun and moon in Cancer are also widely conjunct Mars in 12 degrees of Cancer which can make us very protective or even defensive as insecurities can flare.  But this new moon is a marvelous opportunity to release any negativity in relationships.  It is conjuncting my south node in the 9^th house, which should be a really intense experience. I really believe that Chiron in Pisces is giving us a booster shot in terms of healing old emotional wounds with this new moon.  And with Chiron about to station retrograde soon we will have plenty of time to heal and release any victim issues that have held us back. It will be a whole different ball game when Chiron enters Aries in April 2018.

If anyone is looking to buy a new home the new moon in Cancer is a real boon and lucky charm.  The fact that Mercury will remain in Cancer for the next two weeks (it enters Leo on July 5, 2017) makes this the ideal time to strike while the iron is hot.  Having the sun and Mercury in Cancer creates a real nesting vibe to enhance emotional security.

Another astrological feature of this new moon is a cardinal T--square involving Mars in 12 degrees of Cancer, Jupiter in 15 degrees of Libra and Pluto in 18 degrees of Capricorn.  This configuration could trigger issues of fairness and equality with a strong need to rebalance.  Jupiter in Libra is all about fairness and Pluto in Capricorn is tied into power issues.  With both Jupiter and Pluto squaring Mars in Cancer, there can be a lot of aggressive energy out there that tempts us to overreact.  The best way to deal with this energy is to observe, stand back in our own quiet space and don’t engage in power plays.  That is probably easier said than done, but it is worth remembering.

On June 24, 2017 we get a blast of powerful transformative energy when Venus in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect supports the deepening of relationships by focusing on shared values.  It helps us to find common ground so that we are operating on the same page in relationships and finances.

But on June 25, 2017 Mars in Cancer will be squaring Jupiter in Libra as part of the cardinal T-square and this aspect can definitely cause us to bring emotional battles to an extreme.  Cardinal signs are known for their ability to initiate and be rather combustible.  It is very easy to bite off more than we can chew with this aspect.  Mars squaring Jupiter can trigger angers around the issues of fairness and justice.  Mars in Cancer can be quite defensive if provoked.  The effects of the Mars/Jupiter square will be felt through the end of June and it may manifest in even more shocking news than we’ve already seen in 2017.  But Mars in Cancer cuts us some slack in the wee hours of of June 25, 2017on the east coast when it trines Neptune in Pisces.  Trust your instincts then and solutions to problems may arrive in the form of dreams or other inspired actions.

Shot of Courage

 

This past week has been jam-packed with very strong astrological aspects. The major player was the Mars/Jupiter square on January 8^th.  Mars in 14 degrees of Libra squared retrograde Jupiter in 15 degrees of Cancer.  The major theme of this aspect is breaking out of limiting, dull and unhappy situations.  Mars squaring Jupiter forces growth and motivates people to take risks.   Situations can be blown out of proportion, there can be a tendency to take too much for granted, and recklessness can prevail.  Yet we need to realize that things aren’t going to happen instantly.  Also adding to this mix was the fact that Mars was squaring Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect alone literally forces you to pull up your bravery and courage by moving with instinctual action, strong ambition and physical endurance.  I loved reading Michael Lutin’s comments about Pluto knock on your door.  He said that if you resist the challenge to overcome your fears, then Pluto can act like a 16 wheeler truck driving through your life.  And you don’t want that to happen!

Mars in Libra has been trining my moon in Gemini and my Mars in Aquarius.  And it is within 2 degrees of my Libra ascendant.  I have definitely been feeling the emotional intensity and a fair amount of the motivational energy to achieve new goals in 2014.  Mars actually enters my 1^st house on January 13^th, and I am eagerly anticipating that shot of adrenaline to my physical body.  I did make an appointment with a new dentist this week and for me, going to the dentist is always an act of courage.  Having Mars transiting the 12^th house can be a bit of a buzz kill and is not exactly chock full of energy.  But I can’t take Mars transiting my first house for granted, either, because Mars will go retrograde in March and will re-enter my 12^th house in mid-April 2014. So I had better take advantage of this first hit and strike while the iron is hot.

Yet there were other aspect this week that left their mark in a less blatant way.  On January 7^th Mercury conjuncted retrograde Venus in Capricorn.  It lived up to its hype by being a pretty social day for me and I wound up interacting with several different people.  As an astrologer, I couldn’t help but notice the irony of the fact that I also wound up watching the old movie The Way We Were on TCM.  I saw the movie on TV a couple of years after it came out in 1973 and was swept away in its romantic tale.  I think that I had a very different experience this time around, courtesy no doubt of Venus retrograde in the down-to-earth sign of Capricorn.  The potential for those two characters sustaining a long-term relationship was clearly doomed from the start.  I may have cried at the inevitable end when I first saw the movie in my early 20’s, but this time around the ending seemed totally logical and right.

On January 7^th, Juno, the marriage asteroid, was also conjunct Neptune in three degrees of Pisces.  The theme of this aspect is dissolving and purging toxic relationship dynamics, including romantic delusions about marriage.  How appropriate to see that movie that day!  A major theme of Juno conjunct Neptune is denial, especially regarding a partner.
