Venus Enters Aquarius and the Sun Sails into Pisces

 

The times they are a changing and there is ample evidence of that this week when Venus joins the Aquarius party on February 16.  We already have the Sun, Mars, Mercury and Pluto there, so now we can expect even more change and a need for freedom in our lives.  Venus in Aquarius has a more unconventional expression of love and craves experimentation.  Venus will remain in Aquarius until March 11 and we can expect to be desiring more space in our relationships as well as a need for fairness.  The lines between friendship and love can also become a bit blurred when Venus is in Aquarius.  Venus in Aquarius is more cerebral and detached; it is not exactly known for being warm and fuzzy but that can be a good thing if we need to talk things out rationally in relationships.  When Venus is transiting the sign of Aquarius we  might also find that our friendships become more important to us.  Venus will be conjunct Pluto in Aquarius on February 17 and this can add more layers of intensity and passion to relationships.  It can also motivate us to be more honest and get to the root of any issues that have been bothering us.  Spoiler alert, it can also bring up issues of control, power, jealousy and obsession on this day.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that on February 16 we have another blast of Aquarius energy when Mercury in Aquarius squares Uranus in 19 degrees of Taurus.  Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, so this is indeed a heavy hit as it doubly emphasizes the Aquarian and Uranian vibes. Mercury squaring Uranus can produce nervous energy and anxiety.  It also has a very unpredictable quality and there is a strong likelihood that things might not go as planned.  There is also a sense of brilliant thinking present as new information could emerge as well as different approaches to situations. I have a natal Mercury-Uranus square and I can tell you first-hand that it indicates an original thinker that doesn't follow the pack.  It could be an exciting day in terms of the news. Changes can occur in our routines and there is the potential for misunderstandings in communication.  Since Mercury also rules transportation, please be careful driving on this day too.

On February 18, the Sun enters the mutable water sign of Pisces.  So one planet is leaving the Aquarius party.  I must confess that I tend to love it when the Sun is in Pisces, probably because I am a Scorpio and at least the Sun is literally in my element now. It is in a fun part of my chart-my 5th house.  When the Sun is in Pisces, our focus shifts towards more compassion and empathy for others as altruism rules. We are inclined to follow our dreams and be more creative.  Just be mindful that there is a shadow side of the Sun in Pisces: don't get caught up in self-pity and martyrdom or victimization.  Addiction could rear its ugly head too and there might be a tendency towards escapism when the Sun is in Pisces. Channel that need for escapism constructively by going to the theatre, a museum or a movie.  You get the idea; you don't have to go down the rabbit hole.

On February 22, Venus in Aquarius meets up with Mars in 6 degrees of Aquarius.  This can be a very romantic time as passion and intimacy are amped up a notch.  If your Valentine's Day was a bit lackluster, this could be your chance to make up for it.  It represents an opportunity to meet new friends as well and to be creative.  So please make the most of this day and get out there if possible.

The coronavirus outbreak caused me to increase the number of distant Reiki sessions I do because people were concerned about the spread of the infection. I have decided to suspend my in-person Reiki sessions until further notice, so all of my Reiki sessions will be distant Reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. But a distant Reiki session is the perfect opportunity to safely build up your immune system and if you have contracted coronavirus, you can be treated safely from the comfort of your home. My procedure is to have a conversation with a client about what they hope to achieve from a session, we set up a time for the session to take place when they will be in a state to receive healing energy and I follow up with a telephone conversation to discuss their experience and my perception of their blockages. I do miss seeing my clients, so I am now offering Zoom consultations/intakes before the session so that we can see each other. I have also incorporated a new technique with my distance Reiki treatments since I don’t always have a photo of my client.  I use a teddy bear so that I can scan and focus the healing energy where it is needed. I also wanted to note that in an ironic twist of fate, one of the latest variants of COVID is EG.5, with a nickname of Eris.  Sound familiar--the Goddess of Discord?  Apparently, COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise...

I urge everyone to engage in massive amounts of self-care and follow the protective measures of washing your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, wearing a face mask when necessary and staying home if you are sick. And get a vaccine. The newest vaccine is available and I encourage you to get it to protect yourself. I repeat, you do not want to get this virus! I speak from personal experience and consider myself very fortunate to have survived Coronavirus twice. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!

A Venus Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn Alludes to Power Struggles in Love and Money

We are getting somewhat of an astrological breather this week after the intense full moon in 0 degrees of Virgo on February 19, 2019 when I tweeted:

The harshest aspect we are facing this week is a conjunction between Venus and Pluto in 22 degrees of Capricorn on February 22, 2019.  Sometimes conjunctions between planets can be easy and gentle aspects (such as between the Sun and Venus) but that is not the case with Venus and Pluto.  Pluto is a heavy hitter and its transformative nature is akin to undergoing labor pains.  With Venus conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, there are bound to be some power struggles in love and money rearing their ugly heads over these issues.  The very fact that they are conjunct in the sign of Capricorn reinforces the themes of control and power.  We will really need to be mindful of the tendency to control others and behave in ways that reflect feelings of jealousy, anger and obsession.  I have a natal Venus Pluto square and I am quite familiar with these themes in my life.

But the silver lining of this aspect is the fact that Venus conjunct Pluto can help us work through old karmic wounds if we use it constructively to address power imbalances in relationships and get deeper in touch with our own personal sense of self-value and power.  I know that this aspect will affect me in a very profound way as it is forming a conjunction to my natal Chiron in the 4^th house and my progressed sun in Capricorn which is conjunct my natal Chiron now.  And I don’t think that anyone can ignore the difference that Chiron entering Aries (on February 18^th when the sun entered Pisces) is having on the world.  It truly is the time to take personal responsibility for our own healing.

On February 22, 2019 we also have Mercury in Pisces squaring Jupiter in Sagittarius.  While this aspect can provide us with high hopes for the future it can also cloud our judgment and make us prone to neglecting the details.  This is a lot of mutable energy and one of the down sides of Mercury in Pisces is a tendency to over idealize.

But on February 23, 2019 Mercury in Pisces is forming a supportive sextile to Pluto in Capricorn which may help mitigate whatever damage occurred on the previous day.  Mercury in Pisces sextiling Pluto in Capricorn will bestow a kinder, gentler, more compassionate approach to communications that will help transform our relationships.  And it is also a boon for working together to manifest our ideals.  Hold that thought…
