An Emotionally Charged Full Moon in Pisces that is Heavily Influenced by Venus Opposing Saturn

We are headed for what could play out as one of the most emotionally intense full moons of 2020 on September 2, 2020.  It will be in the sensitive, compassionate and highly emotional water sign of Pisces.  The full moon will be in 10 degrees of Pisces on that day, so anyone with planets in the water signs of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio should be on high alert for emotional drama and potential waterworks.  While a moon in Pisces is definitely intuitive, sensitive and compassionate, it can also be confusing and leaving us with a strong desire for escapism.

A full moon in Pisces represents a dissolution process (don’t forget that Pisces is ruled by Neptune and Neptune loves to dissolve) and major reflection on the past. The general themes of a full moon are closure, completion and shining light on hidden matters.  We had a new moon in 4 degrees of Pisces on February 23, 2020 and back then there was a growing awareness of the coronavirus emerging.  It was followed by a Sun/Neptune conjunction in 18 degrees of Pisces on March 8, 2020.  On September 12, 2020, we will experience the sun in 19 degrees of Virgo opposing Neptune in 19 degrees of Pisces.  I think that it is a foregone conclusion by now that Neptune is closely aligned with the virus and this will be an interesting time to see if any progress will be revealed on combating the coronavirus after nearly six months of dealing with it on daily basis. I know that it is far too soon to expect a vaccine in September, but perhaps my own Neptunian nature (Neptune conjunct my ascendant in the first house and conjunct my Mercury) holds out hope for some good news in combating the virus. But it is rather telling that almost six months have passed since that new moon in Pisces ushered in the awareness of coronavirus and I for one am curious about what type of light will be shone on the cycle of this virus.

Mercury in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces are major players in this full moon.  Mercury will be opposing Neptune in 19 degrees of Pisces on August 30, 2020.  This aspect can set the stage for some mental confusion and miscommunication in relationships. Reality may be clouded due to an overflow of information.  It’s not the best time to be making major decisions or engaging in business deals. On the plus side, it does favor creativity.

How does the rest of the astrological landscape look on the full moon of September 2nd?  Well, for starters, the sun in Virgo is trining Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  This is an exciting aspect that could provide us with increased intuition and sudden flashes of insight leading to new revelations.  Our desire for freedom will be strong and we could also see some technological advancements.  The shadow side of this aspect is that we could also experience more earthquakes, volcano eruptions, fires and storms.  The sun in Virgo and Uranus in Taurus are also involved in a Grand Earth Trine with Jupiter in 17 degrees of Capricorn, so this could be an ideal time for manifesting our wishes.  Mercury in 24 degrees of Virgo is also trining Saturn in 25 degrees of Capricorn and Pluto in 22 degrees of Capricorn while opposing Neptune in 19 degrees of Pisces.  This configuration could supply us with the motivation to transform our thoughts into reality.

The full moon in 10 degrees of Pisces is also forming supportive sextiles to Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus and Jupiter in 17 degrees of Capricorn.  The moon sextiling Uranus can bring stimulating personal encounters and exciting events.  Intuition will be ramped up and our moods may be changeable with a strong desire to break free of old habits and try something new.  The moon sextiling Jupiter increases our desire to be with other people and have fun, which can be somewhat tricky in the age of coronavirus.

Underscoring the full moon is the role that Venus in Cancer plays.  It opposes Pluto in 22 degrees of Capricorn on August 30, 2020, which could manifest in some relationship drama via manipulation, obsessiveness, compulsive behavior and power plays.  On the day of the full moon, Venus in 25 degrees of Cancer exactly opposes Saturn in 25 degrees of Capricorn.  This can result in a conflict over our need for both emotional and financial security versus our need for control.   The old order is collapsing and more revelations regarding deeper levels of corruption could occur.

Venus Saturn oppositions also have the same full moon themes of conclusions and endings.  Saturn will definitely be exerting limitations on finances and relationships.  Some relationships may literally reach a breaking point or at the very least need to press the pause button.  I currently have Saturn transiting my 4th house of home and family and I can attest to the fact that the pandemic is definitely bringing its share of restrictions and limitations to my home life.  I am sure that this is true for Libras or anyone with Libra rising.  Venus in Cancer has been quite intense but it will be leaving the sign of Cancer for Leo on September 6, 2020.  But there will be more changes in relationships ahead because Venus in Leo will be squaring Uranus in Taurus on September 17, 2020.  This aspect will feel somewhat like Uranus stationing retrograde on August 15th.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

The coronavirus outbreak is causing me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people are concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice in order to practice social distancing. When I return to my Brookline office I will be practicing Reiki with a mask, gloves, and medical exam sheets for your protection.  I will also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes available. In the meantime, a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. If this appeals to you, please feel free to contact me by email at lindasim54@gmail.com or call me at 617-304-2205. The cost for distance Reiki sessions is based on a sliding scale of $30 -$50. For your convenience, I accept Venmo for payment.  I have also written an article about distance Reiki, which is available at:

The Sun Enters Virgo, Frustration Mounts as Mars Squares Saturn and New Insights Are Possible as Mercury Trines Uranus

Leo season is coming to a close.  I would say that the culmination of Leo energy occurred on August 18, 2020 with the new moon in 26 degrees of Leo, which inspired me to tweet:

On August 22, the sun enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo, joining Mercury, which entered Virgo on August 19th and will remain in Virgo until September 5, 2020.  The sun in Virgo will see an emphasis on details, analyzing data and practical concerns as we attempt to get organized. Leo is associated with a lot of drama, so it will be a refreshing change of energy for us to be focused on being more grounded and sensible.  Communications should improve as well with Mercury in Virgo because Mercury is in its happy place in Virgo and I tweeted about this on that day:

I found it interesting that former President Obama delivered an extremely focused and powerful speech that night at the Democratic National Convention. The moon had also just entered Virgo on August 19th.

When the sun is in Virgo, we will also be more inclined to get healthy and be of service to others. Perhaps the transit of the sun in Virgo will help us get on track in terms of beating back the coronavirus. Virgo does like to fix things. While the Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn occurred in January and manifested in the coronavirus, it didn’t really become an issue in the United States until March when the sun was in Pisces.  This could be an extremely productive transit if we don’t let ourselves get caught up in the shadow side of Virgo: perfectionism and a tendency to be overly critical.

On August 24, 2020, we have a very exasperating aspect when Mars in Aries exactly squares Saturn in 26 degrees of Capricorn.  This aspect is all about frustration, inhibition, conflicts with authority and inner conflict.  It can also cause difficulty in self-expression because Mars wants to race forward while Saturn is putting the brakes on.  Literally this is what this aspect feels like. Trust me on this one because I have a natal Mars Saturn square so I have been dealing with inner conflict all of my life.

Mars squaring Saturn requires that we develop patience, perseverance and empathy for others.  I think that I have got the perseverance and empathy pieces down, but patience still eludes me.  Quoting the old Meat Loaf song lyrics, “two out of three ain’t bad.” But this aspect demands patience as it is not the time to be taking risks. We need to focus on working hard to achieve our goals and accept the fact that it will probably take longer than we would like.  Sometimes acceptance can be a bitter pill to swallow.  But in many ways Mars squaring Saturn is as much of a theme song as the Saturn Pluto conjunction is for 2020.  Saturn tests us and delays what we want most.  Many of us are frustrated with the limitations in our daily lives that the coronavirus has inflicted upon us.

In addition to having my own natal Mars Saturn square involving the fixed signs of Aquarius and Scorpio respectively, the upcoming Mars Saturn square hits my chart in a big way. Mars in Aries opposes my Neptune in 26 degrees of Libra and Saturn squares my Neptune. I am definitely dealing with feelings of confusion and limitations on my ideals.  And Mars in Aries is squaring my Jupiter Uranus conjunction in Cancer in my 10th house while Saturn in Capricorn is opposing it. Saturn’s theme of restriction is very prevalent in my life these days as all of my work is done at home, where Saturn is currently transiting.  And the piece de resistance for me as a healer are the hits to my natal Chiron in Capricorn in my 4th house.  Mars is squaring my Chiron, which is putting me in touch with my own deep-seated issues that need healing.  Saturn is conjunct my natal Capricorn, which has been a particularly stressful transit regarding the structure of my life and my efforts to heal myself and be a more effective healer for other people through my astrology and Reiki work.

On August 25, 2020, Mercury in 10 degrees of Virgo trines retrograde Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  This transit could definitely open our minds to new possibilities which could manifest in exciting news or chance encounters that stimulate us mentally.  Mercury trining Uranus can increase our psychic abilities and deliver sudden flashes of insight.  This is one aspect that is giving me a break: it trines my north node in Capricorn and Uranus sextiles my south node in Cancer, which will hopefully provide me with the opportunity to shed some karmic baggage.

Uranus Retrograde, A Powerful New Moon in Leo and Mercury Enters Virgo

Uranus, the planet associated with innovation, freedom and sudden upheavals and change, will be stationing retrograde in 10 degrees of Taurus on August 15, 2020 and will remain retrograde until January 14, 2021 when it stations direct in 6 degrees of Taurus. It is joining the party of retrograde planets that include Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune and Ceres in Pisces.

How is Uranus retrograde going to play out this year?  Well, for starters, Uranus is not exactly comfortable in the sign of Taurus because the sign of Taurus loves stability and focus.  It is somewhat oxymoronic for Uranus to be in Taurus.  It’s not exactly like a few years ago when Uranus was in Aries, and we experienced the Uranus Pluto squares from 2012-2015. Uranus retrograde in Taurus can actually be our friend by affording us the opportunity to sort out the surprises and changes that we have experienced this year.  We certainly have our work cut out for us in this regard thanks to the pandemic.  It can be a time of reflection.  I have Uranus retrograde natally and I can honestly say that it is not the most difficult planet to have retrograde; it’s not as difficult as Saturn, Neptune or Pluto retrograde.  In some ways, I feel that Uranus is rather empowering because it allows me to feel secure in being different and seeking an alternate path.  Of course, it also helps with my astrology work because it is retrograde in my 10th house of career and public standing.

There is a shadow side, however, to Uranus retrograde. Don’t forget that whenever a planet stations retrograde or direct, its power is magnified. Uranus is also associated with the internet, so there may be some upsetting disclosures revealed online.  And Uranus in Taurus could bring more extreme weather and earthquakes.  We are veering into hurricane season as well.

On August 18, 2020 we have an extremely powerful new moon in 26 degrees of Leo.  I can tell you that anyone with planets in the late degrees of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will feel its impact the most.  I am in that camp, as this new moon exactly conjuncts my natal Pluto in my 11th house and squares my sun and Venus in Scorpio in my second house.  I certainly plan on meditating and setting some new intentions on this new moon.

The stage was set for this new moon to be a game changer on August 17, 2020 when the Leo moon squares newly retrograde Uranus in Taurus. This could actually trigger a flare up of the January events that were associated with the outbreak of the coronavirus.  On January 11, 2020, the day before the infamous Saturn Pluto conjunction, the moon in Leo squared Uranus in 2 degrees of Taurus, which had stationed direct on January 10th.  We could literally be feeling like we are stuck between two worlds – the past and the future.

The main theme of new moons is to set new intentions and this new moon in Leo is no exception to that rule.  Mars in Aries will be squaring Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, so there could be a sense of external control coming up for many people.  I know that I just said that fixed signs will be feeling this new moon’s intensity, but if you have any planets in the late degrees of the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you are not exactly off the hook either.

The perk or saving grace of this new moon in Leo is that we do have a Grand Fire Trine involving the sun and moon in Leo, Mars in Aries and the south node of the moon in 27 degrees of Sagittarius. This is a highly creative new moon which is extremely powerful and passionate.  Leadership may be emphasized in the sign of Leo and accessing our own personal sense of integrity.  Since Leo rules the heart, it may also represent an opportunity to develop a new understanding of love.  So you see, I’m not kidding when I say this is one potent and passionate new moon.

On August 19, 2020, Mercury enters the sign of Virgo until September 5, 2020.  Mercury rules Virgo and Gemini, so it is a happy camper in Virgo.  Communications will become more focused, humble and down-to-earth.  We will see more of a detailed analysis of the facts emerge as opposed to the drama featured when Mercury was in Leo. Dealing with details and practical matters is about to get much easier.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

An Active Week Ahead as Venus Enters Cancer, Mercury Squares Uranus and Mars Squares Pluto

We have another active week ahead of us with Uranus still calling the shots.  On August 2, 2020, the day before the full moon in Aquarius which squared Uranus in Taurus, the sun in Leo squared Uranus in Taurus.  On that day I tweeted:

We have another major Uranus aspect coming up on August 10, 2020 when Mercury in 10 degrees of Leo squares Uranus in 10 degrees of Taurus.  I will cover that a little later in this post. But before that happens Venus changes signs and enters the sign of Cancer on August 7, 2020 after spending four months in Gemini due to this year’s Venus retrograde.

Venus in the sign of Cancer until September 6, 2020 and it will be a marked change from Venus in Gemini. When Venus is transiting the sign of Cancer, we will be more nurturing, self-protective and cautious in our relationships and finances.  There will also be more emotional ups and downs as we experience bouts of moodiness.  We are more inclined to demonstrate our love through acts of devotion and concern.  Emotional security will be paramount to us.

Venus in Cancer also indicates a longing for a deeper emotional connection in relationships.  Attachment and dedication are strong themes of this transit as we experience increased levels of sensitivity.  But we need to be mindful of the tendency to turn cold and retreat into our crablike shells if we feel hurt.  We may also be inclined to be more possessive of those we love.  It’s true that we will feel more vulnerable while Venus is transiting Cancer, but the plus side of this transit is that it opens our heart more so that we can give and receive love more easily.  Try to hold onto that thought and we should benefit greatly from this transit.

Then on August 10, 2020, Mercury in Leo squares Uranus in Taurus.  This aspect generates a great deal of excitement and change to our daily routines but it can be accompanied by upsets and nervous tensions.  Mishaps in communications are also possible.  Be prepared for cars to break down or computer glitches.  Try not to make spontaneous decisions if possible.  We will definitely be feeling more impatient and willing to try new experiences because new perspectives will be available.  I have a natal Mercury Uranus square in my chart and can attest to the amount of nervous energy it generates.  It’s an ongoing theme in my life.

On August 13, 2020, Mars in 23 degrees of Aries will be squaring Pluto in 23 degrees of Capricorn.  I won’t sugarcoat the effects of this aspect: it will be rife with pressure, power struggles and confrontations.  Mars and Pluto are not lightweight planets; after all, they are the rulers of Aries and Scorpio. People are striving to achieve their goals and they may engage in underhanded or manipulative measures.  At the root of this aspect is a strong desire to gain control of others.  Even if we can curb our temper and don’t act too aggressively, others can be acting very aggressively at this time and we could find ourselves in the line of their fire.

Secrets may very well emerge under the auspices of this aspect but be mindful of the balance between getting our point across to deliberately hurt the feelings of others.  Don’t be afraid to speak your truth.  This aspect reminds me of the expression: “Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don’t say it mean.”   Am I making myself clear on the power of this aspect?  It has the potential to be very explosive, but it can also be very transformative if we harness its energy properly.

If you are curious about how all of these planetary changes will be affecting you, please consider getting an astrological reading. These are very challenging and unique times; an astrological reading could provide some much needed clarity and guidance.  Check out my menu of services at:

I was also featured in the July 3, 2017 edition of Boston Voyager, an online publication that runs a section called Inspiring Stories about local entrepreneurs on its home page.  The Scorpio moon was trining the Cancer sun and Neptune in Pisces on that day, so my story certainly debuted under fitting aspects.  Please feel free to check it out:

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, maintaining social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when going outside your home and staying home if you are sick.  I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
